301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finland sold 1,900 BTC, for a good cause on: July 23, 2022, 09:00:48 AM
So this is for a good cause after all, they wanted to help Ukraine in it's war and I think majority of us didn't support the war.

I have experienced firsthand the effect of war on people, their families and on everything about them. And during a period of war and conflict, any amount can go a long way. The $47 million donation will do a lot of good for the almost 5 million people according to the UN that have become refugees and over 7 million have been displaced in Ukraine. I wonder though why there was a delay in selling off the bitcoins back then in November 2021.
Hopefully, it was because they were confiscated Coins from criminals Huh and I guess that's why the Government needed those crypto brokers to make sure everything went well. I too thought of it that way, why didn't the Government just send the Bitcoins to the Ukrainian Government when the price was much higher and thought they probably needed them to be clean or maybe it wasn't that. Anyways it was a good gesture from the Finland Government.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC or Gold Investment? on: July 22, 2022, 10:39:46 AM
To me both look good, investing in gold first or BTC later, but I'm confused by the current market conditions especially in terms of ROI, who is the fastest to move on?
Someone tried to do this comparison in a short time some time ago, stating that Bitcoin is too volatile and is not good for investment and I made this post comparing them in a wide time frame since Gold is even older than Bitcoin
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5384719.msg59188621#msg59188621
Most people forget that It is the volatility in Bitcoin that makes you gain more in profit or ROI. Gold is more stable and ROI over a number of years is way smaller than that of Bitcoin so if you have not taken the time to understand Bitcoin Investment and are too emotional, you might not be able to handle the market swings but Bitcoin is a Better Investment in the long run or even in the short run if you invested in the right time as what happened to me in 2017, Invested when the market was just about hitting the Bull season.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla: "We have converted approximately 75% of our BTC into fiat currency" on: July 22, 2022, 05:57:26 AM
Excellent news, although I would have preferred to have read that he sold 100% of all the Bitcoins he bought, because he has shown many times that he does not really understand what he has invested in, no matter how intelligent some people consider him to be. Regardless of whether he is at a loss or has made some money, the time he chose to sell is completely wrong from a profit perspective.

I only hope that Mr. Mars stays away from Bitcoin, and lets him stick to things he somewhat understands.

True that and it is obvious that Bitcoin doesn't need people like Elon Musk to continue to bring negative news to the system but the interesting thing is that, there are those that understand Bitcoin with the liquidity and are willing to buy them up. Elon is becoming bad news to himself even if it was just only the twitter deal, I thought he was a smart person and would have usually done his homework before investment.
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold your bag when you can on: July 21, 2022, 10:50:55 AM
A couple of days ago all I have seen are a lot of threads where people ask questions about the possibility of Bitcoin going down to $1 or coming to an end because they are panicked that Bitcoin may not experience another surge in price due to how the market downtrend a lot in just a few days ago. Are you wondering the reason behind this sudden surge in the price?

It's because "CCP tanks protecting banks because the Bank of China (Henan branch) declared that people's savings in their branch are now investment products and can't be withdrawn."

The world we are living in is far from perfect and issues like this where the institutions and FEDs take advantage of the people will always happen. This will make people realize the purpose of BTC and before that happen hold your bag when you can.
Always remember, not your key not your coin.
I believe this issue of owning and HODLing your Bitcoin in your own private wallet couldn't have been overemphasized. People should understand that the Government have been and can still take this Kind of action when they feel like as we continue to see all over the world when the Government freezes people's Bank accounts or restrict them from the outright withdrawal of their own money which is Highly unlikely with your Bitcoin in your private wallet.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To all expert investors on here on: July 21, 2022, 07:54:51 AM
I believe there is this double standard in the cryptocurrency system. If I might ask, what is the max supply of Ethereum?

So I might ask the same question you asked, Is it safe to have invested in Ethereum? I guess yes cos this has not been a problem with ETH but people or investors are not talking about it and still is the second cryptocurrency ever since. I think it is about investors' adoption and what the project brings as we have seen with ETH Network and maybe less of the known max supply cos if it was the case, why has Eth been able to get to where it has.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you bothered about what happens to your Bitcoin when you are no more? on: July 20, 2022, 07:17:11 AM
Multisig has many good uses, but imho using multisig for when I am dead means that I don't trust my family enough.
So while I do care what happens with my coins after I am gone, I consider that the fact my family knows where I keep one of the seed backups is just fine. Why would I make it more complicated?!
How about cases of funds mismanagement or situation where a member of my family wants me dead just to have full custody of the coin. We live in an evil world where different things happen as we keep advancing. In as much as i trust my family member i think securing both my future and theirs should also be considered

My wife uses my cards too, since she does most of the shopping while I'm working.
So if she wants to "mismanage" funds, she already can Smiley

There's indeed an evil world, but ... maybe it's not as bad as in the news after all. I mean if one doesn't trust his wife, why would they stay under the same roof at all? As I said, keep it simple Grin

I don't know, maybe Bitcoin price would have to grow much much more to make me get paranoid also about my family. For now it's not the case.
I couldn't have agreed with you more. We are just alike there, my wife uses my card the most if we need anything for the house or whatever and she also knows everything about my Crypto life and knows where all the PKs and such kinds of info are stored. I believe I have stated this in one of the similar topics posted up there  by romaro121, I like to keep it simple as well and besides, I don't have that much to think someone will be after me, and even if I did, I have to announce it for anyone to know which I won't  Smiley

307  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the possibility Bitcoin will rise before the end of the year ? on: July 20, 2022, 06:04:11 AM
Last year I predicted Bitcoin will rise above the value at the start of the year and I was totally right about it, in April Bitcoin eventually reached a new all-time high price of $64k. Bitcoin added about 72% of its value as it  increased drastically before it eventually started falling back in May till September. I don’t really know how this year is going to turn out now because of the present dip. But I just hope it increases, that’s why I’ve been advising so many people  to hold their Bitcoins and even buy more now cause it will surely rise again.
Yeah right Grin It would have been nice if you were able to predict to us again where the Bitcoin price might end up for this year. The only prediction everyone already knows is HODLing for the long term and you will surely make profits, other short-term predictions have mostly turned out to be inaccurate or is there anyone that predicted that Bitcoin's price was going to spike yesterday? and besides, I believe that this is not a reversal.
308  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid loan apps, a word of advice. on: July 19, 2022, 06:35:21 AM
Over the week, a friend and I had a conversation about loans and loan apps and she shared a bitter experience of how she was unable to write a very important exam because the money meant for payment of fees to qualify for that exam was deducted by a certain loan app that she collected money from a while ago.  Who will you really blame? My friend for not paying up as at when due or the loan app for not notifying her before the deduction.
In all, I advice that we should try to avoid any business with loan apps as they seem to be very numerous these days and are easily accessible. Most importantly, You should know that you are at the danger of developing a habit of borrowing from them if you patronise loan apps even for the smallest amount.
Why take a loan to do what will not bring back returns to pay for the loan collected? Your friend took a loan to spend and forgot that there is a payment period in place or was she thinking of not paying back? What good will it be even if they had told her that they will be deducting the amount from her BAnk acccount? I want to believe all the ToS would have been stated in the agreement she must have signed before taking the loan. It is simple, If you take a loan, best be prepared to pay it back when due or stay away as you said. I don't do loans anyways cos of the Interest (Riba)
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens next with the market? on: July 19, 2022, 05:34:59 AM
It's interesting to see the reaction to an altcoin rising 8% after falling 80%, and people immediately have the idea that the market has finally turned around. But I think that is very little for a real reversal. And there are no good reasons for that yet. First, bitcoin needs to make a good reversal and not selective coins to rise.
I agree. Look at where the market is coming from, I don't think this is a reversal of the market. Even in the previous bear market, I believe it took well over three years for that to happen even though I am not saying that's how it will be for this bear market but it could be or are we just going to see a quick recovery like that? I don't think so and from this SS, I am guessing we might see another drop  Undecided and it doesn't look like a recovery to me

310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Largest exchange in Philippines to list SHIB !!! on: July 18, 2022, 05:34:24 AM
There will be no impact on Shiba's price from this since it is nothing special, despite being a top exchange in the Philippines, coins.ph does not have a lot of reputation and is not a top exchange in the world.

This news is good news for the Philippines market, investors in the Philippines will now add the option to trade with shiba tokens through their country's largest exchange.
I see coins.ph more of a Wallet than an exchange and even if all the major crypto trading exchanges have already listed Shiba Inu, I wonder what this listing will bring to Shiba Inu outside coins.ph adding Shiba Inus hodlers/traders to their own customer base. MAybe Shiba Inus price might rebound again but for it to do so in a Bear market has to be more than adding it to a Wallet.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why not use Tether instead of Bitcoin ? on: July 18, 2022, 05:10:16 AM
Why do people not promote Tether instead of Bitcoin?

Is it because there is no money to be made in Tether?

Isn't the whole idea of Bitcoin to have a decentralized network that is useful and fair?  Isn't that Tether?

1:1 seems fairer than 1:20,000 ...
Truthfully the main reason now people INVEST in Bitcoin is more of a profit-making rather than just the idea of having a decentralized network. Again speaking truthfully, would you OP rather invest in Tether or Bitcoin? even though we know that Tether is still always in the picture if you understand what I mean.
I agree with you on this. Why do Investors worry so much when the prices of cryptocurrencies start to drop as we have seen in the past months or even in a previous bear market? Every investor wants to make profits off their investments at the end of the day. We have seen HODLERS of Bitcoin from the years past telling us how some of them have not sold a single satoshi and how BULLISH they are, and why are we always waiting to buy the dips with Bitcoin? (Buy low Sell High) that's all about profit and we cannot say the same for Investing in Tether.
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin recover even if it fell to one dollar? on: July 17, 2022, 09:30:03 AM
How low would Bitcoin have to fall before it was no longer recoverable?

Price, in my opinion, would not dictate this. It would have to be something that would destroy the foundation and system on which it is built.

what you say?
Why would you think that Bitcoin will fall to that or such an amount of irrecoverability? Bitcoin or the general crypto market has seen bear markets before, 2017 I believe was one of the steepest dips from almost $20k down to $3k+ and yet Bitcoin recovered back to ATH of $69k+ and this will not be a different time additionally, $1 Bitcoin price is out of it.
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon tweet again that he is supporting Crypto against Fiat on: July 16, 2022, 06:17:07 AM
Here we go again after his tweet that contribute to the market dip he is at it again and now he is tweeting

Musk Tweets He Supports Crypto in Battle Against Fiat Currencies

Quote
The true battle is between fiat & crypto. On balance, I support the latter.
Do you think he is trying to rally the market after the dip and will this stop the continuous drop in the market.
I believe after his first tweet that rallied Dogecoin Elon Musk probably thinks he can continue doing what he does and the market will bend to his will. This has proven not to be the case as many more tweets he has put out including the Dogecoin payments for Tesla Mech didn't move the price but he wants to be relevant to the general crypto market.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 16, 2022, 06:05:37 AM
Your money your choice, you can decide to either hold back and leave it with your bank (inflation will do its part) or buy btc now that price is 3x cheaper than few months back. Maybe what you should do is look up other companies with environmental impact and measure if btc is more dangerous that the rest. It is no news that most countries government always try to come up with some flimsy reason to ban btc. If they claim btc mining has environmental impact what about gold mining? they both use huge amount of electricity and can be considered harmful to the environment. i think btc is overly criticized.
Smiley True that, I want to particularly go back to the Issue with the Oil companies in the Niger Delta States of Nigeria and for anyone that has a bit of knowledge of what those companies have done to the environment in those areas in terms of pollution and not even mentioning the amount of energy they consume, then you would understand the hypocrisy with the Government narrative of Bitcoin mining affecting the environment.
THE NIGER DELTA IS ONE OF THE MOST POLLUTED PLACES ON EARTH
So as you have said, OP has the right to his money and what to invest in as do the rest of us, some of us worry about what might happen in the future and forgets that the opposite could happen too.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Randomly receive small amounts of TRX on: July 15, 2022, 05:55:18 PM
Yeah, just another dust attack if not a reward if ever you've staked TRX. I've got an old trx address and it's receiving not TRX though but those tokens that are built in the trx network. And I think they're more dangerous because some of them will really make you curious and will make you visit their website. They're all worthless though but I've never received such exact TRX as what you've experienced OP.
Likewise me. I have never received any TRX dust that I did not collect by myself from staking TRX and the only tokens I have ever received in my Tron Wallet are those other tokens on the Tron network and all of them I really don't pay attention to and you can also make them not visible in your wallet if you want so that they are less distractive.
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bear markets are a time for building, development and research on: July 15, 2022, 06:01:17 AM
I saw a thread suggesting that new coins will bring big profit. This is true, however, these new projects that might bring big profit are harder to find during a bear market. This is not anymore a market where you can buy the most stupid coin similar to memecoins and profit 100x. This time we need to do more research on the project, what it does, the tokenomics, how much coins or tokens are issued and how much are emitted daily, weekly or monthly and the development team, if they are good and if they have enough funds to develop the project all throughout the bear market.

Also, it is important that you should not be wasteful with the money, bitcoins or stablecoins you have left for investing. The market might be bad for months, years or longer. Be cautious and do the research. Invest in good development teams.
While what you about new projects might be true and making research on projects before an investment is highly recommended, who would have thought that a project like TerraLUNA will go out the way it did? I want to believe most people made all due diligence before investing in it and there must have been others like it too that's why I could still be seen as old with my old ways, Bitcoin, Eth, and a few others are the ones for now.
317  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on CBDC's and long-term effect on the cryptomarket on: July 14, 2022, 06:08:30 AM
Hi guys,

As a lot of you may now, the Central banks are heavy into the development of the CBDC's. I truly believe that these coins are a tool of the global elite to control us. You can take a dive into what these coins really are meant for and its pretty scary. Its basically the opposite of what crypto currencies today are meant for; centralization and complete control.

A lot of people see this as bullish for the Crypto currency market for obvious reasons, nevertheless I still believe the adoption of these CBDC's will be forced onto us. Just like the restrictions of the so called pandemic were forced onto us. This makes we wonder how these two polar opposites will co-exist, and what long-term effects it will have on the market.

I would like to know your thoughts on this.
If you have really looked at what the CBDC is then you would see that it is just a digital replica of the fiat money of any country that is operating it now and nothing more. If the fiat value was useless so will be the value of their CBDC and it doesn't have anything remotely close to crypto other than the claim it is also digital and I don't think it will change anything even if the government would force it on her citizens.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merit For Signature Campaign !!! on: July 14, 2022, 05:25:19 AM
The signature campaign is one of the interesting campaigns in a bounty campaign that not only gives additional knowledge about crypto but also gives more rewards to a campaign. but only certain levels can follow it. How can we go to class??
I guess one of the things to be done is what you have done now, ask questions and I believe many people here are pointing you in the right direction, understanding how the forum works, gaining knowledge, sharing knowledge, and growing your account is where to start and I hope you will take those pieces of advice and run with them so when the time comes to be able to join any signature campaign, you would be able to contribute meaningfully too.
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the highest APY you have ever seen on a project? on: July 13, 2022, 04:06:50 PM
They are not worth trying, better to stay away because you will not be able to gain roi let alone profit. A friend of mine join such high apy paying project but till now he is unable to regain his investment couple with the bear market condition the project could not sustain the high apy as a result they decrease it so low it will take years for stakers to regain their initial investment. You will only end up wasting money on such project.
Well, I guess that will always be the case with any investor that invested in a particular project just because of how much APY they are offering instead of what the project itself is offering. We understand that most of those APYs are just for attraction which will even be decreased and if the project doesn't have any value it offers, there goes your investment.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally, I Bought Something With Full Payment In Bitcoin. on: July 13, 2022, 06:57:47 AM
It is not a surprise for me though because I have used bitcoin to purchase online before, what happened was that fiat payment was disabled at that time but I was able to use bitcoin for it and it worked.

One thing I notice is that you've spent your coins in the middle of the crypto winter, so maybe you will consider buying them back when the bank solves their issues. (However, nfa, please decide for yourself..).
Bitcoin price has gone down, it means no two thing than the bull market is still coming to make bitcoin price reach all-time-high. I will not think two times to convert the fiat to bitcoin. I prefer not to use bitcoin directly, I see it more as investment than payment.
Well as OP stated, he needed to pay for the bike that day else he has to wait till the next week which he was not willing to do and he doesn't have any more fiat since he couldn't make the first transaction because of issues from the bank then the only option left would be to either pay with his Bitcoin. I understand most of us will want to continue to HODL our Bitcoin for the bull season but when you really need a service or Goods and there is an opportunity for a Bitcoin payment, I don't think that's a problem cos most have actually been clamoring for a fiat replacement with Bitcoin Wink
