Can this unit be turned off and on easily? For example, can the power be turned off and on without issue during a power outage or just because you wanted it off for a couple hours? Would you need to initialize anything and set it up again, or would it seamlessly start where it left off? Thanks!

Sure,  I don't see why not.

This is what it looks like, just a goo.gl link taken at random: http://goo.gl/#analytics/goo.gl/ua4z2S/all_time. Anything from bitcointalk typically appears as unknown.
4863  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITCRANE ANNOUNCES BITCOIN MINER T-110 (Batch II available now $1299) on: August 22, 2014, 05:55:48 PM
I have a unit being shipped to me tomorrow. I can confirm from them that they use Hashfast's chip with their own board design.

did the units arrived? I need to know if this company is legit.

Yeah, I know at least me dogie and maidak all got units.

This is partially my fault. As prelease setup support has got better, less and less people ever post about getting a new unit so it becomes harder for us to know when things have shipped.
4864  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Noncetech Sampo Setup [HD] on: August 22, 2014, 05:52:46 PM
How many people actually have one of these? Huh

Very, very, very few. They designed a custom PCB from scratch but failed to sell any significant number and so stopped producing. They also developed a custom web UI for these but unfortunately for us it was never released.
4865  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: XBTec Announce. New ASIC manufacturer. on: August 22, 2014, 05:49:14 PM
Hi,
did someone here - apart from Doggie's review - actually bought their PACIFIC 1250 ? If so, what is your experience so far ? Do you consider these miners a good buy @1k/miner ?
And what about their PACIFIC V2 (1.57 Ths) - did someone pre-order ? Thank you.

@dogie
Hi dogie, have you got PACIFIC V2 (1.57 Ths) from XBTec for review yet ? Thank you.

Thanks guys for your reply.

I'm sure people did buy the 1250s as the price was sensible, but no one seems to have posted. No, I've not done the V2 - I'm not sure its ready?
4866  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 22, 2014, 05:47:01 PM
I wish there was an /r/dogie call function on these forums, its literally just by chance that I'm walking into threads where people are directly questions to me and I'm seeing them in a timely manner.

I just tested the ethernet controller with Eligius pool using rockminer's T1 device and it doesnt work with Eligius pool
ghash works fine
I posted on Eligius as well.  not sure if it's rockminer issue or the Ethernet controller, same one that comes with a Tube

-- dogie, did you succeed with testing against Eligius?

I couldn't find a pattern to it, but yes it doesn't like some pools and doesn't give an indication of why its not hashing. So far the only one that I know works every time is ghash.io.
these things OC'able?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=723445

Dogie had his OC'd to 920 GH/s, unless he was just quoting manufacturer estimates.

Dogie, or anyone else that's used these, is an extra fan necessary for cooling when OC'd?

Oh no, it OC's fine. Its one of the only BE200 designs that is able to support the chips this high. No additional fans are needed, and that was at a 35C testing ambient. 920 is 920.*

*Its worth remembering I last testing on a HashRatio Tsunami with a different fan, I do NOT have the Tube's specific fan or PCB. Its also worth remembering that these speeds are not guaranteed as the chips are the limiters, and that you will need either 2x750W PSUs or a 1300W PSU to OC.

0) What to Expect (top)
The Avalon 3 retains the same modular form factor as the Avalon 2, but manages to increase hash rate density nearly 3 times over. Each module
achieves a hash rate of 280Gh at 310W at stock speeds. An external controller is required, and can use a modified WR703N router or a Raspberry Pi.
A 4 pin interconnect wire, two jumpers, a 4 pin to micro USB adapter and a micro USB to USB cable is included along with the interface board.

Chips50x 40nm Avalon 3 A3233
Hashrate~290GH
Rated Voltage12V
Rated Current29A
Power.Consumption~350W

0b) What You Need (top)
You will need a few accessories and a power supply to get started. I recommend buying the controller directly from Avalon as they will preflash it with the
correct firmware.

Click your flag to find everything you need to get started at Amazon!

1) Powering (top)
The interface board on the Avalon 3 has been updated, and now features 2x 8 pin ATX and 2x 8 pin PCI-E connections. Any two of these will do.

2) Cooling (top)
Each module has its own 80mm Delta GFB0812SHS fan that sucks air through the sealed heatsink and across the back of the module. These are premium
high pressure, expensive fans that utilise two independent rotors. Cooling is power efficient but noisy and designed with data centres in mind.

At stock, the fan runs at 90% and temperatures reach 55C. Documentation suggests that this sensor temperature should not be allowed to run for long
periods of time above 60C. There seems to be a minimum fan RPM that prevents the fans from going lower regardless of the setting input, and so at
ambient temperatures above 30C it is recommended to use the below cooling modification.

Remove the heatsink shroud by removing two small screws. You will need a fan controller and 3x120mm PWM controllable fans per module to do the mod.

3) Case (top)
Individual modules are well protected although the interface PCBs are exposed. The shipped weight of an Avalon 3 is 4.5kg and dimensions of the shipping
box are 490 x 180 x 150mm.

4a) Configuration (TL-WR703N) (top)
The interface board has been updated to allow for up to 4 modules and interface boards to be daisy chained off one USB port.

Wiring:
  • The first module's interface board should have one 4 pin cable connected to the 4 pin to micro
USB adapter, which is then connected to the micro USB to USB cable. The USB cable can plug directly into the host controller or into a USB hub if
more groups are being chained on one controller. The second module's interface board should have its 4 pin cable plugged into the first board and
itself. The third should plug into the second and itself, and the fourth into the third and itself.
  • Each of the four boards must have a different jumper arrangement - either both off, both on, the left one on or the right one on. It doesn't matter
which board has which as long as they are unique.
  • Plug in a network cable from the WR703N to your router, and power it on.

Configuration:
  • Power on the power supply using its switch at the back.
  • Make sure or your router's subnet is 0, ie 192.168.0.x. If not then change it to 0, this is just temporary. ***If this is not possible, see below***
  • Using a browser, navigate to 192.168.0.100 - this goes to the WR703N's configuration page.
  • Login using "root" as the username.
  • Navigate to Network -> Interfaces -> WAN -> Edit.
  • Change protocol to DHCP and click "Save & Apply".
  • Using a browser, navigate to your router and find the IP it has assigned the WR703N and navigate to that IP.
  • Navigate to the page Status -> Miner Configuration. Enter your pool information in the below format.
  • Navigate to the page "Miner Status" to check mining has started.
  • You can then change your router subnet back to whatever you are used to using.

Alternative Subnet Change:
  • Unplug your computer from all internet sources.
  • Plug in an ethernet cable from the WR703N to your computer.
  • Navigate to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Centre -> Change Adapter Settings.
  • Right click on your ethernet adapter -> Properties.
  • Click on "Internet Protocol Version 4" and click properties.
  • Select "Use the following IP address" and enter the following:
  • IP Address: 192.168.0.1, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.0.100.
  • Plug in an ethernet cable from the WR703N to you router.
  • Restart the configuration instructions as above.

5) Troubleshooting (top)

ProblemSolution
What temperatures should I aim for?- Try to achieve <60C for long lifetimes. Temperatures should not be let to rise above 65C.
How can I tell what firmware version I have now?- Navigate to Status -> Cgminer API Log and look at "Firmware Version".
Where.can.I.find.the.latest.firmware.for.the.WR703N?- Download the latest firmware from here (the WR703N.bin).
Where can I find the latest firmware for the Pi?- Download the latest firmware from here (the sdcard-vfat-ext4.img).
How do I install the latest firmware?- Download firmware as above. Navigate to System -> Upgrade and click "browse". Select the
downloaded file and click "Flash image". Do NOT interrupt this process or you will brick the unit.

What FW version do you use? Is this problem exist with latest Bitmain FW? Have you tried it?

Quote
How to manilulate the firmware for example?
Hmm... System->Upgrade->Flash new firmware image
Of course i did... (=

Still the same problem!

You using your own SD card or the original?
I have tried both, same problem.

Is there any way to modifiy the firmware directly and set network to dhcp and my pool data?

Yes, people are running custom compiled firmware but its not something I can do, sorry.
4871  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: August 21, 2014, 09:14:19 PM
Pushing my S2 to 221MHZ has my hardware error rate through the roof! 1.02% compared to running at a lower Mhz rate.

Rejected shares a extremely low. Accepted shares are higher than before the increase.

Any suggestions?

1% is still nothing. Literally, nothing.

What will happen to the miner you received for review? Are you sending it back or did you get to keep it?Smiley

There's no point shipping 30kg miners round the world twice, and I need the unit to be able to help others.

You have 6x S1 miners. You have 3x CX750m and 2x TW750M.  how would you set that up and power the miners?

TW750M?

Nobody's gotten the BE200's under 1w/gh, huh? This looks like a great miner - but power costs by me are just too high for anything less than ridiculous efficiency.

And what else can you go for which is in hand?
4877  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: August 21, 2014, 05:09:35 AM
My subnet is 10.0.1.1 and I tried the alternate method and I still can't connect to the page, but I CAN connect to the page if I plug the Ethernet cable straight from the miner to my pc. I'm pretty clueless at what to do  Huh. Any help would be appreciated.

Connect to PC, set DCHP, plug it back into router.
4878  Other / New forum software / Re: @theymos-Update on the new forum? on: August 21, 2014, 01:06:23 AM
Alpha-Preview will be done by end of August. Not the whole forum.

Being that it's an Alpha release, don't expect much other than a working forum. None of the bells and whistles should be expected.

Who will be able to test it? Everyone?

Hopefully I'll get a look in to see how smushed my guides will get. Although any improvement from BBcode tables will be welcomed. Fuck you BBcode so hard, seriously.
4879  Other / Meta / Re: What would happen if you donate 50 bitcoin to the forum these days? on: August 21, 2014, 01:04:43 AM

Other than couple of ads here and there , what does forum make money? Its weird to say a forum can make money enough to make theymos say 'forum has enough money' , good job however you managed to make decent enough money with a forum Cheesy

Forums can actually be extremely lucrative due to the insane number of page views.

I think the real answer came up in this thread - no one is ever going to be VIP again at the current price. We can talk semantics all we want but its a dead mechanism. The last but one person donated over a year ago, and the last person some time before between then and now.

Same thing has happened on the generic donate address, bar the odd huge transaction which doesnt look like a donation. I saw the same thing actually. Donations were maybe $100 a month, but immediately went to 0 as soon as the price went up.

Yes this is also what I was going to get to. Btc being at the price it's at it's very unlikely anyone will be purchasing VIP or even donator status.

And it's kind of shitty because VIP members get some cool abilities but at the same time it doesn't justify 50 btc at the current price. A couple of years ago yes but today it's completely out of the question.

Maybe its time for something similar to VIP but updated for modern times, which still preserves the historical status of VIP?
