Something as generic as campaign sigs is unlikely to be allowed as its targeting... well... everyone. If there was a niche of people they would be targeting then sure, else its unsolicited. Btw your sig is struggling at wide page widths, the bottom line separate and stays left aligned.
1862  Other / Meta / Re: What can I do? on: April 07, 2015, 04:39:51 PM
Can I just give you the 0.02btc? This isn't worth your time or effort. PM me details, I'm going to bed soon.
1863  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon4.1 Fan speeds on: April 07, 2015, 10:20:37 AM
Mine was set at 20 and in the raspberry pi image it say's thats default.  I posted most of my info over in: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1008726.0

*I should add I am running it underclocked so I have had no need to turn it up.

It must have been dropped in later firmwares as mine came stock'ed up higher. For home use 20 is great, you won't be able to hear it. If you know you're going to put it in a 35C shed, then give it some breathing room back at 60. Even then its very quiet.
1864  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: April 07, 2015, 10:17:31 AM
As I understand, the S5 is on the order of 40 to 50% more efficient than the S3.  The S3 is rated at around 360W at the wall and the S5 around 590W at the wall.  Expect a 2 to 4% greater efficiency with Gold Vs Bronze supply.

Thanks for reply

I want to know exact unit to calculate electric bill. 1 unit = 1000 watts so how much time it will take for antminer s5/s3 to reach 1 unit of electricity with normal smps.
An example:  My electricity cost is 14.5 cents per KWH (KiloWattHour). To run an S5 at 350MHz for one day costs me approximately (0.145USD)*(590W)*(24hours)/1KWH = 2.0532USD per S5 per day.  I'd probably round it to 2 USD/day.

[In words]

A unit's power consumption in KW * hours it runs for (ie 24 for a day) = KWH of electricity used. KWH * price per KWH = price per day.

Where I live I am not legallt allowed to do wiring and, if caught, it could void my house insurance. Chance to get caught = zero unless I fuck up wiring and investigators discover that as source of a fire. I just pay the electrician and be done with it. I had a 20 AMP 120V put in 1 week ago for $100.

That is exactly the right approach, it doesn't even come close to risking all to save a few $ upfront. Even if you think you can do it youself, you can't issue yourself the right paperwork and probably aren't legally qualified.
1865  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Avalon4 with global shipping can be purchased here! on: April 07, 2015, 10:11:50 AM
well, in that case i look forward to avalon making a larger, affordable unit (something rackmountable and <4U in size) that is similarly quiet.

S3 noise is the ideal for me - tucked in the back corner of a stockroom it is audible but not overbearing

They won't compete with the chips already being designed and the market has dried up for home miners.

Like which? And how do you know how Avalon4+ / Avalon5 performs?
1866  Other / Meta / Re: Disappearing OPs on: April 07, 2015, 08:39:19 AM
I've seen those topics, They were machine translations and poor to get translation bounty.

Probably EAL deleted them.

I guess I need to work on my translations if they seem like machine translations  Tongue

Roastcat might be able to help you with that Tongue If you can find him that is.

[Apologies for the extremely meta joke references]

Great news today from HC, I got the order confirmation document through email, which means it’s a matter of 6/7 weeks till I get my Uranus Miner.

(edit to make smaller)

Best of luck to you.  It looks like they already pushed it to may on document, it does not say only april.

I still find it hard to believe it's in "*Uranus is in the stage of testing and certification." at this point.   I just honestly don't think they have the chips, but I could be wrong.  It's all my opinion.  Still does just show a rendering....

My guess is they'll license someone elses chips, so timelines might be even more vague.
1868  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Avalon4 with global shipping can be purchased here! on: April 06, 2015, 05:38:42 AM
I can see your point on price, I cannot argue that.  But on noise I find it hard to believe it will match the avalon without more mod or cold ambient to  help.   I didn't believe how quiet they are till I got one for fun.   I litarly cannot hear it in my room.  I can hear my projector over it which is not a super loud projector.

i havent personally heard the avalon, but noise is secondary to well-priced hashrate right now

Oh nevermind, I read your "you can make the S5 quieter" as "you can make the S5 quieter [than the Avalon4]".

Its a wording thing, he wasn't trying to say he could get the S5 quieter than .... 0 ...., but rather you can make the S5 quieter than a stock S5. There are probably 10 things in my room which are louder than my Avalon4, including my old monitor. Avalon4 is confirmed witchcraft.
1869  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain tech support and warranty on: April 06, 2015, 05:36:40 AM
please send the details to support@bitmain.zendesk.com

Also, if you want to keep it publish here for the response, sure, please let us know which one hashes at the spec within -5%?

if you could, please list 1-6 with damaged parts that need replacement (Non-hashing item or under performing parts)

Also, what country this RMA needs to go to?  USA, EU or Russia-Ukraine?

Thanks!

Tupsu is Estonian, so EU.

I was unable to find an escrow agent to run the raffle, and so all eligible entries received the prize instead. A total of 9x $20 rewards were issued, with a further 2x $20 pending on the users replying.
1871  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer C1 Setup [HD] on: April 06, 2015, 01:47:19 AM
Awesome guide as always! Got my new C1 up and running. Nice and quiet and currently averaging 1013GH at under 50°

Glad to hear it, let us know if you have any problems.

Nice product, but very overpriced.
Shipping for one piece (ehash) 0,6BTC? It is aprox. 144USD (if BTC 240) !! And almost no discount for shipping if more pieces.
(Bitmain S5 - 55USD only and if more pieces under 30USD)

For that price does not make any sense to buy.

The premium price is for the quiet it provides.
This is a great product if you have an office space with free power .

Put an s-5 in your office and see what your boss thinks.

Many places have a need for a space heater even in the summer. Due to Air Conditioning  that is controlled by the landlord not the tenant.
My friend rents 20%  of the top floor of  a bank.  He pays 20% of the power bill  as he is a sublet to the main tenant .
He is underheated in the winter and over a/c in the summer.   Right now I have 2 s-3's in his office they have been running since July of 2014.
I will replace with these s-3's with my avalon 4.1's in late May.

So this is a perfect piece of equipment for his needs.

You are correct that is costs a lot it is not for a big farm

not a worthwhile premium. you can make the antminer S5 quieter with a $5-20 fan mod and a little underclocking. The S3 is the alternative, and very inexpensive.

I want 10TH of equipment today, and honestly neither avalon of bitmain are appealing options

Which fans are you talking about? Even modded the S5 is no where near the sound level of the Avalon4.
1874  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Prisma 2.0 on: April 05, 2015, 11:27:36 AM
I have some friends with the "Tube" miner and they did not have any issues with them besides the loudness of them. You could try and find a tube since it is similar to a Prisma just smaller.

I really liked the Tube for raising the bar on package efficiency. I can't think of a mainstream miner before the Tube that used so few non hashing board parts, or a miner that managed 800W off a single 120mm fan. Some didn't like the controllers and they were rather vulnerable to damage though.
1875  Other / Meta / Re: [Serious] Avatar Rules Discussion on: April 05, 2015, 08:48:44 AM

Personal Option:

1) No need for pornograpy to be on a Bitcoin forum.

Nudity =/= Porn. I don't understand why people always make this connection. People shower nude is that pornographic? People are born nude, is that pornographic?

Wut. If you made a video of you naked in the shower, is that pornographic? If someone recorded you being born, is that pornographic? No, but its still not something your employer would want you to be passively exposed to.

tldr, naked people have nothing to do with bitcoin or bitcointalk.org, bosses don't like naked people.

-snip-
I don't think, it is only a "cartoon's girl". It is not a real girl and I don't think that you can't categorize it just NSFW.

just my 2 cents.

If thats a common view here I can accept that and just stop reading from work, but I know when I scroll past that and my boss in behind me I will have problems.

Maybe turn avatars off if it's going to be a problem but won't he have a problem with you not working? I can't imagine most bosses being okay with their employees browsing forums during work.

Depends what they're being used for. I used to spent a lot of time trawling excel based forums while at work, to work out how to do certain advanced things. Although what use this forum has at work, I'm not sure.
1877  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain tech support and warranty on: April 05, 2015, 07:49:40 AM
Systems and teams are being implemented all over the place. Its not easy growing from 0 to $XXM in a year.

Specifically, how do you know this?  (reference please).

Because I work with them. Don't expect replies normally if you quote 6 week old things.
1878  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Tube Setup [HD] on: April 05, 2015, 07:37:18 AM
Hey thanks for this I got my tube setup and everything is swell.

I want to water-cool my tube, I know this is unnecessary and probably a bad idea but humor me.

It seems like most water-blocks are designed for CPU's or graphics cards, is there a pre-existing solution I could put on the opposite end of the fan to draw some of the heat into water?

I've been looking for 120mm case fans that might have a copper plate on the back and a water reservoir but cant find anything like that.

I was even thinking about running a copper pipe through the hollow center and stopping just shy of the fan, and attaching the other end to a cold water source.

What do you think?

I think don't bother really. The amount of heat transfer you'll get from hot air to an improvised block will be minimal. If you want more cooling, add a second fan. If you want quieter cooling, get 2 Corsair SP120s.
1879  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: April 04, 2015, 02:33:20 PM

Ofcourse, you need tools (that's a no-brainer) ... a dremel would be a good start .... but definitely not a task to be undertaken by feeble minded at DIY. But like I said, not that hard (does not mean it is easy!)

Roll Eyes Having worked at my family's machine shop, programming CNC mills/lathes and Wire EDM's for a few years, if you can do what you're saying with a dremel and have it actually work, I'm sure we ALL would love to see that.  Cheesy

Indeed. Pekatete is clearly so much better than us that I'd love for him to teach us how to manufacture high grade heatpipes from scratch. Because its easy, you know.

What on earth has it to do with you (dogie and bitchie) if it costs more or is hard to fabricate? This is a case of nit-picking gone mad. The initial post was somebody wondering whether a copper heatsink would work better, and I actually concur with them as copper is a better heat conductor than aluminium, but of course (EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS!) more expensive.

And for a person who claims to have worked in a family machine shop, apparently programming CNC mills and wire EDM's, this has to be a walk in the park! But hey, there have also been claims of people being millionaires at 13 and I would not be surprised if the two (pathological liars) are the same person.

It 'has to do with me' when you attacked me for no reason. If you don't like what I'm posting, ignore me like I do to you.

.... I wish a company made a copper option with heatpipes,  could make a huge difference for overclocking.

Should not be that hard to fabricate on your own .... just need to find out what thickness of the copper slab to get, slice some slots / channels in it and then split a few copper tubes to for the fins that are slid into the slots. All you are left to do is drilling tapped holes for attaching the PCB. I wonder how cost efficient it would be though for just a handful of units ..... ?

Doesn't sound that easy to me. Unless you have a machine shop and all the tools necessary as well as the skills to do properly. Grin

Heatpipes aren't something you can do yourself easily, they're not very use friendly to craft. Generally though, there wouldn't be much point making extreme stock heatsinks which add $40 and 400g of weight to everyone elses shipments when their additional capacity is going to be used by very few.

You've raised your ugly head again .....
If you find dealing with heatpipes difficult, leave it to those who don't (both in practice and comments). No one asked you to add these to your homebrews, and unlike you, most people are not penny-pinching skinflints ....

On another note, to do it properly, it is not financially feasible for a few extra GH/s, considering the time and costs involved.

That's like saying you want to add 15HP to your toyota corolla by spending 30-50% of the value of the car itself and only gaining about 4HP at the end..  Cheesy Grin
