1841  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [NEW] [Da Dice] Roll Prediction Contest! | 2 BTC in PRIZES! on: September 22, 2015, 01:24:58 PM
Please post your bitcoin addresses. Smiley

As ndnhc announced a bit earlier, we came to an conclusion to honour the Roll Prediction Contest:

All winners are asked to please post their bitcoin address in the competition thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1156642.0 and we will pay accordingly direct to their bitcoin addresses.

DaDice has always honoured all of its competitions. DaDice has even paid bitcointalk.org member ajareselde 0.1 btc, despite the fact that he was indeed not the winner of the 750th million prediction competition, since it has been agreed with the community that the time after the downtime will be considered winning time for the prediction and all agreed. Since he virtually stalked me, I finally agreed to pay him 0.1 btc. However, ajareselde didn’t find it noteworthy to mention it here, despite his many posts in this thread since then!!! Is a honest community member acting like that ?

Ok guys we are almost at the end of the competition.
I'm glad to officially announce that we will have another competition with even bigger prizes!!

All the updates will be made on this thread.
After this one ends the opening post will be edited, and as soon as possible we will open the registration process for the next one. You will be informed when the registration is live.

To make things easier, registration and the live competition will be made on this same thread, so you don't need to look for information in multiple threads, as everything will stay on the same place.

That is great. Cheesy

This time I am going to play just for the competition. Cheesy

I deposited 0.22btc 11 hours ago, still don't see it on my balance, dadice, where is my money??? It has 70 confirmations, return my money!
Why you deposit in there? Maybe shouldn't deposit yet coz dadice its not trustable yet since didn't honor 2 btc to winner, and i saw bounty 1billion also not yet been paid.

yeah, i should realize that, and they changed the faucet system without any notifications, and they said i need to wager 1 btc to get my 12500 sat faucet back, now i have wagered 0.79 btc here, so just need to deposit to qualify 1 btc wager threshold, I just want to get my big faucet back.

I deposit before and it went very fast, never thought this time i would have been delayed for almost 12 hours, and where is new owner? Why he doesn't introduce himself here?

It is credited probably a few hours ago. stats.dadice.com shows so. Can you update the situation? Wink

i have encountered an issue, i am not sure if i should contact support but i made a deposit and played a few games and set my password and then invested the btc, but when i reload the page i met with a completely new and different profile, is there anyway for me to retrieve my other account ?

You don't have access to the secret url?
Please check your history in the browser and check if you can find it. (The secret url is kind of your primary password. You are to keep it safe, and do not share it)

If you lost access to it, then contact support with the transaction id, deposit address, and if you have set a profit name include that too.

Thanks Smiley

LOL, I made a small little profit and my ROI is negative. Grin
It was because though most of my high-risk bets were lower than the low risk ones (except the last 4-6) they were still above 5% of the bankroll. So, I either lose 100% of the 5%, or get some 25% of the 5%.

I suggest changing these rules to the one I propose.

I would like to propose a better system. The 5% limit is really troublesome. My bets are usually more than 5%, but it gets rounded down. So when I make a 0.01 bet on high odds and lose and a 0.1 bet on low odds and win, my ROI goes down, while it shouldn't, imo.

A better way is to take out the bankroll part and the 5% limit. (10x can stay, no problem with that).
Bet with whatever amount you want.

Like patt0 mentioned out, if we don't limit a max bet stake, everyone can just bet his all bank in the final moments of the competition, and with a lucky bet they will claim first prize, and that seems unfair to someone that was able to make small bets throughout the entire competition and showed overall profits.

There is another problem with that system, that is the risk for someone to go all in and make big bets, when having a small initial bankroll. If someone starts the competition with 1 BTC, and another one with 10.000 DOGE, it will be a lot easier for the one with 10k Doge to go allin if things are going wrong, and that does not seem fair as well.

Also, in your example you chosed to make a big bet at low odds and a small bet at high odds. That is exactly the right thing to do, since the chances on winning at high odds are lower. The only problem is that you chosed to bet 5% in both of them, so that good decision was not reflected on your bets at all.
You would not get negative ROI% if your 5% was the 0.1 and not the 0.01, that way your bet would not get limited.

So to solve your problem in the next competition, see what is your normal betting stake, and list your initial bank so you can bet that stake as 5% of your bank, and everything will be ok.
Please remember that you don't need to fund your address with the bank you declare, so you are free to state any bank you want, allowing you to use you normal betting stake as if it was 5% of your bank, even if that represents a bigger percentage of your real betting bank.

Nah, the current system is not fair, unless I make bets only for winning this competition.
I am not talking about getting rid of 5%, I am suggesting why not get rid of the entire bankroll thing?

My problem is I don't have a fixed bankroll. Nor is my bets have a reliable average. If I find a very good pick, my bet could be 100x as much as my normal one (don't go beyond 1 BTC, I can't afford that much, lol), so I can't.

Also, I was under the impression that betting twice on the same thing doesn't count, but it is being counted. not sure. Huh

I had acccdentally sent a wrong amount to the wrong address, and had to cancel out by betting proportionately on the other two sides. This caused my ROI to drop. Well, I didn't lose much, so I am fine. Smiley

1853  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing Cryptour - Fun Bitcoin Tournament | No signups req | Provably fair on: September 21, 2015, 01:08:04 PM

It's not a typo, in common programming language, esp. for .substring(), 1st character is at position 0. 32nd character is at position 31 (starting from 0). Even though the doc is using psuedo-code, we are using JavaScript as the base.

lol. sorry. Grin

I don't have much idea about javascript. But in Excel, entering =mid(31,40) gets me the substring from the 31st place.
1854  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing Cryptour - Fun Bitcoin Tournament | No signups req | Provably fair on: September 21, 2015, 01:02:46 PM
Congrats on your 1st place entry. Hope it keeps its position.

The substring is 32nd to 41st characters, hence for yours fdf1648f8. Still some space to squeeze in to the top position. Smiley

32nd? Dang! Oh, it is. Can you fix this typo:

Quote
// Concatenate txid, nonce and tournament address
// txid and tournament address are hex strings while nonce is string in integer
composite = txid.toString() + nonce of first confirming block + tournament address;

// SHA-256 it
hash = sha256(composite);

// Get a substring of hash at 32nd to 41st position
// with string length of 9 characters
score_in_hex = hash.substring(31, 40);

// Convert it into decimal
score = parseInt(score_in_hex, 16);

Edit: I checked. Order is correct. Funny I took 32 for almost all the cases.

Anyhow lets say if my position is in winning stage, and then alot entries coming and my position drop out..
Is it possible that entry will back to winning place again if the number of winners increases?

Yes, that is a valid possibility.
If the new entries are mostly scoring lower than yours.

Alright thanks and understood all of it.. because my position just gone.. and check its at no6.. and just checked again. Become no7. Eww its so sad.. too early for celebrating no5 just now.

Hey, you got company. Smiley
I am fourth. from second.  Cool

...and #1 on the 000 tourney.

Once you get a super high number I think it would be really hard to defeat.

The latest confirmed block (375 464) just just pushed everyone down by 2 spots!

That was me.  Grin

9 winners now.

Edit:
Verifying my ticket.

Didn't get much of it, but gonna try anyway, lets see if I can beat Mr. Hobbit

Mr. Hobbit is now 3rd. Still with just one ticket that is 9x prize. Grin

Edit: Almost 9x.

Just reserved a seat in the 000's tourney.  Cool

According to what I've understood it is a bit like ponzi right?

It is a lottery.  Roll Eyes

You get in first, you get in last, nothing changes (I bought the third last ticket or something, and I am second, lol Got lucky.). More like a poker tournament without playing poker. And provably fair too.
