361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin 'successfully' transferred to an invalid bitcoin address on: September 07, 2019, 04:26:39 PM
This is so unfortunate.

Is there somewhere we can blacklist Bitcoin addresses?

Is there a directory for this sort of thing?
You can add bitcoin adresses to all sorts of directories, but they're really just useless (See Ninja's reply.).

You have https://www.scambitcoin.com & https://bitcoinwhoswho.com/scams that i know of.

These directories would only become somewhat interesting if Electrum somehow adds a plugin with a blacklist of these addresses, but considering the amount of false positives & the way malware would be able to simply maneuver around such a block & the fact that scammers can generate endless new addresses just makes it utterly useless to do. Not to mention that it's really a step in the wrong direction, towards centralization et al.

TLDR; be your own bank.

Hello guys, i have in total 300€ greek paysafe card if anyone willing to buy i can sell them for cheap to btc.
Do these cards work everywhere in europe/US or only in greece?

Anyway this seems like it might be a pretty niche product. Try Paxful.com maybe if you have a physical receipt to show for these cards? If i remember correctly the rates on those were pretty decent. (For reversible giftcards that is.)

greek paysafe card only works with greek accounts this is the problem.
if anyone wants this im selling them cheap as i have no use of them. And yes i have the reciepts in my hand bought in store.
Ah. That sucks. Well, i guess it's worth trying, although i kinda doubt you'll find a buyer here. Maybe try some other forums such as nulled.to where there's more giftcard trading as well.

Or perhaps you could add these paysafecards to something like G2A, buy some CSGO skins and then cash out those skins for BTC.
No idea if it's possible or actually works, but i guess you can think of something similar, you get the idea..

I rarely use telegram just for work purpose but i stumble on one article linking tru '@faucetbitcoinbotbot' i'm curious and clicked it. Now, someone maybe seen my interests on it and PM'ed me (i think) he/she then gave me info about legit gambling but my question is how legit is it?
Stake.com is legit in the sense that they operate in good faith, which means you'll lose all your money anyway using their site, since they have a huge house edge.
Don't gamble on any casino is the most "legit" thing you can do.

And as nc50 said, i'm not aware of Stake.com having a faucet where you get x satoshi an hour, but if they do, don't bother with it. It's an absolute waste of time to fill in captcha's.
Any minimum wage job would pay better. (And probably would allow you to develop some skillset much quicker.)

I rarely use telegram just for work purpose but i stumble on one article linking tru '@faucetbitcoinbotbot'
I'd also advise you to steer away from these telegram bots & spam groups. As far as i'm aware they're all garbage.
Don't give a penny to anyone claiming to be able to invest your money for x returns, or claims to "mine" with it. It's all scams.
365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie needs help with maiden transaction Electrum Wallet missing deposit. on: September 06, 2019, 08:41:51 PM
When I look at the electrum client in the bottom left of the screen it says "not connected". So does this have something to do with the problem. If the wallet is not connected then maybe it can't receive any payments.

I'd appreciate any help that people may be able to offer with this problem.
Yes. Obviously if your wallet is offline, it can't receive new data/transaction information.

Either it has something to do with the wifi you're on, or your software/PC. Check if your wifi blocks any connections, if so, you should either use a VPN or a different internet source.

If you think it's your PC, take a look at your firewall/AV. If that's not it either, it's probably an issue with your wallet software, in which case it could be many things.

Take a look at a couple other threads and see if it might solve your issue:

366  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the risks if we accept 3rd party payment while dealing localbitcoin on: September 06, 2019, 08:07:45 PM
why did he do it? because they paid him a huge premium (something like 40%) over the spot price. that's another thing---if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. very important statement to live by in the world of p2p trading.
I think this really varies from which payment processor you use. On paxful it's completely normal to ask 10-20-30% for a transaction involving Paypal (Due to the reversible nature). It's not that weird, and for smaller transactions a lot of people are happy to pay such amounts. (For some reason i've also not completely figured out yet..)

But if it involves a non-reversable method you should indeed place some red flags, - especially if you're the one being approached.
367  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the risks if we accept 3rd party payment while dealing localbitcoin on: September 06, 2019, 07:06:41 PM
I have been doing trades on LBC,so I need to figure out I am in trouble if I accept 3rd party bank transfers.

As far as I know people can use you for drug purchases when it is illegal in your country and like other crimes but we are in trouble if people doing this?
I don't think you're liable for what other people do with the bitcoin they bought from you. That would be weird.

Localbitcoins already asks people to verify their ID before they can trade, so you're already doing/participating/complying in AML- Anti-Money-laundering laws.
So, in the case of someone trying to launder money through you, or use hacked bank accounts, you'll be able to report them using their KYC submitted to LBC, (or not be liable for their actions at the very least, since you can point towards the KYC they submitted).

As long as you report your earnings, and comply whenever required(when someone trades with you using a hacked bank account), you should be OK. (Although most often there isn't much to comply really when someone chargebacks you just have to take the fall usually.)

note: IANAL. Just my personal experiences.

Another note is that it varies from bank to bank, and whether or not you have a business account registered with all the paperwork etcetera stating what your business (model) is. If you have a personal account getting 10+ transactions a day from people all over the world, it might look pretty weird real soon, and they'll start asking you for proof of income etc.
It depends on the bank, but still.
368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Fake Bitblender site on: September 05, 2019, 07:39:29 PM
No more bitblender because they already shit their services and also the bitblener will work on tor browser alone.

Anyone stupid enough to fall for these scammers?
Someone send bitcoin (presumably) to a mixer clone with a static deposit adress. So, yes - Users are extremely gullible.

But at the same time.... I mean, BitBlender went out with a blast. Everyone knows by now they exit scammed. I wouldn't understand why anyone would send anything to a site resembling BitBlender... But yeah.. It does happen otherwise these sites wouldn't be worth cloning in the volume that they are being created.
369  Economy / Services / Re: HELP ME GET MY 4000 USD FROM BITBLENDER ACCOUNT!!! on: September 05, 2019, 06:51:00 PM
please send the link of the new thread because bitcoin blender. i still hope that i will get my coins back
Hairypoints never opened another thread.

Many other people have already opened scam accusations on Bitblender, and nothing came of it. Bitblender is gone. He hasn't logged in since the 31st of May, and i deem it extremely unlikely that he will ever come back, much less so that he's actually going to pay anyone back, or is capable of doing so.

Your money is 99.9% lost, and there's nothing you can do anymore.

The comments under that youtube video are pretty worrisome.

 Sad

This sort of pettiness can make intelligent people look like children. When somebody feels wronged by something its very easy for them to think they're being victimised and look towards a conspiracy when in reality the truth is far more logical. If he took a minute to even think about this or do some research he would likely realise that there's likely nothing to complain about but that doesn't suit his agenda, and that's what conspiracy theorists do. They're not really interested in facts or doing any actual research just anything that might tenuously support their beliefs or victim-hood. He obviously flew off the handle and just sees this as another way to have a whinge about someone who he feels has it out for him but the truth isn't sexy and wouldn't do anything for him so it's irrelevant.

I agree. It's obvious he has been inserting conspiracy theories and controversial shit wherever possible for a long time now, considering that's where he gets his traffic and following from-- Other complete nutjobs who believe everything is a giant conspiracy, or those who seem him as some sort messias steering the right path through other "conspiracies".

There's no way you can convince these people in the comments otherwise, unfortunately. They either have a vested interest in sharing these conspiracy theories with him (BCash bag holders), or see him as the guy who's going against the mainstream. It's really becoming cult-like as in facts don't matter at all anymore. His following seems to eat up this misinformation like crazy.

371  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Scammer - a proposed resource for scam reports. on: September 05, 2019, 03:30:54 PM
I personally don't think it would be a bad idea to make this.
It's always good to have a public record of what sorts of scams are floating around.

I'd be willing to write a couple of articles and add scams whenever I see a new one pop up.
I think a site with infamous scammers and detailed reports as to how they would scam you, (eg clipboard attacks, the electrum popup attacks, but also more pure social engineering and or things such as chargebacks) could be useful and pretty interesting to a lot of newbies. Wrap it in a nice blog/documentation format and i could see such a project become self-sustainable...

Especially something with a timeline and history of big scammers would (for me personally) be pretty interesting to give a read. At that point it does become more journalism than documentation though.

But... As others have already said;
You can already see it on this forum. People tend to simply not read the pinned/PSA threads. The incentive to go to a third party website and actually read a couple articles about certain methods might be even lower for a lot of users. I don't know.. The userbase which would fall for such scams would probably not be interested in reading a whole lot about it.
372  Economy / Reputation / Re: I am making an exception for game-protect, will you do the same? on: September 05, 2019, 02:40:09 PM
Besides not all trolls are giving us a hard time. Some are actually funny although we think of them as mentally ill. Let them do what they want even if they abuse what they can abuse. In fact non of these will affect our accounts and life.
Not everyone is as anonymous as you are. If you have an account here with a real name or something that can attach you to your identity, i neither would be happy if i were to have a trust list with people calling me a "Child rapist" or "Mentally Ill".

Really, that's 4chan tier, and while it might be the epitome of free speech, i don't think that's the direction we should be headed with this forum.

Newbies who aren't familiar with the forum who look at your trust list and see a bunch of fake retaliatory ratings (especially of this severity), might definitely impact how you're perceived by them, even if the ratings are completely false. I've had this happen before. So, no, it's not completely harmless (or has the potential not to be anyway.)

Just my two cents though.
373  Economy / Reputation / Re: I am making an exception for game-protect, will you do the same? on: September 05, 2019, 02:29:21 PM
The mods seem a bit pussy to be honest with you. They will ban people for shit posting or copy pasting but hesitate a lot to ban a guy that:

1.  'Copy pastes' too, he keeps posting this message: 'This extremely mentally ill bitcointalk account believes that anyone dealing with game-protect is at a high risk of losing money, even though we are since 3,5 years active with over 500 online casino scam reports received and no one ever lost money while dealing with game-protect!' almost everywhere.

2. is a shit poster too

3. scum and disgusting human being

4. pretty much a scammer too
Agreed.

I'm all for free speech and allowing everyone on your platform no matter their political stances/observations, but when you start spamming people's trust lists with stuff that's obviously false. (Being a rapist, & mentally ill because of X), really, some action should be taken...?

I believe he was temp-banned? but most of the trust still remains. Or did he do it again after his tempban? I know it doesn't matter (for most people), but it just looks extremely stupid to me and it's just overall slightly annoying to get smeared like this. People who are new to the forum and look at my trust list (or people in general who are ignorant of who he is), might actually get the wrong impression of me. Anyway.

Not to mention that his business model is nothing but blackmailing casinos. I'd say he has quite the set of (missing) morals,- although that in itself shouldn't be bannable, it just shows he's a big f-ing asshole.

374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core shutdown fails / hungs on: September 05, 2019, 02:04:37 PM
So it basically wants to re-download the whole chain after you shut it down and start again? Odd I have never observed that issue. Which OS are you exactly running?

Quote
I have problem with shutting down bitcoin core on linux platform for years with different bitcoin core versions Sad
Seems like OP is using Linux and i don't see any indication of OP telling, or by looking at the debug log that he needs to reindex or download the entire chain after booting up the wallet again. (Hard to tell when it's first ran anyway.

This has been happening to me for years too, tested on Windows nodes as well. The only workaround I've found is run a shortcut with this:

-reindex-chainstate

Remove the shortcun when completed. I think it may be related to RPC calls, a lot of people complained for years with problems related to crashes while shutting down and it's still not nailed down for all system it seems. I can't see anything odd on the logs. I have to run that shortcut whenever it starts derping again.
OP should try this. I've seen luke-jr recommend this (albeit on an issue which was a bit different) a couple times for similar problems. (Although OP seems to indicate that he has installed/uninstalled bitcoin core multiple times, so the issue might not be directly related to his Bitcoin Core software but rather... settings/hardware .. ?)
375  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: USDT Savings on YouHodler - 12% annually on: September 05, 2019, 01:58:24 PM

Sorry, but I didn't get why we can't guarantee 12% annual interest rates. In order to know it you should understand project finance system and compare loans interest rates, the average amount of loans, the average quantity of loans. If any of our customers have ANY kind of complaint - about Saving account or loans or Conversion, he can always contact Financial commission to resolve the issue. YouHodler is an official Blockchain Association member of Financial Commission, an independent Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) and External Dispute Resolution (EDR), provider. There are some companies like you mentioned which offer similar services but we offer the best conditions (if we taking Savings interest rate or Loans LTV, etc), so it's our benefits which we are ready to use to compete with them.
Okay. So what happens if i deposit 25 million dollars into your system to generate 12% interest a year?
Will that work? As in, will i actually get 12% interest on my 25 million dollars?

Just answer with a yes or no. If yes, what if i deposit 50 million?

If you offer the best interest returns (12%), you must offer the worst loans. (Or no collateralized loans in which case your investors will pay the ultimate price for this stupid amount of interest.)

There is no way you have any amount of outstanding loans that are comparable to the outstanding capital generating interest. BlockFi can barely offer above inflation rates when you're depositing more than 10BTC, (2,2%), but you can offer 12%?

Bullshit.
376  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: USDT Savings on YouHodler - 12% annually on: September 04, 2019, 07:23:18 PM
See that disclaimer thing and it do simply says that you would need to store up that USDT untouched for a year.

Disclaimer: If the user will release funds from the savings account before the settlement period, the user will lose all interest earned during the uncompleted settlement period. (see Terms and conditions linked below).

Question, where does the platform do get that annual profit given into its hodlers yet we are talking stable coin on here.  Grin
+1 for this question, although i can already predict the answer as i see it is hinted to in the article:

I'm assuming our savings are used to give out/back loans, (Or Turboloans as you call them), to your customers. But how can you legitimately garantuee a 12% interest rate? Really, that's insane.

Either the project is a farce, or the interest rates will (or rather MUST) drop by insane amounts to keep the ratio between lenders/loaners healthy.
We've seen the same thing with BlockFi et al. This project doesn't offer anything new but a rehash of already existing services. I'd avoid it.

Nice, but will users be able to withdraw their earnings at any time they wish or there would be a specific time for withdrawal?
If you want any interest at all you need to wait until the settlement period before cashing out.

Whatever that means.
377  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Germany banned by BitPay? on: September 04, 2019, 04:58:50 PM
Found this-- https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2019/08/bitpay-suspends-operations-in-germany-over-regulatory-concerns/

And
Quote
“Germany has publicly stated that they want crypto companies to apply for a license starting in 2020. We have paused operations in Germany while we evaluate the need for German licenses.”

So it's probably only temporary? (Unless ofcourse they get denied a license.) Seems like a weird thing to do really, i mean why stop operating if they don't require any sort of license yet, but IANAL.
378  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2019 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites on: September 04, 2019, 03:10:30 PM
I don’t know maybe I try to send a minimum amount of BTC and then see what I got.
Even then, they could "mix" coins of smaller amounts and whenever you "deposit" a larger amount they manually stop your transaction and selectively scam you out of your bitcoin. I'd take care.

Quote
This whole BTC tumbling services looks shady. Considering to use Monero instead.
Sure. That's what this thread is for. To weed out the shady services.
Note that if you're going to use Monero; you probably need to convert it back to Bitcoin for most payments. There are very few services who actually let you do so, anoymously. Almost all will log certain data, if not ask for your KYC information.
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A truly stable coin on: September 04, 2019, 02:46:33 PM
If you want truly a stable coin, then you have to do this: Take baseline of major currency, for example usd. Then change price of coin once usd gets higher/lower. For example if there is 5% inflation in USD, grow price of coin by 5% and every time try it to be 100% in overall, make it follow every usd fall by rise and opposite, this way we will get really stable coin where inflation of other currency doesn't matter because you know, you invested 100, you'll get 100 and nothing will affect it.

if u had read the thread you would know thats what was the plan in the first place
That plan is stupid. You can't just magically increase the price of your coin for whenever you feel like it. I mean.. How? Burning tokens?
I don't really see any other possibility other than to increase the marketcap, and then dilute the amount of outstanding coins somehow of your stablecoin to inflate the price. Which would really cancel out the "profit".

I feel like this thread wants the best of both worlds, no inflation and general stability in the value of x.

I'm pretty sure this would've been done already if it was possible. You're not the first to come up with such an idea.
380  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2019 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites on: September 04, 2019, 02:35:53 PM
How about anonymix.io? Is it legit or scam?? Anyone test this mixer?
Where did you find them? They look pretty sketchy if not a scam to me. (Mostly perhaps because i've never heard of them before.)
- low res pictures,
- misuse of anonymous affiliation ?,
- no bech32 support

I don't know..
