1301  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance success on: October 06, 2018, 08:20:48 PM
I am using binance as a result of delays on Coinbase and other exchanges in getting verified. Is this the reason Binance is so successful?
What is actually the main reason?
It seems that Binance was founded in 2017 and by 2018 it became the most successful exchange. Coinbase was founded in 2012 and Kraken in 2011 yet they failed to achieve what Binance has achieved.
From a business point of view, what is the reason Binance achieved so much?

They have a secure exchange, low (comparably) fees, a well working and efficient exchange and little difficulties with load issues. A lot of people transitioned towards the end of 2017 when the bigger exchanges of that time such as bittrex were having lots of difficulties handling the increased load so there was a lot of down time and bugs etc.

I agree on that but was it just a bandwagon effect? Like, did people start talking about how Binance solves their problem with efficiency? Honestly, I have never seen any marketing ads from Binance! They are just fantastic in my opinion. It still stays a mystery for me

Binance really started to get traction when Poloniex & Binance started crumbling down due to them forcing KYC on their customers. 1+1 = 2.

You don't need to verify your documents on Binance to start trading, which is probably the main reason that it blew up so much as it did. Ofcourse there's a lot of factors coming in to play here but i feel like this is probably the biggest one.

Also Kraken & Coinbase aren't really comparable to Binance, since they're primarily for USD -> BTC.
Binance/Poloniex et al are all BTC -> ALTS.

Binance also had a lot of troubles regarding server load etc, they even suspended/limited sign up for months.

I'm gonna post what i also posted in your other thread that you made;

Might be better to move this thread to Meta, as it's much more likely to be seen by moderators. > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0

Also, i'm not sure exactly how it works for accounts that have been locked due to the hack, but you might also need to provide ownership by a staked adress before you'll be able to get it back. Not 100% sure though.

See this thread for more information as to how to do it. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

Do you still control this adress: 1JV7ZW5KqR55vJiVi7ujX5AJ3gw3Qoskaw https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526513.msg6078933#msg6078933

You should try signing that adress if you want to have any chance of recovering your account.

guess you got banned for Plagiarism maybe !
Your account is locked because it sat inactive for years after the password hashes were leaked in 2015, and was therefore at high risk of being hacked. Email react-vdnp8@theymos.e4ward.com to get it unlocked.

1304  Other / Meta / Re: Notification of logging in to the account on: October 06, 2018, 05:23:34 PM
I think, is it necessary to add notifications when I want to enter a bitcointalk account. There must be notification via email, 2fa or cellphone.

To reduce crime by irresponsible people or people who have hacked personal bitcointalk accounts.
Do you think that is necessary?
It could definitely be useful, but i don't really see it as a priority. If my account were to be hacked i could surely react a lot faster though.

Something that has been suggested a lot already and something that i'd love to see even more is 2FA, either by email, SMS, or even PGP (if that's possible), for a new, unknown login. Prevention of a hack is obviously much better.
I believe that this is planned for the new forum though, but who knows when that'll see light of day.

1305  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CryptoTable - Compare cryptocurrency prices at crypto exchanges in one place. on: October 06, 2018, 05:03:39 PM
Few suggestions:

1. Crypto news aggregator

Find out the most recent trends and news about cryptocurrency, crypto exchanges, crypto investments, blockchain projects etc.
You might want to add filters to sort it out (ability to read the news, based on the chosen source/s and dates).

3. Exchanges reviews

Read about cryptocurrency exchanges you want to work with, their main features and advantages. Choose appropriate exchange.
I read few of the reviews and honestly, I was hoping to see a much more in-depth reviews (pros and cons, based on the actual experience of users).
I'm inclined to agree. The news section is also just articles picked from two sites? (CCN & BTCmanager?)

Ontop of this, i hugely dislike how you organized the "Price Table".

You list 12 exchanges, but there is no way to rank them based on the highest/lowest BUY price & vice versa for sell orders. I don't really understand why they're ranked the way they're ranked either? Is it random?

It'd be much better to organize that the same way you did with the "Exchanges" tab.
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Trouble getting coins into Armory on: October 06, 2018, 04:09:28 PM
I am new to bitcoin and here is my problem:

I have both Armory and Bitcoin Core installed and talking to each other.

Before I had Core installed I attempted to move some coins from Antpool to Armory (told you I am a newbie)

I eventually realized I needed Core and to let it download and point the DB location within Armory, which I did.

I have the address and I have verified the coins are out there somewhere using a block utility.

For some reason Armory does not show those coins, in fact it shows no transactions at all.

Any suggestions?  I considered having Armory "sweep" those coins into my wallet but I am unsure if I should sweep them or import them.

Thanks

Can you actually verify that Armory is online "Connected"? This indeed sounds pretty strange if that were to be the case.

Quote

Does armory show that you generated said adress that is holding your coins? Can you find it in your wallet?

Sounds to me like you're not able to connect properly, which could be caused by a number of reasons. It might be useful to post your logs.
1307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Safe and Reliable Wallet for Malaysia on: October 06, 2018, 02:42:36 PM
Hey guys, I have been struggling to find a trusted wallet that is usable in my country. Many reputable wallets are not available. Can anyone recommend a wallet that is usable in Malaysia for crypto transfers/withdrawal etc.

Ehm, how are they blocked exactly? This is the first time i'm hearing about such a thing.

Can't you access https://electrum.org/#home or https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/ ?

If not, you can always use the github/torrent. There's no way for a goverment to block these wallets really..

Or are you referring to exchanges here?

1308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder for new members NOT to keep money on a Exchange. on: October 06, 2018, 01:35:34 PM
Never use any exchange's wallet for storing your crypto unless you have the intention to sell those coin in very short term or you are an day trader because you are not controlling the private keys so if the exchange gets jacked then all the fund will be gone.Even if you have 2 factor authentication on it still can't resist the exchange from hacked. In case if your exchange got hacked you need to follow their announcement on social media because they might give some refunds as well.

Thanks for rephrasing the above 4 replies into one...  Roll Eyes

For some reason people still love storing their investments on exchanges. Is the convenience on being able to exchange your coins/tokens immediately really worth the risk? Not in my opinion.
I actually think the average internet user's security is much, much worse than that of the top exchanges. Keeping the naivity of most users in mind, i'm starting to wonder if it really matters that much security wise, as an average joe.

Ofcourse it goes against all fundamentals of which bitcoin was once created on, but that's not really the argument i'm making here.
1309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: adjust block chain memory usage on: October 06, 2018, 12:31:25 PM
how can i adjust   bitcoin memory use age, i don't want more than 5 days worth of blockchain data.

If i'm understanding your question correctly, what you're looking for is pruning?

There's several guides online which show you exactly how to do this.

See https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/37496/how-can-i-run-bitcoind-in-pruning-mode

Quote
-prune= Reduce storage requirements by enabling pruning (deleting) of old blocks. This allows the pruneblockchain RPC to be called to delete specific blocks, and enables automatic pruning of old blocks if a target size in MiB is provided. This mode is incompatible with -txindex and -rescan. Warning: Reverting this setting requires re-downloading the entire blockchain. (default: 0 = disable pruning blocks, 1 = allow manual pruning via RPC, 550 = automatically prune block files to stay under the specified target size in MiB)

Or alternatively follow something like https://coinguides.org/bitcoin-blockchain-pruning/

Do note that you still will have to download/verify the entire chain (140+ GB of data)

The blockchain size 5/6 days ago was roughly 184.487 MB, vs 185.128mb now. I guess you should be able to calculate rather easily how much MB you'll need to allocate to save only the last 5 days.

Code:
185.128 - 184.487  =~ 641 MB

1310  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where to get Monero now? on: October 06, 2018, 09:59:28 AM
Shapeshift requires ID to make any conversion and Changelly doesn't work for me. Where can I convert bitcoin to monero without ID now? What exchange or service?
Changelly is a scam dude! You shouldn't be trading there for whatever reasons. You can buy monero almost everywhere where the general trading takes place. If you want to avoid all the exchange KYC hassle, create a thread on the forum and deal with someone trusted. Some accounts on LBC also offer to accept other coins privately so might as well want to checkout traders in your region

There is a big scam accusation against Changelly right now.  They are scamming select users that transfer a large balance, they stole over 10BTC from a user.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5034589.0

Although the accuser that you linked in that thread seems borderline retarded, the statements given by changelly are indeed deeply concerning.

Quote
Changelly is part of cryptocurrency ecosystem that has to implement KYC procedure to comply with the regulators' policies. To be fair, suspending transactions, if detected, is a common practice in every financial structure.
It is necessary to say that we always warn users about KYC check BEFORE they send a deposit to us. Sending money to Changelly is not possible if the box is not ticked. Please check - > https://imgur.com/a/vMjGbG9. If not ready, customers must refuse from performing a transaction.
We all need to understand that the government regulations is an inevitable side-effect of mass adoption, so we need to stick with common sense and provide users with the best experience possible in the current circumstances. That’s why 99,5% of overall transactions are still processed anonymously on our service.

Once again, the customer didn't use Changelly for the transaction that got subjected to KYC check. Hence, we do recommend to contact the support team of the relevant service on all matters.

So they basically trap you with their KYC. It's like gambling as to whether or not you're subject to a KYC check. Correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think that there are any standards as to when someone has to undergo this procedure. Which basically allows them to selectively apply this on their customers, and there is no way for a regular guy like you and me to know whether or not it was justified..

Quote
Once again, the customer didn't use Changelly for the transaction that got subjected to KYC check. Hence, we do recommend to contact the support team of the relevant service on all matters.
So when you use a thirdparty that uses Changelly's api (ChangeNow?), you won't get the checkmark for a KYC check, but you ARE subject to one? Am i getting that correct? That seems borderline illegal?

Quote
As we could understand, the transaction in question wasn’t even initiated via our service but via ChangeNOW. It is significant to mention that we are not responsible for any transactions performed via services using our API as literally everyone can use it and create their own exchange services.
Huh Uhhh?
1311  Other / Meta / Re: Blazed remove this scammer from DT2 on: October 05, 2018, 09:05:52 PM

Ok so to summarise this.
1. You think mexxer should be removed from dt2 (how did mexxer com into this???)
2. You then think of a superposition that mexxer should and shouldn't be removed from DT also because of the time peiod that he hasn't been actibve (I'd suggest putting a security lock on his account if there isn't one already - which there probably is).
3. Where's the evidence of blazed being a scammer, or did he leave little you a negative trust recently Grin?

1.
With "above fact" i assume that he is referring to either

A.
Quote
Lutpin was asked about this a long time ago and said he is not going to provide any kind of proof/evidence.

B. the post made by suchmoon. (Which i doubt).

Both of which are arguments/"facts" that are in favour of keeping mexxer on DT2. So i highly doubt he thinks mexxer should be removed.

2. Huh

3. I think he is actually referring to someone Blazed has on his DT list. Not Blazed himself. One could probably make an educated guess as to who that might be.

Quote
What if you those feedback are malicious. Most of those innocent users would just leave the forum instead of arguing to those gangs. The fact that two default trust member rated him more than a year ago as scammer would merit an investigation. Default Trust Members should be model of the forum.
The burden of proof is on who again? (Not that it is really that relevant here.)
Also; when you say mexxer left "malicious" feedback, can you give some examples of that? What feedback did he gave to users which are "unjustified/malicious/lies"?
1312  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ExtStock Exchange Official Thread on: October 05, 2018, 07:55:20 PM
Indeed, ExtStock is convenient and good commission. I mean, commissions are profitable for traders.
I completely agree, the trade is excellent, I use it, there are no complaints, I like it
Hello there. What is the opinion of traders about this exchange? Do you like everything? I would like to know before you start trading on it.
I have been using it for almost a week, there are no questions about the service, everything works fine, without strains and misunderstandings

please if any trader who is verified to deposit on Extstock, please contact me for a proposal
I have some Xnode but I'm not able to deposit because they stopped verification since last April
If you Agree i can send to you to trade and take a commission
Contributed money, sold everything, bought later, everything works fine

Who asked you to make these posts "affirming that everything is fine"? While in reality, the site is barely loading in (Literally takes 10 seconds+), and the design (that which DOES load in) looks like Mt.Gox-2011-esque. No offense.

The graphs aren't loading at all.

Furthermore, this is a third-party that's build ontop of another exchange? Since you otherwise would have no liquidity AT all. Why would anyone use this over an already established exchange? These reviews make absolutely no sense at all.

For those interested, i did an analysis on the site. It takes, (dare i say it) 45 seconds until the site is fully loaded in.

From your FAQ:

Quote
Yes! Cryptocurrencies do not retain any personal information about the owners of electronic wallet. Encryption cryptographic algorithms based on the attack are used by the system, which eliminates the threat of access to electronic wallets of third parties, as well as the forgery of electronic accounts. Bitcoin and other currencies are highly protected and completely anonymous. ExtStock does not transmit or disseminate any information about service users in any way.
The first part is just gibberish, and the second part "Bitcoin is completely anonymous" is simply not true.
1313  Other / Meta / Re: @Theymos @hilariousandco can you reconsider on permabans Rules ? on: October 05, 2018, 05:51:50 PM
@Theymos @hilariousandco

Is it not better to Lay down some flexible rules before permanent banning ?
At least give em Second chance Or a temp ban Or even paid options to be lifted ban.
Humans make mistakes. permabans without warning is exactly same as execution. Im sure everyone made mistake, either here or in real life! So you should get banned on life because of mistakes? Where is mercy and kindness ?

Pls Just Add some flexible rules, To give regretful people new chance.

Regards

I assume you're talking about copy-pasting here, as that apparently is what you got perm-banned for?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5043858.msg46531990#msg46531990

If it was merely a mistake by a user, or a one-time thing, i would be inclined to agree.

In practice however this usually isn't the case. 99% of the people who are getting banned are people who are doing this for monetary gain, and systematically. Giving them a second chance would only pollute the forum even more.

Which means you have to choose between making exceptions for everyone, and no one. I guess the forum (rightly so) chose the latter.

Quote

Except that you do get warned. They're not given without a reason, (well, atleast not that i know of.)

What you are telling is about LBC genunity is that you have to be alert in which ever exchange you buy. In LBC the escrow security is high and getting scammed is low chances only the negligence of the user is the cause of getting scam. Their escrow is very good and their system of buying and selling is also good. Only thing is that you should be alert.

It's still not something you want to experience as an absolute newbie to bitcoin.

Even if you don't get scammed, you still get delayed/will have trouble accessing your funds due to their escrow, i doubt that'll leave good memories about the crypto ecosystem to most people.
Quote

Which is exactly what most new people are. Especially if you come from the traditional banking system where everything is reversible & banks are widely trusted etc.

It's a reach, as other users have stated, but why not give it a try.

Using several sites i was able to determine to which sites/exchanges some of these adresses were belonging.

Out of the 26 adresses i've found 6. This leaves 20 more adresses which are unidentifiable.

Out of the other 20 adresses that are unidentifiable, it seems that they're almost all also belonging to some kind of exchange, as they're usually connected to hundreds of other adresses. https://imgur.com/a/dXcVJoH

The "genuity" of a lot of sellers on LBC is also highly questionable.

If i were an absolute noob, i'd be much more comfortable using a regulated nonP2P exchange such as coinbase. The chances of something going wrong on coinbase are much, much smaller than that of a P2P trade.

But if coinbase et al are not available in your country, LBC could be a decent solution, sure. (Although the fees would probably be massive, depending on the payment method and seller..)

You are in right place. If temp ban than it will remove automatically after ban period. If permaban than you can appeal here.  Better read this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5043370.0

You have not mention your old account. How moderators will check ?

Thank you very much
i appealed here : banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com

It might take a long time before you get a response, (If you even get one that is.) And even then, you probably got banned for a reason. I seriously doubt you're going to get unbanned. (That's just a simple statistic. Can't help it.)

If you want to know the reason why you're banned, it might be better to post a link to your previous account. It'll probably end up saving you a lot of time and efforts.
(Or if you PM me a link i'd be willing to take a look at it as well.)

EDIT:

Well i prefer to not link my previous account. its hero account that created 2013. i never breaked the rules, at least i tried till last week which i got banned.

Im not say I'm innocent at all!

After reviewing the rules, I think! i was banned because of 2 slighty same topic in marketplace.
Ive always reported spam posts, insults, multiaccounts or scam posts. ive always tried to respect the rules. is it really Fairness to ban an account after 5-6 years activity just for 1 mistake without any warning?
I doubt you'll get permanently banned for multiposting once. if you really think that this is the reason you got banned, it might be even smarter to open a thread including a link to your old account so it can be properly looked into by other moderators.

From what i've seen from other threads is that emails directed to banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com will rarely ever get answered. But hey, it's your choice.
1318  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The domain for 1broker has been seized by FBI on: October 04, 2018, 05:26:21 PM
how seized by FBI and they came back and they refund?
that's impossible!

Because it wasn't actually the servers that were taken, but rather just the domain, which is usually registered somewhere where the US have some sort of jurisdiction.
It's a setback for sure, but nothing compared to the FBI actually taking their servers and thus their funds.

I'm wondering if there are any domains that are so to speak "unseizable". Apart from .onion ones, i don't think there are?
That's hard to say and to be fair I can't understand well. For example thepiratebay changed their domains but finally returned back to original one, how did this happen? Everyone knows it's pirate, just seize every domain they own, why don't they do that? Another example is rutor.org <-- this domain was seized but they move on new-rugor.org <-- why isn't it seized? Domain is still .org

I think you could argue for ThePiratebay that they're not actually hosting any copyrighted content, they're simply providing a tool/list for users to use.

But even then, you're right, i don't see how that woul be legal in the US anyway..

https://venturebeat.com/2015/12/28/the-pirate-bay-is-down-four-domains-have-been-suspended/

Looks like the main argument for not seizing their domains is that it doesn't matter/it being a lost cause. "They'll simply use another TLD & another domain anyway".
1319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's is the best bitcoin wallet for beginners? on: October 04, 2018, 02:44:00 PM
I just want to ask for the best bitcoin wallet for the beginners. I mean the bitcoin wallet that is user-friendly,  easy to use and also very secure because I don't want to risk my coins just because of simplicity.
From my experience, the best bitcoin wallet is the local bitcoin wallet(https://localbitcoins.com/) because it has a lot of functions than the bitcoin blockchain wallet. With local bitcoin, you can buy and sell bitcoin with your local money or fiat currency. I started with the bitcoin blockchain wallet, I later abandon it for the local bitcoin because of functionality.
It is very secure and very easy to use.

That's an exchange. Not a wallet, and if you're using it as such, don't. No control over your private keys / no control over your bitcoins.

I wonder why no one has mentioned Bitcoin Core yet? Is it because you need to sync up 140gb of data, which makes it a bit user-unfriendly compared to Electrum?

Anyway, you could use that aswell. It is a much better option than the LBC "Wallet". https://bitcoin.org/en/download

ARe there actually any reference links to this because I can't find any.

This.

I'm interested in knowing what exactly caused Lutpin to leave that rating, and why i haven't heard about this before despite it being well over a year old.

I'd be a shame to remove mexxer-2 from DT2 though, as that would basically invalid of all his current ratings that he left and possibly untag hundreds of (real) scammers.

He seems quite inactive as of lately  so i wonder how you all of a sudden decided to open this thread? Some unsolved grudges?

I feel like you're one of the accounts he tagged and thus smell a chance to get the rating to be invalidated. Mexxer might classify as a "Scammer" (although with the evidence your presented it's merely an accusation), this does not (for me atleast) invalidate his previous work/ratings. It'd be a shame if those would go to waste.
