4181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often does a block contain NO transactions? on: June 01, 2011, 03:48:49 AM
I see 1 generate transaction!

It looks to be a few minutes after the previous block so I think that miner refused all tx for some reason, maybe testing a ruleset?
4182  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: June 01, 2011, 03:36:30 AM
Freemoney and bitcool:

Will do 50 btc with each of you.

On silver spot price trading below 30 at least intraday before may 31, 2011.

Consider it booked. I just want to know what source you consider valid for this. I watch Kitco, don't know if that's lame or rigged or whatever.

Wow, when silver was at 49 I thought I had a lock. Not so sure at all now!

I am happy to pay you the 50btc each if it does not fall another 4.9$ :-)
I made a very good trade as I shortened massively between 45-49 $ and now it is 34.9$.

Looks like I survived.

Wow, talk about screwing the poor. You have to work and pay Bitcoins and all you get is govBucks.
4184  Economy / Economics / Re: Future of Bitcoin. Some questions. on: May 31, 2011, 08:27:43 PM
If you think the base unit will be awkwardly too valuable then you should be buying, lol, even if it was strictly impossible to drive further.
4185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explaining Bitcoin to regular people on: May 31, 2011, 07:28:03 PM
"it's like PayPal without the fees."

easy.  (forget who first said that - sorry.  it wasn't me.)

just get them pumped about commerce in Bitcoin.  explain the security and how fast it is.  and how unstoppable and essentially unregulatable.

and how appreciation of the exchange rate is beneficial in commerce.

skip the tech, and the mining.  if they want to know, they can find out.

You need to say that it isn't dollars or they are going to think they have to chance of losing value. PayPal means to people that they get their dollars back (eventually, lol).
4186  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ubitex second offering. on: May 31, 2011, 11:36:18 AM
500 shares at 5 BTC each. Get them while you can, believe me there won't be any left after the announcement on Wednesday.

What percent of the company do those shares represent right now?
2000 shares exist.

Thanks. Do you list assets/cash and plans publicly somewhere? I'm outta the loop on this.
4187  Economy / Economics / Re: Bootstrapping the Bitcoin Economy: Attracting Vendors on: May 31, 2011, 11:21:08 AM
A problem for a vendor is the rapid change of value for bitcoins.

I have something to sell, it cost me $5 to produce. I want some profit so I'll sell it for $7 in my shop. Now to sell it for bitcoins I want some insurance because the risk is still high, and I need to convert it to other currency as described above, and there are fees. I'll set a price of 1BTC which just happens to be $9 right now.
Tomorrow it seems that 1BTC isn't worth $9 anymore, it's worth $12 and my products are now very expensive, so I adjust price to 0.75BTC, and the day after that BTC has dropped to $6 and I'm now losing money on each sale. Time for another adjustment.

This takes time and isn't as fun as you'd like to think.
I think this is something that will make vendors think twice.

Check out the latest Bitcoin Sun. I have an article explaining how an options market will help merchants solve this more easily.
4188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will buy your bitcoins for cash in london, UK Today! on: May 31, 2011, 10:54:50 AM
Looks like a craigslist adult services ad, except you're wanting bitcoins, and not a man to...

Why don't you just use an exchange? Britcoin is a good one.

He wants immediate satisfaction. In person trades are great imo.

This belongs in the marketplace though.

Holy shit!  I got my new source for condoms!

Bad move, going to hurt his diaper sales.

You guys must have way more faith in humanity than I do. I think we are a bunch of animals and what you do with a violent animal? You put it down.

Freemoney, I disagree. People should take responsibility for their crimes and be punished.

sortedmush, I am not talking about initiating violence. I am talking about responding violence to violent actions. Tenfold! Actually, I think, any aggression should be met with such retribution, that even thinking about consequences would cause cold sweat. I don't think the world will lay down weapons in any other way.

And this system of fear and punishment is already in place, except the aggressor is our masters. People won't refuse to deal with them, because they fear. They fear of losing jobs, of breaking laws, etc.

I propose to put the power in the hands of people.

How are you going to put power in the hands of people who refuse it?
4192  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where can I buy a flash drive with Bitcoins on it? on: May 31, 2011, 10:35:21 AM
FlashBitcoins: Like bitcoins, but as slow as the mail.
4193  Economy / Economics / Re: Why did hyperinflations happen? on: May 31, 2011, 10:20:24 AM
If no one has faith in a currency how does printing more of it help? If I don't trust usd when I can get bread for $3 why on earth would I tryst it when $30 or $300 gets be the same bread. It like you not trusting me but me expecting you to trust me because I keep throughing myself in your face.
How does that work? It almost makes 0 sense... from a logical standpoint.

Stockholm syndrome.  I wish I were joking.

It isn't literally zero faith until it's all over. As long as there are some people still taking some amount for actual stuff it continues.
4194  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buy a real Silver Coin from Midas Bitcoin on: May 31, 2011, 10:01:50 AM
Do you at least include shipping in that high price?
4195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early speculator's reward antidote on: May 31, 2011, 09:01:32 AM
This is interesting. What happens if I have 50 fresh high difficulty coins and Satoshi sends me some of his early ones to that address. Will I still get full credit if I send you 50?
4196  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Coming Soon: BitCoin Options Trading on: May 31, 2011, 08:31:06 AM
[{"num_asks": "5", "best_bid": "None", "underlying": "BTC", "num_bids": "0", "num_active": "None", "strike": "12.0000", "closedate": "2011-08-04", "type": "call", "best_ask": "4.0000"}]

So this means someone has offered to deliver a coin on Aug 4th at $12/BTC in exchange for $4 now and is willing to do that for up to 5 coins. Do I have that just right?

Someone should point them to the BitcoinMan who's been wandering the streets of NYC.
4199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to mining with a sudden drop in value? on: May 30, 2011, 10:37:30 PM
Miners would continue mining, but only accept the people who pay large transaction fees.

Won't they make less since they are turning away fees they used to get?
4200  Other / Off-topic / Re: Adam Kokesh and friends get arrested for dancing on: May 30, 2011, 10:36:32 PM
As long as cops are shooting soldiers, I'm a happy guy. They are the same breed of animals that have to be put down.

I'd argue this kind of behavior is way more dangerous than just shooting someone and forgetting about it. All people who saw this, now have a mental picture what will happen if they disobey cops.
It's the same whenever there is a protest. Turn on your TV and you'll see an interview with some random guy telling millions how he came to a peaceful protest, but found it to be very dangerous place. This is how people are discouraged from expressing their opinion and put into submission to increasingly oppressive regime.

Soon you'll have to dress, walk, talk and think like your government tells you. Which reminds me of a certain gentleman:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx6jMYene5E

He was an ex-soldier. Our only chance at a peaceful world is if people feel safe as ex-soldiers and ex-politicians. If the only way to be safe is to align yourself with the biggest gang then we're going to have one damn big gang.
