I didn't investigate every user on his list, but I think that the previous version of philipma1957's list was probably fine.

There were some accounts with 40 or so posts and no real trade history, which I think is what the jist of the OP was.
2842  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 09, 2015, 09:26:05 PM
I don't know much about electrical stuff so maybe someone can help me. When ever I plug (2) S4 into the same outlet, my circuit breakers always trip off. Anyone know a solution to plug more than 1 S4 into an outlet without my circuit breaker tripping off? How are you guys plugging more than (1) S4 into the same outlet?

Like some pictures I see people running (6+) S4 all lined up.

Find an outlet that is connected to another breaker. Most likely you have 110V 15A or 20A circuit and you won't be able to run more than one S4 on it.

Running multiple S4s involves multiple circuits, 220-240V, wiring for more amps, etc.

Can i just swap the amp out to a larger amp or it's something an electrician needs to do and upgrade.

Most likely wiring needs to be replaced if you want more amps. Definitely consult with an electrician. Installing a breaker that doesn't match wiring is a fire hazard.

As above, the circuit rating is there to protect the wiring. If you want more, you'd need to replace the cabling. Is there another circuit you could run an extension from? That would be the cheapest option.

We're running quite a few S4s in our DC and have yet to have a complete chain go out on us like this. Of course we've tried hard resetting, etc but are curious to know if anyone has any suggestions or experience with a complete chain failure before I open it up and check the blade cables, etc.

Just in case anyone runs into the same thing, it was a ground wire that had worked its way loose.
Back up and hashing.

Glad to hear it.

I have a problem with my Antminer S3+ hoping that someone has an idea:
The miner can not be accessed, neither via WebIF nore via Ping. I bought just bought it used and did not access it yet.
I already tried to reset it, but after powering it only the (upper) red led is blinking regularly. When trying to reset it pushing the button does not change anything at all, the red light keeps blinking in the same intervall all time. Fans are not running.
What can I do? Does anyone have an idea?
Kind regards

He said he had a firmware from december when he received it, but after having trouble with it he downgraded to a firmware from July.
WTF?!? I thought that S3+ support started in firmware from August? I am afraid this might be the problem....
Is there a chance to resurrect it?

I think you can fix it via the serial header on the controller board but it is not an easy task. I have never done it so I would suggest Googling for the info.

Yeah, that's not going to be easy. Follow the alternative subnet instructions in my setup guide to see if you can find it. If not, its likely you'll have to return it to your seller.

what is 12.16 bug fixes

Compared to 1024, fixes restart issue and some very minor stuff.
2846  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 09, 2015, 08:17:33 PM
Today i saw a strange thing in 1 miner which was working good till now. few Asics got dissapeared in 1st row. So i restarted, then half of '0' got replaced with '-' . Again restarted and its working fine now. What is it with this weird behaviour?

Are you referring to soft restarts (interface) or hard restarts (power)?

So, the unit I have that I'm having issues with seems to just lock up. cgminer is still running as the elapsed time, local works and discarded keep going up.
I'm not near the unit to verify if it is actually hot or if the temp sensors are reporting incorrectly, but if they are reporting correctly it would appear that the unit is still at least dissipating a normal amount of heat. It's just not submitting any shares.

Restarting cgminer fixes the problem.

Known bug currently, sorry about that. Soft (usually) or hard reboots will clear it. In terms of frequency, I had this happen once in the first 24 hours, and then never again.
When they do lock up like that, are they chips still doing work? The temps reported were the same as when the unit is under full load, so it would seem that it is unless the temp values stop reporting at that point as well.
The old Gen1 Avalon minis would do that as well. I could deal with a miner crashing and going down, but those stupid things would crash and sit there burning 600W until they were power cycled. They're the reason all my gear is on networked PDUs now. Tongue

Note: After the cgminer restart the unit ran for 40 minutes and then crashed again.

Tongue Crashed again, ran for an hour but down for the last 40 minutes. I flashed to 0107, we'll see if that helps.

In my case, no. Only one module stopped mining during the freeze [can see on pool], but both temperatures + RPMs had frozen on the dashboard.

What PSU are you on? This is the first generation where 12V load balancing [12.3V under load or 11.6V etc] so would be good to know for information's sake.
2848  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: January 09, 2015, 08:10:21 PM
Hey Dogie,
Any experience losing a whole chain? Can't seem to restore it after a hard restart. Should I open it up and check the blade?

No, that's quite unusual if its after a hard reset. Yes give it a check inside. After that, try changing frequency and voltage as that can sometimes kickstart a misbehaving module. After that, try swapping over power cables from one of the other modules and see if the dead module 'moves'. Let me know how you get on.

I always check md5.  Please keep contacting them  I give up for now

You're free to use whatever firmware you feel comfortable on. If you're stable and have acceptable hash rate on one firmware, there isn't a rush to update to new releases.

Anyone who does not have the 10/24/2014 firmware, here it is. I had to go back to this firmware to get my units working correctly.

and 1219 is here = 1024 but with working reset button

Can I get some beta testers for a new S3 firmware please? Download link is here, it *should* be good to go but as you know....

Rolls back to the last good patch in Oct (1024), but fixes voltage adjustment and the important reset button. Hopefully.... let me know.

It isn't new it is used.
Is there another way to login? ssh?
Do you hold the reset while powered on or off?

Did you ask the seller? Where did you buy it? Also does it appear to be hashing? (eg.. leds flashing, generating heat)

As above, the simplest way is going to be to ask the reseller. You'd know if the reset button was going to work or not, which it doesn't sound like it is. Fixing things via SSH is not an easy task.

Contact your seller and let us know how you get on.

I've got a sick blade it seems:

Changed the PSU, checked the cables, rebooted, flashed the unit but still this. Sad

When you say rebooted, does that include hard reboots? If so, you can try getting it to wake up with a frequency change and another hard reboot. If still nothing then PM BitmainWarranty to arrange an RMA. Be sure to link to your post describing the issues, what type and how many miners you wish to have repaired/replaced and your bitmaintech.com order number.

I have an S3 which showed up today I can not log in.
I do get to the screen where you enter the login and pass and I enter root / root no luck. I tried root / admin no luck. I powered off and pressed the hole beside the cat 5 LEDs for ten seconds, tried again with new browser window, same thing, tried with it powered on, same thing. What am I missing here please. It must be something dumb but it is driving me mad. I had another one from ebay show up doa today.

If you bought it used then prior owner may have changed the password?

Wouldn't "factory defaults" set it to a default password?

All good suggestions, although its not an easy flash if you can't login. Reset button will likely be broken due to shipping with November firmware if its new.
2855  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 09, 2015, 11:49:32 AM
I'm able to connect to the miner again but it's not hashing. Here are the screenshots:

What PSU are you using?

Thank you very much for responding.
An Aerocool Strike-X 1100W 90A at +12V; but the PSU cannot be causing any problems, it has to be a network thing because as I said the miner worked perfectly at my home (previous location) during more than 20h and everything was ok. Now I'm trying to make it work from an office at university, I do not need any login to access the internet, I just got a router and connected it to a RJ45 from the wall, internet works nicely, the miner does not.

Any ideas? Is it maybe a ports thing?

It could be internet related as part of the problem but it wouldn't usually display like that - you'd just get pools with no connection. It very much looks like a hardware issue with the main culprit being power [as you have no modules shown]. PSUs can die at the most random times as well.

The last thing you can try is updating the C1's firmware to the latest version, but I don't think that's your problem, and you'll need a second PSU to test.
2856  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: January 09, 2015, 11:43:15 AM
Is there an issue with the Corsair PSU or is it some setting on the S3 that's causing the issue?

My firmware is from "Wed Nov 26 18:04:24 CST 2014 "....

No, your PSU is fine. Update to the latest firmware, as its a known firmware bug on that version.
2857  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 09, 2015, 11:40:56 AM
OK I opened mine up and cleaned all that paste out, I forgot the stuff between the heatsink and the PCB..... shouldnt matter that much on that side.

Arctic Silver (Silver Oxide thermal paste)

You should NOT use AS5 on a unit like this which has exposed pins and other electronics on the PCB. AS5 is conductive and may cause problems. Additionally, its thermal conductivity is only a 1/10th of what they claim it to be, is 4x less than other competitors and up to 5x more expensive. You can see the full independent paper here, results on page 8.

Good to know. I did check make sure it wasn't touching the pins.
Very interesting white paper.
So what do you recommend then to be used generally?

After reading the paper yesterday, now I'm not sure. I'll probably trackdown one of those unknown brands mentioned but for now I'm finishing my tube of ceramique.

He told me that test unit will be sent to dogie... Dogie still keeps silence about it...

he told me the same thing anonymously decided !

Because "dogie will test it" provides no credence that "dogie will have something to test".
2859  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer U3 Setup [HD] on: January 09, 2015, 02:52:40 AM
Any good recommendations for a raspberry pi based controller that supports the U3?

Raspian, Minera, MinePeon, anything that will get you cgminer.
2860  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 09, 2015, 02:49:00 AM
Funny... I used AS (white version) and it seemed to "fix" my zombie issue.

Perhaps it's more a matter of how well the compound is applied versus its conductivity.

Do you mean arctic ceramique? That's specifically designed for open chip designs [ie GPUs, miners] as its nearly non conductive.
