All this talk about silver, palladium and platinum made me buy more litecoin today.

482  Local / Brasil / O estado deplorável do sistema de pagamentos no Brasil on: July 26, 2019, 10:55:10 PM

483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Store of Value Coin, other than Bitcoin, which one ? on: July 25, 2019, 03:14:07 PM
Litecoin? It is the coin that tries to follow bitcoin price, since it is used for tests.

But we cant even compare it with bitcoin, which is much better.

Gold and silver would be options, if their respective supplies wasnt controlled by central banks. Those who shill for gold and silver, and are against bitcoin, are actually playing at the side of the central banks. The only thing that could free precious metals would be if governments start selling them for bitcoin, thus distributing the supply.
484  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think the President’s recent comments have hurt bitcoin prices? on: July 24, 2019, 04:01:04 PM
Libra is competition to the dollar.

Bitcoin is competition to gold.

That being said, I dont believe anything the US president says about crypto will affect the price of bitcoin. It will affect libra instead.
485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mark Yusko: Bitcoin can go up to $ 30,000 without correction on: July 22, 2019, 03:40:35 PM
It can, but it wont. A rise like that would lead to a big crash.
486  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 22, 2019, 03:11:36 PM
The time I almost died was when I was driving my Piaggio Vespa into a rainy tornado and a parade of Muslim incels happened to be protesting loose women in the middle of the street. I swerved to miss them and broke my pinky finger in the process, from turning the handlebar so quickly. Unfortunately I plowed into a counter-protesting crowd of loose women, taking out their leader, who happened to be roach's mom. It was all a blur of tramp stamps, cleavage and Pabst cans* after that point.

No really, I'm lucky that I've never almost died. Unless you count ego death from a couple of psychedelic overdoses and then the one time I almost had a heart attack after inhaling 3 bongloads of homemade crack.

*For the non-Americans among us, Pabst is a low-quality domestic beer, usually associated with redneck or hillbilly-like qualities.

487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If they banned bitcoin in your Country (just clone a representation of it) on: July 19, 2019, 12:22:05 PM
If they ban, I can use BISQ to trade it.

And if the price reaches 50k, I get out of the country.
488  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Rogue Wave on: July 19, 2019, 12:12:46 PM
Why would the global elite create a slow, inefficient, hard to scale, trust-minimized blockchain/financial network, which they can't fully control, to compete with the current "666 system" that the own, and fully control?

For the same reason that Hollywood created the P2P protocol, to pirate their own movies.  Grin
489  Economy / Speculation / Re: This bitcoin news writer wants bitcoin price down on: July 16, 2019, 02:45:15 PM
This is cheap FUD. Regulation is inevitable, and its the only way to attract institutional money. Look at how the exchanges have their prices manipulated, going down 30% in a matter of days.

The right way would be to implement a self-regulation within the exchanges, through a independent comitee, but since nobody wants to do that, governments will step in, as they always do. Of course, this on the long term will make the price stagnate, like it happened with gold and silver, but I believe we will see six digits before it happens.

Coin Desk: Traditional Money Could Be ‘Surpassed’ By E-Money, Stablecoins: IMF Paper

Quote
A new paper from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) suggests that cash and bank deposits could be left behind as digital money and fiat-pegged cryptocurrencies see greater adoption.

Quote
Banks should be able to stage a fightback against such payment upstarts, offering better services or similar electronic money products, the note continues, but policymakers are warned that some disruption is likely within the banking industry. Even so, banks are likely here to stay, as firms offering these new payment methods may move to become banks themselves and use their data advantage to offer targeted credit.

The original paper can be found here:
The Rise of Digital Money

Interesting.

There is no real opposition between cryptocurrencies and banks in a conceptual level. This opposition only appears in a political level, because the "old guard" of bankers cant adapt to the new technologies. As I already said before, politics is a bad thing, and bitcoin should stay above it.

492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Will Move up 25 -30x Faster Than Gold Says, Max Keiser on: July 15, 2019, 02:58:15 PM
Bitcoin is not ahead of its price.

The bull run will be on the five digits zone, and there is too much ground to cover, if we compare to four digits.
493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin seems to drop faster than rises on: July 15, 2019, 11:41:48 AM
I believe price is being suppressed. It already passed a correction, but its not rising past 13k.

Maybe its the whales from the evil bitcoin SV cult. It is said they have a lot of money to suppress bitcoin.
494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Will Move up 25 -30x Faster Than Gold Says, Max Keiser on: July 13, 2019, 12:24:50 PM
Max Keiser is more rational than John McAfee in this respect.

He pointed out that a lot of actors in the cryptospace suffers from "bitcoin derangement syndrome", which mades sense when someone goes "all in" (in both ways) and cant do anything else in his life without worrying about the bitcoin price. A high exposition (or the lack of it) leads someone to BDS, and thats why I said to not go "all in" and have a more balanced investment, since both FUD and FOMO are bad for your health.

Max Keiser predicted a top of 100k for the entire bitcoin history. I still believe it can go to 1 million in a decade, but a stagnation around 100k mades more sense if we put into perspective the boomer mentality among the ones who can afford bitcoin. The younger generations, which are more likely to adopt bitcoin, dont have money to buy it. Some are even living in cuckpods, because they dont have money for rent. Institutions, on the other hand, have a lot of money, but they are ruled by boomers, who fear bitcoin and dont understand it.
495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitfinex and Tether recent filling affects BTC Price on: July 11, 2019, 12:25:47 PM
Yes, and it will go up.

Bitfinex will just print more tether and move its operations far from New York.
496  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Rogue Wave on: July 10, 2019, 11:49:13 PM
Right now, bitcoin is mostly owned by us plebs. That's why Shelby was referring to the power law distribution of wealth. The state of bitcoin holders is temporarily in violation of natural economic laws while the plebs are in control. The segwit booty theft, and subsequent dump of core BTC for The Real Bitcoin, would shift the balance so as to be in agreement with the power law distribution of wealth.

That is, he supports the status quo, since he (apparently) wants the "global elites" to control it, to justify his conspiracy theories. Even if we hold in legacy addresses, we will not have any use case for it, nor we will be able to sell it, as the market will have died due to the massive Segwit theft. Only these so-called "elites" will have access to very obscure OTC markets. In fact, bitcoin will be dead as a P2P, decentralized project, and will be replaced by a global currency, controlled by a world government, extremely centralized and with the possibility of being easily confiscated at the whim of bureaucrats.

You dont need to read his walltexts, this paragraph above already sums it all up. We will have a massive worldwide dystopia and there will be nowhere to run. Bitcoin is no safe haven, on the contrary, its the mouth of the beast ready to swallow you. Sell all your stash before its too late.

Thats why I dont have patience discussing with /pol/tards. Every conspiracy theory is a dead end. I believe they do it on purpose to make you feel helpless and then throw it all away. Its elaborated defeatism. Thats why I classify this as heavy FUD, the kind of which make R0ach's posts looks like child's play.
497  Economy / Speculation / Re: it easy for bitcoin hit 1 million dollar without lies/bullshit -- sharp logic on: July 10, 2019, 11:31:16 PM
1 million dollars is a complete logical price. There is not enough bitcoin for everybody, and even if we have only 21 million users, the whales still will hold most of those coins.

The price is so low right now thanks to those who want to sell it at that price.

There’s no FUD. And I didn't advocate anyone selling BTC just because of this. I advocated hodling in Legacy addresses.

There is. The entire intent of this thread is of a evil purpose.

You didn't advocate for selling, but that is what will happen in this scenario, it will cause outright panic in the market. People will sell fearing for their money, even if they are holding in legacy addresses. The code will be put into question, PoW will be discredited. Exchanges will close, and even if legacy bitcoin goes to one million, there will be no place to sell it, and there will be no use case for it. In other words, bitcoin will be dead. Only this so-called "elite" will be able to sell it, into their obscure OTC clubs, which bring us to the conspiracy theory stuff.

I've already had my share with internet conspiracy theorists, and today I dont have any more patience to discuss these retarded theories. Here in the forum we have a resident /pol/tard, R0ach. But R0ach is entertainment, you are not, as there is a clearly twisted intent in your words. So Im putting you and the messenger on ignore. You can continue with your walltexts and name-calling, I dont give a fuck. Have a nice day.
499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Analyst Says Bitcoin (BTC) Price Could Hit $100,000 During Next Bull Run on: July 10, 2019, 03:23:54 PM
I hope the exchanges, wallets, etc, start using the bit as a unit of account, when we touch 100k, because there will not be enough bitcoin for everybody, and people feel unconfortable with all those zeroes to the left. With this, the satoshi would become a cent, which is more in line with what people are used to.

Wrong. A satoshi becomes one cent at $1 million, not $100k.

It'd be nice to have a unit of say like 1000 satoshis. One satoshi is too small an amount to use as a unit of account, whole Bitcoins will be too big for most people as the majority of people in the future will only have 0.x or 0.0x bitcoin. Having like a kilosatoshi (ks) would be nice. That way 0.1 BTC could just be called 10,000 ks instead, so the average person who buys bitcoin from here on out would have thousands or tens of thousands of ks, instead of a tiny fraction of btc or millions of sats.

A satoshi is a cent of a bit.

100 satoshis are one bit. 1 bitcoin is 1 million bits.

You can check it in bitcoin-qt. The unit is show as ubtc.
