That is another point i was going to bring up. This is how they should be operating their site to avoid instances like this. I have used a different site since and that site does the same thing you just mentioned. I withdrew 20 bitcoins and even though there were not enough funds in the hot wallet it went into pending mode and my betting allowance dropped to 0 as it should have. I felt very comfortable knowing the transaction was being processed even though it did take a while.

However i think they probably have it like this on purpose so people do continue betting which i guess is more profitable for them and there's really nothing 'wrong' with their set up it is just not ideal. In saying that though i still expect to be compensated because of this bug/glitch, not because of the hot wallet not being topped up. If i had continued betting just because there were no funds available to withdraw yet that would be my own stupid fault. I think this instance is quite different though.

Yeah, it is something they could have easily avoided. This happened only because they check the hot wallet balance around once a year. doesn't keep track of large withdrawals have a twice in a month support. and the bug (which they fixed).
The players deserve to be compensated.

Regarding how that 11 BTC roll happened, this is very alarming and intriguing case since a similar case was reported on PD thread a week ago or so?

I read in the other thread that the guy with the mysterious 11 BTC roll happened after he posted a screenshot showing his 'secret URL'.

It's likely someone typed it in by hand, found they couldn't withdraw the balance, and so gambled it away.

Displaying secrets on-screen isn't a great idea, especially when people post screenshots so often.

Okay, but why is the gap between round initiated and completed around 50 minutes?

Edit: Well, the reason he posted the screenshot in the first place is their fault. But, I suppose if that is indeed the case, SD has no obligation since it is negligence on the part of the player. But, a reputed site would will discuss it openly, and might even refund it in full. He also says he has lost 60BTC or so because of him thinking all the funds are already lost.

Restored.

Thank you for confirming Smiley

Congratz! Wink

hmm it seems the issues spreading to more and more slacky is particularly affected did the PR say anything :O if multiple members are reporting the same issue this could be a major signal of something much worse...

90BTC of players already lost if we count these 2 reports alone. Not everyone posts here either. It is pretty bad already. Sad

I doubt if SD will refund those who lost due to the inability to resist the betting hormone. Wink

Satoshi Dice uses three levels of storage for funds:

First, there's the hot wallet. The hot wallet funds can quickly be depleted because investors can withdraw hundreds of coins and highrollers can win equally large amounts. Both betting volume and investor activity increased recently, bringing the hot wallet to zero.

Secondly, there's a cold storage that is used to trim or fill the hot wallet. This storage was too small to fill the hot wallet during the weekend.

And third, we have an offline cold storage that can't be accessed by any admin. Access to this storage could unfortunately not be accessed during this weekend, leaving the hot wallet without funds.

We can't add funds for people that were unable to withdraw and lost their balance by betting. These funds were already credited to investors. However we have noticed the increase of highrollers and activity and will increase the hot wallet size in order for it to be able to handle more. There's also players that continued to bet and won. These people have not been in a hurry to send back any wins that they "shouldn't" have won.  Roll Eyes

Note to investors: The profit compared to the expected value for investors is still above 100% (last checked at Profit/EV: 106.7% as can be seen on http://dicesites.com/satoshidice )

The fault is on your part. When withdrawing you didn't show the appropriate message (in the least), and confused players into thinking that betting and winning is the only way forward.

Players who lost because of the bug deserves to be compensated nevertheless. Just because some players might have made a profit because of your bug, isn't a satisfactory defense.
2745  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SatoshiDice - Need investigation into these bugs. [SEVERE] on: July 20, 2015, 02:35:06 PM
SD_PR posted on the thread. They merely fix the hot wallet issue (bug #1 mentioned), and that is it? They should compensate the players losses. And no word till of the second sneaky issue (bug #2 of OP).

Bug #1 have caused damages to many players of SatoshiDice who tried to withdraw, and none have been compensated as of yet.

Only 3 reported yet. (1 after they started working on it) Note that every player will not be aware of the existance of the forum and will be simply burning out their balance in desperation.

Quote

Your balance: 0.08724972

Amount to withdraw:

Insufficient hot wallet balance. The maximum available for withdrawal right now is 9.207E-5 BTC. Our technicians have been notified about this and will make more funds available from the cold storage.
2746  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: July 20, 2015, 02:32:53 PM
The withdrawal system has been updated so that if a withdrawal transaction does not go through because of any new (previously unhandled) error, balance will remain synchronized. Sorry about the delay this has caused.

Hi,

I would expect you to compensate them for the losses due to the bug. Why are you ignoring that entire part?
2747  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: July 20, 2015, 08:21:58 AM
I wonder if we will ever hear from them again?

No idea. They should check the forum once in a couple of weeks..

Started a new thread here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1128719.msg11922204#msg11922204
2748  Economy / Scam Accusations / SatoshiDice - Bugs and Withdrawal issues. [RESOLVED] on: July 20, 2015, 08:17:01 AM
Total loss reported by 2 players around 70-90BTC

And as usual a totally lousy support (assuming it exists). No PM's or emails or anything replied to yet.

Probable Bug #1

Things started from here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.msg11909254#msg11909254

slacky741 couldn't withdraw his balance below a threshold of 31.17BTC, but could withdraw everything over and above that.

Probable Bug #2

Edit: Possibly hacked account. No bug involved. Not confirmed.

If there are bets that you think you didnt do my guess is someone has used your account. I did notice a few pages back you posted a screenshot which had your secret address in it. Never give this out.
Im sorry to say but i dont think you have much chance of getting this back

fk yes i see...but i have password.....if anyone here enter to my account for withdrawal need my passsword...i think... why play my 11 btc in one time? fucking idiot who enter to my account and play for loose...how much won this idiot? nothing, only give me more loose to me...now i need a new account right?

The error seems most likely another bug.

The gap between Round Initiated and Round Completed, shouldn't be more than 1-5 seconds.

But in this case it took 50 minutes for the roll to happen?  Shocked

(Adding that, the previous roll is numbered #27441590 coming just before the roll number of the 11 BTC bet, (ref: https://satoshidice.com/roll/27441591), further strengthens the observation.
Generally, the player does not have the time to change that bet amount and odds that fast.)

Disclosure: I am related/connected to Da Dice atm, and had managed campaign behalf of them. This has nothing to do with that.

I see. So it seems exactly the same issue.

When you clicked to withdraw, did it just keep loading or was it something else?
2754  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: July 19, 2015, 11:58:21 AM
Yes, the site was sold 2 years ago or so, and the support, if it actually exists, need to be better that this.

Most dicesite you need wait 1-24 hour depending on when admin has time to refill hotwalllet, when u withdraw 60 btc.

....like i say...more than 24 hours...and dont let me withdrawal nothing... 1 btc 2 nothing.... i understand about the hotwallet, but this is no fair..

Hi,

A serious issue has been reported. Players of SatoshiDice are not able to withdraw funds.

Example scenario:
A has 10 BTC balance, in some cases, he is not allowed to withdraw that 10 BTC, but allows to withdraw anything mroe than that. In effect, players are tempted to bet and recover at least the locked in balance, and thereby lose it.

I suggest SatoshiDice to compensate the players of their loss due to the bug.

I lost 62 i won today

Can you clarify whether you have had the same issue mentioned above?

That really sux you have never heard from them after emailing them  Angry. I don't think i can go through that experience with that many coins in an account in limbo without hearing back from for god knows how long. I've just gone ahead and depleted that betting account in a matter of seconds.

Pretty dissapointed with satoshi dice, don't think i'll be betting there any time soon. Probably not anywhere else though for that matter either lol i suppose that is one good thing from all this.

At least it's gone now and i don't have to think about it anymore and i can just walk away from it. Lesson learnt... sux tho..

Wait... you lost that amount Huh
That wasn't a good idea, mate. You still had a good chance of getting it back. Sad

Edit: Quoted for reference:

Hey Satoshi,

I have just sent you an email regarding this the issue i have had with your site. Just thought i should post in here as well as i stand to lose a lot of coins. 31.17 to be exact.

So i decided to send over 20 bitcoins to my satoshi account (call me crazy) and i miraculously managed to get this to around 36 bitcoins. I then went to withdraw these and it said the max that was in the hot wallet was around 31.2 or something. So i decided to withdraw 31.17 and the loading circle came up as if it was processing but kept loading. A couple of minutes passed by and it continued loading so i clicked the cross on the withdrawal window.

After this my balance still correctly displayed the same amount of bitcoins i should have had (around 36). I tried to withdraw the 31 again and this time it said the maximum balance i have left to withdraw was around 5 bitcoins.

I then withdrew the 5 bitcoins which went through fine, so now my balance is showing 31.17.

Basically what i think has happened is while the loading circle was happening it sent the message to Satoshi Dice's server's that this amount had been withdrawed but did not get to the stage of actually broadcasting a transaction. The reason i think this is because i continued to do some more bets and and got myself back up to around 38 bitcoins, tried to withdraw again and i was able to withdraw another 6.8 so my balance was once again back down to 31.17

Please get this issue resolved. I took a huge risk sending those 20 bitcoins over and have only withdrawn around 12 of my total balance and winning so far so i am down quite a lot of bitcoin.

Here are the images of what is happening:

Only slightly freaking out here!

This game house edge is zero but each wager is taxed with commission. The commission we take cannot be simply translated into the corresponding house edge similar to the one we’ve got in dice gambling.
In the game of dice, the odds of the outcome are slightly biased towards the house and terms of payoffs are linear to the probability of outcome. In slopes, however, the odds of the outcome are strictly 50/50 (i.e. there is no house edge bias involved when the slopes are generated) and terms of payoffs are flexible.  Yet, we have to charge commission to facilitate variable payouts at expense of the losing counterparty … So these are two different things.

Regards,
Alex

For a 1BTC bet each by two players on both sides, how much is the commission in absolute amounts?

I am guessing (like dooglus does) that it is 0.2BTC (10% of 2BTC)??
