1141  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5900 by late June. on: June 08, 2018, 05:41:23 PM
We should see another stage of capitulation which should take us in the $4k - $5k range, but it hasn't happened yet for some reason. $5900 by late June does definitely seem possible, maybe even likely.

Yes we are in bear market* but somehow it's not totally a 100% pure bear market because as you noticed, bitcoin bouncing back and rebounding somehow on the process.

That's because, like I said earlier, there is a undercurrent of the latest bull market, in 2017, which had not died, after all this capitulation. This bull channel is still alive and, in the case of a bear capitulation, it will cause a spike to a new ATH very fast.

Its like a tug of war between bulls and bears. A lot of hodlers had been born and tested in 2017, and all the weak hands had got out already. So, its a different situation from 2013-2015, which had a 100% bear domination.

When the price had not rise in May, I assumed we were in a multi-year bear market, but the bullish undercurrent is still alive, so 12-18k is still likely to happen in December, even with the multi-year bear market. Without it, we can reach 100k, specially if a trade war happens between the US and China, which will force a lot of institutional investors to hedge in bitcoin.
1142  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5900 by late June. on: June 08, 2018, 03:34:36 PM
I think 70k or 85k is just overly optimistic. But if I bought BTC at 5800 or 5900 and it went up to 80k that is only a good news even if you are in Altcoins. Personally I don't think it is possible unless if there is a global war. Then BTC would skyrocket as it is a safe haven and the best way to save your assets in a dangerous world.
To explain 5900? It is very easy. No new fresh money. Lack of bullish volume and price movement currently. This is all indicate the increased likelyhood of 5900 like it or not.

There is the risk of a trade war between the US and China. This would have global implications.
1143  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5900 by late June. on: June 08, 2018, 03:06:15 PM
After the late June 5900 we are going to see hopefully some bounce back to 6900. Well some perma bear talking about 3000-5000 price levels and then a huge bounce back to 7000. I am moderate with my 5900. So then we will hit 6900 by middle of July and then early August we will hit 7900. This is the star of the real bull market.  Then end of August 8900 and the end of September 9900 and then hopefully we hit 17000 by middle of December. Then crash down again.... I don't expect a new ath this year for sure. 80% likely this scenario. 18000 is out of question. 17000 is already mega optimistic.

Did you read this already?

https://blog.goodaudience.com/bitcoin-futures-and-the-ghost-of-gold-81418864c961

If we are out of the bear market by August, we can pretty well reach 86k by December, not 17k.

Your figure of 17k is still within the current bear market. Looks strange at first, since we assume a bear market wont allow for such high. However, there is a bullish undercurrent from last year which is not dead, a different situation from the 2013-2015 bear market.

If the bear market is really dead by August, then this bullish undercurrent will join forces with the new bull market, boosting it to a new ATH very quickly.
1144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin has now gone 173 days without a new high. on: June 08, 2018, 02:31:08 PM
1) The current price isn't low at all, meaning miners have plenty of room to keep making profits even if the difficulty keeps increasing further and the price doesn't.
2) The current price is close to break-even levels, but miners mine anyway and accumulate in anticipation of higher prices later on.

Option 1 is the most viable in my opinion. Miners in most cases only care about the economical gains they can book right now.

Is the mining calculator wrong, then?

1145  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5900 by late June. on: June 08, 2018, 02:24:23 PM
I hope you are certain of it, because I have been accumulating some fiat to buy.

I'm also expecting the price to skyrocket by August, like it was last year.

Can you call that the bottom? Sgbett called the top with some precision, I just wish someone can call the bottom in the same manner. I'm not good at it.

Underrated post.
1147  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will drop to $1000 --- you have been warned. on: June 05, 2018, 01:28:31 PM

Actually, it will be $0.01. Myself will buy a lot of ether too, it rises faster than bitcoin, and falls faster as well.

1148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 05, 2018, 01:24:55 PM
Bitcoin, Futures, and the Ghost of Gold A forecast for bitcoin if it follows the post-futures cycle of gold.

+1WOmerit. Good article.

I always believed futures would kill bitcoin, and the graphs proved it, even with the bear market being inevitable.

But this article refutes it very well. Since bitcoin moves faster than gold, we should not worry too much.
1149  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will drop to $1000 --- you have been warned. on: June 04, 2018, 11:25:33 PM
ah, the weekly "bitcoin is a bubble" thread. i was wondering when someone would post it. Wink

$1000 means a redux of 2011.....certainly possible. but assuming it will happen?! beyond foolish. this long sideways on the daily looks like a recipe for a measured move to 2017 supports in the $2500-$3000 range. i'm not betting on any lower than that; the odds are too low.

i'd say there is a 5-10% chance of $1000 happening, at most. but yeah, it's a possibility.

Its a possibility that will last for only five minutes.

Nobody would let that pass. If bitcoin go to $1000 and ether to $0.01 I will stockpile both. It would be a gold rush.
1150  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will drop to $1000 --- you have been warned. on: June 04, 2018, 11:08:32 PM
No it's $100.

One dollar. Enjoy.

No one knows this whether it is going to happen or not.

Why every thread always have someone saying "no one knows if this will happen or not"?
1151  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 04, 2018, 11:03:52 PM
Well said, Steve Wozniak:

«Bitcoin is mathematically defined, there is a certain quantity of bitcoin, there’s a way it’s distributed… and it’s pure and there’s no human running, there’s no company running and it’s just… growing and growing… and surviving, that to me says something that is natural and nature is more important than all our human conventions.»

«Only bitcoin is pure digital gold… and I totally buy into that. All the others tend to give up some of the aspects of bitcoin. For example, being totally decentralized and having no central control. That’s the first one they have to give up to try to have a business model»

I agree. And the way its price is resisting at 6k is amazing. If it was some company in the stock market, it was already broken with these fluctuations.
1152  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will drop to $1000 --- you have been warned. on: June 04, 2018, 10:53:25 PM
And ETH will go back to one dollar, when its bubble began.

1153  Local / Criptomoedas Alternativas / Re: Sobre a aba das "Criptomoedas Alternativas"... on: June 04, 2018, 10:36:04 PM

1154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Not a good time to buy, according to this source on: June 04, 2018, 05:58:50 PM
I think we are still in a bear market, because there was no relevant rise in May. The sideline movement dont mean we are out of it, it means that bitcoin is with a very strong resistance.

Next time to start a bullish trend is in August, and then October. July would be a good time to buy, regardless of price.
1155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Still think it can hit 20k !! be optimistic on: June 04, 2018, 05:54:16 PM
I am very optimistic bitcoin will be able to reach 20k, and it's just a matter of time.

Thats the problem. Time. The newbies dont have patience. They want 20k now.
1156  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: O quanto as Criptos estão Descentralizadas? on: June 04, 2018, 03:49:23 PM

1157  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would happen if Bitcoin did hit $1m by mid-2020? on: June 04, 2018, 03:41:10 PM
He said so often that he will not lose this bet!
So I believe what is going to happen is that he will buy himself 1 Bitcoin for $1million! He will probably buy it from a friend or so.
Technically that's not cheating as no rules were made if a private deal will count or not.

I'm certain he will do that. It will last for a few seconds, he will take a printscreen and then show he didnt lose his bet.
1158  Economy / Speculation / Re: Still think it can hit 20k !! be optimistic on: June 04, 2018, 03:24:03 PM
It will not hit 20k this year for two reasons: big money wants to go in, hence is enforcing KYC in the exchanges (most of the exchanges now are more bureaucratic than banks, and the tightening of KYC rules are harming wide adoption by average users), and merchants are not accepting it anymore, due to speculation (which the bears, aka "traders", loves so much, since their mentality is to increase fiat money only, not the overall wealth).

1159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit $1 million? on: June 02, 2018, 01:27:10 PM
Yes, but before it, there will be a lot of State opression, backed by the nocoiners, which will be the majority. Governments will do their most to take the coins from the users, since without control over money, they dont control anything.

Wences Casares predicted 1 million between 2022-2027. I think something between 2025 and 2027 is more accurate. But I have to say, that I'm fearful about it, because in this scenario, any dump from a dozen whales can bring down entire countries.

Bitcoin needs to have a wider distribution, and thats why people should not cry during these bear markets. They are a chance for new blood to jump in. But we cant have new blood with the current KYC bureaucratic model, we need decentralized exchanges, with some degree of privacy.

Since the persecution is inevitable, my guess is that the whales will awake to the need, in the future, to have a place only for bitcoiners. I read this piece of fiction here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1lfobc/i_am_a_timetraveler_from_the_future_here_to_beg/ and I find the mention of "citadels" very interesting. Whales which will become trillionaries will want to build places like that.
1160  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would happen if Bitcoin did hit $1m by mid-2020? on: June 02, 2018, 01:12:37 PM
Theres a dish called "dick", thats what McAfee will eat in 2021. He will prepare it on the television and will eat it.

For 1 million we need 20% adoption. We currently have less than 0.2%. This cant happen in three years, specially in a highly speculative market, where newbies burn everytime.
