Should of instead of should have grinds my gears personally.

Obviously, saying something perfectly on topic and in another language grinds your gears too!

The point I was making is one of degrees. You have to do a little translating when you read a post written by a non native English speaker. Suffer through the bad grammar because you don't know why that person writes the way they do. Everyone has something to add regardless of your desire to receive the info and it doesn't need to be in perfect form.

I just noticed a couple of my messages got deleted along with yours...  Sad

It's probably in the rules section somewhere I'm sure (no, I haven't read it yet), but it still seems like an overkill to just delete the messages, specially when the person posting it had a good point (even though I agree that it could have been presented in a better way).

score! i have hit 1200 for the month.. christ, that was painful  Cheesy

currently sitting at 1482 with this post now.. will probably limit my posts to 15 per day until the 17th, as i am really worn out at this point  Cheesy Cheesy

i'll try to set my sights on 500 next month, but i don't think i will be able to make it.. 300-400 is more realistic.

congrats...  Grin but how much time a day do you spend posting on the forum?  I mean, 1200 posts is about 40 posts a day...  Roll Eyes

Kinda sucks? All you do is just sit their right clicking and hitting hotkeys lol those kind of games just suck.

Not all games are created equal... for example, Vindictus has a more dynamic combat system, where not only do you have to move out of the way to avoid blows/spells, but you also have a physics engine that makes things a bit more interesting, though I don't think it is as well used as it should be. Still, it allows you to do things like grabbing a nearby enemy and using him as a shield for incoming attacks, and then using him as a projectile against others, which is kind of fun for a while.

Elizabeth Warren for president in 2016...  Grin but really, she seems to be one of the best politicians you guys have (though that's probably not a very high bar to pass).
3409  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lose vs Loose on: December 13, 2013, 02:20:25 PM
Now you have no other option left but do just that, as what you've stated means there are some. This is an Off-topic section of the forum, so you have the right to unleash yourself (and I would not mind)...

Not exactly grammatical errors, but allow me to try...  Grin

How would you know if English is your native language (is it?)? - I kind of take this to mean that you're asking him if he is sure that English is his native language. So, maybe a comma in there might help: "How would you know, if English is your native language?" though it may be more clear the other way around: "if English is your native language, how would you know?".

I don't think it difficult (English grammar at least) - I'm not sure you can omit the implicit "is" in there: "I don't think it is difficult (English grammar at least)"

neither do I find myself specifically capable at learning foreign languages - I don't know if "specifically" is the best word to use in this context; you're sort of specifying something indeed, but it kind of sounds weird to me. Also, did you mean "incapable" instead of "capable"? And "of" instead of "at"? That way, I think you're saying that you don't find yourself capable of learning foreign languages. "neither do I find myself specifically incapable of learning foreign languages"

Anyway, that's all I got. I hope someone else can help out (and probably point out my own mistakes).  Roll Eyes

Holy sh...

Don't have access to internet, phones, TV, radio, even no newspapers or... oh my God... nothing Cheesy
I think they aren't be able to procreate too. And live in little pod without chance to get back on Earth anymore.
Only desperados can accept that offer  Roll Eyes

Well, I imagine they could still get internet, etc... lag time would be awful though, so they probably aren't going to be able to spend all day playing LoL. As for living space, I guess that as additional modules arrive (and more people), they would have more of it, and more options... assuming they survive the voyage and stay long enough.
3411  Other / Politics & Society / Re: nsa and gchq have agents to spy inside WoW on: December 13, 2013, 01:25:22 PM
that's so crazy, I want to hear why they think that is needed.

Well, obviously they needed to level up their chars and work was getting in the way...  Tongue

But to be honest, I don't think I would want to play wow even if they paid me; the combat system kind of sucks to me.
3412  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lose vs Loose on: December 13, 2013, 12:19:49 PM
English is a notoriously difficulty language to learn. I don't begrudge anyone for not having perfect grammar. English and Americans are generally lazy when it comes to learning another language anyway, so I find it rich when they criticise others when they themselves cannot use the language properly, nor can they speak another language other than their own. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever met somebody with perfect English grammar, and of course that includes myself and, ironically, most so-called grammar nazis.

Really? I always thought, and heard other people saying, that it was one of the easiest languages to learn.  Huh

3413  Other / Off-topic / Re: Shooting stars on: December 13, 2013, 09:07:59 AM
Seriously? I'd have thought you of all people would have a keen understanding of the boundless wonders of the universe. Shooting stars (or meteors) are not actually stars, but flying rocks... from SPACE! Some of these space rocks happen to be flying straight towards Earth (or Earth is flying straight into them, depending on your point of view). When they enter the Earth's atmosphere, friction with the air causes them to heat up to the point where they start glowing brightly. But friction also slows them down, and as they slow down, there's less friction and they cool off, and they stop glowing and you can't see them anymore, assuming they haven't already vaporised or exploded by this point. (Yes, I've actually seen a meteor explode. It's pretty spectacular.)

Actually, friction with the air is not the reason for the glow. Rather, the glow is due to the air being compressed in front of the meteor and heating up.

According to wikipedia: "[...] a meteor traveling through the Earth's atmosphere produces a shock wave generated by the extremely rapid compression of air in front of the meteoroid. It is primarily this ram pressure (rather than friction) which heats the air which in turn heats the meteoroid as it flows around it. [...]".

Many people on this forum are not native English speakers. They may not use the language perfectly but at least they try. There are also many children here that don't attempt to use perfect written communication. They are at a disadvantage because they were schooled in the USA.

You're right, and I sort of agree with your original point, that is, provided you can get your point across, some spelling/grammatical errors shouldn't be much of an issue. But I don't think anyone here is trying to stop them from using the forum or some such... you learn as you go, as you use the language. So I was just pointing out that using Spanish, even though you can use a translation service to understand it, it does little to help them learn English, and is probably not that great at communicating with most of the users of this forum.  Tongue

You are making the material world by observing it.

You do realize that this requires some form of evidence backing it up for someone to take you seriously, right? There is no reason to believe the "material world" would cease to exist if consciousness did (whatever its source may be).
3416  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will China go to war with Japan? on: December 12, 2013, 04:16:14 PM
It may sound incredulous, but people are seeing reality instead of pipedreams now. The economic recession might actually have been a good dose of shock to people here in US which forced many people to realize  we must make some changes as to who we call 'Americans'.

Yes, I agree... you should stop calling those that caused the recession 'Americans'... Tongue

In relation to the illegal immigrants, give them a chance; they might actually be useful.

0.06BTC due to that address, added into sig on the 5th of November and it has past Dec 5th.
Thank you stunna.

If you want, you can put it in my PD account: 1CDLuQXczaD6Ea3CfZKmfRUaeC4gv1XvT8

EDIT - just realised it was the 17th of ever month he pays. All fine! i'll wait until then then repost.

Hmm, but aren't you going to get in trouble having two sigs together?  Tongue

I'm pretty sure you can only have this sig if you want to participate in this program (unless the other is something personal, I guess), and it has to be the first sig shown.

EDIT: I guess jambola2 got here first...  Smiley
3418  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.4BTC/month just by posting! on: December 11, 2013, 12:25:49 PM
I have a small doubt.
Some programs remove a person if they post less than 50 post in a single month.
I post an average of 125 posts a month and cannot reach the 50 posts from 10th to 17th , so will I be made ineligible if I do not get 50 posts in a single month ?

No, I think that you'll simply have to sign up again after the 17th (as anyone else who wants to continue in this program). But I'm not sure if any posts you've made up to that point will be "lost", or since you started late, if they will be added to the next month's post count. Perhaps someone else can clarify that part.

Shit happened.

You only get what you deserve, so I assume that you were not nice.

So, "just-world fallacy"?

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_world_fallacy ... meant to add this also.  Tongue

Looks like most people on this forum consider acceptable writing moar instead of more, center instead of centre...

I'm curious: what happens if you do this in your school works in your country?

I was under the impression that centre and center were two different ways to spell the same word (UK and US spelling respectively). Did I miss something?  Smiley
