2081  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Documentation Website Down. on: September 19, 2015, 08:08:13 PM
There's also docs.electrum.org. If you still need electrum.orain.org, I guess you'll just have to wait, as there doesn't seem to be any caches with that page.
2082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good Mobile Wallet? on: September 19, 2015, 08:03:05 PM
breadwallet for iOS, Mycelium for Android, and you're pretty much good to go!
2083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Internet early stage on: September 19, 2015, 08:01:44 PM
Nobody is 100% sure if Bitcoin will be a success. As a dev said, Bitcoin is an experiment, in many levels. But one thing is for sure: the idea that is the basis of Bitcoin will never die. It will be kept forever and further developed. The blockchain is here to stay.
2084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: September 19, 2015, 07:59:21 PM
Wrong place to talk about this. This is not a drug forum or a dark web website. Besides, if you cared to read a bit about this forum, you'd be smart enough to stop doing drugs and talking about it Roll Eyes
2085  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can the information needed be condensed somehow? on: September 19, 2015, 12:08:27 AM
Yes, Bitcoin keeps track of every transaction in something called blockchain. It is publicly viewable in of the many blockchain explorers around.

There are ways to reduce the burden of the blockchain, such as purging, but they're not very beneficial in their current implementations.
2086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Follow the Bitcoins taken from me by Homeland Security on: September 18, 2015, 10:28:18 PM
I'm very curious about where these coins are going... Is it possible for them to be auctioned like the ones from the Silk Road case? Do the same principals apply? (both cases are very different).
2087  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Serious usability problems and bugs with armory on: September 18, 2015, 12:03:56 PM
So at best its very hard for average people to operate the client.

Correct. That's something inherent of an advanced client. Although it's definitely not impossible for a novice user to learn how to use it (I am an example of that)
2088  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What r some good ways for a CN exchange to open fiat deposit to European users? on: September 17, 2015, 09:50:41 PM
Back when Chinese exchanges started having issues operating with fiat in chinese lands, I read that most of them were attempting to operate fiat accounts from abroad. Maybe that's an option for you.
2089  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Tutorial: Compiling Armory and getting it onto an offline computer on: September 17, 2015, 09:45:20 PM
[...] I've tried the audio interface previously with another Bitcoin client, but I failed to set it up and eventually gave up on the idea.

Sorry, for the bump.

Which issues did you face in your setup? I still use successfully: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735111.0

I managed to get the software installed but after that I simply could not execute it. I was using amodem with its Electrum plugin. Couldn't get Electrum to detect it either. Tried it in Ubuntu and Raspbian...

Never saw your tutorial around here, thanks for linking it! I'll see if someday I give it a try... Do you think it would work on Raspbian + Raspberry Pi B?
2090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone seen the Google Donation Popup thing? on: September 17, 2015, 09:38:21 PM
Already saw it and thought immediately "too bad they don't accept Bitcoin" Smiley

There's already an organization accepting Bitcoin for this cause.
Can you post link where I can donate bitcoins to that organization?

This donation think is a great way to increase public bitcoin awareness, we - as bitcoin community need it badly.
But we need also some centralized company/organization to be in charge of the money from donations.

Trying to find it... Saw it on a user's sig around here actually. I'll post if I end up finding it.

MOAS[1] is accepting BTC donations via bitpay.

Ah, here it is! Simply couldn't find it after searching... Thanks for posting Smiley
2091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT Post Mortem - Group Discussion on: September 17, 2015, 09:36:44 PM
XT has died/has low number of blocks/low number of nodes probably because it isn't called Core and because it represents change, a new idea.

Again, you should wait to see what will happen with the block always full Wink

The day where starting to count is the 11 January 2016.

Yes, either that or when/if a better idea than XT comes, or there's a compromise between ideas and BIP's.
2092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What features of Bitcoin would you never give up? on: September 17, 2015, 09:32:43 PM
Wouldn't give up any of those listed, but I think the most important ones are the 21 million coin limit, Decentralisation, Pseudonymous, Mining (PoW) and Irreversible. i think these are the 5 pillars I can stand out between the list.
2093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Atlanta based Bitcoin giant BitPay hacked for nearly $2,000,000! on: September 17, 2015, 02:07:59 PM
How can be someone this stupid? No GPG confirmation? No phone confirmation? Nothing? Jesus.

Makes it look like it's frequent to move all these funds just like someone changes shirt without requiring any of the security measures you mentioned... I guess we all expected more from BitPay Roll Eyes
2094  Other / Meta / Re: Logging into Bitcointalk on: September 17, 2015, 02:04:08 PM
But some people trading on this forum so security should be on 1 position.  Tongue

Exactly. And a hacked DT account could make quite a bit of damage...

If you have issues with the password have it reset. And stake an address to your account in case something happens.
2095  Other / Meta / Re: Logging into Bitcointalk on: September 17, 2015, 11:05:30 AM
This should be in Meta

The wait time is for bruteforcing protection, I think. If it lets you input a password 3 times in a row before waiting, it makes the hacker discover the password faster. It's also a better DoS protection.
2096  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinprism exporting testnet prove keys start with K or L on: September 17, 2015, 11:03:46 AM
According to this, yes, they should... K or L seem to be the main network compressed private keys. Maybe an issue in their system?
2097  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Serious usability problems and bugs with armory on: September 17, 2015, 10:57:36 AM
Such is Armory and Bitcoin Core's nature: you have to download the blockchain and reindex everything. Having good internet, lots of ram and a fast cpu isn't what matters the most (it helps but it's not everything). An SSD speeds up everything.

Armory is not buggy. Armory is very secure. If you think the compromise in usability doesn't exceed the security it gives you, then you are free to switch clients. There are pretty good ones on sub-forums right be the side of this one.

The offline file is not compatible, so you'll have to update all your clients. You can then move your coins if you have to put your cold storage online.

There is nothing to fix in syncing, because there is no syncing issue... Sync might be faster one day, but it will be mainly to hardware developments, I think.

PEBKAC.

Exactly, I've been saying this many times. We all suffer from this sometimes, me included Cheesy
2098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Atlanta based Bitcoin giant BitPay hacked for nearly $2,000,000! on: September 17, 2015, 10:47:01 AM
There's something really fishy about this story, or they're not telling everything. First thing: why did Krohn provided his corporate email password (or any other password for the record) in an unknown random website that was just supposed to ask for an opinion about a bitcoin industry document?

And who the hell sends that many funds without questioning? This story really doesn't seem to connect and makes everyone at BitPay look stupid. Not really falling for this...
2099  Other / Archival / Re: Ads for bitcoin in cinemas? on: September 17, 2015, 10:40:10 AM
I was about to say that there are enough ads on the movies already Cheesy But this is actually quite a nice idea... if the stores do keep their promise to accept Bitcoin, and it would be an amazing bonus if they held on to some of those Bitcoins (not just convert them into fiat straight away)

It would be, for sure, an interesting ad Smiley
