2041  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 14, 2015, 12:20:31 AM
AMHash theoretically involves 5 Parties (Operator, Manufacturer, HashLord, Contract Platform, Contract Holder)

Who is the "HashLord" in this situation?

This crisis won't be solved overnight. If a solution is reached it's likely gonna be a 2 year plan or some form of agreeable settlement.

Surely the immediate solution should be to find out who stole the stock and get it back? It can't be easy to walk off with several PH and no one have a clue...

Best case scenario: they get investors with fresh money, giving them a priority deal - diluting current shareholder's stake worse than 1:1 on new capital.

But that's not an option:

Introduction
ASICMINER is a virtual identity totally held by investors of the Bitfountain company. The Bitfountain company's business includes mining with self-built ASIC devices, as well as the sales of them. Currently ASICMINER shareholders holds 163,962 shares, while Bitfountain shareholders holds 236,038 shares. ASICMINER shares have the privilege of getting all net profits till 0.1BTC/share from the day when dividends began to be paid. They also have the exemption of dilution, which means that each ASICMINER share always equals to 1/400,000 of the total profits and voting power of the summed value from both ASICMINER and Bitfountain.

What that doesn't mention or protect against is some shares being changed class to a higher priority, so that an investor could queue up ahead of other shareholders in the event of liquidation.
2043  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 14, 2015, 12:15:59 AM
They got no insurance (Which is pretty cheap),...

I doubt you will find an insurance company that will make an insurance for bitcoin miner. If you start to explain them that they are extremely valuable devices that will be valuable for 3 months only though then they will send you out of office fast. Its simply a real nice risk. So i think it was unavoidable that no insurance was there. Or was there an insurance for the big mining farm that burned down some weeks ago?

Of course you can get insurance, I'm surprised you don't if you're mining on any sort of scale.

It doesn't matter that hashrate was provided by AM, the business agreement was still not signed by AM as a company only friedcat. Any funds available should in my opinion go towards wafers for a chance to resurrect AM or the company should be dissolved and funds distributed among shareholders.

*signed by friedcat in his official capacity as employee and CEO of AM?
2044  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Avalon4 with global shipping can be purchased here! on: March 13, 2015, 11:45:39 PM
Bitmain S5s sales at the prices required by Bitmain today are almost zero.

That's not true, and prices were dropped again.

For Avalon to sell significant volumes price needs to be equal or better than the SP20s that is u$s 310 (1000 GH x $0.31) including shipping.

The SP20 doesn't exist, its irrelevant.
2045  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF3301 Tapeout Complete [Updated 10/3/15] on: March 13, 2015, 07:44:35 AM
This is about the same time Spondoolies tech launched last year. Please follow in their footsteps and be just as good!

That would be a hard act to follow, but lets hope they are. Free us from this Chinese oppression so that we may make some sort of profits  Cool

Oppression?

Like BFL, Bitfury, Black Arrow (Non-chinese owned), Bitmine, KNC or Hashfast did so well to relieve our dependence on Chinese fabricators?

Right now all you got is Chinese or Israeli. Or really all you got is used products as nothing off the shelf available currently that you could trust.

It is a market place Avalon gouged, BFL gouged, ASICminer definitely gouged. Prices didn't drop until there was competition. I don't a slight up tick in price 20% as huge gouge compared to the past levels. Sfards is months out so it is USED equipment which is readily available as many many people are dumping their units to recoup / make tidy profits since they are probably almost break even on a lot of this hardware.

Mining is not the right move bottom line given the price of BTC at this time. Too risky given when price could bump up the mega farms will roll out more hash power and bury the little guys again.

That is indeed true, while the track record of Chinese companies is at least marginally better:

Bitmain
Avalon (... for a time)
Canaan Creative
ASICMiner (... for a time)
XBTech (although Russian time)
BitCrane
And a hell of a lot of smaller ones.
2046  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF3301 Tapeout Complete [Updated 10/3/15] on: March 13, 2015, 07:17:53 AM

The SF3301 is the first of a new generation of dual-algorithm mining chips, the world’s first 28nm with the capability to mine SHA-256 and Scrypt simultaneously. The advantages of this ability translate to an extended period of effectiveness for the miner and increased profitability.

By using FDSOI technology not currently present in any other chip on the market, power efficiency when mining with SHA-256 is predicted to reach below the 0.3 J/GH range, and 2.0 J/MH when mining with Scrypt.

why do both types on mining in a single device? On a single chip at that? is it really practical to design two complex slgorithms in a single chip, instead of producing a sha256-miner and a scrypt-miner?

sorry - but a picture of a front desk doesnt do it for me, and I hope you dont go looking for a pre-order

At this point if they're taping out without customer funds I'd certainly hope they're not going to as there shouldn't be a need. Batches I'd totally understand as it also gives some redundancy to teething issues, but only once machines are actually tested and characterised.
2047  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer C1 Setup [HD] on: March 13, 2015, 07:13:40 AM
You guys ever think that BitMain will be releasing an AntMiner C2 with the BM1384 chips? Maybe 2+ TH in a single unit?

I don't think its likely on this generation as the exchange rate wasn't good at the start of the gen. You can still make unofficial 'C2s' with SysCooling's kits and either stock S5s or S5 kits if you can convince Bitmain to sell you some.
2048  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer C1 Setup [HD] on: March 13, 2015, 07:11:57 AM
Hi there, thanks for trying to help. When I got home I did a overall reset, turned it off for a few minutes and set everything back up with 2 notches above factory setting. I'm back at about 930gh/s average which is good enough for me. I appreciate you trying to help though! Smiley

I think C1 boards have a higher attrition rate than S3 boards as they seem to drop chips and eventually boards much quicker. One of my C1s is down about 1.3 hashing boards while the other is [was] fine.
2049  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 13, 2015, 07:05:56 AM
Anyone know what model the stock fan is on the S5? And if they are any other 35mm fans out there that can keep the S5 cool at ambient temps?

Also don't waste your money on getting the Corsair SP120 fans. While they are quiter than the Noctua's the temps will rise over 60c pretty much %100 of the time.

Which is absolutely fine, that's the same as an S5 in 35-40C ambients. SP120s are the quietest you can get an S5 - within reasonable bounds.

Using two SP120's temps rose to 65c right away, and it was cool in my house. Soon as the warmer months come that S5 will fry up. Used two Noctua 3000 and temps were 10c less in same room. Nothing special at all about the Corsairs.

As I said before, 65C is fine which you can improve by taping the top and bottom of the heatsinks closed. SP120s are quieter than the 3000's but slower, because that's the speed they're designed to run at. Neither fan is "better" than the other - they're just different.

I need some originating ip addresses of the emails and attacks.

You also need https migration features to protect against ddos.  Cloudflare has features like this.

I believe I have one of the attackers already identified,  please msg me when you have time. Smiley

If you'd read any of the last 10 pages you'd know that Bitmain (on my advice) was already on cloudflare and is at the highest level of protection state.
2051  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 13, 2015, 07:01:26 AM
What is the best way to contact support?

My payment is not being acknowledged by Bitmain even though I paid with BTC immediately after my order. Blockchain proves it.

I posted the details on here earlier but then removed them.

I just want to make sure that I am getting my S5!

The ticket system on your account works well for order related enquires, or you can go straight to ZenDesk.
2052  Other / Meta / Re: How can I become a staff here? on: March 12, 2015, 05:41:24 PM
What I ask is as the subject stated. How much trust does we need? How many post before required?
I can be a staff here by working on the works of deleting SPAM posts here for free (however my rank is still low in the forum). What is the minimum requirements?
Why would you want it? To be "force"?
Staff member is same as regular, only they have alot of work. Real pain in the axx. You'd need to be a judge with permanent decisions.

And be hated for it.
2053  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 12, 2015, 05:34:30 PM
Its likely an effect of the DDOS, site is on cloudflare so any outages should be very brief.

They shouldn't have to deal with a ddos attack.  It's a shame that someone threatened bitmain at all.  I was very upset at how they handled their price increase this week, but a ddos attack is ridiculous. I think they have handled that perfectly!

I applaud them for not caving in to the ransom.

I agree. Never cave in to them. The ddostards should concentrate their computing efforts on mining cryptocurrency.

You mean their 24 hours of hired botnet capacity? Tongue Its rented for a cost and they're just hoping they can ransom more than that cost.
2054  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 12, 2015, 03:12:03 PM
i don't appreciate that the site if sniffing my browser before connecting.
Sniffing your browser?  It really doesn't care much about your browser other than whether or not it is capable of some simple string manipulation and math.  It's the most basic level of defense against trivial DDoS's.
( It's sufficiently basic that a bot I wrote happily grabs the challenge, solves it, submits it, gets the cookie, re-accesses with the cookie, and grabs the data, then re-uses that cookie until the site decides the cookie expired and it starts over again.  I'll have to see how it fares with bitmain's site. )
You're sending vastly more information to a site about your browser just accessing a page in the first place.

Why do i need to see the message that the site is checking my browser for DDOS?
I certainly do not need to see that snippet-it should be done in the background.

Probably PR. They want people to know they're testing for it, so the non-technical folks will be comforted?

Well, they want to explain why the site that normally takes 30-40ms to load is now taking 5+ seconds.

Site is offline again. It is crashing when I click the 'Add to Cart' button

EDIT: Working now.

Its likely an effect of the DDOS, site is on cloudflare so any outages should be very brief.

i don't appreciate that the site if sniffing my browser before connecting. it is not cool. if every site would had that annoying message, people would get upset.

You can read more about the DDOS protection technology here.

It's nice to see that the price is 369 USD now. Good job, Bitmain! Keep lowering!  Roll Eyes

more ddos + new manufacturers + people leaving antpool = lower price ?

"Customer feedback". They do listen.
2059  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Strange S5 Occurances - Solve it get a btc reward on: March 12, 2015, 06:34:24 AM
I can run it on 2x CX750Ms, one PSU per board. Yes, no? Would that reduce the load on each PSU so much that efficiency goes out the window?

Yes that's fine, efficiency wouldn't be noticeably impacted.
