i guess i'm in the minority in that i find apple's o/s to be counter-intuitive. it slows me down using it. on the other hand, i still fucking hate windows 8 on my laptop.. so damn annoying how the metro screen accidentally pops up, and how i have to resort to a third party software to have a start button.
2022  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 23, 2014, 01:01:55 AM
Has China banned Bitcoin this week yet?

I heard China banned Windows 8 this week  Shocked

if this is true, it's a real blessing to the Chinese people.

I hate 8

china should only ban legitimate copies of windows 8. they will burn/counterfeit their own DVDs and sell them themselves.

As for Russian products in the US, i know of the Kaspersky anti-virus software. Im sure there are some others but I dont know by head.
Missile engines.
Military airplanes and parts
Helicopters
Uran
titan

don't forget mail-order brides, vodka and prostitutes  Smiley

btw, that whole kaspersky thing is quite funny.. it comes from a country that is notoriously known for phishing/scams. it's considered one of the better antivirus software, even though relations between the U.S. and russia have never been rosy.

So, does anyone know who decided to buy: China, or the West?

it must have been China, we would be at 50$ without anyway  Roll Eyes

What do you think about ltc/btc?

Buy with both hands or wait a couple more day?

It is a great time to flip some extra BTC into LTC...the ratio is lower than I have seen in a long time.   I have had really good success in flipping these back and forth.  Ultimately holding much more BTC is better IMO, but hedging with some LTC never hurts...

seems to me that LTC was intentionally being pumped and dumped though.. if the people who were behind it don't want to do it again, you might end up losing some money.

on a related note, does anything think that when russia was "cracking" down on gay people.. it was meant to "unify" the country, to basically check how much fervor there is within russian society? that would be a good way of preparing for war, as the nazis did it. just find someone to hate/point your finger to, and then everybody who is not part of that group will become untied in disenfranchising those people.

Ummno.

1, they didn't "crack" down on gay people. They banned HBTQ propaganda for minors.

2, they are not preparing their citizens for war. They don't have to, Russian people are far more educated about the world then westerners.

3, USA/EU and YOU are preparing for war by demonizing russians as homphobic, anti-democratic etc.

maybe you can explain this to me then http://www.advocate.com/world/2014/05/01/russias-gay-propaganda-law-takes-effect-crimea

that and how people in russia are being incited to physically assault gay people marching in public.

How did gas and oil turn into gay argument?

well, it's kinda pertinent in that it's about russian society.

Oh, c'mon, we see this gay-people-cracking-down stuff again and again... Grin Nobody cracking down on them, it's a total BS. Nobody cares about gays here, some pop stars and politicials are open homosexuals, they're still alive and active.

This "gay people prosecutions" bullshit is not even funny anymore. It's so far from the reality that I'm unable to imagine how anybody can believe that. This would be like a belief into spaghetti monster or martian invasion, the same level of stupidity.

Sexual orientation is nobody's business, it's a private matter. If some person thinks too much about someone's orientation, then he needs to visit a doctor, without any delay. This is the most popular point of view on this issue.

you're from russia? russians generally, and i'm not implying that everyone is (but it's a trend), harbor a lot of hatred.. it's the nihilistic russian way. how can you explain these russian anti-gay laws? why do you think it's happening now (recently) all of a sudden? sometimes, in order to catalyze people, you need to find a central figure for them to hate on. here is an excerpt from the article linked above

It has also triggered a spike in homophobic violence, the subject of worldwide protests today in support of Russia's LGBT community, and a Dispatches documentary on Channel 4.

it's probably more clicks, and the mods are probably overloaded as it is.. perhaps an automated version would be good?

at this point, i am confused and have no idea who the good or bad guy is. maybe there is no good guy, just the guy looking out for his own interests. how can we point the finger at china when we've been monitoring people from all other countries? that'll only add fuel to the fire. china would respond "well, you guys do it too." and it would be a legitimate rebuttal.

yes, this is indeed the case. In fact, the US helped China (and others) with mass surveillance systems.  Good/bad guy is only in the movies, in real life there is financial interest and interest of resources.

well, even though i'm american, it seems that they just use the media as an apparatus to convince people that we are the good guys, and they are the baddies.. even though we do the same shit as they do. it's okay that we do bad shit, because you know.. nationalism.

i'm currently looking for a scientific research on the trend police brutality/state policing. it seems to me that there are people committing fewer crimes, and more people are getting incarcerated. it's obviously becoming more and more of a police state.. people without money and representation are not bound to the same rules (or lack thereof) that the wealthy can afford.

edit: here is a link, but not much statistics though. http://www.globalresearch.ca/america-has-become-a-police-state/5378258

I plan to start selling all of my remaining XRP beginning in two weeks. Because I have immense respect for the community members and want to be transparent, I’m publicly announcing this before I start. So just fyi…. xrp sales incoming.
Thanks,
Jed.

You know what would be hilarious? This announcement caused people to dump their XRP, then Jed just buys them all up for cheaper, without dumping a single of his own XRP  Cheesy

i think if that were true, it would sully his name and his brand.. so i'd like to see him try it. imo im not sure if i would announce something like that; what if he has to change his mind for some legitimate reason? if there were a reason to change his mind, he'd be in a no-win situation. either sell off your coins when you think it's not lucrative to do so, or hold onto your coins and face the wrath of the public.

It's stupid that I am the first to bring that up but here it is.

JED probably cares enough about his own money that he won't exhaust the order-book with his sales but essentially do it automated based on liquidity. Essentially, in his case prolonging the process of cashing out over his whole expected lifetime.

If he cared solely about his own money, the way to make the most would be to not tell people in advance. Smiley

wouldn't he draw criticism for dumping all, if not most, of his holdings?
2032  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Video of alleged Chicago police abuse on: May 22, 2014, 10:49:48 PM
i'm guessing that at least a considerable portion of police officers were bullies in their younger years.. "law enforcement" attracts a type of personality that is borderline egocentric/sociopath. it's funny because they are there to "protect and serve." their job is about extending their bullying from adolescence to adulthood.
2033  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mark Cuban (Dallas Mavericks owner)Steps In It With Racial Comments on: May 22, 2014, 10:45:09 PM
the media, like you, will take this out of context. his point was that it's not necessarily about race, but how one presents themselves.. that's why he referenced the white guy in the same manner that he did the black guy.

if i encounter a black guy with gold teef, a tank top and a gat by his waist, i won't want to meet him.. it's not because he's black, but because he looks like a bad guy. same thing with a white, hispanic, or asian dude.

What I'm going to take from this thread is that nobody really objected to my use of the word "faggot" to describe an unpleasant person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_F_Word_(South_Park)

Get on board.

I was not aware of that episode. Webster's dictionary, which I linked to for a definition, is explicitly mentioned in the episode. "Faggot" does not refer to an unpleasant person, but maybe "fagot" does.

I don't consider myself to be a prejudiced person.

I just don't like it when I can't call an unsavory person a fag. I mean, look at OP for example.

i.e. - "Now, THAT guy is a faggot."

I don't think the word counts as hate speech anymore. It's 2014. Context, man.

i'm not prejudiced either. i think all faggots should be treated as human beings.

i spent 5 minutes reading those long posts.. i still don't know why he needs the money. i'm thinking if you want to fundraise for him, his message and plight should be conveyed more clearly. all i know so far is that he's broke, that it might (or might not) be because he's been lazy, and that he may be evicted soon.

American brands such as the Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds are quite popular in Russia. So I really doubt how much successful this boycott will be in the major cities of Russia.

It opens new business opportunities for Russian companies: Stalingrad Fried Chicken  Wink

and gorbachev chicken chops. but yeah, russians boycotting coca cola isn't going to do shit.. and no one over here cares, except for coca cola. maybe they'll come up with their own red army soda. i wouldn't be surprised if putin on a horse were the logo  Cheesy

They already do. They make an abysmally bad knock off of a traditional Russian drink - Kvas - and sell it under that label!

Kvass is tasty and I like to buy mine at the Deli but that's unfortunately the only place to get it, and it's a hassle.  $6 for 2 litre bottle but I can get 2L Coa Cola for $.99 cent when it's on special.

Ironically I am almost certain rye bread is cheaper than sugar but meh.

i'd imagine a russian soda brand would probably randomly have a syringe in it.. seems like russian quality control is to half-ass everything. oh, mother russia!
2038  Economy / Speculation / Re: [TWEET] Max Keiser: Buy Bitcoin Until Your Hands Bleed on: May 22, 2014, 07:18:17 PM
Wasn't maxcoin finished months ago? The fact that he's still promoting it reeks of desperation at this point. This guy is a joke and basically wrong with every call he makes.

it's funny because he doesn't seem to care that it's obvious that he's just pushing it for his own agenda. i guess he can get away with it, so he does.

Why didn't the OP just sell the iphones and get an android phone again?

Blows my mind why one would destroy their own property worth hundreds of dollars, then beg for money when they could've gotten it a better way...

I think the consensus is: because he's a moron.

maybe he's so rich that money isn't an object.. he could use that iphone to wipe his ass if he wanted to.

But if he's so rich, he wouldn't beg us to upgrade his non smartphone.   Wink

holy fuck, he is asking or donations while destroying his phone.. he HAS to be a troll. that or he's on drugs.
