^  Funny you mentioned hyc, I was just thinking about him and wondering how the Monero devs became close to him that he eventually became a Monero dev himself.

All I know is hyc was still developing LMDB and I think fluffypony and the guys approached him and requested for him to port LMDB to 32bit so it could be used for Monero..?  Is that right?

But what I really want to know is did hyc make optimizations in LMDB specifically for Monero so that it could get the most performance from the database?
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2023/2024 on: December 21, 2023, 12:43:36 PM
^  I'm amazed to see what Unai Emery has done for Aston Villa because it was what he was hired and set out to do at Arsenal but was not able to do it over there.  With Aston Villa, he went in there with totally no expectations that they will be at the top 4 by Boxing Day.  Lol.  Maybe not 'totally no expectations' but I'm pretty sure it was very low at the start of the season.

But it did help them get to where they are due to Chelsea and Man United's underperformance in the league.  Newcastle too, considering how much was spent on transfers.

Anyway, hilarious match of the weekend:  West Ham vs Man United.  Cheesy Cheesy  Could see this ending with 2 - 1 or a 1 - 0 score line.  The genius Moyes will never forget.  Grin

West Ham draw no bet at 1.84.

Only 3 users get 4/7, it is a proof that it is getting more unpredictable recently. So bad luck for the matchday 17 as I got 0/7 lmao. I was expecting that Saka, Salah, and Sterling will give me at least 3/7 but all were wrong. How about you guys @tokeweed and buwaytress? Did you guys manage to get additional points for the 100/100?

Same three players who did a dud on me. Salah was particularly painful as he's scored against United more times than any other Prem League team. I felt the force of history would prove too strong to overcome.

Bowen was my only hit, so I'm prepared to say goodbye to my 100 aim (only 25 so far). Guess it's all about the grand prize for me now,

I got 29 points...  :/  But I think with your 25 points with still 20 match days to go, you could still get to a hundred with a little bit of luck.  And how high would a player be at the wrong side of variance at every match?  Like Salah for example.  Unless he's having a really bad year I don't think we'll see him not scoring a goal in most of the matches he's in.  Same with a players like Haaland, Bowen, Watkins and Son.

Anyway, make your Majestic 7 picks asap guys.  First match starts a couple of days early in preparation for Boxing Day.

Let me start.

Eigenlayer  — Ethereum restaking protocol. They have points system that tracks your contribution, this points could be used in future similar to Jito where points were used for proportional airdrop.

You can read about Eigenlayer's points system here.

Quote
A measure of your total EigenLayer restaking contribution. Based on amount of ETH staked over time, in units of ETH per second.

Website: https://www.eigenlayer.xyz/

I haven't realy looked into Eigenlayer and I assumed it's just another L2 that's not gonna get much TVL as the space is so saturated with these new L1 and L2 projects.  Lol.  But after seeing TIA's pump, I can't help but think that we should be more open minded in all the easy money floating around.

Another project that could be huge and that could have a successful airdrop is Monad.  I've been looking more closely into it and from what I've seen, their devs seem pretty good and seem to know what they're doing.  I think it's going to be my yolo trade for the next full on bull market.

MATCHDAY 17

Onana clean sheet at Anfield was definitely not on my bingo card.

fortunejack.com/m-7

-ADante

As player fatigue starts setting in, the matches somewhat get weirder and tad more unpredictable.  The results mostly stay the same...  A top club usually wins vs an inferior club but how it plays out gets more unexpected.

Anyway, match day 18 starts a couple of days early...  Get your picks in and don't miss out from getting a chance at that 10k.  :/

My picks for this round of fixtures are Watkins, Bowen, Son, Willian, Solanke, Salah and Hwang...  I didn't really look into them if they're out, injured and what not.  Just went with it.  Let's see how it goes.  Cheesy Cheesy
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 20, 2023, 01:29:37 PM
If Tony Ferguson would not allow his resignation I think Dana White should arrange some farewell fight for a legend like Ferguson, as surely Tony Ferguson saved a lot of events in the UFC and it was thanks to him if he doesn't accept those short notice fights back then for the UFC, so I think UFC is really grateful for a Tony Ferguson but the Situation is something different and for sure a Tony Ferguson just needed some explaining and convincing first and if that doesn't ring something on Ferguson then I think the UFC needs to drop the bombs on him that the UFC is not needing him anymore, or offering him a large amount for good,

Dana can only arrange a farewell fight only if Tony agrees to retire. Otherwise it would be just another fight. No one can force Tony to retire other than himself though and I don't think he's ready to do that.
If he decides to carry on fighting, UFC has two options: release him from his contract and let him go to a different organisation, or just make him fight lower-ranked fighters for much less money. The first option should be much more profitable for Tony, as he could still capitalise on his fame, despite all the losses.

And the thing is the UFC cannot not give him a new contract because he's still such a draw.  If the UFC refuses him a new contract he could just go to another organization like the PFL and be a draw there anyway.

So yeah...  Even though Ferguson is on a 7 fight skid, he still has leverage on the UFC and he knows it.

Anyway, this three week lull sucks and there isn't any PFL events going on too or Bellator.  :/

Here's a teaser for what's up for 2024 in the UFC.

UFC Announces 2024 Event Schedule

It's a partial schedule but it looks like it's gonna be another good year of fights in the UFC.  Can't wait.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Celestia airdrop live on: December 19, 2023, 12:58:53 PM
...Regarding correction, I don't see $TIA correcting much tbh at least until next bears, we'll probably see it in single digit only then.

It looks like we've waited for a correction. The price of TIA decreased from 15 thousand dollars to 11 thousand dollars, which is 26% the price movement without leverage. So this coin continues to provide an opportunity to make a profit for those who have opened short positions.

15k to 11k?  I'm looking at 15 bucks and 11 bucks.  Lol.  Grin

As for the 26% move going down, it's really pretty normal for a new token to make a move like that esp if it made almost almost 8x from where it was ranging at 2 USD.  And mostly the whole market got spooked when BTC started to sell down a bit which is pretty normal too after trending up for a couple of months with decent gains.

Anyway, I really thought BTC's small sell down would make BTC.D drop, kicking off alt szn.  :/

Napoli vs Barcelona, PSV vs Dortmund and PSG against Sociedad should be most interesting matches in this round
and all three without clear favorite IMO

Inter vs Atletico should not have a favorite as well, but I don't think that those matches will be interesting, expect to see one-goal-takes-it-all matches

City, Arsenal, Bayern and Real should not have major troubles to pass through, although Leipzig could make things messy for Real
For current Barcelona there is no easy opponents. Offcourse, there is lot of time until games, 2 months, so, many things can change.
Agree about City and Bayern, while I wouldn't understimate Porto against Arsenal. Leipzig have chances against Real, not sure how big.
Inter - Atletico and PSV - Borussia is 50/50 completely. And as much as I don't like P$G, Sociedad kicking them out would be huge upset

Two legs with Leipzig against Real Madrid, mmmm I don't think Leipzig really stands a chance against a side that has seen what is there to see in European football.  Even with an inferior squad, not even clubs like Man City could ne sure winners against them in a tourney format.

As for BVB at two legs, it's likely not gonna be 50/50.  I think if they play 4 two leg matches between them, BVB progresses to the quarter finals 3 out of 4.  But dunno...  Maybe I should look at these clubs more closely.

Arb has huge unlock coming in March next year, that could hit it a bit but if rally continues, we might continue to go on unscathed. Arb is easy $5-$7, current price is bargain.

Token unlock sites say that around 87% of the current supply is gonna be unlocked around middle of March.  That's huge, almost double the supply.  :/  And knowing it in advance could prevent it from going up to 5 - 7 bucks imho.  Why buy ARB when you could ape in other tokens that go up?

And ARB looks to me like it's the laggard of the market.  TVL and stablecoin market cap are good but nobody really cares to ape in the token.  Not sure why this is.  Arbitrum is like the best L2 out there rn.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 18, 2023, 12:45:29 PM
It's funny how Ferguson isn't the fighter he was around 4 - 5 years ago but the fans can't seem to stop talking about him.  It's prolly why the UFC likes keeping him around because he's still a good draw who could help sell PPV's.  Think about it...  Why would a guy with a 6 fight losing streak still get a spot in a PPV in one of the hest cards of the year?  He wouldn't be there if he didn't make it better.

Was rooting for Ferguson but there's no way he's winning vs Pimblett.

And speaking of Pimblett, the guy should leave his camp for a better camp to improve.  His physical attributes are there and you know he could be a better fighter but I feel like his camp isn't gonna be the one to get his best out of him.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆Rollbit.com | Champions League Pool | $11,000+ in Prizes ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: December 18, 2023, 12:35:25 PM
^  City got lucky on the draw like they did last year.  They had pretty soft fixtures on the way to the finals if I remember it right.

Napoli vs Barca is gonna be a good one.  And with Barca losing to lesser clubs in their group stage, we couldn't really rule out Napoli progressing to the quarter finals.

Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid could obv go either way too.

The rest could give us some surprises but I think mostly the favorites go through.
493  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for December on: December 17, 2023, 01:21:29 PM
As per tradition of these threads, I locked the poll at the middle of the month.

Even though we're seeing BTC go down a bit, it's still up 11% for the month which is really good imho.  Looking at the monthly chart if you use candle bodies instead of wicks as resistance or support, the next resistance could be around 46k for the flip.  If we go up through that and it flips 46k from resistance to support, we could see BTC go after the highs.

I think I have an idea what the next poll would be...

494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Celestia airdrop live on: December 17, 2023, 01:06:26 PM
^  Mmmm we could see it go down at around at 8 - 9 bucks before full on bull market but looking at the chart dunno...  TIA has already flown up there and isn't looking like it's going to stop anytime soon.

I guess the lesson here is try to look for new L1's with good devs who are trying to make a network that's decentalized enougn, that's fast and cheap to use.  Paying for 30 bucks in Ethereum per swap is fcking dumb.  It's prolly why people are moving to Solana lately.

Anyway keep your eyes peeled for any new L1's.  I'm looking at something that hasn't been released yet.  I will make a thread about it later.  Grin

I was expecting an early finish in both championship fight. I can even say that was disappointed. Only Rakhmonov did his homework well. And Tony vs Pimblett fight went as expected. Once again Tony looks tired in the octagon. Walking, blocking with head, makes 1 or 2 dangerous moments and that is it, he runs out of everything.

I kinda expected the co main event to go exactly how it went.  Pantoja kinda got tired up there but was able to carry on and avoided giving Royval the momentum.  But yeah, the main event was a huuuge let down.  I mean after hyping everybody up at the pre fight press conference he wasn't able to back it up.  Covington didn't look like himself up there.

Here's the post fight press conference.  I usually just skip the vid to Dana White and hear what he has to say about what's next and what match ups are coming.  I think it's gonna be another awesome year for UFC fans.

496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Celestia airdrop live on: December 16, 2023, 01:55:08 PM
Ok, so $TIA is now trading close to $6 and I'm starting to feel regret for selling early. If someone has solution to this market infatuation with when you sell it goes up and when you buy it goes down, kindly let me know  Roll Eyes

Considering the fact that the coin has doubled its value again in the last month, reaching the $13 mark, I am also beginning to regret that I sold my airdrop too soon. But I did not expect that after listing on major exchanges, the price would start to increase so rapidly, making it impossible to buy it again at a lower price.
Thats unfortunate theres a lot of airdrop for sure while the bullmarket is just starting so better hodl 50% of your airdrop coin for future speculations, I think the reason why TIA pump like crazy is because only few of you got airdrops so selling pressure is not so high unlike previous drops like ARB, UNI, it takes months before they can recover after dumping airdrop sybils.

^  I think it's more like the people in crypto have gotten smarter and there are fewer decent projects to rotate in.  Couple that with most of the market making green weekly candles after green weekly candles...  When you get new decent project like TIA coming along, it goes up hard.  INJ is going up together with it too.  And so are SOL and AVAX.

I'm thinking FTM could go up hard later then it goes on to the next new coins coming along.  So be on the look out for those new projects.
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you be annoyed not knowing the cards that made you fold? on: December 16, 2023, 01:42:14 PM
~
I'd definitely want to know. It's a window to how he plays, after all, at least a part of it anyway. Especially in cases where you folded against him alone. Are there even instances where the winner's hand isn't revealed? At least in my experience winners' hands are usually shown even if everyone else folds, just to make it fair to all.

What site are you playing at?  In most sites it's almost always the player's choice to show or not if everybody else folded around him.  The game would be pointless if it's required for anybody to show their cards after everybody folds.  Poker is a game of incomplete information and it should be used at the best of the player's abilities even if he decides to show at times when he thinks it'll give him the advantage at the next dealt hands.

And as you said it's a window to how somebody plays.  So if you had the edge over most of the players at the table, would you really want to lose your edge by showing your cards everytime?  :/

Anyway, did you guys watch the pre fight press conference..?  I mean LOL.  Won't spoil it if you haven't but all I can say is Covington is living in Edwards' head rent free.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Colby ate Edwards during conference Cheesy If Edwards gonna be so nervous during the fight, then it is time to load house on a bet Cheesy But, I did not like and accept touching family, especially those who passed away, to get in the head during trashtalk.

At first my initial reaction was like 'whoa' and and lol'd but after the whole thing, I realized that was something fcked up to say to somebody.  In my head it didn't process right away as I thought Leod Edwards' dad was just in jail or something.

Anyway, looking more closely at the event's roster I think there's like 10 underdogs who could find a way to win.  The two favorites who look like their locks are Rakhmonov and Pimblett.  :/  The match making for this one is excellent so I hope everybody watches it.  It's gonna be sooo good.

I have a bad feeling about the Ferguson vs Paddy fight. Obviously as a fellow Liverpool fan I want Paddy to win but I dunno, I think it will be a big test for him. Ferguson is a seasoned fighter, a real yard dog.

Sorry to say that this match up looks like it's a set up for Pimblett to win it.  I like Ferguson but the prime Ferguson is gone.  He could get KO'd here.

And tbh I don't mind his trash talk that much.  Ian Garry tho, lmao.  The guy is annoying af.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you be annoyed not knowing the cards that made you fold? on: December 15, 2023, 12:49:54 PM
You are at the poker table and then one guy on the other side raises the plot to $20 and then another $50. Knowing your pair may not win if he has a higher pair, you decide to fold.

If I were on the table, I would like to know what his cards are so that I can know sometime in the future whether he is bluffing or not but he just mixes his cards with the rest of the pile without me knowing what they are. I'd feel like I am cheated.

Would you just be annoyed not knowing the cards that made you fold?

You shouldn't be because if the tables were turned and you were making the moves, be it a bluff or not, and your opponent fold you wouldn't want him to know if it was a bluff or not.  If he really wants to know then he should pay and make the call.  Lol.

That's where the skill comes in when you're playing poker, esp in no limit and pot limit games.  It's not totally about the cards, it's your bet sizes, your reads and how you could manipulate your opponents into calling and folding.  And sometimes even making raising.
