301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is It Possible To Mine Without Downloading The Whole Blockchain? on: April 22, 2019, 05:33:33 AM
Any reason why you want to start your own daemon instead of just using a pool and paying the low 1% fee? I don't know how it is for XMR but with ETH or BTC if you want to mine it needs to be fully synced.
I can't think of anything other than OP is trying to solo mine Monero or opening his own pool.
BTW, Just like Bitcoin and Ethereum, Monero also requires a fully synced node before you can start mining.

Unless he's not informed about mining pools, the only valid reason to mine using a full node is "solo mining".
@bitbadger for DYOR purposes, Check the selection of pools here, there are info and links to their sites too if you need more info.

Great post and very useful DYOR link. However, i'd also like to add that when if and when you eventually decide to go mine using a pool, here are some of the popular mining pools:

  • Nanopool - my personal favorite because of ease of use
  • Ethermine
  • Dwarfpool
  • Miningpoolhub

Each have their own payout schemes and configurations but i'll let you figure that tout.
302  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can I get money from mining? on: April 22, 2019, 02:44:14 AM
It is much a function of where you are resident, whether or not the cost of electricity is cheap, that is a major consideration in mining economics. The other is the cost of the hard wares(GPU Cards mainly), A while ago you could get them relatively cheaper as fairly used but it seems the prices are been bumped up a little, less miners are selling off at the moment. Mining is still worth  a shot if you can fix these problems.

You may have it the other way around.

Actually, "where you are resident" is primarily (although not completely) important because of the "cost of electricity." After the cost of equipment and hardware, it's the operational cost of mining (electricity) which determines a miners profit. If your electricity costs less, the more you can potentially earn. If you can get cheap or free (unlikely) electricity then, mine on!
303  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: YoBit Signature Campaign (Bitcointalk) on: April 22, 2019, 02:26:24 AM

They seriously need to manually check every participants posting quality, as 20 maximum post per day sounds really spammy. Though, its not necessary to post 20 per day, because they are paying every post made.
We can easily tell the difference between posting a certain topic that gives you interests and posting just to hit the quota to be eligible for signature reward.

Agreed, i just got the email about this yobit signature campaign and thought i'd give it a try. Seems promising but i seriously do hope that they do check the post quality and user accounts. I've been in signature campaigns before and when someone pays for 20 posts a day, they will get 20 posts a day and that will definitely cause major spam.

Lets just trust that the yobit system is not fully automated and has someone checking quality. Good luck to us all.

Hi Izanagi. I've joined a few of your campaigns before and I truly admire your management style. Hope you have a slot available!

For as much as people bash ohgod and her team they did provide the masses with the ethpill for free , which is more than any scammy asic manufacturer has done, screw shitmain and thier coupons
She likes to play figurehead and all but she wasn't the one who came up with the pill, neither did she invent ProgPow.

There were a lot of smart people working on different projects. She just put her mug on it. Worked well on the pill, but she screwed up on Mineority. Now she's putting all her eggs into the ProgPow basket.

Look, I have nothing against people who try and fail. I do however despise people who find cop outs and don't take ownership when they do.

She didn't come up with the pill? Then who did?

AFAIK, it was her github repo where all the code came from so i, along with everyone else, assumed she built it.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who ordered the AMD Radeon VII? Lets make a list of Miners / Hashrates / Coins on: March 20, 2019, 10:25:25 AM
finally ordered Powercolor VII few days back. Will separate a rig and put this card alone. Plan is to mine ETH with it. One of my criteria was to have least noisy card. From RX 580, I have found powercolor red devil to be least noisy and low temperature. Anyone have any recommendation between powercolor/sapphire or AMD version of Radeon VII ?

They are all exactly the same, there is no custom card.

Distributors can rebuild or repackage their cards. Some do custom work by adding triple fans or using the standard set of double fans. So i disagee, the base GPU is the same model, but the distributor makes it unique/different.

From my experience, my Powercolor red devils (was running rx470s back then) were silent and never had any issues whatsoever.

XMR has made my Vegas profitable to run again!

...at least for the next few days.

I've been out of the altcoin mining scene for quite some time now and the Monero charts really do look enticing.
( i'm basing from https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/monero-difficulty-chart )

if the developers really docommit to forking every 90 days then this is a sure reason to turn on my Vega rig again, esp. if you're like philipma who has solar panels.
too bad i already sold some of my Vega56s!
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are profits so low? on: February 25, 2019, 12:22:36 AM
for eth mining to survive --> to be the same as its right now, it has to reach to at least $200 per coin and keep that tomorrow. This is a good test to see how eth stands.

Get ready trolls, lets see breaking the cursed bitcoin $4500 or eth $200 mark.

Given that it's now apparent that the pump did not last very long and ETH value (along with everything else) has gone back down, if we follow your logic, ETH mining will not survive much
longer? I wonder what the forecast for ETH looks like now and what the impact of issuance reduction will have on price.

I'd think if something becomes harder to obtain, its value will rise?
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 best year for ICO on: February 19, 2019, 10:13:49 AM
I've been away for ahwile and it's funny to see posts like this here on the this forum.

FYI: It's been the best year for ICO's since 2017!  Roll Eyes

Anyway, i'd like to share that i have since them sold all my altcoins except the big two, Ethereum and Monero. I've chosen to hold these coins and these coins alone because they are the ones being used for P2P payments and i believe they have the best potential to succeed. Good luck to us all!
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are profits so low? on: February 19, 2019, 10:09:37 AM
so it is 2 ways for miners.

1.) instead of scaling up, consider looking ways to cheapen your electrity like philipma1957

2.) diversify outside crypto, business, rentals etc.

of course you should strike gold first before doing 1 and 2..unless you already have capital ready.

Sadly i'm one of those that philipma calls have "busted out" of crypto mining. I was able to make some profit for a year and half worth of mining but the power where i live costs $0.15++ so i've since stopped all operations.

Could you explain #2 and how we can use our mining hardware to diversify outside crypto? Do you mean i should sell/rent out my GPUs to a cybercafe or something?
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Attractive price for used AMD GPUs on: September 16, 2018, 02:14:04 PM
I'll grab some rx580 8gb for 100 these prices wont last its only a matter of time before prices recover or something new comes along it may take another 6 months but mining profits will come back even if we have to wait out the difficulty to adjust from all the people to shut down and sell their rigs who thought they where going to strike gold mining

Yeah selling at all time lows isn't really a good strategy, whether we are talking about GPUs or coin values.

I say let the hypers and bandwagoners sell. I occasionally try to low ball local postings to try and see if any budge. The difficult thing is that when they agree to prices as low as $90 i'm not even sure if i should continue buying it or not.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] LIGHTPAYCOIN LPC ⭐ MASTERNODES ✅ POS ⭐ MNO AND CRYPTOBRIDGE LISTED ✅ on: September 15, 2018, 04:31:53 AM
LPC Market Cap is $5,465,183 USD
845 BTC
Wow 845 BTC.i'm really impressed market cap volume.

Don't forget, even tho the profit is down (normal correction because too many people are already joining and buying LPC), running an LPC masternode can still bring you more than $50 PER DAY. Thats $50+ per day depending on your LPC masternodes and you don't have to do a single thing.

Add to that the fact that LPC has so much potential, you are looking at massive profits if you buy LPC today!
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1.4G - 1000w - ASIC (Ethash) on: September 14, 2018, 04:09:24 PM
Fake? I hope  Undecided

DELIVERY DATE: APRIL 2019.

Hehe. Good luck pre-ordering with that much lead time! Who knows if Ethereum will even be mineable at that point in time. There is simply too much uncertainty with that kind of investment that i'd say it's even worse than gambling.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] LIGHTPAYCOIN LPC ⭐ MASTERNODES ✅ POS ⭐ MNO AND CRYPTOBRIDGE LISTED ✅ on: September 13, 2018, 02:08:06 AM
LPC price is $2.09 next point $3 and then $5

Very true. Although altogether i believe the $3 mark will go by quite quickly since LPC is an extremely "hot" coin at the moment. Many people have taken profit at higher levels and are now most likely ready to scoop up more LPC than ever.

LPC is currently so undervalued and it's potential to grow is so HUGE. I'm actually buying more LPC now because surely once the market retraces back up, profits will surely double, if not triple.

Buy LPC while you still can boys! Thank me later!
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buy more GPU or go in FPGA ? on: September 13, 2018, 02:04:23 AM
Ok everybody i bought 40x Rx 580 8GB + 10 GTX 1070. 3 months ago...

the profit was pretty cool ... now the hashrate just destroy it .. im making around 0.045$ profit by card right now ( mining ETHASH ).

I would like invest $20 000 (CAD) more ... but im afraid now ... i just need FPGA card coming ... and evrything .. what my best option ? Buy MORE GPU or look for those FPGA card ?

*** I STIL DIDNT ROI MY FIRST INVESTMENT FOR THOSE 50 GPU WILL NOT COMING SOON TOO WITH MY $20/day.

Thats a pretty serious investment. I'd suggest you read the more discussion here on the altcoin mining forum as a lot of other members have discussed the pros and cons of continuing mining with GPUs, FPGAs, or even ASICs.

Personally, if it was me with that sort of hardware, i'd definitely sell the GPUs now and try to get as good a price on it. The next question about whether or not to invest more into mining and buy FPGAs is the real question. Not many FPGAs have materialized yet and there are lots of scams so be careful.

Good job and congratulations to the LPC team for another completed milestone towards success!

Surely continued development of features like this will bring more value to LPC because they bring real world partnerships and value. When the LPC ATM machines roll out mass adoption will surely grow rapidly. I'm buying more LPC before that happens because surely LPC value will be so much more expensive by then.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Huawei F100 VU9P FPGA Mining Cards now Available on: September 12, 2018, 12:59:06 AM

good luck to buyers.

I'd be cautious of pop up businesses like this. This is how people get scammed. There seems to be no indication of any real product and as others pointed out, this could be just some college kid who built a website while copy pasting FPGA specs and is now trying to trick people into buying nothing.

I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] LIGHTPAYCOIN LPC ⭐ MASTERNODES ✅ POS ⭐ MNO AND CRYPTOBRIDGE LISTED ✅ on: September 11, 2018, 03:45:27 PM
I can wait for Binance.  It is a target and can be achieved. The LPC team is hardworking and can achieve whatever target. Give them time. They achieved cryptopia faster than we thought. So Binance is possible.
Let's hit kucoin at first

LPC being listed on either Kucoin Exchange or Binance has individual advantage and getting listed on both will be a super achievement. It needs time. team knows how and when to get listed there.

I couldn't agree more. Things are being done step by step and indeed Kucoin would be a great first step towards future success.

One thing i'm also very happy with is the LPC team's resolve and and activity in all this. The LPC team is very active and always looks out to make sure that the coin is continually improving and increasing in value. This makes me confident to buy more LPC.
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the most profitable ASIC miner Now? on: September 11, 2018, 02:07:57 PM

This site would be good if only the values were correct. I also don't see why some ASICs have red dates while some have green. I also highly doubt that the Bitmain Z9 ASIC does 46k+ k/sols. Even if it could by some type of firmware update, that should be specified or given as an option. Stock values should be displayed, not speculated or "rumor" values.

Shame, could have been a great resource.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My profitability on GPUs on: September 10, 2018, 05:59:58 AM
I mine 0.1 BTC/day.
Electric costs are about 0.12 BTC/day.
Why are you mining then?

Great question. That guy is way better off reading posts of people like DrG who clearly explain why mining at a loss is stupid and extremely counter productive to earning profit at all. Considering earning 0.1 BTC per day requires a lot of hardware and electricity, you should spend more time thinking about the economics of mining.

Just turn off your miners and use the mining electricity to buy actual coins.
