I'd say real close. Same type of sound ( low hum ) not high whine. I had five S3+'s and my 2 Ant S2's are about the same in db.
Ahh perfect. Thanks. There are no Youtube videos and most people say they are either very quiet and some say they are very loud. Don't want my wife to be upset. Personally I prefer the S2's noise. If you can give it 25C air its very reasonable. I felt that the S3's high RPM fans were always audible over the S2 which is a feature of them being 120mm rather than 140mm.

What is the best way to overheat the miner to check if it will shut down at 80C?
Put something infront of the front fan?
disconnecting the fan, is probably easier Stick it in a small closet with no ventilation. It will slowly overheat itself. Please don't try that method, the aim of your experiment is to get the chips toasty [if they are heating up], not oven bake the entire board. There are plenty of other components on the boards which require cooling, and will more than likely fail before the chips do.

What you are asking is just the thing Scam Accusations threads are designed for
No its not, at all. Currently if I say you attack old ladies at night, and leave it like that.... you can't force me to provide evidence. I can just keep repeating it again and again in random threads. I'm not opening a scam accusation against you - why would I, I made it up. And so you don't have a venue to prove your innocence.

So, theymos is kind of a multi millionaire huh.
Donations be donatin' then appreciatin'.

Another important issue is that someone's found an effective way to register and control multiple accounts. That's not a good thing.

Did anyone else notice it says "stake"? I'm sure I read this thread a few days ago and thought it said "state".

Do you think its still profitable to mine LTC with 3X256 mh/s ? Does it means that i can mine like 20 ltc per day ?
Depends on your initial cost, and power cost. These use quite a bit of power so you need cheap electricity. Or cold mansions

Ouch A lot cheaper in the USA even with exchange factored in!
Wow, that's a crazy markup. Where do you live? Canuckistan [That means Canada btw ]

If you bricked S5 controller's firmware, it can be restored depends on how badly it is messed up the internal firmware by using the MicroSD card. You can reboot S5 from a bootable MicroSD card with S5 bootable image on them. Once you booted S5 from the MicroSD card, please SSH into the S5 and run this command and it will fix the internal firmware issues. If you are not familier with this process, you can always request a live tech to remote into your computer, create a bootable recovery MicroSD card for you and run this SSH with you. /etc/init.d/pgnand.sh Bootable Image can be downloaded from here: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203461209-Jan-7-Firmware-ImageYou can use this file to restore any MicroSD card (preferably 4GB card) with HDD GURU's Raw Disk Copy Tool that is free to download on the Internet. Unfortunately mine is too far gone, nothing to SSH to to run the command. I did confirm the .imgc works though and have rehosted on mega here in case of DDOS. 4GB is minimum size of SD card. Also rejigged it into a .img [zipped] if people prefer that format, hosted on mega here.

Well Philipma1957 does unbiased reviews here and is limited on the power to keep doing new reviews. What do you do with your old miners? I think his point was that opening the box, plugging it in and running for a day before advertising it for sale doesn't help us much. I personally run my units until they die, or I'm really at 100% capacity. I like to see exactly where the other end of the bathtub curve is, when the units fail, why and how. That tells us a lot.

Better to buy 1155GH/s from Hashnest www.hashnest.comAntminer S5 Power: 0.51w/GHS Maintenance Fee:$0.001175/GHS/Day Then you see yourself, is S5 profitable or not. I couldn't understand that site plus apart from bitmain, I am not going to any coinflare-slowed website. Cloudflare is a great service. Not only does it cache websites locally for everyone in the world (rather than 400ms ping to Chinese servers), it provides DDOS protection. Bitmain and several other Bitcoin services are under attack because they did not pay ransoms. On top of all that, Cloudflare does it for FREE. Cloudflare is free ? Yes, the vast majority of features are free (including the local geo-caching and DDOS protection). There are premium services you can use to further increase website loading speeds including various forms of compression, but I've never used or needed them.

Dogie, I know you want to keep dismissing that this could be a bug in the firmware so would you go on a deal with me here? I'll pull my fan connector off while it is hashing to see if the miner stops operating and protects itself when it hits 80c. I'll perform this if you promise me a new S5 if I burn my rig up? I'm not dismissing anything, I'm hypothesising while BW has units in hand and is testing. My unit needs a fresh controller otherwise I'd test mine to destruction. Whatever you do to your own unit you do at your own risk. Oh, I thought you were "in" with Bitmain and could get another S5 fairly quickly if yours blew up while testing for the team? Fresh controller? Your controller died or something? I am, not emailed yet. Bricked a controller trying variations of the SD card OS instructions, never got them to work. So, same controller as the C1 but not using the micro-SD card? The normal S5 controller, just getting the SD card slot working as a backup OS in case someone bricks their controller. Didn't have luck, unsure if it was persued internally. Are you able to boot from the SD card like you can on the C1? No, it never worked as I said.

@live and @hotmail you have to manually add the site to whitelist or it won't even appear in your spam. I had the same issue.

If it is really happening a lot you could use M's antminer monitor and have it automated to reboot if drop in hash that far.
M's monitor program only alerts you, it doesn't actually reboot the miner. Can also SSH into it and type in "reboot" if you can't access the WebGui. I think there's an API script floating about that reboots miners every X hours, to fully automate and minimise downtime. Still not a perfect solution but works if you know you're not going to be able to supervise a unit.

He does, but remember he is also accountable for his actions for being in default trust.

I think they are part legit. They had 2 different miners ship?
That's what I've been basing my opinions on. Both the Apollo and Ares met expectations. I'm yet to see any evidence for or against the Zeus, nor any aggrieved customers (which is the most important thing). Maybe they never existed, maybe they are misleading, but what can we do without evidence... On your opinion (or manufacture rating) the Uranus 6TH/s is said to be released in Q1 2015 and is a pre-order. I would think that would factor against it in about a month or so when Q1 is over? That category does include compensation / the damage done to consumers so it usually has to be done slightly retrospectively. HC could offer additional cloud mining to make up for any devaluation, which I think they did last time?
