461  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 1300$ for University re-admission, paying back 1400$ within February 29 on: February 06, 2024, 04:28:46 AM
I don't usually tag the newbies in this section for asking for a loan without collateral, but I come here from time to time and in this case I did because as much as it is a sobbing story it doesn't hold up.

I was a Student of University. I was not able to pay for my university semester exam fees, as a result I got dropout. I am feeling totally desperate now, went to commit suicide but failed, now i leave that thought. Totally helpless now. I want to take re-admission, the university re-admission fees is 1300$, but for now its impossible for me to manage this insane amount of money, not being able to get any helps from anywhere.

How much does university cost in Bangladesh?
Cost of Education in Bangladesh

Education costs are cheap in Bangladesh. It'll cost you around $50-$100 per semester (6 months) in public universities and medical colleges. In terms of private universities, the cost varies from $650-$1000 per semester (4 months/6 months) in Bangladesh.

Source: Education and Living Cost in Bangladesh.

I don't have much times left to get another admission in future. As being a dropout, if i can't re-admit this time I will have to lose all my educational career.

I'm also not going to do much research on how the university system works specifically in Bangladesh because I'm sick of seeing these kinds of sobbing stories that are nothing more than covert scam attempts but I find it very hard to believe that you're going to lose the subjects you've passed simply because you can't pay. I mean, if you are studying a 4 year degree and you have passed 3 years, with those 3, even if you can't pay now, when you can pay in the future you should be able to enroll in the fourth year again, if not in that university in another one where you can transfer your transcript after a transfer procedure or credit recognition.

462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The "loaded slots" scam on: February 06, 2024, 04:11:05 AM
Well, it is clear that as has been commented, if someone asks you to give him money to win a bet you can be sure that it is a scam. But there is one thing that is not so clear to me.

I think there should be more discussion warning about scams here.
This particular scam is pretty old, and goes all the way back to a time where slot machines were physical coin toss and lever machines with actual spinning parts.
Back then it would actually kind of make more sense. A "loaded" machine could in theory give out more rewards.
But people unaware to the scam wouldn't know that hitting a jackpot doesn't actually pay from the money the machine holds anyway even back then. So we're talking about a scam that has been around for ages actually.

Oh no? And where did it pay for it? Out of thin air?

I would appreciate an explanation on this, if possible with link to back it up, because it seems quite counter-intuitive. In modern slots this is clearly not the case, and some time ago I saw a program on Las Vegas in which they explained it but the statement you make seems to me too counterintuitive not to question it.
463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 06, 2024, 04:01:00 AM
A friend of mine sold her bet to me 20k Nigerian naira and I bought it because there was a cash-out on the bet, and the cash out was 20k Nigerian naira.

...

So have you ever taken such a risk on gambe before?

Well, considering that 20K nigerian naira is $14.5 at the exchange rate, yes, yes I have taken risks of that amount and higher. Nigeria being a low GDP per capita country I understand that that $14.5 may feel like higher amounts in other parts of the world, but it still doesn't seem like a crazy bet to me either. It all depends on one's personal situation, that is, income, job stability, savings and investments or dependents. With that in mind I guess that's why the OP experienced it as a high risk situation.

There's more things on teleporting than we see. If a username is teleported, also reputation is teleported
You summed it up very well here. It's vice versa too. So I must say that protect your account on the other forum too so that anything bad does not affect you on this forum too.

Well, no, this summary is not correct. Reputation is not teleported by default, you can pay to have it done, but I don't think anyone is dumb enough to have negative reputation (at least clearly negative, with more negative feedback than positive from DT) and pay to have it teleported.

465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 05, 2024, 03:47:05 AM
Sounds pretty much like a made-up story to me but for the sake of argument I will respond. Personally no, I don't go inviting around with the profits I get from playing poker. I consider it as one more source of income that is added to my total monthly income, with the difference that at the beginning of the month when I make the budget I don't know how much I am going to make that month (not even if I am going to have a profit, but in most months I get some). With that total income I make a forecast of expenses that includes donations and money for leisure where I can buy dinner or drinks. This is how I do it.
466  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happens if someone sells an account on a neighboring forum? on: February 05, 2024, 03:35:13 AM
Personally and as of today I would not leave feedback on any account on this forum because of what happens on another one. If something happens in that forum it is a problem there, as several members have said.

I think in fact that what the OP raises is less of a problem than the opposite: people with a bad reputation here being teleported there, as they don't put problems to people with several red tags to be teleported. But in any case that's that forum's problem, not ours.
467  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betting without losing your money/no need for deposit on: February 05, 2024, 03:25:09 AM
I will agree with the comments of my colleagues that the website has a lot of room for improvement.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't see anything that looks like a casino in the link you provided here; all of it looks like a news site with information about crypto, including why to join and why not to join, and no gambling information.

It is simply a site with affiliate links, if you scroll over the casino banners you will see it.

I'm seeing crypto express, etc., and another thing is, how can I spend my whole time gambling with a free crypto, which can't give me real winning?

If your information is correct and the casino actually does work, it will be no different from a casino that offers a demo account. You try out the features, and when you win some of the free money that you can't withdraw, you will be tempted to deposit and try out those features, which will still lead to losing money if you are not careful.

That's it. The faucets give you free money but it is so little that you can't even withdraw it, unless you spend months with the faucet until you accumulate the minimum amount. It is the way they have to attract people to deposit and bet. freebitco.in is very successful precisely because of that.
468  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies be aware, don't fall into the trap of getting high ROI in Bull Market on: February 05, 2024, 03:18:05 AM
Mostly, greed and the idea of becoming a millionaire overnight lead newbies to getting scammed that easily. If only, people were extra cautious with these internet investments and also inquire from other more experienced people before diving in. Lots would have survived getting scammed.

That and having a minimum idea about how the markets work and the returns that can be obtained, in order to be able to detect right away scams just by the profitability offer. Someone who offers you $400 a day profitability for investing $4,000 is trying to scam you. Period. I'm offered that and I don't think anything else, I know it's a scam. That's why I think we need more education in that sense.

Yes, it seems that he believes he is a reincarnation of Buddha, or at least he tries to pretend so in order to swindle people.

It looks like he went full retard...

470  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best crypto poker site? on: February 04, 2024, 05:30:17 AM
To play poker against the house isn't really poker... the rules are different, and the main problem I see in that kind of poker game is the fact that you can't go all in just like in a normal poker table.

...

And for this reason, the poker that you show us mydna is a bad joke for a true poker player.

I would sum it up by saying that in video poker you can't win money in the long run, it's an EV-game like many other casino games, while in poker you can.

I advise sticking to FIAT gambling sites for poker op primarily because you will find more human players in those sites and the maximum wagering amount cap is usually on the higher side.

Crypto gambling sites that provide poker still lag a lot in both these areas based on my observations.

That's why I only play poker on fiat sites. More security, more variety of games, much better software and more liquidity. I might at some point play on a crypto site, but for regular play there is nothing like fiat sites.
471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: February 04, 2024, 05:21:23 AM
Look at the bright size, you tx is still in the mempool  Grin

Well, the bright side is at this hour that my transaction has been confirmed, so it is doubly confirmed that those who paid 500 sats/vByte are fools with a lot of money.

472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: February 03, 2024, 04:33:00 PM
I think we've definitely made progress in lowering fees on Bitcoin.

Until some morons arrived when the fees were at 30 sats/vByte for confirmation in the next block and dumped about 8-10 transactions paying an average of 500 sats/vByte. How can someone be such a moron?

So I sent a transaction at about 30 sats which was what mempool.space gave for confirmation in the next block, and between that it has taken about 30 minutes to confirm and the next one has also taken a while, I look at mempool.space again and now if you want a quick confirmation you have to spend 553 sat/vB. That is if we don't have more morons overpaying fees. I bet miners are happy because 10k transactions at about 500 sats/vB is about $300K in fees.

That started from a mere 90 minutes ago. The suspected projects responsible are,

- Canchain, https://twitter.com/chainainexus/status/1753524081537036392

- MoBox, https://twitter.com/mobox_official/status/1753795795143565795

Even if they are those assholes you have to be a real asshole to overpay fees like that, although I guess they think they are going to become millionaires and they don't care, but even if they believe that, why such a hurry to have their transaction confirmed and pay so much?
473  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Help out Decentralized Gambling Research - Win $40 in BTC✨ on: February 03, 2024, 04:28:41 AM
It should be emphasized, in case anyone is confused, that you will win the $40 if you win the lottery. You have to answer in survey and then you enter the lottery, so this is not accurate:

To answer the survey and win the $40 BTC reward, visit our survey at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5483224.0

I understand that it is partly marketing and a way to encourage people to complete the survey but it would be more accurate to say "To answer the survey and have a chance to win $40..." or something similar.
474  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: February 03, 2024, 04:21:04 AM
I continue with my task of "spying" so to speak, from a distance, of the other forum and it has caught my attention that the last people asking to be teleported, at least some of them, say that they are not allowed to post external links, like Lida93 and Lucius.

Does anyone know if there has been a ban on this? I understand this refers to the requirement that the altcoinstalk admin asked to post a link in the profile here linking to the Altcoinstalk profile. I imagine it helps with SEO. However, he has teleported those members, so if links to Altcoinstalk are banned from here he is going to teleport people anyway.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 03, 2024, 04:13:20 AM
Second thread I read today, second piece of crap I read. To say that this is a benefit is a bad joke that I would like Leo to be active and as a health professional he will explain it to you, OP. At most we could say that it is a way to avoid a specific health risk that this person has, but talking about the health benefit of online gambling in general because of what happens to this person in his particular case does not make sense.
476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 📢 ₿ Bitcoin will replace Dollar? Even celeb venture capitalists are saying this on: February 03, 2024, 04:06:06 AM
Could you guys remember this early-stage BTC investor? Draper is the first strong hand who dared to say BTC would hit 250K when Bitcoin was trading below 4k per unit in 2018! He spread this possibility of Bitcoin to the whole world from Draper University by arranging a blockchain party.

I don't get it. You open a thread all excited about this guy who made a failed prediction about the price of Bitcoin? You might as well open one about McAfee and his promise that he was going to eat his penis on national TV if the price didn't reach $1M by 2020. And, yes Draper bought Bitcoin which has appreciated in value just as McAfee also had Bitcoin.

I am a Bloomberg TV show fan,. Last Tuesday it caught my eyes when I saw Draper in a LIVE TV show on Bloomberg with this heading- Why Tim Draper Is Still Bullish on Bitcoin

Is there any Bitcoin holder that is not bullish this 2024? I don't care if he is bullish or not.

Don't you ever really think that the day is not far away when people will no longer ask for dollar for anything?

Draper could have promised to eat his dick if that doesn't happen soon.

If I am to be realistic, I'd say that such a day is not in the horizon.

Of course not, I guess what Draper is doing is propaganda to encourage more people to invest and to increase the value of the Bitcoins he has.
477  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 02, 2024, 04:37:01 AM
Well, I believe that 2024 will be bullish and it should be if the pattern of previous cycles is repeated, apart from the fact that there are other indicators that help, such as the relaxation of interest rate policies by central banks. What happens is that I don't think they will close absolutely positive, although we would like to. If I have to opt for the month will close with the price higher than now, but not much, perhaps between $45K and $50K, no more. For the following months, before halving, I would expect some dip.
478  Other / Meta / Re: Complete overview of users on DT1 and DT2 and their ratings on: February 02, 2024, 04:27:41 AM
I'm jumping ahead to the update after theymos has reshuffled DT, simply to say that one notices that the system is very improvable when I entered DT the first month I had the opportunity (last December), fulfilling the criteria for the minimum, last month I was in DT2 with only strenght 1 and now I am again in DT1, in this case with strenght 3. I don't know if the lottery is to give more opportunities to everyone, but it has a component of chance that doesn't seem very logical to me.
479  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: February 02, 2024, 04:20:05 AM
Before starting any kind of economic activity it is better to do some research, but what the OP says is not a question of research, it is a question of someone who has a problem and there is no research that is worthwhile.

Once someone is addicted with gambling it very tough to reverse him back. Most of the case they don't stop before losing everything. I am not sure what should I suggest actually.

I'm sorry but in those cases I prefer to stay away, unless it's your brother or a case like that. It has to be the person who makes a conscious decision about it, which they usually only do after they have hit rock bottom.
480  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: In the Future All Crypto Exchanges Will Become Decentralized - Justin Sun on: February 02, 2024, 04:12:26 AM

The link doesn't work for me. It says page not found.

Do you believe this?

What I think is that he smokes some really good shit and that's why he says those things.

I have an opposite prediction of the view of Justin Sun. I think the government will soon begin to clamp down on decentralized platforms to enable them to gain control over the crypto industry. They intend to achieve control by enacting strict regulatory laws that might force these exchanges to give out the details of their users.

It is no longer a matter of precision, it is that if we look at what is happening now, and what has happened the last few years we have that a lot of people buy and sell Bitcoin on CEX, apart from leaving their holdings there or in custodial wallets. In addition, the legislations in place are aiming to control more and more Bitcoin transactions.

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the US  is an example of such a move. This law mandates decentralized exchanges to report details of any transaction that is deemed suspicious. This law will make DEXs go through the same money laundering and anti-terrorism regulations that CEXs undergo. Any decentralized platforms that refuse to abide by these laws might be banned from operating in such countries.

Well, that's it. We are heading towards a future with less privacy and less freedom, not the other way around.
