How to speed up loading?
"scan" ~20 mins at M2 960 PRO ssd

The screenshot doesn't really explain your problem; do you have issues opening the wallet, or syncing it?

If syncing; that's normal, most people won't be able to download 200 GB in 20 minutes.

If opening; there's definitely an issue. Core shouldn't take 20 minutes to open.
402  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 28, 2019, 01:59:50 PM

Hi! Why not use Cloudflare?
Why would you trust an American company like that? They can literally MITM all traffic if they want to (or are forced to by subpoenas).
Using CF would kill all trust in this service.

That's right, but they still use an American company (on clearnet side). Namecheap Inc, with default DNS: registrar-servers.com
Simply using namecheap for your DNS is very different from routing all your traffic through a Cloudflare name server.

using DNS + SSL only exposes your IP to the DNS provider, whereas if you use something like cloudflare, you route all traffic through, let it be encrypted, you can still expose a much larger amount of fingerprints.

Still doesn't seem ideal but i don't think you can have DNS without someone logging certain things such as your IP. (right?)
403  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Chainalysis research reveals: only a small percentage of mixed coins are illegal on: August 28, 2019, 01:31:58 PM
The strange thing is the proportion of mixing coins that comes from gambling.
Yeah, i for sure thought that would be higher considering Coinbase et al don't seem to accept coins from certain gambling sites, or so have i read, while they don't have a problem with mixers.
You'd think more people would mix their coins coming from gambling sites.

But perhaps it's a very niche market and they don't take up a big % as a whole either.

I would be curious to know where the mixed coins end up, specifically the percentage of mixed coins that end up at DNMs. The article briefly touched on this, but it doesn't appear to be addressed in the chart; I would also like to know the percentage of mixed coin that is proceeds from ransomware.
I know there was a website which displayed all of Chipmixer's outputs. Combine that with some wallet identifiers (Walletexplorer etc) and i'm pretty sure someone could make a nice statistic. I'm quite curious too, but i don't think it'll be much different from the graph linked in the OP (minus the illicit and illegal markets) => mainly exchanges probably.
404  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any services like TheBigCoin? (Pay fiat invoices with Bitcoin) on: August 28, 2019, 09:25:31 AM

I think this could be a pretty popular thing if implemented correctly. I would probably use such a site instead of buying giftcards for amazon @ a 10% markup rate.

I considered the demand too low for such services (maybe wrongly) and the fact there are already a few websites (as quoted) old and established for some.

Basically, I could even process to pay the bills instantly for the EU and use other currencies for others. As well, a gift cards option, (with a 1:1 rate and no crazy rates). Can't say much, in case I was wrong (I'll do a KW research again) but it was something a little more advanced
I mean.. It looks like Bitrefill is thriving, and they are basically offering the same service you would be offering, but they do so with some huge markup rates on most giftcards (as i said it can be up to 10%).
Perhaps people feel more secure with giftcards since they can attach them to their own account...?

If you don't need a lot of liquidity to create something like this, and you can wrap it in a good UI, with clear instructions and detailed information (extended dashboard with shipping information etc.) I think it very well might be worth trying.

Although, i don't really know whether amazon et al will approve of this, since basically you'll be, (if successful) ordering 100s if not thousands of products from the same account(=same IBAN/BIC rather) shipping to different adresses.
I can already see a lot of problems arising whenever you try to scale it..  Undecided

Looking at something like dashbargain, -- it might very well work, but it doesn't seem to be A. automated, or B, very userfriendly. They basically say "submit your order and we'll see about it and send you a coinpayments link later." with little to no other information. I feel like a lot of people that don't know about them aren't inclined to use them.

I don't know, perhaps i'm overestimating the amount of people that actually use Bitcoin for shopping as well, considering other websites removed their BTC payment options after implementing them.
405  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any services like TheBigCoin? (Pay fiat invoices with Bitcoin) on: August 27, 2019, 09:04:09 PM
Check our service https://www.bitbill.eu

We are here since 2013

Hmm. These are all interesting sites.

So what if a site is non-IBAN? If it's a SWIFT /ACH transfer, won't it take like days to clear? I see some potential problems regarding all that.

I do have to say, your prices/fee structure doesn't seem exactly right. (You're charging 3.5% vs the ~2% advertised.) Still, if i compare that to some other exchanges, bitonic et al, you're offering much better rates.

What's stopping someone from cashing out bitcoins using your service? I mean, there's no KYC, right? 1000EUR per transaction goes a long way. I guess my IBAN would be used as some sort of identifier? Or if i'm using another third party service for cashing out you wouldn't have any identifying information. Interesting.

https://bitwants.com/
http://www.dashbargain.com
https://bitcoinsuperstore.us/

I didn't try any of them, just bookmarked long ago because I wanted to create something similar.
Dashbargain should have a topic discussion here if I remember.

If you plan to get a BTC card as suggested, keep in mind some stores don't accept these cards.
I think this could be a pretty popular thing if implemented correctly. I would probably use such a site instead of buying giftcards for amazon @ a 10% markup rate.
406  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CS:GO Skins & BTC on: August 26, 2019, 02:20:47 PM
You can try CS.Deals. However, market is still pretty small.
I don't think CS.deals lets you transfer balances/Skins over the counter to other accounts on the site though. (Plus their markup rates seem terrible.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you specifically looking for a p2p exchanges for BTC <-> skins? If so, you can try out Sythe.org. It's a marketplace forum so if you want the best deals, the best way is to always put up your own buy offer. I prefer trading the reputable sellers though. Try it out.
I think he's looking for a site where he can buy a skin and transfer the skin to his friends steam account instead of his own. (so that he doesn't have to wait a week, or whatever it currently is.)
Bitskins doesn't allow the transfer of skins nor balances. I don't know of any site that does allow for this.

Looking at that site, it looks pretty user unfriendly and probably involves a lot chatting + perhaps markup rates. doesn't really compare to something like Bitskins.

407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can identify off-topic?? on: August 26, 2019, 02:00:06 PM
Please anyone help me to identify off-topic post... Recently I posted several post in signature but forum moderators deleted due to off-topic post?? Have any way to identify off-topic post??
Them not being related to the topic that's being talked about or overly rehashing previous answers. (Obviously)

Looking at your post history i only see bounty reports and or things such as  "Good project".  These simply don't add any value or content to anyone reading them.

That's kind of funny.

"Hey we leaked your personal data including your face, SSN, and or other fingerprints, sorry about that, but hey, why don't you come back to our platform and we'll give you a DISCOUNT on the fees you pay US if you use our platform again."

dude's nuts.

I'd probably think about taking them to court if i had found they were so negligent with my data, but where the hell are they even based.. I have a feeling that if you're a victim of this, there's not much you can do.

409  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I created a wallet Electrum, but the blockchain Explorer doesn't see its address on: August 24, 2019, 02:55:16 PM
Also, keep in mind there is a way on Electrum to show legacy addresses to send and receive funds.

Do you mean you can have a legacy address to receive and the coins will be in the same private key as the bc1 address?
they're on the same private key, but the bc1 adress isn't used and thus you don't get any benefits from it.

As in, you can't magically transfer coins from your legacy adress to your bech32 adress despite them having the same private key. you still need an onchain transaction to do so = pay fees.
410  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I created a wallet Electrum, but the blockchain Explorer doesn't see its address on: August 24, 2019, 12:20:54 PM
Blockchain.com don't support bech32 addresses (that start with bc1). Use other block explorers: BTC.com, Blockchair or Blockonomics.

could there be problems in the future with this address?
Yes. Certain services like blockchain.com won’t recognize it. And thus wont see your payment etc. I’ve had troubles with certain payment processors, but these will likely update their code to also see and accept bech adresses in the near future.

But if you mean if your funds will ever be stuck on the adress; no it is highly unlikely that the network will somehow try to get rid of bech adresses.
411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error message "Error opening block database" on: August 24, 2019, 12:05:02 PM
Might be useful to post the debug log here if you want people to look into it a bit further.

It sounds like your files are somehow corrupted though.
412  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Quote Notifier on: August 23, 2019, 08:29:13 PM
Honestly, i don't understand why this feature still isn't implemented natively in SMF.

All these mention bots are kind of useless when you don't know who has their mentions enabled, and who doesn't. (edit:This bot only does quotes, but i also saw a different bot that did @*s)

Although i guess quoting also mentions you, still, it's all pretty user-unfriendly... Would it be so hard for theymos to natively implement something like this in SMF like he did with the merit system?
I know it's supposedly in the new forum but looking at the timelines it's a pretty difficult guess grasping when / if that's ever coming out.

413  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk ad: creativity is at best with extreme simplicity on: August 23, 2019, 01:42:53 PM
I think the ad you're seeing should actually look like this?

Yeah that's how everyone should expect but in this case the advertiser gone with the very basic (A part of their advertising strategy) in my opinion.

Keep refreshing. It was bitcasino
I'm saying i think it's probably an issue with your browser.

Bitscasino have no text-based ads currently in rotation - https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adinfo

415  Economy / Reputation / Re: Yobit, Bit by Bit will take their reputation once again back to normal. on: August 23, 2019, 10:51:41 AM
I think Yobit's issues are insolvable by nature; namely that they're a money-hungry greedy- ponzi scheme-esque exchange with no respect for their customers, as is obvious.

I personally don't think there's much to salvage.

Every ICO they do ends like this; https://yobit.net/en/trade/URANIX/BTC https://yobit.net/en/trade/MOON/BTC , sucking every penny out of every customer who's willing to participate.

I was also told the reason on why they can't even respond here on bitcointalk. They really can't be active here, and that's the reason why I suggested them to hire someone to be their representative to handle the concerns of the users here on the forum.
And so what was the reason exactly?

Also does this mean that Yobit is restarting their signature campaign?
416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucets Risks / Benefits in 2019! on: August 22, 2019, 08:18:49 PM
Hi guys,

Newbie here, I am just adventuring in the crypto world and gathering loads of imformation from all the sources I can get in order to grasp the concept.

Regarding the faucets, as I understand, it is nowadays useless to spend time on them, since the earnings are too low compared to the time and energy consumed.
So, if like me, someone has decided to start earning bitcoin from scratch and without any investment. Where do you suggest I should turn to?

What I am looking for, is to start earning bitcoin, then investing/trading and if I continue winning I would start buying hardware to mine.

I have tried some websites to freelance fr bitcoin but there aren't that efficient, I mean one of the site did not even let me register since they do not need freelancer. Only one project was posted.
I have joined a couple of Faucets which after research showed they are reliable, but as you said, the winnings are peanuts, it is really for when you don' t have anything to do at work and feel like clicking on the mouse.
And so on....

So if you have any suggestion for me, I am all ears.

Honestly.. It's pretty difficult. You could try to take some risk and engage in P2P trading with a high risk processor (Paypal) and catch high fees from buyers (20-30%), other than that, it might actually be smarter to just learn a trade (Programming for example), and either apply that into the BTC world, or simply buy Bitcoins whenever you get your salary from said trade job.

There's really no magic way to earn a lot of Bitcoin quickly. Anything you see that resembles that is either a HYIP/Ponzi, or a scam. (trading signals etc.)
417  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie, help, registered with bitcointalk.com, am in in danger. on: August 22, 2019, 06:42:11 PM

Hi and thanks again for your quick reply.
There is another thread on here that has a list of scam fake sites and bitcoin.com is on there. Here it is. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5130480.0
So, I don't know if the operators are acting in bad faith as the above linked thread seems very trustworthy so I am still unsure as to whether or not I should complete my request for a new password, they have my email.
Bitcoin.com =/= Bitcointalk.com and Bitcoin.com as far as i know isn't malicious in the sense that they steal your passwords, but rather try to sell you stuff you don't actually want.

Quote
So, I don't know if the operators are acting in bad faith as the above linked thread seems very trustworthy so I am still unsure as to whether or not I should complete my request for a new password, they have my email.
It doesn't really matter. If you don't reuse your Bitcointalk.com password anywhere else in combination with the email you signed up with to Bitcointalk.com, there is nothing to worry about.

The most they could do with your email if it doesn't have the same password as it has on Bitcointalk.com is to bruteforce it, which is, if your password is longer than ~10 characters, very improbable. If you have something like Authy/2 Step Verification, it becomes impossible.

Quote
I always use different usernames and  passwords for each website I visit but I am worried as they have my email.
I have other types of non bitcoin forums that I use the same email for, but the passwords on these sites are diffferent to the one I used for bitcointalk.com.

Are you saying I should change my password for each site with that same email on, or do you just mean that site as that site is the only one with that password?
You should only change your password on sites that use the SAME password as you used on Bitcointalk.com, (which you said, you didn't, so there should be no problem.)
Quote
Also, should I stop using that email on future sites I might register with, ie, again, non bitcoin sites?
No. Just make sure that when you register on a new site, you use a different password than you used on Bitcointalk.com, that's all.

I am not tech savvy and am worried my question may not seem decent but I need an answer to it, as it involves possible lost bitcoin/litecoin?

Thanks in advance
It never hurts to ask. If you're looking to (potentially) recover some Bitcoin, your best bet would be to ask your question here -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=4.0 (If it's related to recovering certain wallets that is?)
418  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie, help, registered with bitcointalk.com, am in in danger. on: August 22, 2019, 06:18:56 PM
Hi thanks again for your quick reply, much appreciated.
I am not worried about being hacked here, I am worried about being  hacked on bitcoin.com after reading the information on here.
I'm not tech savvy so I don't know how they would try to phish me, but reading the information on this thread made me think that registering with bitcointalk.com was a really bad idea.
What should I do to remove myself from bitcointalk.com and can I post my question on here, it is about bitcoin and litecoin?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I guess you could change your password to an enormous long string of characters and numbers. Assuming that the operators of that site are not acting in bad faith ( which i so far have not seen evidence of) one would hope they would store salted hashes of your password (encrypted), and thus even if that site gets hacked, the hackers won't be able to use it anywhere.

If the operators are acting in bad faith, which you seem to suspect-- they already know the current password + email you have set. In which case you need to think twice if you used that password + email on any other sites as well. If so, your best bet would probably be to change the passwords on those sites, and not on Bitcointalk.COM since they already know your password.. (Although it probably won't hurt to also change your password on Bitcointalk.com, but you'd have to assume that everything you change your password to is logged somewhere.)

Quote

As long as you have no information on Bitcointalk.com that could reveal your identity, you could probably just let it be.

If it's some what decent and on the right sub-board i'm pretty sure it'll be allowed.
419  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie, help, registered with bitcointalk.com, am in in danger. on: August 22, 2019, 06:05:24 PM
Hi thanks for your quick reply.
Sorry my post was unclear. I will clarify. I had a bitcoin question and reigstered with bitcointalk.com.
I know this site is not related to bitcointalk.com now that I have read info on here.
I made a post on there but didn't hear anything, and when I revisited it the post had been removed.
I pm'd the admin on bitcointalk.com and they said it was removed as it was probably spam, which is wasn't.

My first sentence is related to the request for new password on bitcoin.com, because I read this thread over here and got scared. I thought it would be wise to request a new password on bitcoin.com to stop any phishing danger after reading this thread on here.

After requesting the new password for bitcointalk.com I had second thoughts about the idea of requesting a new password for that site, and don't know whether or not to request the new password with the link they provided in case they try to phish me.

Thankfully I  used different passwords for this site and that site.

Would you be able to advise me what to do regarding bitcointalk.com to protect my safety?
For instance, should I ignore their email  in response to my request to reset the password?
I hope this is clear?
I am not tech savvy. Sorry for any confusion, but all help would be appreciated.

If you have different passwords for your account here and bitcointalk.COM you can already not be hacked here. Resetting your password on that site wouldn't make much sense. -- atleast i don't see how it makes sense.

If you requested a new password, how exactly would they try to phish you?

What the people in the OP are talking about is that they accidentally typed in bitcointalk.COM instead of .ORG, and thus had to relogin with their Bitcointalk credentials. (or so they thought.)
To prevent this from happening to you all you have to do is make sure you're on the right domain. Check if it's .ORG and if has the right layout/and or if it's bookmarked.
420  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie, help, registered with bitcointalk.com, am in in danger. on: August 22, 2019, 05:43:14 PM
Hi
I registered with bitcointalk and made a post, the admin removed it saying it was spam. I messaged admin back and said it wasn't spam, a genuine question. They ignored my message.
Okay.. How is this first sentence related to:

I have requested a new password, but after reading this thread, am worried about submitting a new password because I read this thread and thought requesting a new password on that site would make me safe but now not sure. I have a strong third party security software, paid for for protection but worried that I am now vulnerable to be phished. I don't know whether to abandon the request for a new password. Please could anyone advise me what to do?
This?

Safe from what in the first place? Are you hacked? Did you lose access? What do you want to do?

But no, that site is not related to bitcointalk.

Asking for a new password on that site DOES nothing to your account here on bitcointalk. (Unless you give them the same password as that you've set here, in which case they might try to hack you with it (your bitcointalk account). (Is that what you did?)
