Hi, when binding the bitcoin of the purse to the byteball, the bot wrote to me that the binding was successful and I have 0 btc on my wallet. But I have about 0.01 btc on my wallet. The electrum pocket. Maybe the fact is that ten minutes before tying to the bytball, I transferred bitcoins from the exchange to electrum?

This is because you linked via a TX.
When you made the mircotransaction, your wallet moved the rest of your bitcoin to a change address.  So, it's no longer in the address you linked.

To resolve this, you can send your bitcoin back to the address you sent it from.

Or, better is to SIGN from the address it is in now.

Think of your wallet like a real wallet.  You nave multiple pouches.  So, although you have .1BTC, it would be split up between different pouches within your wallet.  You're only look at the balance of your entire wallet instead of the particular pouches it contains.

Love the post.  It answers many questions.

What kind of testing?
Like sending you a tx which causes the eternal syncing private payments issue?

Just really subbing to the thread.

Does the Byteball wallet need to be updated? I've been told that it does but the version I'm using (which is the very first one) appears to be working fine for me at the moment...

1.10.1 is the latest.

Many issues resolved over the last few versions.  Like backups, syncing, DB issues.
I find it hard to believe you're working with the first version.

could you please post the link to this version of the wallet?

You can go to http://www.byteball.org

Or

ByteBall backup 2.6 GB right now
Not bad for one year of existence.

You must mean compressed full node backup.  Actually, my full node (synced) in a zip file is under 2GB.

The DB is over 8GB now.
But, a lite client is under 40mb depending on the number of transactions.

MB = MegaByte
MBB = MegaBlackByte

Michail/ChainSmoker: can you explain how you recovered it?

There are several places in the DB where the data is stored.
Clearing the syncing private is easy to change, but simply deleting isn't enough in case there may actually be payments waiting.
As for the sending with error, it may be trying to combine with a bad item.  So, you can try changing the amount you're sending and the app may not include the bad entry.

In ChainSmoker's case, I had to adjust the DB through trial and error to figure out which entry was causing the problem.  This is how I was able to move out all the GBB except for the single entry.  It's unfortunate that that single entry was made up of the larger 3.47 (actually 3,478,700,000 blackbytes).

Take note that I did not charge anything.  It was only for my personal learning experience.  I could have made things worse.  In this instance, I was not able to recover everything; however, 14GBB out of 17.4GBB wasn't terrible.  It's better than having 0GBB.  Smiley    ChainSmoker obviously had to trust me with his wallet.

Oh yeah, there was an added confusion when he sent me a backup that was prior to the issue and prior to him having sent out some GB causing an issue with the wallet not knowing of a change address, but that was quickly determined.

You're welcome to send me your wallet.   Wink

Anyone here facing this problem of 'Syncing... 11 private payments left' and sometimes 'Syncing... 13 private payments left','Syncing... 16 private payments left'.
This happens to many wallets, I've reported it to Tony, but it's still unclear what causes it.
My wallets work fine while giving this message though.
I had that myself: kept the message "27 private payments left for a while". Then I updated my wallet, shutdown the system and started it again and the message was gone.
Weird error though

There are a few reasons it happens and just as many ways to fix it.

It gets more complicated down the list.   The error is easily fixed; however, if there is an underlying reason, the problem will return with the next transaction.  This is why I don't tell someone how to fix, cause there could be another reason and it's easy to mess things up worse.

There is a few reasons why you would get this issue.  It's possible that you sent GBB/GB, but then did a restore so the GB is spent without the restore knowing it.  Or that you restored a backup and had a GBB sender resend a package, etc.  Also, could have had 2 copies running at the same time (like on a phone and on a pc).  No matter the reason, this can be resolved although a little delicate.   You could send me the DB and I can fix it, but it would require trust on your part AND that I would have a copy of your wallet for the future - not the best solution.   Or, you could start another wallet and send all your funds from the one with the issue to it.

Basically, it's resolvable.   You can PM me directly and I can walk you through a solution.

I never sent GBB only today i tried to spend and got the error. This is actually what happened.I will try to explain
I applied for airdrop and received 7 GBB blackbytes and took a backup so far so good. Now i received 10 GBB blackbytes next month and didn't took the backup. My system crashed and i reinstalled windows.Recovered the backup and got 7GBB blackbytes.I panicked and asked for help and was told to contact tonych because only he can resent the lost 10 GBB so i requested him and he did helped me.I got back my 10GBB back so back to 17GBB.Now from yesterday i am trying to send blackbytes and every time i get the error and also it gets stuck on 'Syncing..11 private payment left'.I restored backup 5,6 times and still the same problem.17 GBB blackbytes are stuck in my wallet and i can't transfer them i don't know why.Bytes (GB) transfer seems to be working fine.

I understand.

So, you can try to resolve this a couple of ways as I suggested.

Send everything you can to a new wallet
or
Send me your backup, I fix it, send it back.  (Then do the first suggestion so that I no longer have access to your bytes).

Guys, what are your prediction for this Airdrop, since the reward is not very high for bitcoin holders but it's great for Byteball holders like me. Will the price of byteball incerase or decrease because of this airdrop? I'm thinking to sell some exchanging to bitcoin but don't know where is the best time, any?
and
so around 11% increase in distribution from this airdrop right? what are your price predictions 1 day before drop and 1 day after drop? is the pre-airdrop pump coming?

Asking the public?  Smiley
Public is normally wrong.
Flipping a coin might make a better prediction.    Wink

I think my wallet is screwed  Cry It showing message on the restore from backup page that
'if you moved this backup from another device stop using on the original one immediately after creating the backup.Never clone wallets. if you need access from several devices, use multisig.'
I restored my wallet 3 times on same PC because i was not able to send blackbytes and still i am not able to send it.I think byteball wallet is treating my wallet as clone.how to fix this?

I've got a couple of days ago a message too that the wallet may be a restore from old backup and such.
I downloaded the last version, I installed it and it started working.
Maybe you have an older version too? You should try an install, at least to rule this possibility out.

(Backup everything you can first, just to be sure).
I have the latest version.Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the problem is not fixed.Deleted 3 times wallet from %appdata%/local/byteball and restored again and it all 3 times created 3 new address along with old address but wallet always stuck at 'Syncing... 13 private payment left'.It's treating my wallet as clone.

I want to manually backup my byteball wallet but having trouble locating where it's stored.

What's default install dir?
Why don't you use the inbuilt full backup feature? You can reach it via the hamburger menu > settings > full backup. This will create an encrypted and optionally compressed backup file. Don't forget to full backup after every ful moon distribution round, because the Blackbytes are only stored locally.

The inbuilt backup feature doesnt work for some users, including myself. This is documented.

Oh?

I think you're talking about issues from many versions back.   I am able to backup/restore from/to any platform.
Only exception is that you can't backup a full node to be restored to an android/ios for obvious reasons (8GB DB).

Please vote for Byteball to be added to coinpayments.net. We need another 773 votes to go.

https://www.coinpayments.net/vote

What is this exactly?  Reads like we are donating funds to something.

Does it offer an exchange?  A way to pay bills with GBYTE if we 'win' the vote?

Quite honestly, I'm not sure myself.  I did buy well over 100 votes to get us to 3rd place.

I don't think the goal is 1000 votes, because you can go over 1000 as the top two have.  It's not a bad thing to advertise byteball though.

Are there any other such media outlets someone could suggest?

should i worry? that's after upgrading to latest v1.10.1 linux wallet...

Did you read the upgrade instructions?

"Linux users who upgrade from 1.10.0 will have to delete all files (but not subdirectories!) in ~/.config/byteball/Default in order to get rid of the annoying (but harmless) popup about profile format. This is because we had to revert to an older version of nwjs to address #201. Backup before deleting."

I had around 5BTC staked on my old byteball account. Yesterday I upgraded to Android O and lost all my apps (Which I assumed was fine, because from previous experience my byteball addresses were the same ones when I reinstalled the app)

But now, I have reinstalled the app and finished syncing, but my addresses didn't come up. I had around three rounds of blackbytes stored in that wallet, so is there any way to get them back?

Looks like you did a complete wipe and install of the OS.  Meaning, all the data is gone.
Same goes for byteball data.

Hopefully you have a full backup or at least a backup of the seed.

With a full backup, you can restore everything.
With a seed backup, you can restore the GB (not GBB).

If i have byteball , do i need to make something to take practice in the distribution ?

No, you will automatically get the byteballs distributed in the next air drop. However, if you want the free blackbytes, you need to ensure that the byteballs are on a linked byteball address. Should be simple enough, though.

There is any instructions how to check if my byteballs on a linked byteball address?
Because i want to get the free blackbytes.
Thanks

Yes,

Go to:   http://transition.byteball.org/

On the search on the top right, fill in your byteball address or your bitcoin address.

i have a lot of black bytes as well. How can I get rid of them? Or use them?

Send them to me.  I'll happily rid them from your wallet for you.

Just PM me and I will send you an invite code to pair with me and make it easy for you to send to me.

I have installed a full wallet, how long dose the synchronization of wallet take, I test the synchronization of full wallet at my computer that pass to 1 hours, the staruse is 0% of new units ,my device is Microsoft suface pro 4.

Full node takes days to sync.  HDD vs SDD is a major time difference.

Few reasons to choose full over light.  Suggested and default is to use a light wallet.
If you don't have a specific reason to have a full node, I would suggest deleting the data folder and setup as a light wallet.
If you have funds in the unsynced wallet, then I can help you through that in a PM.

Do I need to back-up the byteball folder on windows (copy AppData folder) before updating to new version?
I use only the lite version.

You should always backup the folder, but it is not needed.   Changing the version doesn't affect the wallet data.

backup backup backup.   Hard to mess things up if you have backups.
