Pat is correct. Everything is allocated on launch so there is no "pre" or "post", however 10% under development team control is committed to be used AFTER V1 blockchain completion. That amount would probably take quite sometimes (NXT took 6-7 months since the genesis block to launch the distributed AE) to get into the market.

I am skeptical about bitshare economic model. I don't think the way they peg bitusd arbitrarily to $ could work in practice. Lending business is pretty difficult to do with bitcoin because of its deflation nature so i am interested so see if anyone can come up with a viable model.

May I ask why does it take you so long to do this? because the duplicate hash table has been up more than 2 months I think. It is worrying because if the pre-launch option has been enabled then the fraudster could cash out and I would not be able to put you back in.

Each stakeholder has been given a gift. It is fine that they sell it and take the money but why do they become a hateful troll ? There will be trolls but they are probably already hateful to NEM since the beginning. 

I think we have more than 2000 unique users. But saying NEM having 3000 stakeholders is also okay also because it is the same as saying NXT has 73 stakeholders. In the end, there were 73 accounts sending money in NXT address and there were close to 3000 accounts sending money to NEM address. Actually, there were more than 3000 account sending money to NEM address but we threw out about 300 accounts after taint and activity analyses.  

We will first test the exchange and then we will see how it fits NEM's goals. While I want to support NXT, it is not a good idea to be the first going on an untested platfrom.

What does that mean?  I am testing nxt dex exchange. It still feels very slow comparing to a centralized exchange but nevertheless the best of its type our there. not sure what kind of update do you want. It was already said several times that we are working on proof of importance (poi) algorithm and integration. After that and a few small optimizations, we can start to set up a test net. (all the rest are more and less finished). That was an update because there was nothing concrete like a product or a white paper to show for the time being. Now if you choose not to trust that is what is going one, then it is an entirely different matter from having an update or not.

It was a long process lasting close to four months and filled with drama, and finally I am happy to say that it came to an end. The waiting list invitations were sent directly to 134 accounts in the waiting list thread and 91 of them has agreed to join in. This is the invitation letter I sent out:

I am very happy that the majority of waiting list people agreed to join us not only because they sent the biggest donation to NEM development fund, but also because they are much more likely to be helpful to NEM than an average stakeholder in earlier stages (better selection process). For that I am thankful that you agreed to join us.  

As it is the stakeholder list now consists of 2844 stakeholders and that would leave 156 NEM shares (=156 million NEM) for the auction held later on. Minus a coupe of shares for corrections and addition, the shares for auction will be closer to 4% of the total NEM than 3% estimated earlier.

On the blockchain development, we have been working non-stop for three months with almost no off day (that is for the whole team, each of us sometimes takes a necessary break) and we are getting close to an Alpha release but not there yet. Personally, I can't be happier with the team we have and I expect much bigger things for our collaboration. First 3 months could just be a tiny step in the lifespan of NEM. I  have a longer commitment to NEM development and I hope stakeholders would share my view.

But if you do not, we will offer you some ways to sell all or a part of your stake soon. The first obvious way is to request a refund for your contribution. I will open a refund request soon and all refund requests would be honored (minus transaction fee) until the NEM official launch. We are also exploring some pre-launch trading options including issuing temporary tokens representing NEM stakes aka Maidsafe coin issuance style.

Gimre have been updating to you about coding progress in this thread regularly and we promise that we won't leave the community in the dark about what we are working on (except things that has a chance of being cloned easily by a competitor). However it should be kept in mind that "we are working on A" or" we plan to work on A" does not translate to "we promise to deliver A in". Priorities could change and we don't make feature promises until the features are production ready.

Finally, I would say relax, have some fun and wait for the Nemesis. I think at this point you can be sure that we are not running off with your money  

We are close to testing the Alpha, but there are still some tweaking with POI algorithm. btw, no one has the times to write white papers yet because there are tons of coding to do. Keep up with Gimre's updates and you will see that we are making steady progress but rushing the chef could be the recipe for a disaster meal.

@xtester Hi I just bought Taleb's Antifragile and also bookmarked link to his notes. I always like Taleb and his empiricism learning. On the economics side my thought is that he belongs to Austrian school of Mises, Hayek etc. and his criticism of academic learning has roots in Hayek's criticism of socialism's central planing that top-down planning fail to capture grassroot knowledge spawn out of practice and experiences.

I think his criticism of Piketty is missing the point though. Taleb saw inequality as a results of the unbalance in pay-off from different type of labor and risk-taking but Piketty's point is more like on the contrast between pay-offs from capital and labor. So they don't really discuss about the same type of inequality.
