This suggestion is probably a bit late to the game but what if you actually require new stakeholder buy-in's to provide a cell# for you to send an SMS to? This is the technique commonly used by various online services and sites to provide legitimacy.

This approach seems like a reasonable compromise -- those that want to buyin bigger stake for their loved ones can do so assuming they have a valid cell number. On the other hand, users with sockpuppet accounts are unlikely to go through the trouble of creating multiple unique cell# since there is now a real associated cost.

Anonimity would be compromised. It is a big no in the cryptocurrency culture.

The way fundraising is designed is to give enough hassles that making many accounts, sending money around for many stakes are not worth it. It has worked to a large extent so far. If someone really determines to have more shares of NEM, then sure he can do that but he also send us a lot of moneys. So I see no real issue here.

I go by transaction in chronological order to avoid double sending. So if someone post a reply with your transaction hash before you then you lose that transaction. But I am not sure how that can happen unless you willingly give that transaction hash to someone else.

Also don't forget people who want anonimity in their investment. They make a new account for the purpose too.

Here are some of the PM I received in the last few days:

- I have already sent my 350NXT and am looking forward to seeing what becomes of NEM. I wanted to know if I can buy a stake for my dad and brother. Potentially they could also just split a share. I can get them to create an account on bitcointalk, but the NXT would be coming from my wallet.

- I wanted to make a another profile to my girlfriend who'snt familiar with cryptocurrrencies, altough she wanted to try create some cool logos which can be found here and that NEM-forum.

- I told my brother about NEM and he also decided to get into it, but he doesn't have a Bitcointalk account and I already have a stake. Can I just send 350 Nxt from my account and post transaction details from the same Bitcointalk account?

- I have already reserved a stake in page 90 and I would like to reserve one more for my bro. I would love to do one for my brother and surprise him when the coin becomes a huge success.

- I created my account just to be able to invest in the project (i only lurked on bitcointalk before, never needed to create an account). I see a lot of hate towards newcomers in both the threads because of the fear of those "sockpuppets". If you guys ever decide to change the rules and exclude and/or require proof from new accounts how would you communicate that to all the people concerned? I am just getting worried and don't want anything preventing me from participating in this fundraising and being part of the coin

- Ok can I buy another share with this account for my beloved one, fur the current price?

- Regarding buying more stakes. I would like to buy it for my brother, but he dont have forum user. Is it ok he just create one?

I believe most of the new accounts coming from new users or from current NEM holders buying one share for their loved one. Remember that NEM is also no envy and positive movement and all of the negative feelings toward new users coming to us is just against everything NEM stands for. There are certainly people who try to game the system but it is logistically impossible and and financially not rewarding to buy a lot of NEM stakes. On the other hand, gaming the system could happen in any IPO; Could BCNext actually hold all thee 50 million NXT account ? could some send in more than 1BTC in NXT fundrasing ? in both cases the answers are yes.

Utopian: this is just not good enough.
The vast majority hasn't bought 1 for their loved ones. C'mon now.
Let's be realistic.
You made it WAY WAY WAY too easy to play the system and 90% of the NEM will be in the hands of less than 1% of the users. Just look at that fucklong thread. 90% of the users are brand new users with 1 post the exact minute after registration and it was for NEM.
At top 5-10% of those are from the subreddit I posted it too.

Why don't you try to control 5% of NEM and show me your results ?

Since someone like to make  baseless speculations about NEM. I officially challenge anyone who can show proof that they control 5% of NEM of more. I will transfer 1 million NXT to you and shut down this project if you can do that.

That is a impossible task and you know it.
I am asking you to be honest with your intellect. Of course the accounts are sockaccounts, Where do you think they magically appeared from with a instant desire to get a hold of NEM?

I *know* you know this, but due to the interest real people has also shown you don't want to shut it down and start over in a fair way.

because you have a 70 post count then you can buy NEM but a new user can't ? is that fair to you ?

Hey devs... I believe you should give an honorary position to BCNext on the list... not joking!   Smiley

If it wouldn't be for BCNext we probably wouldn't have this thread or the list at all! :-D

Imagine the surprise when the identity of BCNext is discovered that he is for example Andreas Antonopoulos :-)

Even more fun would be to observe price charts! :-D

We have not heard from BCNext for two months so he probably does not take NEM. But I have reserved a dev spot for Mr. Jean Luc for his works on NXT 0.6.0, even though it is not clear whether NEM would take anything from his works.

I continue to tweak the front page to eliminate some cheesy parts. It should read professional and also concisely tell what is NEM if a new user stumbles  upon the front page.

hello together

I have a question and goes to utopianfuture and jaguar.
I would like to know more of you, after all it is also trust.
Let's start simply times personally.
-where are you from
-how old are you
-what is your profession

Dear you have utopianfuture times at the beginning indicated that you invest a nxt stakeholders are and would also personally if not enough money comes in at launch.

As for your Next account is?

At the end of the question what moves you as much time and energy into the project to put in?

regards

I pursue this project because it is worth doing. I am not a NXT founder but could be considered an early adopter. My financial details is of no interest to anyone but I can let a detail out that I have one account belong to the NXT blockchain explorer's top account list. I have no desire to publicly reveal my personal information but I am not anonymous so a couple of people here knows me at a personal level.

Jaguar will answer as much as he want but again it should be very clear that we are under no obligation to answer personal questions.

Quick update: the stakeholder list is updated to page 6 of the second registration thread. We are at 1571.

1. Now I would like to have a second pair of eyes to re-check all the incoming transactions to make sure they are legit and satisfy the sending address condition aka counter -sockpuppet measure.  I would continue to check everything when I update the stakeholder list but I think a second eyes to double check everything would give stakeholder list a greater degree of reliability and transparency.  The person who do this would start from the registration thread 2 and continue until the fundraising is over. He should PM me if he find any issue with a particular stake spot reservation. This position would be given 1 dev stake and also a big thanks from NEM community.

2. I would temporarily stop "promotion to qualify" in a next few days to try some direct advertising to see if we see any differences in the new number of registrations. The goal has always been to reach out to a large and diverse base of users who do not necessarily have an experience with cryptocurrency before.

You skipped me in the other thread and I haven't received a response.

EDIT:

I wasn't sure if this is what you were looking for: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=441041.new#new

I was at spot 1074 in the previous thread but it seems like there is another person on there (1074).

If you did not reply in the registration thread (with proof of payment or promotion), then you did not reserve a stake spot.

I do not understand this system. I have even a share but what:

- Makes NEM from?
- For what is NEM?
- Which raises NEM from over the other 100 Coins?
-where NEM seeks to distinguish against Nxt?
-what is the purpose of NEM?

Another aspect:

I would like to see if NEM knows where it wants to do a fundraiser.

It would be cool if each shareholder $ 100 for a huge advertising campaign donate that has not seen the world before

Sounds crazy? YES but it works! For all!

Here is the  fundamental thing I can see in NEM in a next few months. NEM would be the first pure POS blockchain that starts with a huge and equal user-base right from the start.

Another thing: I believe that NEM's development team can deliver a very solid written from the ground code bases that allows for superior features that have not been implemented anywhere else. Stay tuned on this front because there will be many updates in the futures.

Another thing: I think the NEM's initial incentive design would be very appealing to many developers and helpers so that many talented people would come to help us.

Last thing: I believe in transparency, community building, equality and open source community . NEM embody all of these ideas in a form of a cryptocurrency.

I've heard criticism and doubts:
. the code is not public, so cannot be trusted
. there is not enough devs, look ethereum. they have 10 - 12 developers
. the invested money can fly away easily after the project crashes in may or june.

What should be answered to those?

1. It should be clear that we are in an exploratory mode, so no code for now but NEM's codes will be public when they are available.
2. Stay tuned on this front because more updates are coming. But Ethereum is an entirely different animal. While Ethereum is a very ambitious project, at this point it is not much different from NEM in the development milestones.
3. Invested money goes nowhere until we launch the genesis block. Development fund up to that point comes from development stakes and my personal fund if needed.
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: January 31, 2014, 12:58:26 AM
Quick update: the stakeholder list is updated to the end of page 90- registration thread 1. So if you just reserved your spot in the second registration thread, then your account has not been added to the list.

But here is the interesting thing: the google doc stakeholder list I made is not the original stakeholder list; the original stakeholder list is the registration thread itself. Anyone can do the due diligence and re-create the stakeholder list from the registration thread according of the pre-defined rules. The google doc list I am making has to be validated by the registration thread which is the our only social contracts to stakeholders.

So if you have your post and payment in a certain position in the registration thread, then that would be the only proof you need to be added in the list if I somehow miss it in the first try. The google doc ist would be rechecked against the registration thread once more when the fundraising is over to make sure there is no discrepancy and mistake.

Thanks for supporting NEM.

Up,

Sorry I haven't understood very well the explanation here?
Do I need only to make a post somewhere in some thread
to be included in this list
or do I need to send some btc or NXT to get on the list?

Post + conditions (change every 10 pages) such as paying designated fee or promoting NEM in someway. Your post + proof of satisfying conditions means you have reserved a stake spot.

Yes, this is one of the biggest problems. It disrupts the whole idea of equality, fairness and stuff Cheesy But it can be changed Smiley I don't know how at the moment.
Maybe the fee should be divided equally to everyone?
That would attract more users.

... I don't know if this is possible, but if we could introduce fraction, we could pay divide the fee amongst all NEM user based on the ratio of money the have.

So, i we divide 1/4,000,000,000 we get 0.00000000025. This mean that for each NEM of fee, every user would receive 0.00000000025 NEM for each NEM they own. ...
...

I wouldn't worry much about NEM forging problem even if we have an exact forging implementation. In NXT, most forging fees go to accounts with 10 millions and up (out of 1 billion), especially with few 50 million accounts ; NEM won't have a problem with big accounts thanks to the initial distribution design.

That's being said I don't think forging design is a problem with NXT. There are problems somewhere else but still I am a NXT ambassador so ... Smiley

Is it possible that there still exist some good idea ...
the fees would be given/divided to all accounts, which are active at that moment (which are doing the work for the network) ?
Or would there be problems in the implementation?

I think so mainly because of botnet attack variants.

Now late night question. I want to run an ad about NEM to bring more people to us.
Options? Let's talk bitcoin? Coindesk, bitcoin magazine? Or even forbre, business insider ?

as xtester says,
Quote
the answer should be based on what kind of people you are looking for

and that should certainly include people from outside the established crypto community. In any case you will need an intriguing slogan to hook their attention - one that makes people want to know more rather than tell them everything upfront.

A possibility could be:

Liberate your purchasing power with the New Economy Movement

Or

Do you want to liberate your purchasing power?

Or

Help liberate the purchasing power of the free world - Join the New Economy Movement today

Yes it should depend on target audience. I am still tweaking the front page because I want perfection in wordings and represent exactly what NEM aspires to be. Suggestions welcome.

Just an idea :
I don't know if you would concider google ads?
Google is probably the most efficient in finding the right audience!  And it's pretty cost effective.... at least,it was a while ago.

How does that work ? Do we need some keywords ?
