How is the LMDB testing gong?

I am confused - I thought that the blockchain db upgrade has been release a few months ago?

You can compile it yourself via github, but there is no official tagged release yet (see my previous post).

This says it pretty much -> https://twitter.com/fluffyponyza/status/611064391975481344. Performance nigglies are being worked on. However, no ETA is known (yet). Just be patient. You can also follow the github for other developments -> https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/commits/master

In addition, why it is important the performance nigglies are solved perfectly:

It's worked on Windows since quite near the beginning. What you probably read is that we were making a platform agnostic blockchain import format, which we've also subsequently completed. There are performance issues we're dealing with at the moment, and we have to get those 100% right, else we could end up with a network fork (half of the network on the database version and half on the in-RAM version).

Cryptsy should be online with XMR by the 1st September. All new exchanges, fiat or otherwise, can only be a good thing.

What's the latest in regards to this Chinese translation? I think we had gotten 600-800 XMR or so, but needed an organiser...?

I'm sure a token organiser's fee could be factored into the bounty.

Care to reveal where you'd get this info? I hope it is true though, more exchanges means more awareness and easier access to buying Moneroj.

Juxtaposed against the rumor that Cryptsy was imminently adopting XMR as part of it's interface upgrade, Horus (of Cryptsy) since confirmed (circa mid-June) that ETA is approx 1-2 months, but less than 3.

Cryptsy and ETA's.. I have to see that trading pair before I believe it Tongue

I know you can hop on github and follow the commits... but not everyone in here is able to translate that into something meaningful.

When the devs are busy, maybe some of the technically adept monero supporters could translate it and put it in this thread now and then?

That is a good suggestion. if someone wants to take it on i volunteer to answer questions that might come up about the purpose of or function of various commits and pull requests.

Perhaps it would be a good idea if you made some kind of digest like GingerAle did, but then with the week's commits? If it requires too much of your free time, the funding system would be a proper place to get some funds for it in my opinion. Furthermore, like Gingerale, I guess you'll receive some donations without even asking for it.

Good time to buy into XMR now with the dip in price?

The 0.0017-0.0019 area has historically been a great support zone, so I would advise to place your bids according to that. Furthermore, dollar cost (or btc cost) averaging is key with this kind of volatility.
2907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 26, 2015, 11:35:56 PM
Not sure where else to put this...

I'm selling 10k XMR @ 0.002. PM me.

Do you perhaps want to reveal what the reason for this sell is?

EDIT: If you don't want to state this publicly, you could also PM me.

On the topic of bounties, I am looking for someone to create tutorial videos for Monero.

I'd prefer someone who is somewhat of an established community member.

Tutorials will cover getting started in windows & linux, mining, and secure storage.

Please PM me for more information. We can negotiate pricing for each tutorial. These will be of great use to a lot of newcomers.

If I recall correctly, GingerAle already did some tutorials for getting started. So I would advise to PM him!

On the GetMonero.org website there are quite a few pages under the Knowledge Base tab still needing content. Could these be completed before anyone is recruited to translate? No point paying for translations twice, if you know what I mean.

I'll contribute 25 XMR to this translation fund too. Just PM me when payment is needed.

If you want, you can work on it by yourself. Just submit a pull request -> https://github.com/monero-project/monero-site

Stole this a bit from the DASH thread, but this could be very useful for XMR as well:

https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/dash/

Small bottleneck though, someone has to add all English things first, but after that people can easily translate it into their own language.

I like the idea behind transifex, but it could turn out to be too slow. checking the progress bars for the dash project, there is 65% of chinese done after 1.5month. not sure if there is any estimate on how long the rest including the checking will take. since we're targeting a single market right now, getting a translator directly might be the faster option.

I concede that it could turn out too slow and I should revise my comment a bit. It was more meant for translating in general. I agree that for the Chinese part it would be better to getting a direct translator.

I need your help!

Please email support@mail.btc38.com and ask them to add Monero

BTC38 is a very important altcoin exchange in China.

Chinese care about privacy but most are not aware of Monero yet.

BTC38 will like our volume. Someone from the dev team should also work with them to make sure they set things up correctly.  Perhaps they would be a good test case for the first exchange to use an integrated address and payment ID

Do you want us to email them in English? I think we would stand more of a chance if, for instance, you emailed them in Chinese.

Agree on the bolded part and I think the devs would certainly help with integrating as long as one of their devs speaks proper english.

PS: Monero is already on there, just not as trading pair -> http://www.btc38.com/altcoin/xmr/

It would be very beneficial if some Chinese people would start writing about Monero on Chinese crypto currency websites/forums.  Getting some of the more relevant materials on getmonero.org translated into Chinese would be great as well.

Its a huge market not to be underestimated.

I propose to make a bounty for translating getmonero.org into chinese and also make a bounty for forums to announce the translated getmonero.org website.
What do you think about that?
I would start with 100xmr

I will match your 100xmr.

Sounds like a good idea! Perhaps we could ask the person who translated the ANN to translate the website as well? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=604293 & https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=253834

Hi guys,

Reposting from Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3axapc/androidios_client_side_web_client_coming_soon/
Just wanted to let you know I am the process of expanding upon Riccardo's AngularJS based mymonero.com to include Android and iOS.

I am using firebase, so you will be able to login via email and password, github, facebook, google and more. Seed's will be generated in the same way mymonero.com does, and then hashed with the user's password and stored in Firebase. This way you only have to remember a password, and not the whole seed. Similarly, I will never have access to the actual seed or private keys.

I will be using Ionic and cordova/phonegap to build out the android and iOS apps.

The one thing I am still exploring is broadcasting the signed transaction that is done in the client. I don't want to detract from core developer time with this assistance, so if there is any developer who is willing to stand up a server that I can send the signed transactions in JSON, I would appreciate it. Riccardo has already implemented this I believe, but again, I don't want to detract from core developer time.

Thanks guys, and look out for monerowallet.com coming soon!

Seems like a great idea and I appreciate the effort. However, since you have a newbie account, I would advise to let someone reputable check and vouch for the code when it is finished.

I`m interested in lending money on Polo. Is there a chance that the borrower of the funds does not pay me my money and runs away?

I guess you can obtain your answer from here -> https://poloniex.com/support/aboutMarginTrading

Don't have time to read it thorougly now.

Thank you for your reference, but those infos do not include the answer to my question.

Try the trollbox or perhaps #poloniex on freenode. I am pretty sure someone has an answer for you there.

Now it would be good to have some people were shorting since Monero is about a lose its liquidity.
If there were open shorts, there would be more liquidity in the dumps as the shorters want to cover and exit their positions.

Where I can see shorts/longs ratio? Only poloniex allows using leveraging tool in XMR?

[1] shorts/longs ratio are not published publicly yet. However, poloniex said this would change in the foreseeable future.

[2] As far as I know, poloniex is currently the only exchange offering margin trading for altcoins.

Can someone share with me the volume of transactions from Monero Club so far?

I am also interested in the number of registered users by region

This data may give us some clues about where interest is higher and where more marketing activities should be directed.

Shoot Atrides a PM, he is the owner of MoneroClub -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=185001
