i had a sip of beer 2 weeks ago (as in 10% of a bottle). other than that, i haven't had any real drinks since new years of 2011 when i was rolling in thailand.
3022  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin's role in the US's 2014 midterm elections? on: January 02, 2014, 08:49:52 AM
if i remember correctly, there's a democrat super PAC that is accepting bitcoins. wouldn't it be illegal to accept bitcoins (at least if the donor is undisclosed)? since that's the "reason" why super PACS exist.
3023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: January 02, 2014, 06:45:11 AM
Don't get me wrong, the government provides me nothing that I value.

I think that business, government and religion is part of the same meta structure that oppress people. Business pays the politicians, and the clergy, and each of these provide essential services to one another.

France is a strange country where, every now and then, people mess things up.

do you value parks and roads?
3024  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin's role in the US's 2014 midterm elections? on: January 02, 2014, 06:04:25 AM
a consistent politician? it's a species near the brink of extinction.
3025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it safe to purchase bitcoin that obtain illegally? on: January 02, 2014, 06:00:37 AM
Think of bitcoins like cash. can you tell where your cash has been or what crimes in which it was involved?

Fungibility of bitcoin is supposed to be just the same as cash. No one can discriminate on your coins based on where it has previously been or for what it was previously used.

Now, if you knowingly accept cash/bitcoins from someone who gained them against the law of your jurisdiction, you might have a problem.

I fully recommend speaking with an attorney.

cash is much more anonymous than bitcoin. with BTC, you can trace where it has been or hasn't. so if your coins get stolen, you could monitor where it goes technically.
3026  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you spend your days doing if you didn't have to work ever again? on: January 02, 2014, 05:34:06 AM
i would have said the same thing, and i am not 20-30 (though close enough). i'd like to see at least half of the world. not the touristy bullshit, but actually learning how the locals live. i like getting my mind blown.
3027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will bitcoins be worth if the dollar crashes? on: January 02, 2014, 05:31:18 AM
as long as the united states is around, there will be a dollar.
3028  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin's role in the US's 2014 midterm elections? on: January 02, 2014, 05:21:30 AM
i'm looking forward to 2016 with the presidential elections, but then again i don't think the politics would change. just the method of accepting money.
3029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will bitcoins be worth if the dollar crashes? on: January 02, 2014, 05:19:51 AM
i've said this a few times, and i might sound crazy, but government agencies have been buying all of those ammunition reserves.. it could be that they anticipate that everything will crumble.

who knows how much a BTC will be worth.. maybe $10 million if it crashes? that's factoring in the hyperinflation though, where a house will cost you maybe $50 million  Shocked
3030  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best anonymous payment methods to sell BTC? on: January 02, 2014, 05:17:50 AM
I'm a seller on localbitcoins looking for a few ways to receive money anonymously. With all the hub-bub about banks accounts being frozen just because a new buyer mentions he is making a cash deposit for bitcoins, I'd like to find more secure ways of securing a payment.

Methods I'm considering:

1. Cash by mail - A little risky and takes a while to reach you, but truly anonymous.

2. Western Union? - Do I need to provide my SSN to receive money?

3. Moneygram - Same question as WU

you don't need to provide your SSN, just an ID with western union i believe.

have you considered buying amazon gift cards for when you want to cash out? or possibly spending your BTC to buy something.
3031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Porn.com accepts bitcoin on: January 02, 2014, 05:15:37 AM
this is the first i've heard of a porn site accepting bitcoin.. everyone's been asking them to do it, and when it finally happens, no one really notices.
3032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "BTC Is backed by nothing while the USD is backed by 'full faith' of US gov't" on: January 02, 2014, 05:14:05 AM
what it means is that if the dollar fails, the fed will continue to print more and more money.. and that is why fiat is so much better. apparently.
3033  Other / Off-topic / Re: i made a videogame about hispanic food on: January 02, 2014, 04:43:46 AM
cool.. can u eat a burrito with lots of jalapenos and get the runs? salsa picante has the same effect on me as well.
3034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: January 01, 2014, 11:52:05 PM
A 75% tax rate will do much more harm than good. Sadly most politicians have a hard time grasping economics 101.

history, as stated prior, does not support your claim. i don't know how it's going to end up in france, but high taxes historically have not hindered the economy.
3035  Other / Off-topic / Re: Stop buying cigarettes and invest each pack in BTC Enroll in the program ! on: January 01, 2014, 11:30:37 PM
200 packs  for $40? isn't that dirt cheap? or do you mean 10 packs (a carton) for $40?
3036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Penn & Teller : Bullshit! Bitcoin - btc foundation : non-political economy??? on: January 01, 2014, 09:45:40 AM
yes anarchy is hokum to me, but i'm not saying it wouldn't make a dent in the power structure. it does give people more freedom, and it's an alternative currency to bureaucracy-printed money.
3037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: January 01, 2014, 09:28:39 AM
Everybody here is saying that a 75% tax is a barrier to entrepreneurship and will make most rich people flee.

Did you know that the federal income tax rate in the US was 91% on income over $200,000 (approx. $2.5 million in today's dollars) between 1946 and 1962?
Did it cause a great exile of brains and innovators?

I'm French, there's a good chance I will make more than 1 million a year in a few years, but I still welcome this 75% tax. Millionaires build their fortune on the shoulder of many people who implement their ideas, and thanks to a functioning government and a safe environment, which is payed for by taxes.
Also it's not as bad as it seems. If you earn $1'000'001, only the $1 dollar above 1 million is taxed at 70%. Plus, it is in fact a 50% tax which when social security charges are added reaches 75%

yeah, people still need/want to make money.. even if tax rates are ludicrously high. historically speaking, its impact hasn't been as bad as most republicans/rich people say. still though, 75% is way too damn high. rich people shouldn't be footing that much of the bill. all i expect is something fair (ie less than 50% progressive tax).
3038  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin posts record annual gain: 5,317% in 2013 on: January 01, 2014, 05:21:43 AM
My prediction is $15,800 at the end of 2004.

mark me down for $15,8000 precisely on december 31, 2004.
3039  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you spend your days doing if you didn't have to work ever again? on: January 01, 2014, 03:05:38 AM
i'd still like to work, but at my own pace and i'd be doing what i want to.
3040  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin posts record annual gain: 5,317% in 2013 on: January 01, 2014, 12:44:05 AM
i wish i had 500+ activity points, then i'd feel like i was part of the cool original only club.. and then i'd talk all the newbies down. when losing an argument, i'd just retort with "psh, you weren't even here at the beginning."
