2581  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Greetings from a boardgame lover! on: July 08, 2014, 03:04:38 PM
Thanks for the 3-d printing idea! I'll keep that in mind for next time.  Didn't realize they were getting cheap enough for home use, that's pretty cool. It would have saved me a lot of time too, as I made another set by hand for my sister.  I ended up using really cheap terracotta modeling clay designed for kids, so it was kinda difficult and frustrating to work with. lol

As for the rules, the goal of the game is still the same.  There are certainly a lot of twists though.  Travelling the board is a bit crazy.  Instead of the railroads you purchase in traditional Monopoly, you use a pipeline network that jumps you around the board depending on what your dice roll is.  That's one of the ways you get into the Beetle Expressway (the diagonal row on the board). There are also numerous cards you get to hold on to, so that you can be a bit more strategic. Stuff like shells, stars, and fireflowers you can use to target the person in the lead and make them lose coins(mario kart style).  Also the board dimensions are a bit different (11 x 10 squares) which might be frustrating for some players. This doesn't bother me at all, but frustrates my husband who gets a bit thrown off by this when moving his token. Tongue For example, if you roll a 10 while being on a corner, it doesn't necessarily mean you get to jump to the next corner (you'd go past it on the short side).  Anyhoo, for the full rules, read the text file that I included in the zip file.  If anything doesn't make sense in there or I left something out, I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Thanks for your kind comments guys. Smiley

You would still need to create the models to print (say, with a program like blender) or download them from somewhere, but yeah, 3d printing would be ideal for this sort of thing, and far easier to use on the long run. As for the rules, they seem quite appropriate to the theme. Wink

I'm subscribed to Vsauce  Cheesy

Also minutephysics is quite interesting and cool  Smiley

Ah, yes, that one is also very nice; forgot about it.

Then, there are always sites like http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/, that keep a large collection of documentaries; problem is it doesn't help a lot in finding the interesting ones. Tongue

In relation to ALToids' Cosmos recommendation, I'd personally check the original series first (the one with Carl Sagan), if you haven't already. Smiley
2583  Other / Off-topic / Re: best browser to use? on: July 08, 2014, 02:10:25 PM
Firefox. They have a good security and a good interface. Used to have chrome but the looks aren't that nice to me.

Last I checked, there wasn't much of a difference between both browser's interfaces (though that was a couple of updates back, I admit Smiley).

Still, I find it interesting that many users prefer something less secure and at best slightly faster in some areas, to a good all around browser like Firefox, which does keep its users privacy and security in mind.
2584  Other / Off-topic / Re: best browser to use? on: July 08, 2014, 01:54:53 PM
firefox, google chrome, other?

I have no script with firefox, but it is kind of annoying because even if you 'allow all' there seems to be a problem loading some websites such as spotify.com web player.

I also use Firefox with NoScript, but I've never noticed any issues with the plugin. Have you tried visiting the site after temporarily disabling NoScript and seeing if the problems remain? Perhaps it is due to other configurations you have on the browser.

2586  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Palestinian boy Mohammed Abu Khdeir burned alive by Israeli extremists on: July 08, 2014, 03:23:02 AM
The facts are obvious for any one to see. There is only one faction that is overtly using and distorting 'historical' and 'humanitarian' causes to their racial advantage and stealing land for the last 2000 years and enslaving different people.

Jews deserve a place on this earth to call home. There's a reason why such a small country is the magnate of venture capital and jewel of the middle east while those who outnumber them by hundred fold are too busy killing each other even with all that oil money gold pouring in.

If you don't like the obvious facts stacked up against your case, do not evade them just because they render your position defenseless. I have stated that every case these 'palestinians' can come up with I can point out ten more justifiable reasons why israel is responding with the force it is now.

Considering the kind of racial, cultural hatred jews receive as israelites, they are perfectly responding with good degree of restraint against the threats arrayed against them. Jews have bought and fought for the land of israel that was stolen from them and squatted on by thieves and opportunistic oppressors.

Palestinians are tools at the hands of arabs and other anti jewish racists to destroy israel. I have seen the so-called demonstrations of these 'oppressed' who send little children to mouth off at israeli soldiers while the soldiers themselves show great deal of restraint against provocations. They take israeli wage, live off of israeli jobs, all the while harboring racially motivated aggression against jews.

Do not presume to tell anyone what is true and what constitutes 'reason' - obviously you never try to see it other than from the point of view that helps your so called argument.

You made your bed as thoroughly as any criminals did while taking advantage of the situation. I'd say extermination of the arab world is in order.

DEATH TO MUSLIMS!

DEATH TO THAT BITCH PROPHET CALLED MOHAMMAD!

FUCK OFF RAG HEADS.

Brilliant... then people wonder why Israel is increasingly isolated from the world; if I didn't know better, I'd say you're purposefully trying to worsen Israel's image. I mean, really? Calling for genocide now? Roll Eyes

shows that blew your mind  Grin

any tv show or youtube channel is accepted  Wink

Not exactly mind blowing material, but they do have some cool stuff there once in a while: Sixty Symbols (http://www.youtube.com/user/sixtysymbols/videos).

EDIT: another one I occasionally see is Vsauce (https://www.youtube.com/user/Vsauce/videos).
2589  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. W on: July 08, 2014, 02:54:14 AM
So, first page says that payment has been sent, but there are people complaining about problems and saying its a scam.

What is the situation?Everyone receivedas expected, or there are problems?

And will this campaign be continuated(I see the member list is still out of date)

Hmm, the first page hasn't been updated since July 1, and no payment was made at that date apparently. So no one has received payment in over a month here.
2590  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's find the true religion as a forum! on: July 08, 2014, 02:48:57 AM
Ramen!

Seriously, though, religion is one thing we can argue about all day. I'm not going to convince you and you're not going to convince me. It's easy to say that all religions should be banned but that's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to do in practice. You could wind up executing solid people who could otherwise make a real contribution to society that way -- and I am not saying that religious folks are innocent of doing exactly the same thing to "infidels." I'm just saying that we should take the IDIC route -- I'll tolerate your religious differences if you'll tolerate mine, and please do not chant too loudly when you're praying.

I don't think anyone here is trying to ban religions, much less kill religious people. Wink As you say, let them believe what they want, provided they don't force it on you; seems like a good enough way to handle it.

Making fun of religion however, is amusing. Tongue
2591  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you earn money online? on: July 08, 2014, 02:38:04 AM
I earn some money from odesk.com.

Yeah, sites like odesk, freelancer and the like do allow you to make some easy money online, on a variety of fields: writing, programming, translation, design, voice recording, etc. Unfortunately, unless you're either very good, or have a fair amount of reputation on the site, don't expect to be well paid. Sad
2592  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's find the true religion as a forum! on: July 08, 2014, 02:26:27 AM
How about we all convert to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Pastafarianism)?

2593  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who Wants to go to Dubai with me? on: July 08, 2014, 02:08:26 AM
we'll check out the beaches, bars, Bitcoin ATMs, etc..?  any takers?  Smiley

I would personally prefer something a bit colder, and with cuter girls, like Norway for example; but I've recently noticed Dubai is quite popular around here. So, why Dubai, if you don't mind me asking?
2594  Other / Off-topic / Re: How long have you been logged in for? on: July 08, 2014, 02:05:39 AM
Why a thread about how long I'm in in the forum redirected to some divulgation in the gambling section?

This forum sometimes is very buggy

I don't think it's the forum's fault, but rather CrackedLogic's fault for that. Tongue

Anyway, since I'm here, I'm at 49 days, 17 hours and 12 minutes. I should probably get a life...
2595  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many people like really *LIKE* caffeine on: July 08, 2014, 01:50:49 AM
I honestly can't remember the last time I had coffee. Am I the only one here who doesn't particularly like it? I mean, not counting bitmarket.io, who apparently prefers to drink his own urine, but he seems weird anyway. Wink
2596  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Palestinian boy Mohammed Abu Khdeir burned alive by Israeli extremists on: July 07, 2014, 10:48:29 PM
It seems trying to demonize the people whose lands were conveniently stolen and squatted on for almost 2000 years is the in thing to do now.

I don't buy the argument that anyone has a claim to land that their distant ancestors used to own. Yes, ANCIENT Israeli jews were driven out of their lands by powerful conquerors, and that was wrong, but the Palestinians who lived there at the start of the 20th century had no part in it. They were ruled over by the Ottomans, and then by my country's empire who gave huge amounts of their land to Jewish people, many of whom had never set foot in Israel. What really matters is not whose ancestors used to live where 2000 years ago, but who lives where NOW. It is wrong to drive a people out of the homes in which they grew up, no matter what their ancestors did.

The truth is that Israel has repeatedly made border agreements only to break them by building illegal settlements in agreed Palestinian land and defending them with force. Israel is therefore clearly in the wrong when it comes to land issues, and while it's true that Israeli citizens are under threat of violence from terrorists, the Israeli government retaliates to every incident with brutal, disproportionate violence against suspects, their families, and anyone who gets in their way. Israel is the wealthiest, most powerful, and best armed state in the region and is under no realistic existential threat - unlike Palestine.

Want to use history, history will fuck you.

You get dealt what you try to deal, bitch.

So, I guess I was wasting my time yesterday trying to reason with you; you've obviously learned nothing from it, and instead, resort to name calling now...

How are we supposed to handle spam in this thread?

Would we just report it to the mods like we would in any other thread?

What are you afraid of, this thread being deleted along with the spammer by the mods? Smiley

Not really. It will be the first Tuesday next month, for example. After all, it also depends on the number of days in the month. Tongue
