1041  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 09:38:22 PM
Ok, so I sent some money to a scammer. Here are his details:

LigaUIO (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2510207)

email: teneeseusa21@gmail.com
tele @Pikorolitos991
skype live:techviem1
His name in PayPal: Humbertin Proanos

He deleted his posts here.
I'm really not for $25, that's very, very cheap. Someone else wants to scam me?
25$ can go a very long way in certain countries.
I'm not saying you shouldn't trade with newbies, but you should definitely not go first.

Quote
Someone else wants to scam me?
You'll gain countless more messages now from newbs who are looking for a quick buck, yes..

(Also, depending on how you send the paypal, there's probably a way to charge it back, if you really want too.)

Playboi, what are those items? By the way I don't understand Paxful - when I search in it, all the results I get say "Seen over a week ago", it looks to me like some abandoned place  Huh

Nope, there are definitely some legit sellers on there. The problem is that when you go from PP -> BTC, you'll probably pay a fee of ~10-25% (even more if you don't want to verify your ID!)
1042  Other / Meta / Re: HELP ME GET MY ACCOUNT BACK [The return of IBGigglin] on: January 24, 2019, 11:26:37 AM
Am very quite confident you will get your account back. If they consider the IP address you used for registering the account or look at the IP address logs over time and how they changed before and after the hack then that should be part of the evidence that you are the owner.

Another very good evidence is that you own the email you used for registering.
Except for the fact that they usually don't take email adresses/IP's as valid evidence. Emails can be hacked, etc.

However given the circumstances, and looking at all the pictures provided by OP, i myself would be fairly confident that he is infact the rightful owner of the account.
1043  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitrefill conversion rate on: January 23, 2019, 08:51:40 PM
anyone know how their rate is determined? they're giving me prices 2% below bitstamp rate, and oddly the rate keeps getting worse as the price is slightly increasing. i've kept checking over the last 20 minutes and it's consistently 1.9%-2.1% worse than actual spot prices.

is it normal to get rates this bad? this is the first time i've used them. i assumed i would get the actual spot price (like bitpay) but i guess not? Undecided

Yep. I think i've seen this what you're mentioning as well. It might be their business model?

Something i've also noticed, and can't really explain, is the fact that some Giftcards have (or had) a significant difference in fees. (Amazon PIN vs Amazon card.)

For example; Zalando 25EUR = 0,008051BTC is 1:1 with the preev rate.

Amazon card: 25 EUR = 0.00896BTC ~10 % fee?

Not entirely sure if this is intentional or not, but there's a large enough difference to point it out..
1044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Infographic]: Guide on leaving trust negative and positive feedbacks. on: January 23, 2019, 07:39:34 PM
@OP,
I've read the whole infographic, but what I didn't get here is: why should someone get a negative feedback if they take an account as a collateral?

Before I go on to answer your question, first let me make you understand what the forum consider aa a collateral
What is considered collateral?

Collateral is something that can easily be resold to cover the loan value plus interest should the loaner default on the loan.

Therefore if you accept accounts as collateral you're encouraging account farming which the DT members frown at.  Accepting an account as collateral means you're attaching a price to that account which can be sold to cover up your loan value which is considered as account farming and all accounts involved will be red tag.

You're making it sound like taking a BTT as collateral will cause you to instantly get red trusted. - Unless you have examples of this - i wouldn't say that this is the case.

Rather if you take an account as collateral, and the user does not pay back, and you then proceed to sell it, that's kind of flawed upon.

I'd say that, especially with high tier accounts, offering account (rather the reputation behind the account) does not instantly =/= Selling the account in the case of them not paying back their loan.

1045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Urgent Help Needed, All About Tried Everything! Could Lose My BTC on: January 22, 2019, 01:12:54 PM
Hmmm. This indeed sounds like something which i don't think you can do very much about. AFAIK, you'll be unable to sign a message from any of these services you mentioned, since you don't own/have access to the private key.

I find a couple things very weird though;

1-The email address I had registered with the freebitco.in, got blacklisted by protonmail (Apparently, so many people had registered from the same IP...this is a University Internet Connection meanwhile) I have been
you had a protonmail adress? And they simply disabled it?

That seems like a big deal to me? I've registered multiple Protonmails from VPNS/tor, (albeit they're phone verified), it would be detrimental to me if they were to suddenly close these accounts, without any warning...?

2-I tried changing my email address in freebitco.in, but failed as I have to verify the emails being sent, yet I cant long into the email.
I contacted support, they were quite helpful, the person told me to sign a message from either the account that had sent the bitcoin or from inside my freebitcoin wallet.
Now, there is no way of signing a message from the freebitcoin wallet since its a public wallet. The wallet I used to send the BTC to the freebitco.in account was actually a market place wallet, which makes it also impossible.
Hmm. That also seems pretty weird. I wonder why they mention it if it's impossible. Staff should've known, right? (Or are we missing something?)

I'm not entirely sure if this will do anything, but perhaps you could try contacting TheQuin, and see if he can mean anything to you?

EDIT:

If the Staff of FreeBitco.in allow alternative methods of proving ownership, you could perhaps send some BTC$ from the adress in DreamMarket (the one you used to also send money to FreeBitc.o.in) to your electrum wallet, and sign a message with the adress holding said input.

That proves you're (indirectly related)/ the owner of the dreamwallet adress (the same adress that send coins to FreeBit.co.in!). But, the staff of Freebitco.in will have to play along, and i'm not sure how keen they are in doing so.

So guys, what do you think about investing in different icos? I think it's a good idea. We never know which will take the lead in the future. Please help me and give me good suggestions!
Ethereum and ripple are the possible coin that can replace the main coin in crypto in terms of market cap And volume for major cryptocurrencies.
Markets are not always rational and currently Bitcoin is the gold standard in the market because it is the currency everybody knows about.
The point is Bitcoin is popular because it's the first coin beside satoshi. To beat bitcoin is that make their own strategy, brand and new gimmick that people will recognize them.

The bottom line: To beat the Bitcoin brand and the buzz surrounding it, Ethereum and Ripple will need to build their own brand and buzz.

1047  Economy / Services / Re: Buy BTC easily with PayPal or Credit Card on: January 18, 2019, 01:35:36 PM
Relax people. We are in the process of getting the SSL certificate for website, we are just waiting for verification. Our payment provider (PayPal) uses secure checkout with SSL. You can just pick PayPal checkout.
As regards to Selly, it was just to provide an alternative with crypto payment. We have thought about using Coinbase too. Do you have any suggestions?

For private keys, we are sending you OUR private keys to a wallet containing the funds, so you can transfer them youself. Actually making the whole process more secure for customers giving them more freedom.

I can’t provide a “vouch” copy due to the nature of the product, as that would be just giving away free currency. Maybe I can provide a discount code in return for a vouch once purchased?

Thank you for the feedback and hopefully suggestions everyone.

I really like the idea of a service accepting Paypal deposits without KYC, as it's extremely unique.

Which begs the question; why/how are you able to provide such a "unique" service? How are you dealing with/are going to deal with the sheer amount of chargebacks that come from accepting paypal?

-- Until you come up with an answer for that, and an escrow + some efforts into your site's design, i really doubt anyone is going to use your service.

I mean.. Are you running a 2012-esque webshop or an exchange?
1048  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: idea.. You Think its GOOD? on: January 18, 2019, 11:26:54 AM
I've deeply considered creating such a site to the likes of ShapeShift/Changelly, (but with no random KYC checks et al).

However if you want this to be successful, as others have already mentioned, you'll need to offer Low fees -> Capital/No KYC -> Capital/Trustworthiness -> Capital/.

Considering the fact that the above exchanges are subject to KYC, you have to realize that they do this due to regulations/feds panting in their neck. (They wouldn't implement KYC if they weren't 100% required to.)

You'll probably need some really good lawyers and an offshore company hosted in the middle of nowhere to be safe from them.
(Which again, is probably going to cost a lot of $$$, something you don't seem to have.), and due to the greyness of the business model, i wouldn't expect many banks signing off a loan on this idea either.

I might create ico to accure enough Capital Smiley
That's how the Projects started.
it just takes Courage and Faith.
but IF You can add Something Good and useful for Other humens Everyday lifes.
then You have created value ,  the Question isa how big is that demand?
most projects falled couse of Not enough interests from
Other Question is Will People have enough Faith?
IF Only creator have Faith and Hope thats Not enough
Sorry, but if this is your idea of creating capital for your business then you're just plain delusional. You won't get a penny from your ICO.

This has probably been asked a dozen times before, but i am wondering where i can see who included/excluded me in their trust lists. Is this even possible?

Best i can find is; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;dtview

but that only shows DT1 (?)
1050  Other / Meta / Re: grin is now accepted for forum payments on: January 17, 2019, 06:37:20 PM
For what you are accepting coins? Like what I can buy with them?

Therefore, I'm happy to announce that the forum is now accepting grin payments automatically, probably the first site other than exchanges to do so. You'll find a link at the bottom of the evil-fee and copper-membership pages.

I'm not so sure about Donator ranks, but i really doubt you'll be able to buy those with Grin yet. (As 10BTC would equal 10% of Grin's daily volume  Tongue)
1051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What exactly happens when you change bitcoin core passphrase on: January 17, 2019, 03:31:08 PM
It marks all of the keys in the keypool as used (non-HD wallets) or generates a new master key (HD wallets). Individual addresses could still have a balance that could be stolen from the old backup, though.
That a change of password generates a new master private key and thus a set of private keys that can't be generated in/from the old wallet(backup).

It doesn't though: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/12438/5273

When you set a password for the very first time it changes the master private key and adds new keypairs derived from the new key to the keypool. Old keypairs derived from the old xprv are not deleted though. IDK whether it continues to use those or not.
I stand corrected.
1052  Other / Meta / Re: Regarding the SpamBuster Thread on: January 16, 2019, 05:21:49 PM
As you can see in The SpamBuster thread, more than 7000 accounts were reviewed and many of them were banned.
7000+ reviewed accounts is a huge number and we can't ask for more. But according to Alex_Sr post more than 23k new users joined just in last month. It looks like fighting shadows.
I'm pretty sure that roughly 90% of the members is a newbie, and has never posted before, so the amount of accounts created really shouldn't be compared to the amount of accounts banned.

What about adding a captcha the user have to solve before being able to post. (only in Announcements sub forum).
Adding a captcha before you can post kills any incentive for most users. If you want to drive everyone (and especially tor users) out, this is a great solution!

Also, unable the user from posting more than once in a single thread, meaning that if he posts a reply, he will have to edit it for updates.
This kills any real conversation users might have in a thread? Spammers won't care, and simply hop to the next thread? This merely limits "legit" users.

1053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What exactly happens when you change bitcoin core passphrase on: January 16, 2019, 04:36:36 PM
Are you sure about this? Isn't the passphrase just a layer of security on top of the seed/mnemonic? Unless changing the passphrase changes the seed, all your wallet addresses can still easily be generated through the default bitcore derivation path.
I'm pretty sure that this is indeed the case.

EDIT; see answers below. This is only the case if your wallet was never encrypted in the first place..?

19Zgw4ZDEQrMK77KYxokpvG99Gn6ZsixpU

Is my wallet id it was going to.

Do u need more info?
Make sense?

Not really, I'm kind of confused.

19Zgw4ZDEQrMK77KYxokpvG99Gn6ZsixpU received 7000$- 2BTC, not 100$? - https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/19Zgw4ZDEQrMK77KYxokpvG99Gn6ZsixpU

Just to be clear: Are you still waiting for the above coins to show up in your wallet?, if so, something is definitely wrong, as the txid has 50+ confirmations.

Quote
And the 2 previous that i mentioned had 1 and 3 confirmations but we're not complete after 3 days, I only mentioned those to let u know the full situation. The wallet id changes every time so it wasn't sent to the same wallet ID.
what do you mean by "Not complete", once a transaction has 1 confirmation, (depending on the size), it is usually often seen as "complete" or "validated", and should definitely show up in your wallet?
1055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My wallet wasn't updated and i never got my coin on: January 16, 2019, 01:37:22 PM

Tbh it was only 100$ that got wiped from my account when i pressed reload account. Not so worried about that. Just thought i should mention it.

My main concern is the coin that was sent to me i didn't receive....

If you need a pic of anything or any info to help I'll post it up

Well, you still have access to your wallet right?

Make a backup now of your seed, and maybe try to restore it in another (safe!) environment, to see if it might be the application that's displaying something wrong?

Do you have a transaction ID of the coins that were supposedly sent to you? Where are these coins coming from? P2P Trade?

You mentioned in the OP that they already had 1,,, 3 confirmations, so i really doubt that they got doublespend?

(Also, "only 100$" implies that you had much more stored on your wallet? (In different adresses?) are these still showing up normal?)

(Maybe ask yourself what's different with the adress/tx as opposed to all the other adresses that are still in your wallet, with balance..?)
1056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My wallet wasn't updated and i never got my coin on: January 16, 2019, 01:16:08 PM
I think the reload option does not 'comepletely' wipe your account, but merely regenerates all the adresses from the root key? (Note that i am not an experienced Mycelium user, this is merely what i've found online.)

(Which, if you imported the adresses that were holding your coins, could explain why they're missing.?)

You can find out whether Mycelium monitors or scans old addresses by generating a list of your addresses, choosing an old one and sending some coin to it.  See if it shows up in your balance.

If not, refresh your wallet.
Highlight (select) the account, go to the menu and click reload account.  It will then have to generate every address in the chain, including the one you sent some new coins to.  Maybe it will see the coins...anybody care to try it?

Anyway, have you made a backup of your seed somewhere? -- https://mycelium-support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003713712-How-do-I-restore-a-backup-

No i never had a backup... Did i fuck up?
I'm not educated enough on the wallet to say..
1057  Other / Meta / Re: Sorry, you are banned. or Locked? on: January 15, 2019, 02:31:38 PM
Because the real owner locked that account from the link sent to old email while you are trying to change email and password. So that account will be locked until the real owner prove that he is the real owner by following the steps from : Recovering hacked/lost accounts

Anyway give the link of which account you are talking about.
Ah, great. so my account is locked instead of banned? how can i prove myself if i dont have bitcoin address staked?
Look through your old posts and see if you've left any bitcoin adress, anywhere.

(Then access that adress with Core/Electrum and sign a message.)
Even then, chances are slim your account will be recovered.  Undecided
1058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Moving BTC from bitcoin.com wallet on: January 11, 2019, 11:08:53 PM
Thanks for your suggestions. I want to ask something else. I am using ver 4.04 of that wallet and I cant find an option so update it, or does it update automatically. Does anyone know what the latest version is and how do i updated it safely without risking my BTCs? THX
I assume you're talking about the Bitcoin.com wallet?

It seems like the latest version is 5.2, which you can download from here. https://github.com/Bitcoin-com/Wallet/releases (Or simply click the link above.)

I'm not sure how exactly Bitcoin.com handles the updating process/whether or not your wallet files will be saved. To be sure, i'd recommend to make a backup of those files before downloading the new version (By exporting the current wallet.. (Although it's quite unnecessary if you have your seed.)

Hi Potatu,
If you're referring to a wallet export from the Settings > Wallets & Integrations > More Options > Export Wallet screen, you can copy your wallet's keys (private and/or public) to your clipboard for pasting into a text file on your device, or for pasting into an email.

If referring to when you are shown your backup words on the screen when it shows "Your wallet is backed up", it is not backed up to a file; it simply means that - by entering the phrase - you have shown that you have backed up your wallet by virtue of memorising your backup words or writing them down somewhere safe.

Once you have your seed words your wallet is backed up. Smiley

Fremont

If they don't save your wallet files, you should probably try to import the Backup Seed into the wallet.
1059  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum mobile app on: January 11, 2019, 10:57:58 PM
Recently transferred my coins to the electrum wallet. What do I need to do to make a purchase?

What exactly do you mean by "Make a purchase"? You simply copy the adress + amount stated on the invoice of the merchant, and send it...?

(That is if you're using a 3rd party payment processor. With P2P you simply ask the user for the amount and the adress? Same way like you would make normal non-crypto payments = Ask for someone's IBAN + Amount of $.)
1060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Re-Broadcast Transaction (Need Help) on: January 11, 2019, 05:41:21 PM
Hey guys, i need to re-broadcast this transaction or at least get the Raw TIX out of this

2bbec1da63af69b4ff1fac46d27864abfe7fffa563e5c65b9fd2f65c453baaa5

Unfortunaly i have no clue how to do so. Can anyone help?

I'm going to quote bob123 here since i asked the same -esque question a couple months ago,

Since i would need the hex encoded data to  push a transaction back into the mempool, right? Would that be possible with only an old valid transaction id that i have?

You can't get the raw hex data of a transaction just out of an ID.
The transaction id is 'created' by hashing the TX twice with sha256 ('one-way-function').

You need to have access to the transaction (either by the tx being broadcasted / you have access to the tx data).
Quite a few block explorer give you the ability to get the raw transaction data. (e.g. blockchain.info, .. ).

So, do you have access to the transaction? (Since i myself can't find any record about your tx in any of the apis.)

I'm pretty sure that is the only way that you'll be able to get the HEXID by this point.. (Which is what you'll need to rebroadcast it.)
