2801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A time people have been waiting for bitcoin to drop on: May 10, 2022, 08:29:32 AM
Hello 👋
Okay, presently I want to ask why the sudden panicking around the media and forum here.
I could ones remembered when bitcoin was +$69k and everyone seems to be panicking for the price to get 32k or below. Today we have another chance to buy very low yet people still waiting for the price to drop even more lower.
I want to know when is the best time to buy or waiting more dip to buy and what if the price turns back to bull?
What do we do?

The only ones who are actually panicking are the newbies who do not really yet believe in their Bitcoin investment. So they flip flop between selling and buying until their entire stash has been burned away from losses and fees. Especially fees.

Either you hodl, and if you are a bit adventurous, you can do some trading. But from my experience, hodling is always the best option.

Well, either way all newbies usually panic and make losses. Its an expensive life lesson in investing that everyone usually goes through.
2802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PROS AND CONS OF CRRYPTOGAMBLING. on: May 10, 2022, 07:54:45 AM
Adding Bitcoin or any crypto is definitely only going to bring benefits to whatever you are bringing crypto to. As long as that system was dependent somehow on a monetary system for any reason. Gambling is only one of the many branches of industry which benefit from using blockchain technology. Although we have not yet come to the point where gambling is 100% transparent, decentralised, unregulated and fair. Smart contracts might not be complicated enough yet.

But I see web 3.0 as the next generation of gambling. And crypto will definitely be the key player in making that happen.
2803  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2022, 06:07:38 PM
So the bears are clearly gunning for sub $30k.

What a shock.

At least they tell you where you should be putting your buy orders at.

proudhon where are you?

Your one post can stope this from happening.

Come on show us your negativity.

I don't know, looks like we could see a rally from here. Could easily get a pump to $60-70k.

Honhonhon is bullish? Thats not a good sign.

2804  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard earned money - Busted in seconds on: May 09, 2022, 11:00:12 AM
So how much did OP lose actually? I am quite curious as to the full amount he did not say.

Either way, I know the feeling. I have lost more than 2 months of hard earned/saved money and most of it went towards not even a good game.

I wonder, do crypto casinos offer monthly spending limits? I think that would be a very good idea since a lot of people have developed gambling problems and need a way to stop their gambling losing streaks after a certain amount. I know I would definitely benefit from such a function.

The online gambling casino would probably lose money like that, so I doubt they would offer such convenient services to their customers. Grin
2805  Economy / Gambling / Re: I miss the old OnChain gambling on: May 09, 2022, 10:24:45 AM

Agree. Regulation is taking part of this transition.

There are still many of these casinos today but you will need to connect your wallet to the  platform. Its not using BTC anymore but the altcoins with smart contract functions like ETH and etc. Only few of us are using them also because the transaction few is just too  much. I hope someone will really create that kind of casino again using LN so for it to be cheaper.

Online gambling casinos were not really that much of an issue back then, when crypto was still fresh and new. You could easily use Bitcoin without having to worry about this regulation or that regulation.

Nowadays without decentralization of gambling via smart contracts I do not see much of a future for online crypto gambling, as regulations just keep getting tighter and tighter...

The best option is just to keep upgrading until we reach the point of balance again. I still believe in Bitcoin and I am sure it will overcome this annoying government-placed obstruction of freedom.
2806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's preventing bitcoin from worldwide adoption? on: May 09, 2022, 10:10:03 AM
I personally do not believe anything is in the way of Bitcoin adoption. As far as adoption goes, Bitcoin is inevitable. There is no stopping a better technology and a better monetary system of the future.

The only problem I see is the rate of adoption. It is all happening a bit too slow perhaps, but then again, we have nothing to compare it to other than fiat. And even then, it is not the same as global money adoption, since that has never existed before in modern times.

It will definitely break through. Might take a while.
2807  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time for me to buy on: May 08, 2022, 01:10:44 PM
From my experience, the best time to buy would be anytime that you want to buy or even have the possibility to buy. I too have waited for the "perfect buying moment", observing all the charts, the signals, the news and so on. And I always was left disappointed by the fact that I missed out because I was too concerned with timing instead of just hodling my investment in something that I believe in.

So the best time? Does not exist. Unless you are a day trader. Although even then Hodling is the best option, always.
2808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending Crypto to the wrong address on: May 08, 2022, 12:02:36 PM
We're developing something to reduce human error in crypto transactions, especially those in which some mistake was made when writing the receiver address.
Can you guys help us have a greater perception on the user side?

  • Did it happen to you?
  • How comfortable are you every time you transfer to a remote address?
  • Would you be more comfortable using a helper?
  • What do you use today to mitigate this risk?

Thanks

Honestly my biggest fear is not accidently sending crypto transactions to the wrong address, but rather having my seed phrase hacked, or even having my clipboard highjacked. You copy the right address, but post the hackers address. And if you don't catch your mistake that money is gone forever. It has not happened to me yet, I triple and quadruple check my addresses and always attempt a good OPSEC. But I am never comfortable 100% with sending anything. I would not use a helper as that is just another liability. The best way to mitigate such risks is just to be vigilant and always on alert. Use your brains and nothing can go wrong.
2809  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbooks offering Cycling? on: May 08, 2022, 11:52:06 AM
Im tired to see sportsbooks offering pathetic sports nobody knows they exist or fixed simulated matches and no cycling. Can someone tell me any crypto bookie that offers cycling? (Not betfury and not betnomi) This rats bookies maxbet are a shame. Thanks
Well, I would have to say that I have yet to see a "useless sport". I believe that very much to be a subjective view to each person. Rollbit and Duelbits seem to offer what you are asking for, however I myself have not tried them out enough so take my advice with a grain of salt and do your own research.

I personally enjoy seeing such a wide variety of gambling opportunities. Even if a lot of them are unpopular or completely niche aspects of the gambling world, it is still good to have as many choices as possible.

Some people like those niche sports.
2810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best golfers will seek the Bitcoin prize in the Sunshine Tour. on: May 06, 2022, 01:21:37 PM
Its moments like these that I wish I was a good golf player. Up till today, I have only tried once and it ended with a broken window. So I definitely would not be top ten golfers  Grin

But I am however glad to see that Bitcoin use cases are slowly but surely becoming more widespread and creative. That just goes to show that the rate of adoption for Bitcoin is really breaking new levels. Perhaps soon we will see Bitcoin in McDonalds? Not that I would ever trade in Bitcoin for a lump of semi-edible plastic with awe-inspiring never-rots technology.
2811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where does your country stand ? on: May 06, 2022, 11:17:39 AM
I was sitting and wondering which countries might have the highest gambling rates and for me I thought it could be UK or the US but despite this I went on the web to do a rescarch on which countries gamble the most. Let's have a look at this, since this information might be interesting to you guys as well !

1. Australia
2. Singapore ( they only opened their first casino in 2010!)
3. Ireland
4. Canada
5. Finland
6. Italy
7. Hong Kong
8. Norway
9. Greece
10. Spain !!

I was just as surprised as you guys since I did expect other countries to show up here as well instead of the ones that already did but you can recheck the same on the source : https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.worldatlas.com/amp/articles/countries-that-gamble-the-most.html
Other than that US , Canada,. Japan , UK are few of the countries known for their absolute support of the crypto casinos as well.
What about your country as well ??

Singapore being up there makes a lot of sense why so many people like to start with their gambling projects registered there. The tax laws are very favorable to the point that the entire country of Singapore is considered a tax haven. How far they go with regulations on crypto and gambling is interesting. I have yet to see a single Singapore-based gambling business complain about how hard it is in the crypto sector. I have even heard that my countrymen would rather set up shop in Singapore in complicated way just to avoid taxes and regulations....

2812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is better: Ethereum or the Binance Smart Chain? on: May 06, 2022, 08:57:33 AM
Both chains have their own problems that they are dealing with. I myself am a big fan of decentralization. Full, real and authentic decentralization. Which means that Binance Smart Chain is definitely not one of my favorites. It does not really fit into the category of decentralized. More like quasi-decentralised. Which is just another way of saying centralized.

Ethereum on the other hand, is currently trying to solve its ridiculous high fee problem and introduce a scaling solution. But we still will have to wait for a better solution than what ETH has now.
2813  Other / Meta / Re: Would you like to access Bitcointalk though a console? on: May 06, 2022, 08:36:25 AM
I would probably use it for a week to feel like some kind of action movie hollywood hacker who hacked into a secret internet money forum. But, at the end of the day, I don't want to have to run a VM everytime because what kind of hacker uses windows?
2814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pay for coffee with Bitcoin on: May 06, 2022, 08:24:50 AM
Personally, it is something that should happen, an example of this is Gucci, I know it is not like buying a coffee, but Gucci is accepting Cryptocurrencies as forms of payment, it is something that the large markets should have.

Well, you are certainly not entirely wrong. This is something that the large markets do have. The main goal, in the case of Gucci, is to find new loyal customers and partners from a different crowd of people. Its just crypto fans that Gucci is after. Basically just a big PR Stunt do get crypto holders attention towards their own brand and their own company.

Marketing strategies aside, Gucci is not something I would buy even if the price did not bother me. I am a simple person with a simple philosophy: It does not matter whos logo is on your shoes, you're still a walking advertisement. Roll Eyes
2815  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 06, 2022, 01:59:25 AM
Think its fair to say, extremely fair to say that, in Ukraine right now, Both Russians and Ukrainians are doing some retarded, awful, insane, horrific shit to each other, to themselves, and to anyone that happens to be in their path.

That is what happens in a war, including, especially even, the wars we , the west, have started.....

It is not candy and picnics and puppies.

It is not a game to be cheerlead by anyone, and especially not fucking media cunts on any side.

Whole thing is a disaster, from every angle, every vantage point for Ukraine, for Russia, for both of their peoples and their children, and so it also is for the rest of the world.... just wait until those energy and food price hikes really kick in in 6-9 months or so....

....and that is just assuming things do not escalate.

It is a fuckin shit show.

People forgotten what war actually is and what it means. Watching through your windows as your neighbor gets executed for no reason with a bullet to the head.  This is real war. Why everyone wasn't flipping their shit in the past wars, I do not know. This, like every war, was caused by the mistakes of inept politicians. But as with every war, at some point people will stop caring so much at what atrocities happen in a country too far away to care about.

2816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk is for crypto or just for attention to boost Tesla, SpaceX? on: May 05, 2022, 09:58:16 PM
Elon Musk has surrounded himself with people who are much much smarter than him. He himself is no dolt either, so obviously he has understood the potential for crypto. Although I am not sure as to why he would promote Dogecoin. If anything that does make it seem like he is just doing PR with a large audience which he "kidnapped" and made it his own community.

Egomaniac is as egomaniac does.
I think you were correct in this phrase.
He had backers for his takeover bid of the company and they are well known entities in any circle:

I recognize a lot of these as Venture Capitals as they have invested in Binance and other crypto projects before. Such as Sequoia Capital, a16z and many more. So I am guessing Elon's got a mix of his own investors and crypto investors in the game. I wonder why Vitalik Buterin isn't jumping onboard?

Unless this Twitter takeover is a train wreck and Twitter does not become the next Myspace, then we might be seeing a lot of crypto adoption soon. In any case, for the crypto community this is a win-win situation. Or perhaps more of a win-losenothing situation.
2817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin uses energy and does not need to be renewable. on: May 05, 2022, 03:54:30 PM
After seeing so many news about this topic about the imposition of environmental organizations against bitcoin mining, I get the impression that the only objective of this entity in conclusion is to completely shut down these crypto companies; it is very illogical that after observing the change of crypto mining towards renewable energy and showing its impact on the environment, they continue with this fight.

I agree on certain things with the opinion given by Marty Bent in his article, where he expresses his feelings towards btc mining
Quote
Stop acting like a bunch of losers who need to ask permission to make the world a tough place who are making the world a better place.

Bitcoin miners must continue freely with their purpose without the need to be requesting the approval of these defenders, They have already shown enough their mutual concern for improving the environment, and they have applied their respective ecological measures, so it is time to continue doing what they do best, producing bitcoin and creating strategies that benefit both their work and the conservation of the environment that surrounds us.

What do you think? Do you think that this environmental organization should lower its guard?

Source of information: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/bitcoin-will-use-any-type-of-energy-it-wants

I have long been of the belief that blaming Bitcoin on  speeding up the energy crisis we are experiencing is definitely a good argument but even if we were to give humanity more time by not mining Bitcoin (therefore not using energy), we would still fail to recognize the real problem. We need a new energy source, one which is clean and viable on the scale of humanity. If we do not discover/invent a new source of energy then its only a matter of time until humanity is doomed.

Then it won't matter if we had 50 years or 55 years to solve the problem.

We need to protect Earth's ability to sustain life. Nature is a delicate balance, lets not tip the scales.
2818  Economy / Gambling / Re: Another New Rule On Gambling Adverts Ban Celebrities and Sports Stars on: May 05, 2022, 03:38:52 PM
Quoted from bbc.com news

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-60994728
Quote
Starting in October, gambling companies will not be allowed to use stars to target children under 18, the Advertising Practices Committee said.

Anyone with a "strong appeal" to young people, such as footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and Love Island star Chris Hughes, should not appear in advertisements.

The body representing betting companies said it welcomed the new rules.

Michael Dugher, chief executive of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) said the changes build on industry-led measures designed to "raise standards and ensure further protection in advertising."

The Advertising Practices Committee (CAP) said the "hard" new rules were part of its commitment to protecting young people and vulnerable audiences.

The new rules state that gambling and lottery advertisements must not "be a strong attraction to children or youth, especially by reflecting or being associated with youth culture".

References to video game content and gameplay popular with under-18s are also against the new rules.

There is opposition to gambling advertisements among some politicians, parents, and awareness campaigning groups around gambling addiction.

What impact will be received by gambling companies, both fiat and crypto, because we know that gambling companies use celebrities to boost the popularity of these gambling sites?

In terms of promotion, the gambling company may change its strategy in using these celebrities or use an age limit for those allowed to see these advertisements.

But from another perspective, it doesn't seem easy to do because children under 18 years old may already know how to see the ad. But indeed, the problem of gambling addiction is a very serious problem that needs everyone's attention. They can play gambling but with strict terms and conditions.

Again, I have said this before and gladly say it again. What exactly is the basis for measuring which stars are ok for children and which are not? With rules like these, the government could just arbitrarily decide which star is ok and which is not. How long until we have an underground, corrupt system with stars having to buy their right to advertise in the gambling community?

I am against this unless they can prove its helping children.
2819  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a game you would like to see in an online crypto casino? on: May 05, 2022, 02:48:54 PM
Hey Bitcointalkers,

What games do you like to play (mobile, board games, easy game with friends, etc.) that you would love to see put into an online casino for real betting?

There have been a lot of successful yet simple games in online casinos like Heads or Tails, Over/Under, and more. We are looking to see what games you guys love and wonder if we can turn them into an online betting game!

I want to see mortal kombat II and IV Cheesy

I think we do not see too many gambling over fighting games that tickle that feeling of nostalgia for old school gamers. Even Mario games can have gambling odds for each player. We could for example bet on who can do a faster speedrun. The possibilities are endless!

The feeling of nostalgia is totally missing in the gambling world and it needs to be brought in!

Although you might find problems as far as copyright laws or similiar laws go. Im no expert there.
Hahaha, yes, I remember about Mortal Kombat and Mario Bros as I play Mario Bros more often Grin

But I can not imagine how those games integrate with gambling but I think it will be interesting to see it. People who play those old games will love to see the game again as not many of them often memorize the games.

@OP needs to explain more about his idea of creating an online casino so we can know what games he wants to use.
we Gamble in Mortal combat and Mario Brothers also back in the years , actually even DonkeyKong has been used for gambling .

What we do? we Bet if Which level each of us will attain in every given Lives in Donkeykong and MarioBros.

Example , I will go first , what would be the longest stage i will attain before Game over and then my friend will follow.

about Mortal combat? it is given lol, because that is a One on One fight and we can bet either each round or each fight.
In the Mario Bros. game, we gamble about who can finish first will get his pocket money for the week Grin

It looks so adrenaline-pumping at that age that it can make us keep playing until we lose track of time. And a lot of times, I get a smack in my ear from my mom lol.

Well, that's what made me imagine what if the game would be tried to be combined with gambling. Of course, it will give back memories for players like us Grin

In the very realm of the gambling world, we have a lot of stuff that we can easily gamble on. If we were playing Mario Brothers, then one of those things can indeed be gambling on who wins first. But we could also gamble on various other circumstances like for example, who loses 3 lives first or who rides a yoshi first or who defeats a certain boss or even how many tries/minutes it takes for someone to beat a certain level.

The gambling opportunities are endless. You can gamble on anything. Thats why its important to pick the game you like.

Oh wow, great news for ALGO indeed! I was curious as to why the ALGO price was spiking but had not taken a gander at the news yet. But this definitely is wonderful news and I even think I might invest in ALGO and see how things go until the end of the year.

Did they mention when exactly the partnership would be decided and when we got to know more about the details of the actual implementation?

Bitcoin is definitely being supported currently, even during dippy times as now, by the ALGO news! Who knows, it might counterbalance the LUNA FUD Cheesy
I didn't knew about this coin to be honest but is this a really good coin for it to be talk about? But still careful investing on this coin only because it is on hype now because we never knew that once the hype is over, the price of this coin will go down and will never recover again.

For the details in regards to partnerships and other stuffs, you can always check out their social media pages or ask questions directly on their telegram group. A quick google search should give you all their handles. I didn't knew that there's an ongoing fud in luna but this algo news like this, doesn't fix the emotion of those luna supporters as both coins are different.

I would not jump into an investment just because of one good news article. I also do not want to make it seem like I am giving investment advice (which I am not). Any coin or token should be scrutinized with unparalleled severity before it even comes close to being a good investment decision.

ALGO might have gotten really good news now, but they have not been making a lot of noise (big good news) for quite a while now. So this might be a lucky one time thing.

Either way, we should continue observing ALGO, just in case it does prove to be a nice investment.
