What kind of hardware specs do you have? It's normal to take a long time, especially on computers without an SSD...

Thanks for the heads up... Why will there be a new 0.10 release?

After you close that app, do you still have the CPU going full speed at 100%? It's probably just the game...
Have you scanned your computer and the miners you've been installing?

Bitcoin Core seems the most logical choice, I think. Armory allows you to handle this too, probably Electrum, but don't quote me on that. breadwallet also handles the situation quite well, but I'm not sure if it allows you to spend unconfirmed.

With all the scams going on, I'd feel iffy clicking random links and taking surveys in the name of "research".
I think bitcointalk.org should have a policy that any academic research topics posted here that requires any info from users should be approved by Theymos or someone from BCT.
Agreed. Despite this, the survey in question is pretty well identified with the institution name and the professional responsible for collecting the data. The only objection one might have is that it's not really clear where are the results going... As for more sensitive data, you have the option of "I'd prefer not to disclose this", simply not answering, or answering things that aren't real (it would affect the demographic results of the survey though, obviously).

I was not aware that vanity address generator were existing for Bitcoin too. But tell, if it's possible to search address this way, would it be possible to hack an address by entering the complete address as the desired output ? This is something that afraid me, like if someone could generate the same Electrum passphrase as me and stole my coins ... What you're saying is impossible. The sun would have higher chances of extinguishing soon than finding the key to a certain address. So that's nice ! But are you talking about ? Finding a Bitcoin address' private key or an Electrum passphrase ? Maybe both of them are impossible and I prefer that ! I was talking about a private key, as that was the objective of the thread. As for Electrum, if you're referring to the seed, you need a dictionary attack, I think, but don't quote me on that. It's also a very expensive attack.

Here's something to get you started on that. Haven't tested it myself yet, though There's also this, but I never managed to get it working. I tried that audio stuff. Didn't work out for me. So I went back to QR codes. QtQR doesn't work because there's too much information in a QR code with a whole Armory transaction and the webcams couldn't focus well enough on it. Dividing the transaction data up manually to multiple QR code would have been very tedious. Instead, I found and used this software which automates the process: https://github.com/anderson-/Eye-Fi It actually worked! I'm going to write a tutorial on it soon. Neither of those systems worked for you? Newar said the audio system he recommended still works for him... I have exactly the same issue as you with webcam focusing and reception of the whole QR code. I'm not sure what webcam do you use, but I'm using an old PS2 Eye Toy webcan I had around. It's actually the only "webcam" I've ever had it only has 1mpx, I think, so I usually divide the transaction info over several QR codes... I guess I'll just have to get an official Raspberry Pi camera sooner or later, 5mpx will definitely improve things. The software you linked seems quite nice... Things to consider when I finally decide to improve my offline system.

If you enjoyed brainwallet for signature checking, like I did, you can host a local version of the webpage. Suits me pretty well.

I guess that beyond what you mentioned is usability. And an ever present dev team (not sure how's copay on this, as I don't really use it). There's also simple user preference... Armory also supports ARM and even has Raspberry Pi binaries.

It would take quite a bit of "horse power" to create such an address... Meaning, it wouldn't be feasible to create it. It's a fake address, it is 1 char too long, its just photoshop.
And yes, just look at the address part, the lettering, the font, and how it's positioned...

This seems like a very interesting survey, although a bit big... And a big bonus for identifying clearly the institution and the Prof responsible for the study.
Masooda Bashir seems to have a PhD in Psychology. How will Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin be related to Psychology in this study?

I think they would be definitely willing to accept Bitcoin, one way or another... And the 10000 BTC pizza would give a very nice publicity stunt indeed.
If they ended up accepting Bitcoin I think they could also claim themselves the first pizza chain/fast food chain accepting Bitcoin. Extra points for them...

Quite a few coins still to be mined... But one thing I agree, we'll be there in no time
