481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies how to use the 2FA security system in the account? on: December 23, 2023, 09:38:34 PM
But rather than google authenticator, I suggest opting for aegis instead!

Couple of reasons are:

1. It's open source - google auth isn't
2. Offers encryption - google auth doesn't provide
3. Smoother and safer backup scheme - IIRC, google auth only provides QR code image (and you can't take a screenshot of this in-app) which you can use to export entries plus cloud backups. In aegis, you can automate encrypted backup files which you can then copy to other drive/s as a 2nd or 3rd backup.
4. Has a good history of being maintained regularly - google auth has actually been abandoned for so long and it was only recently that they started making some changes.

482  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawal fees are too high, what do I do? on: December 23, 2023, 07:21:57 PM
This is the American government's plan to scare people away from Binance exchange, and it seems to be working. It is unfortunate that Binance will not lose its traders to any American exchange. I dont know how true it but I learnt the Dubai Government is working on a bigger ane new exchange, it could come with not a single name like Binance. In the event that it succeeds, it will be difficult for the American government to intimidate it again in the future.

This move has nothing to do with the government.

This always happens when the mempool is congested AF which has been the situation for weeks now so btc miner fees are higher than usual. Let's also add the fact that binance bitcoin withdrawal fees are inflated as well as it is also a part of their revenue therefore it feels like withdrawal fees are doubled lol.
483  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I got scammed by whatsapp contact and exchange on: December 23, 2023, 06:09:48 PM
The USDT is in this wallet, also my deposits before : TE1bRKoKG6wAu5mFymZ8qyG3M1z12n7cqA

Took a quick look and I also arrived to this address.

I think there's a chance the perp will either address hop some funds or send it to an exchange. This will take quite an effort with slim chances of recovery but you can try writing to top exchanges and request the address to be blocked so if the perp decided to send it out to an exchange who aggreed to cooperate, it will be blocked. Secondly, if you decided to do so, you'll most likely be asked for a police report or some legal document by the exchange.
484  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you want to see in casino reviews? on: December 22, 2023, 09:52:55 PM
Well aside from the typicals -- like overview information of what the casino offers, It would be interesting to see something different, kinda like an edge among others.

For instance, a simplified version of terms of servies and whatnot, kinda like tosdr.org but I would imagine this would take lots of time and effort so perhaps a highlights section could do as well! these papers are extremely important but users tend to skip them because they're too long hence the goal is to make it palatable.
485  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Funds withdrawn from Stake without 2FA. on: December 22, 2023, 06:59:35 PM
I am not sure about fixedfloat, but binance allows account freezing if you can give them an official investigation letter from your local police and you can connect the dots [they provide a table for this] that prove the address used by the scammer is one of theirs. Maybe he's referring to this authority, your local police.

IIRC Fixedfloat claim they do too. But since the trade has most likely been completed and money has already left their end, they will just add the address/es involved in their blocklist then freeze funds if the perp transacted with the same address.

OP could try to request the perp's trade information as well but as always, fixedfloat will most likely request legal paper/s from op's local police too.

487  Economy / Exchanges / Re: PSA: Vulnerability found in OKX iOS app on: December 21, 2023, 10:47:12 PM
So how are certik able to recognize such a vulnerability if the app is not open source?

Did a quick a lookup and it appears OKX were partners with CertiK for some stuff, see: https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2023/06/27/2694925/0/en/Flash-News-OKX-Wallet-and-CertiK-Extend-Partnership-to-Validate-BRC-20-Token-Contracts.html

so perhaps they have also taken a look of some parts of the app and noticed something's up.

I did not find any details regarding the potential compromise of sensitive data and crypto assets. Does this mean that the application’s permissions to access personal files and Keyboard are sent to an external server? Is this related to the application’s data or is it able to access the private key of other wallets on the device?

They have provided very little information about this so who knows. My guess is both parties probably had some sort of aggreement on what to say.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have any one had experiences with banned bank/providers because of gambling? on: December 21, 2023, 09:10:40 PM
We can't say for sure what is the exact reason given how there could be many factors that could cause such decision. I'm not sure if it'll work but you could try pressing them about this. In addition, the questions they'll be asking (if any) could give a hint as well, for instance if they ask about a particular activity of your bro, you could look into that.

Personally, I've never experienced such. Luckily in our place, closing of accounts typically doesn't mean you money will be seized as users are given opportunity to get their money out. Nevertheless, it's still recommended to have a separate fiat account for activities that could be in a gray area for some custodial services like crypto, gambling etc. -- I suggest looking into neobanks Grin
489  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Foundation of Bitcoin Market on: December 21, 2023, 01:29:43 AM
I am looking for valid information about the first marketplace "Bitcoin Market" on which Bitcoin was traded as an investment. Is there any information on this,  or actual participants in the aforementioned marketplace? Who was the founder of the "Bitcoin Market" marketplace? When was "Bitcoin Market" founded?

In case you wanna try searching for posts in the forum about this, I recommend ninjastic.space since you could try to filter posts by keywords more effectively. For instance, here's "bitcoinmarket.com", see: https://ninjastic.space/search?content=bitcoinmarket.com

... including absurd conspiracy theories

Hmmm. probably join online communities for such? from what I have observed, I don't think people here are fond of it lol.

Is there any information that the FBI and / or SEC are searching for Satoshi Nakamoto?

Nothing available publicly from what I can see...
490  Economy / Services / Re: [Available] 💹📈 Bitcointalk Campaign Management 💪🔥 Signature & Bounty on: December 21, 2023, 12:51:14 AM
PM sent!

10/10 would recommend. I especially like how you're considerate on your participants situation.
491  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk mixer ban, Altcointalk is active in that scope. on: December 20, 2023, 04:11:33 AM
Well now if all types of signatures are stopped from this forum then there will be no people to post here. I'm not saying that absolutely no one will post, there will be many who don't have any kind of signature. Am I right or wrong about this?

Traffic will surely go down but I don't think it won't be as bad since bitcointalk has built its userbase over the years + it ranks well in search results.

Quote from: op
altcointalk are allowed.

Who knows, it could be temporary. I honestly think it's pretty likely that they will start considering following bitcointalk's steps if they get into authorities' radar-- you know, like being mentioned on their website or something.

493  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What exchanges still accept credit card option? on: December 19, 2023, 11:44:35 PM
There are! you could use these websites to find such exchanges op. They have filters such as country, payment method (including credit cards), etc. to narrow down the list!

1. https://buybitcoinworldwide.com/
2. https://cryptoradar.com/buy-bitcoin

Quick disclaimer, you are not advised to blindly trust any platforms listed on these websites. In terms of reputation, I suggest checking out other communities such as bitcointalk as a part of cross-checking.
494  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitsler witheld my money for 7 days, with no explanation what so ever on: December 19, 2023, 11:10:55 PM
But I can promise that I have not abused anything.

Assuming this is true, sadly, it doesn't mean you'd be immune from getting flagged since it could be trigged with suspicions first hence false positives could occur. Reading your posts, it does seem bitsler have cleared your name?

There's always a chance of this happening with platforms complying with the standard KYC/AML policies. Honestly wouldn't single out bitsler though they could have improved their approach like maybe instead of banning op in chat, they could have redirected op to support and escalate the issue.
495  Economy / Exchanges / PSA: Vulnerability found in OKX iOS app on: December 19, 2023, 08:25:30 PM
If you have the app, please update it or if you want an extra peace of mind, uninstall it in the mean time.

So couple of hours ago CertiK tweeted they found a vulnerability in the OKX iOS App:

🚨 Attention! We urge users of OKX wallets to update their iOS app to the latest version immediately. Earlier this month, we identified and reported a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE)  vulnerability in the OKX iOS App,  leading to potential compromise of sensitive data and crypto assets. The OKX team responded swiftly and issued an updated version today.

which was shortly followed by OKX:

Thanks @Certik for the note.

We've completed the relevant upgrade & this is no longer an issue. We have verified that this did not impact any customer assets.

The fix has been deployed to iOS version 6.45.0 & we recommend you update the app asap.

Fortunately, so far, I haven't seen any user reports about damages especially since CertiK mentioned they discovered it "earlier this month" indicating this could have been weeks ago and update plus announcement were only released today.

In any case, people who have the app on iOS are encouraged to update it or uninstall ASAP.

497  Economy / Gambling / Re: MEGA:PARI |SPORTS & CASINO| SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN on: December 18, 2023, 04:05:51 PM
Is this happening for everyone or is it just me? Your signatures looks skewed for some reason. it looks like it has some waves .

Were you using your smartphone? then it's not just you Cheesy

It's fine when I'm on my PC but it starts getting skewed when I browse using my smartphone or tablet. I personally browse the forum using handheld devices as well and I'm sure there are loads of us too, I'd say it's worth looking into.

498  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [INFO} Be aware of https://privnote.co/ on: December 17, 2023, 10:28:11 AM
SO be very very careful out there! Also on another note....I tried the google search the same way I did on my phone and that top results was actually the real site...not sure why the fake one comes on my cell though

Perhaps you have an adblocker on your PC? From your first image --search result on your phone-- the first entry was actually an advertisement hence the "sponsored" tag. From my experience there are loads of scams on google ads.

So I personally use the firefox app on my phone so I could install ublock origin and block most ads.

Ofc, this doesn't mean I encourage people to now trust whatever is on the first result as the best approach is to always type the URL yourself/bookmark it then double check.
499  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinMarketCap CMC listing problem on: December 16, 2023, 11:02:11 PM
I’m aware on the priority listing service on CMC but it doesn’t stated on the OP while CMC listing guy service is very popular on telegram and other social media channel that being use by many crypto project before the existence of this priority listing service by CMC itself.

Some of the CMC employees is working a side hustle on doing this job on their own and this is the service which I assume happened due to the duration of the waiting time which is ironic for the “priority listing” feature.  Cheesy

The same can be said with the listing service-- no mention was said.

Yes, I could see the need to confirm whether op has used a 3rd party listing service or not but given the information presented currently, we can't be "sure" of either possibilities "yet" which was my point. Both possibilities are plausible at this point imo-- CMC being piss poor or op got scammed.

Official listing can take weeks or months due to heavy volume of applications but I’m really sure you avail 3rd party service of listing which is not CMC scope anymore.
500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: December 16, 2023, 08:03:04 PM
Lol they have a massive ego problem if so. and perhaps they may be way too deep into gambling rabbit hole as well, not a good sign certainly. I'm curious if someone admitted to this though hence why such conclusion was made?

In any case, I could actually think of another reason why someone would falsely claim they won! it is none other than the good old shilling lol. I would go as far as saying, there will always be some shillers in any kind of business e.g. in some exchanges, casinos, et.al. It would probably be best to keep an eye on the situation first and get as many feedbacks from communities first.
