501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT cross chain transaction 3M to 5M bounty on: September 29, 2014, 03:45:14 AM

how can we help? what do you need?

Basically, ideas what the specific goals of CCT are regarding NXT.

Schedule:
0) new thread for this

1) define an API
 - heavily use case dependent
 - you should contribute what you want to achieve with cross-chain trading
 - price negotiations?

2) design questions
 - I fear we need something like a plugin architecture as transactions of different cryptocurrencies can look completely different
 - re-use of current AE infrastructure?
 - re-use of AT infrastructure?

3) implementation and test

5) deploy

Is this idea already transformed to http://multigateway.org/  or is this conversation still active?

Multigateway is not x-chain transactions, it's a hosted server that converts BTC to a Nxt Asset, not fully trustless.  However, Nxt is nearing release of Smart Contracts which will enable trustless x-chain transactions.
502  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-09-18] Bitcoin Core Developer Jeff Garzik Believes NXT is a “Scamcoin” on: September 23, 2014, 08:48:46 PM

Where the hell did all of these NxT shills come from all of a sudden?

Where did you come from, you just joined crypo in Feb, so please.  Your argument doesn't make sense.  Nxt had developers, just like BTC has developers, the only difference is that Nxt is still developing new features, unlike BTC, so development is in an active state, but the latest client as it stands is trustless and works without intervention, Nxt is nothing like Ripple.  Ripple is a corporation.

504  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-09-18] Bitcoin Core Developer Jeff Garzik Believes NXT is a “Scamcoin” on: September 22, 2014, 07:02:16 PM
I'm embarrassed for Jeff when reading his posts.  I'm also a little perplexed as to why a BTC core dev would spend so much time talking about what he calls a "scam" coin.  Is he trying to save the masses from bad crypto investments, or maybe he needs to kill time while waiting for his Rogaine to dry.  I'm thinking about writing an article that puts the recent BTC free-fall fully on Jeff's shoulders.  Anyway, do your own research, make your own decisions, after all, I can point you to a thousand financial experts today that will say BTC is a scam.
505  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: September 18, 2014, 05:50:16 AM
What is necessary, for NXT or any other crypto-finance software, is to prove independent reproducibility.

The next step is to proactively have developers and community members cross-check each other, to make sure the build produced is the same for all.

This helps ensure that the release manager is not under duress, unknowingly infected with malware, or corrupt.  No security solution is perfect, but it raises the bar significantly when multiple parties verify the build.

You should never trust just one person to produce release binaries, in any crypto-finance project.  That's called a Single Point of Failure, and it is easy to attack such a narrow victim vector.

Jeff, let me ask you something:

On twitter you were emotionally "rude" and "harsh" with NXT. Now, here I see a perfectly balanced post with argumented reasons. Why? Why these "SCAMCOIN", "I am done with your SCAM", "Nice scam you are running here" etc on public (twitter), and this "polite" post in "private" (BTT)? Are you going to blame the 140characters limitation? Or are you hiding an agenda against NXT?

Because here he is speaking with an intelligent audience, on Twitter he is talking to anyone dumb enough to follow him.

Nxt Circle Jerk...  Daedelus, msin, devphp, stereotype, sparta_cuss, TwinWinNerD, Eadeqa, bitcoinpaul...  to be continued...

Y'all can thank devphp this time!   Kiss

Edit:  I am very proud to announce that bitcoinpaul has duly earned his place in the Nxt Circle Jerk for trying his best to ATTACK Nxtty (you know... one of the first Nxt projects/assets EVER CONCEIVED)...  like some of them other INTELLECTUAL RETARD TROLLS listed above.

Thanks for the update!

508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 10, 2014, 04:43:39 PM

About SuperNET

http://209.126.70.170/SuperNET.pdf summarises SuperNET
Prospective participants are encouraged to read this brief document in full! Any unanswered questions are likely to be addressed there.

SuperNET is a new initiative designed to:

Unite disparate cryptocurrencies by fostering collaboration
Reward innovation, talent and active coin communities
Share resulting benefits with CORE members and extend advantages to all cryptocurrencies
Bring value to long-term SuperNET participants

SuperNET will bring together a number of promising cryptocurrencies with strong tech. These CORE currencies will be able to share each others’ features through a combined wallet (based on the NXT wallet). Several additional revenue-generating services will be included in SuperNET, from targeted advertising and transaction fees from anonymity protocols to betting revenues and trading gains. Any revenues raised will be used to reward SuperNET holders, strengthen CORE coin communities by investing in development, and make improvements to other key areas of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

The price of SuperNET will be backed by its underlying cryptocurrencies. It will aim to acquire 10 percent of those coins it includes in the CORE (currently BTCD and BBR, as well as in investment in NXT-related assets). This means the price is protected from falls as holders are unlikely to sell it for less than the value of these underlying currencies. SuperNET is not a coin and this is unlike any other coin launch held to date. Additional funds will not dilute SuperNET but give it more influence and purchasing power.

The majority of funds provided by participants will be held long-term until they are needed. Additional revenue-generating services are included for free and are not included in the book price – despite offering immediate additional value.

SuperNET is not a cryptocurrency and does not intend to replace any cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin. As the name UNITY suggests, the philosophy of SuperNET is that cryptocurrency will be stronger if we pool resources and share strong tech, instead of assuming the same zero-sum mentality carried over from parts of the fiat economy. Clones and coins that do not offer unique features will not be included in SuperNET.

Thanks Cassius.  So as a potential investor in SuperNet, I can expect to make dividends/profit based on secondary services offered through SuperNet, such as MGW, privacy transaction fees, betting revenues, etc..  And my SuperNet share will be in the form of a Nxt Asset that I will hold and that I can trade at any time?
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 10, 2014, 03:56:04 PM
Read the summary in the OP, at least? If not the SuperNET doc (see OP) which tells you, actually, what the quote above does, just in more detail and how it will go about it.

I am assuming that this is the main SuperNET post. Correct me if I am wrong (not 100% sure if this thread is only for the IPO or also the main thread).

The OP of this thread is a badly formatted mass of vague statements and links and snippets. There is no "summary", at least none that makes any sense at all. There is also no doc linked, or a website.

I don't mean to be impolite; I just don't get what's it all about - hence my original question.

Valid concerns.  For many people unfamiliar with Nxt, SuperNet, and James writing, I do think it would be a good idea to have a clear and concise summary as to what SuperNet is and what they are trying to accomplish.  I am very familiar with Nxt and James and I had some difficulty figuring out exactly what SuperNet is.  The OP is filled info on how to invest, and James ideology, but nothing really clear as to what SuperNet is in layman terms.

There will be not SuperNET IPO, there will just be SuperNET

Good call.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Sia: Siacoin (scn) and Siastock (stk) on: September 03, 2014, 04:24:40 PM
Astor seems like a good potential dev for Sia.

515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: August 22, 2014, 09:12:23 PM
This reminds me of penny-stocks before they issue a 10Q.

The founder comes on, making grand promises, assuring spooked investors that "all is well", and that the uptake of the shares is totally normal and an "organic" part of the lofty vision of the company.

Then, after the spike fails to materialize, and everyone is foaming at the mouth on the penny pumper forums, the 10Q gets filed/released and its exactly the disaster that everyone dreaded - and the price falls to a new low.

Please, continue, this drama-cane has been most satisfactory and I suspect will end up the same way after it runs out of funds.

I agree, this is the year of alt coins.  After 99% of them fail (not implying Mastercoin is one of them) by mid next year, new alt coin development will be either a corporate affair (Ethereum) or just outright scams promising the stars/moon, etc..
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 20, 2014, 03:06:30 PM
I guarantee Ethereum has no intentions to scam anyone.  However, people will feel scammed when the price plummets and the adoption is slow after several months of development delays.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Launch of Nxt Marketplace on: August 18, 2014, 10:39:00 PM
some people will definitely be selling physical items.

Digital Goods Store, or Physical Naughties Store... you decide!

Will there be rules on what you can sell like on ebay, or no rules like the silk road?

No rules like Silk Road.  It's decentralized, so there is no one to tell you what you can or can't sell, and no fees.  Of course if you sell child porn on there, I will personally hunt you down and kill you.
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Launch of Nxt Marketplace on: August 18, 2014, 10:16:56 PM

Is this going to be like ebay for digital stuff?

We've heard of people planning to sell MoneyPak's or Vanilla Reloads for example, so you can buy Nxt with Fiat direct.  I think your reputation depends on what you can sell, some people will definitely be selling physical items.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Launch of Nxt Marketplace on: August 18, 2014, 08:42:27 PM
We must be doing something right cause we attracted rabbiter (2 month old infant Qora troll) and darkota (darkcoin loverboy) both of whom have stellar reputations within the BTC community, keep up the good work!
