The battle in the trenches continues as the Plunge Protection Team leaps into action. Despite the continued narrative of unknown nefarious entities, the price hovers in a narrow channel in the $3.55k to $3.65k range. The trend appears to be sideways and upwards as we enter the final week of trading in January.

On an unrelated side note. It's quite interesting how the subsets of shared opinion holders on this thread seem to go through all possible permutations.

So what's the deal with Coinbase limits? I logged in after a while and I'm limited to $200 per day transfer from my bank account.

I have everything verified. How do I request an increase?

Here is the interview with Taleb and Naval in case you missed it. He is a much better writer than speaker imo, but it's still pretty good and worth checking out. It is somewhat hard to follow so bring a open mind and some patience. ymmv

Rick said the exact same thing, funny enough.

Maybe in my next lifetime, in an incarnation where it's globally legalized.

Peru looks like a good option - splendid hills there

I went to Peru when I was ignoring Bitcoin in 2014. Drank this shamanic tea there and nearly died.

Yep..thats it.   Wink  I guess I have an eye for topography..

*edit*  And yes, I realize Ecuador and Peru are not the same..I was just struck by the similarity.

Small BTC community but I do not participate; I live in the mountains away form civilization.

Good morning all.

Bitcoin has taken a sharp bounce to clear out some stop's it appears before returning towards this channel we have been traveling. Here are some new fibs for your viewing pleasure. I believe we will see continued volatility as we approach the end of the month.

Bitcoin’s Improving Fundamentals Indicate a New Bull Market is in the Making.

A long shake of the tree to remove weak hands before returning to the median line. The downwards channel we have been traveling appears ready to start changing shape soon, but I would say it has not as of yet. Continued discovery between $3.5k and $3.9k until this range is broken.

Still trending sideways and upwards towards $3.8k+ to finish off the month with a few buy the dip moments thrown in for good measure. #dyor

You're right, of course. We're just talking degrees. I suppose Bitcoin is a kind of Rorschach - people see in it reflections of their own concerns and emphases.

My cat has gone missing again.. ahem anyway...look at that volume. Something seems to be brewing. We have broken into the resistance area with this mostly sideways and upwards trend we have been experiencing. I will be interested in seeing how the market reacts to this little flat transition we are approaching. #dyor

A little bit of hopium to get you through tomorrow.....

Very interesting comparison of 40 years of gold markets & a year or two of $BTC

https://twitter.com/JackBauerBONS/status/1086038124352946177

Here's the analysis that went with the chart: https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/yupo6TGS-Bitcoin-The-Silence-is-Deafening/

Possibly a Type I error.

I suppose I should look at the analysis before commenting but..you know me. Looking at the gold chart it appears to still be climbing upwards from the the Nixon shock of 1971. Another problem is scale, it's comparing a range that is 3x the entire life span of Bitcoin and trying to correlate it into twelve month's. Here is some light reading for you guys if you care to delve any deeper....quiz's in the AM. /s

Thanks for the post Bitcoinaire..it is interesting.

Yes I know I would need batteries and in fact that would be the most expensive part of the project for the amounts of energy I would need to storage. But if the solar panels are able to deliver the 5KW I would need during sun hours then I would move to the second phase before cutting from the grid. If it doesn't then maybe I will anyways install some panels to reduce the electricity bill but my idea of a completely self sustained property would not be viable.

I suppose there are many differences between a small boat/RV installation and a home one. Main one being the space limitation to install enough panels and maintaining the proper orientation and angle against the sun.

It's really all pretty much the same. The main difference is the type of voltages required. Higher voltages mean you can run your wires farther on a narrower gauge wire with less resistance. Typical electrical instillation's want to stay below 80% of your total capacity. ie, if you want 5kW of continuous load then plan on having a 6kW or higher system. Like I mentioned before having a good inverter is key. You don't want a bunch of noise in your circuit playing havoc with valuable electronics.
