2981  Economy / Goods / Re: (WTB) Fitbit Flex or other activity trackers on: May 13, 2015, 08:05:58 PM
Well, since this thread is up... Any way to get a Xiaomi MiBand with Bitcoins?
2982  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-05-11 The Washington Post - Liberland’s leader detained on: May 13, 2015, 07:39:17 PM
This isn't much more than a demonstration of power. They're just trying to scare the guy I think Cheesy It will probably be enough for him to give up the idea or take Liberland somewhere else.
2983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks HongKong accepting Bitcoin and giving 20% discount on: May 13, 2015, 07:29:55 PM
This soudns good Smiley And 20% discount is a big incentive... Nice way to go!
2984  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is it legal to run LocalBitcoins type platform as a proprietorship firm ? on: May 13, 2015, 07:28:49 PM
I guess it just depends on your countries law. But it's probably not really legal...
2985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which do you value most when you choose a BTC exchange? on: May 13, 2015, 07:18:23 PM
The most important thing to me is ease of use. It should be simple and quick to make a Bitcoin deposit, sell it to a local currency and transfer it to a bank account and vice versa. Since this option isn't present, I chose security. If an exchange isn't secure, people will gradually stop using it... Smiley
2986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ONE Minute Blocks! Bitcoin as fast as Dogecoin, faster than Litecoin? VOTE on: May 13, 2015, 06:18:34 PM
Pretty curious to see a dev supporting such a deep change in the code... I don't really see the pros at being big enough for this change.
2987  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BIP 32 light/web wallet that works with testnet3 on: May 12, 2015, 10:06:02 AM
Have you tried MultiBit? I don't think it's compatible... But maybe worth a shot Smiley
2988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suggestions for new Vanity License Plate? on: May 12, 2015, 09:57:25 AM
Maybe BLCKCHN? Grin Or BITFREQ Cheesy
2989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The coin who is supposed to take on Bitcoin..... on: May 12, 2015, 09:51:43 AM
... hasn't yet been invented Smiley

Such coin with publicity and visibility will result in a quick "pump and dump" style coin like many we see in the altcoin section.
2990  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-11] Investopedia: Is Bitcoin Mining Still Profitable? on: May 12, 2015, 09:49:31 AM
Of course it's profitable! If you have free electricity and lots of cheap miners Grin

It's also profitable because it helps keeping the blockchain moving!

Seriously... It's getting real hard to mine these days Smiley
2991  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-12] CS - 22HERTZ to Store Music Copyrights on the Blockchain on: May 12, 2015, 09:44:55 AM
This seems like a pretty good idea! It's very often to see people fighting around for music copyrights and "who came up with the idea first". This would help solve many disputes...

Then again, it's probably not a good thing for artists who depend on copywrited content Wink haha
2992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do i import bootstrap.dat on: May 11, 2015, 12:26:58 PM
Bootstrap will not make your sync faster with current Bitcoin Core version Smiley
2993  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Lesser Known Physical Crypto Coins, Paper Wallets on: May 11, 2015, 10:42:31 AM
Nice man, pretty comprehensive list you got there! Only ones I can think of that you don't have listed (that can hold private keys) are WoodWallets formerly at woodwallets.io (but they retired), and Infinitum Bitcoins, which come out in 18 days and I'm pretty excited about! Unfortunately I can't help you acquire those because I only have 1 WoodWallet, and the latter aren't released yet (but you can reserve a slot).

I can think of a few physical Bitcoins that aren't wallet-type coins (can't hold private keys) that you don't have listed, but I'm not sure if you're looking for those.

Hijacking the thread a bit, but since this is about collecting physical wallets/coins... It was pretty sad that those WoodWallets guys went offline. I have one of those (it has a Vanity address, so it's not for sale, sorry OP Grin) and it looks and feels really good. It's a cheap and pretty wallet, that's pretty useful as a gift too... And I just love wood stuff. Is there any competition, or any other physical wallet/coin that's made out of wood? Any from the list of the OP, maybe? I wouldn't mind getting something similar to what I have from WoodWallets

Wow...this is way too crazy of a topic for me right now.....since the woodcollector sham...I have fallen in love with lasered wood products as bitcoin wallets.. I even bought a laser myself.... not to derail my own paper wallet startup.. I have been thinking of a lasered wood wallet design that looks like a bearer bar made from rosewood with polymer inlay..  also a polymer clay bitcoin poker chip.... both with NFC tags embedded like the orange card from a few posts ago.....and would be able to log into any greenaddress wallet...or just store a private key.....I have a rosewood bar prototypes already....as far as the woodwallets...they can be lasered in less then 10 minutes...

I don't want to comment in anything WoodCollector related. As for you, if you're upfront about everything you do and how you do it I guess you'll have many clients... Can't wait to see some designs Wink

Sounds really cool.  I bet people would love something like a bearer bar made of wood.  Very unique and different, especially if you offered different kinds of exotic woods for the crazy collectors like myself.  Just make sure you mention its not hand carved   Roll Eyes

It does sound cool... We need some wood stuff Cheesy
2994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is the oldest/youngest BTCer you know? on: May 11, 2015, 10:21:43 AM
Boy genius!  Shocked
I started at 17, he at 13, so yes, he is pretty smart. Made a faucet at the age of 13 using Ruby on Rails. Pretty neat if you ask me.

That's actually pretty nifty, that's a kid with future Smiley

The oldest one I know is 33... Not really old, but I guess it counts.
2995  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-08] Bitcoin Extortion Group DD4BC Prompts Warning from Swiss Government on: May 11, 2015, 10:18:56 AM
I always wonder what these groups would do, if the roles was swapped. Would they pay the group who is doing it to them?

What is stopping the group from doing a 2cnd or 3rd attack, after the first ransom was paid? They are really in a bad situation there...  Sad

There is always a reason why these things are being done... Companies in competition with these companies hiring hackers to attack or a political statement? ...or simply MONEY?

Whatever the reason... it's bad for us as a Bitcoin community.  Embarrassed

I always question myself that too. I think they wouldn't pay, and they would probably counter attack. And if you know how to attack... You must know how to defend yourself Smiley

These guys simply don't quit. They are either really persistent and don't mind earning their share from time to time with these things or everyone is lying when they say their demands are not met and they don't pay them.

I wonder what's really their motivation...

Every website or forum has to learn to counter these sorts of attacks and it is pointless paying them to stop because if you pay then they will either attack you again or someone else will when they know that you pay up.

Yeah, if you pay other hackers will be attracted. It sets a bad precedent for your website.
2996  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: The passphrase entered for the wallet decryption was incorrect on: May 10, 2015, 06:00:04 PM
Just try to bruteforce the password... Or maybe send it to Wallet Recovery Services http://www.walletrecoveryservices.com/
2997  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Should we just remove the wallet function of Bitcoin Core on: May 10, 2015, 05:53:53 PM
100-address trap? I'm not aware of such things, is it an exploit of some sorts? Private key extraction through social engineering?

It's not an exploit. It means that backups are only good for 100 transactions from the time of backup. After that bitcoin core generates new private keys that are not in the backup you made so you must make a fresh backup. If you fail to do that and the wallet file on your hard drive is corrupted you lose money.

Ah, I see, I didn't remember that when I read the OP Smiley Thank you.

Would this fork still be needed if/when the block size changes?
2999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Вo you protect your anonymity? on: May 10, 2015, 05:40:10 PM
Not really into the hassle of mixing my coins... I wouldn't really benefit on the improved security Smiley
