3501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Flexcoin offering user defined cold storage! on: August 19, 2011, 07:41:56 PM
That "flood" would have to destroy a physical bank vault..  As well a other backup locations offline

So the insurance will be really cheap?
3502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I think I0Coins should retain value, if not increase... on: August 19, 2011, 05:15:00 PM
Their launch was notably "clean" when compared to either IXCoins or Bitcoins. That's one advantage. If both were valued equal, people would prefer i0coins over actual Bitcoins.

Bitcoin wasn't really "launched" so much as it was rolled out.  There wasn't much fanfare when the first blocks started being mined out, and this was entirely due to lack of awareness of the project.  Both IXCoins and I0Coins suffered from their own set of issues which are discussed in other threads.  And however much I'd like for I0Coins to be valued at 1:1 to Bitcoins, I don't think anybody would want them more than Bitcoins since you can't really do anything with them except trade them in for Bitcoins.

Does anybody else find it weird that the term "Bitcoin" gets a red underline on this board? Smiley

The board doesn't give the redline, it is from your browser (is it?). Right click, add to dictionary.
3503  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Could the Power of the Bitcoin Miner Network be Used Elsewhere? on: August 19, 2011, 03:47:05 AM
The network absolutely is doing computation. If it stops computing what it's computing of course it could compute something else. It can't compute some other thing at the same time.
3504  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you actually use bitcoin for? on: August 17, 2011, 06:42:59 PM
I bought hosting, domain name, developer (a good one), and graphic designer for my site, firstbits.com, all with bitcoin.

Guerilla logic. I love Satoshi. I love Bansky. Therefore Bansky equals Satoshi.

It sounds like your data directory may have a corrupted blockchain or other files.

The data directory is %APPDATA%\bitcoin, which typically resolves to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin. Before we get started, copy your wallet.dat file in that directory to a USB stick and store it away, and copy the entire data directory to a new location, name the folder bitcoin-backup or such, so you can always put things back as they were before you attempted repair.

The easiest way to rectify this situation is to remove all files from the data directory except the wallet.dat, download a nightly version of the the blockchain from http://bitcoin.bluematt.me/bitcoin-nightly/blockchain-nightly/ , unzip these files into the bitcoin data directory, and launch bitcoin again and let it update to the latest block.

Owe you some coin.

Post or PM address.

So we can perform and then sell tokens for bitcoins?
3509  Economy / Services / Re: Need a logo on: August 07, 2011, 02:54:07 AM
It is for a poker site, sealswithclubs.org.
3510  Economy / Services / Need a logo on: August 06, 2011, 11:49:16 PM
I'm looking for a seal (the animal) showing it's belly. On the belly is a tattoo of three clubs (like a caveman's club) arranged to look like a club (playing card symbol). The seal is wearing sunglasses. The seal is grey.

I'm looking for good work and probably a few drafts. If you can do it let me know and offer a price.
3511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.3.24 crashing on open in Win 7 [.5BTC bounty now] on: August 06, 2011, 10:37:44 PM
Haven't got the new data yet, but clearing out the old let it run, so I think I'm fixed.

Thanks trying now.
3513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / 0.3.24 crashing on open in Win 7 [.5BTC bounty now] on: August 03, 2011, 03:12:09 AM
It says:

Exception: NSt8ios_base7failureE
CAutoFile::read : end of file
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin.exe in AppInit()

Then when I press OK I get the same thing again and then it tells me that runtime has terminated the program in an unusual way.

I'm guessing something important on my machine is corrupt?

Bounty added.

3516  Other / Off-topic / Re: Got a pension? on: August 01, 2011, 03:34:34 AM
I don't see why people don't just save normally and leave enough left for retirement.

Um, what is saving normally?
3517  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 19 x 19 portable GO set available at Bitcoin Harbor on: July 30, 2011, 01:09:07 PM
I am the manufacturer of the game. The games are manufactured one by one on demand.

I hope you like it Smiley

I didn't realize that. That at least makes it interesting and it makes sense that some would want it at that price.
3518  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dragon's Tale Computer Game That Gives You BTM's or 0.001 BTC on: July 30, 2011, 12:43:10 AM
I'm positive teppy would not let his game mine on your machine without telling you. Something must be wrong, it should not be using that much thinking juice.
3519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitLaundry re-opens with exciting new security features you can't see! on: July 29, 2011, 11:49:13 PM
It just occurred to me that you could ensure different coins by giving up the time promise. Essentially one would run a 1x 'pyramid'. You could let people choose a "give up" time too where they just get their own coins back.
3520  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 19 x 19 portable GO set available at Bitcoin Harbor on: July 29, 2011, 07:16:54 AM
Your dollar price is bad too. It is easy to price in bitcoin, silly reason imo. Maybe you can negotiate a lower price from supplier. Good luck.
