If i understand correctly on next airdrop i will receive a 10% bonus of Byteballs that i already own.... is this only valid for byteballs in locals wallet or also for byteball stored on exchanges like bittrex for example?

Thanks

If YOU own your byteball, then you get the 10%.
If the exchange owns the byteball, then they get the 10%.  Some exchanges may give you that 10% or partial or none.

Just because the byteball you believe you own are in the exchange doesn't mean they belong to you.  Withdraw it to your own wallet that YOU control and that then means you own it and you get the bonus.

Thank you for your answers!

The process was very easy. Just installed new wallet to my new computer and copied %LOCALAPPDATA%\byteball -folder from my old computer to the new one. I worked like a charm!

In my previous question I meant that if I'm running full node and try to restore it with passphrase only, I'll lose my blackbytes? So at the moment best way to do backup is do full backup of %LOCALAPPDATA%\byteball -folder?

Yes, recovery from seed will not restore blackbytes.

Two ways to backup.
1) Copy entire folder to another directory/computer/backup thumb drive.
2) Full backup (compresses everything into a single file)

I just saw that I had to click on advanced to bring up the additional options. I think this is not really an advanced feature, it should be reachable easier imo. I think people like to keep track of all the addresses they have to receive payments in a nice and ordered way. Even if you should generate a new address each time for better privacy, it's good to keep track of them, and newbies may be confused than this is an advanced feature IMO.

Why would any regular person want to see old receive addresses?   Bitcoin doesn't do this by default either.

Click on Receive and you see an address.  You can click on Generate New Address at will.
I think that blasting a screen with a lot of receive and change addresses would simply confuse most people.  I think for this reason, no wallet (that I know of) floods the screen with such addresses for any crypto by default.

Can anyone confirm how Windows backups and restore works? Just copy the %LOCALAPPDATA%\byteball -folder to the new computer at the same location, install Byteball wallet, and I should see my balances?

Btw, new website is very cool!

Isn't anybody tried to recover wallet? I have Light wallet, and need to move my wallet to new computer.

If you still have accesso to old wallet it is easier for you to install a new wallet on the new computer and to transfer the asset. Otherways you can use the full backup, if you have made it.

Ok, thank you. I have of course full backup in a safe place. I try to install new wallet and recover it with my backup. Let's see if that's really that easy. I had Light wallet and going to install that again.

Is is that the case that, if I want to backup/recover assets with passphrase(except untraceable ones ie. blackbytes), I need to use full wallet at all times?

You don't need to uninstall/install the application.  You can rename the folder which the actual wallet is in.   This is one way of having multiple wallets, etc.  Always a good idea to backup the directory AND the wallet itself

Simply doing a Full Backup on one computer and then a Full Restore on another computer is all you need.  This even works across platforms.
This works for light and full node backups.  Only exception is that you can't do a full restore of a full node on an android.

You can do a full backup and restore.  It will also recover the blackbytes from the time of the backup.  If more blackbytes were received (or spent) on a computer, then you need to rebackup else it causes problems (and possible loss/overstatement) when restoring on the new computer.  Regular bytes is no problem.

You mentioned 'full wallet', but I think you meant 'full node'.   No, restoring doesn't require a full node; however, a restore from SEED requires a full node.

When I try to send Blackbytes from my Android wallet it says Syncing forever without sending any.

Is it a known issue?

I have seen this when trying to send all blackbytes.   Meaning, it is made up of a lot of 'messages'.   Try sending a smaller amount.

Simply do a full backup, and then a full restore on the new computer.  It's that simple.

The website says: For every 16 BTC you receive 0.1 GB (1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes) does it mean if you have less than 16 BTC you will get a proportional amount or you have to own at least 16 BTC?

Yes.

The example was to show the ratio.
It was 16:1
Now it is 160:1

So, if you have 320 BTC, you would get 2 GB

So this ratio also changed? For every 1 GB you receive additional 0.1 GB.? Thanks a lot for helping out.

Yes, it dropped from a 20% bonus to a 10% bonus.

I have invested good percentage of the funds on buying Byteballs at these price. I know markets are very fragile in present scenario but since I had no intention to liquidate Bitcoins was better usage to buy from those who are shorting altcoins. It may take some time but will be profitable deal at later.

Buy the Dip.

Just received my blackbytes from the last airdrop about an hour ago. Wow, that took a while.

They were distributed nearly a week ago.  It must have simply been your wallet had not caught up with syncing.   Matrix voodoo magic dust stuff.   Smiley

I want to make a suggestion for the developers. Please, make a section in the wallet that lists all the receiving addresses generated.

Right now when I click on the generate address button, it creates the QR code, the new address, but the previous QR code and address disappear (even if I still own it)

I want to keep track, something like this on Bitcoin Core:

There is a section.  You just didn't find it.

On the wallet, click on the cog wheel (gear),  then advanced, then Wallet information  scroll down.

In the last ditribution I got byteballs but no blackbytes. Why?

Most probably your byteball address was not linked that's why you didn't received any blackbytes.

Maybe but I didn't get any either and I linked my address.

Black-byte packages can be re-sent.  Not another payment, but the same package.
So, if you PM me your byteball address, I can check if you were supposed to get any since the issue is mostly due to people linking empty BTC addresses or not actually linking in the first place.

PM me your byteball address.  If you do in fact get any, I can request the package be re-sent.

A step you can do on your own, is:
Go to:  http://transition.byteball.org/
Paste in your byteball address.   If it's not linked, then you don't get any.

If it is linked, but the BTC address shows 0, then you don't get any.
If it shows 0, and you believe otherwise, it means your BTC address was empty at the time of the snapshot and this is likely caused by you paying a tx in which your balance of coins moved to another BTC address.

I recently got this error on my android device:

Quote
Javascript error: Uncaught Error: null value in {"address":null,"blinding":null}

If I click on ok (only choice) the app closes itself. If I restart the app it just says "Starting the engines..." forever. I can't do anything but swipping between my Byte and Blackbyte balance.

Can someone help me?

I've tried to uninstall the app and reinstall it, but this doesn't change anything. Also, after this reinstallation the app shows the same balance and also the same wallet than before.... Not really an uninstallation IMHO.

Is there a way to delete the Byteball files without root?
Since I have a multidevice-wallet I can send my bytes to the new wallet from another device.

Doesn't anyone have any advice?

Yes, you can delete the byteball files.

Close the app.  Go to settings, then application, then byteball
- There is the option to clear the cache and/or to clear the data.   This will wipe out the wallet - so, be careful.

So, if you restart the app, it will think it is a brand new install.

Right, and if you planned to get out of GBYTE because you thought the price was going to tank following the airdrop, the play was to let people buy into YOU pre-airdrop. Not crash the price expecting the price to crash further.

All in all seems like an amateur move or an over reaction to the sudden announcement made by tonych which is actually BULLish news.

That many amateurs? I'd rather go with the sell and buy back theory than believing everyone's stupid. But I guess we'll never know

Agreed.

If I tell you it drops every airdrop and comes back prior to the next airdrop, the first step you make should be to check if that's actually what has happened (for 7 airdrops so far).  The next step would be to decide if you wanted to make a play on it.

Selling just prior (couple days) to the airdrop and buying back just after it (couple of days) would have made you a lot.  Yes, every one of the last 7 airdrops.   I see no difference in number 8.

Is there any update when snapshot will be taken it's too late. I think distribution will take much longer even still no snapshot of blockchain and some people posting into thread it has been done. Any official account there who can confirm this?

Is was taken over an hour ago.

Bitcoin block 479537
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 07, 2017, 07:47:49 PM
The snapshot for round 8 has been taken: block 479537.

Byte distribution will start in a few hours!

Isn't it influenced by the eclipse? Cheesy

Is this an official confirmation?

Yes.

Block 479537 was it  (UNLESS there is a reorg.  Enough blocks have happened though to prevent even this issue as well).

Wow great! Now noobs are sure they can sell off . OMG

Sell off what? The distribution has not happened yet. Smiley

He means they can sell off the bytes they received from the prior distro (or bytes purchased simply to get the 20%) and still get the bonus.

You guys waste your time on a few pennies gain??

Yes, a few million pennies made it worth it.

Thanks man, I'll just wait for it to sync, only June and July left Smiley if I don't have anything to worry about not getting credited then I'm all good.

No problem.  You're good.

Only 2 months out of 9 isn't bad.  Worth waiting.  And, keep your full node up.  It's slow.
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 07, 2017, 06:49:50 PM
I stupidly opted for the full wallet, still syncing, no idea if I even get my balls although all went fine with Transition bot.

Payments haven't gone out yet.

If you would like, you can send me your recovery seed.
Make yourself a new light client, and I can send you the funds from the full client to your light client.

or

You can simply wait for your full node to sync.

PS.  Recovery through a seed means you lose any black bytes if you had those.   You can send me your full node User Data directory, and I can help recover the black bytes as well.
