Ethereum just killed NXT.

Same with all the others.

A POW inflationary coin, hardly.

Well, it's confirmed. Andreas thinks NXT is a bitcoin protocol layer. I heard him say it before, and he now says it again..

Sorry for the noob question: I`ve just read the essay from anon and it says the code is still not released? I thought it was? If not, when will it be "full open source"?

Hello Gents,
I do not post in this mega-thread, but I am doing my best to keep Reddit up to speed on r/nextcoin - r/nxtcoin - r/NXTcryptocurrency - r/ NXTpromotion - r/NXTmarketplace. Im not a programmer, so i try to help my best in this way. I use this same name on Reddit (Mises_77). Donations are cool, but not expected. Although this is almost a full time job keeping up with all this!  Grin

awesome, please each time you find something new in Reddit, inform us here and we will invade the topic with the support Smiley https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,2374.0.html

Do you have a Nxtcrypto thread instead?
1386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: January 14, 2014, 05:19:11 PM
People actually buy this scamcoin?

Valuable insight there, stay away then and continue investing in DigiBytes and Klondikecoin... just a few gems I saw in your post history. Smiley
100% premine? Biggest scam I've ever heard of.

There are actually massive advantages to pure proof of stake. I prefer to think of it as a massive gamble. If the seed round investors don't distribute enough of their coins than we will all be screwed (themselves included). If they do than we will be filthy rich.

If you look at the top accounts from the time of launch until now, you will see drastic distribution, especially for such a short period of time.  Regardless, Brilliantrocket is hardly worth responding to, his posts are one line troll zingers, but I do appreciate your response as always.
1387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 14, 2014, 05:10:06 PM

Thank you.
1388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 14, 2014, 05:09:32 PM
Of the features shown on the first page, how many have been fully implemented?

2.5

Alias System + Arbitrary Messages + Asset Exchange (50%)

Awaiting troll response.

CFB, can you please point me to the specific crypto algorithm code so that I can forward to Steve Weiss, rather than the entire source?  Thanks.
1390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 14, 2014, 04:09:43 PM
We would take the first to commit an independent review. We could even have more than 1 review though if funding is sufficiently raised.

I hope funding is sufficiently. I really like the idea of having more than 1 independent review!

What I actually canīt understand is why we are giving 10 BTC to one guy, when we could give 5 to two guys making a review... I think $5000 is a lot of money, too.

10 btc is a lot of money. Seems to me that is overcompensation for the task, but if people are willing to pay that... Just consider the precedent you're setting.

What worries me more is that no serious researcher will take on the task. Ittay Eyal is in academics so if he like something, he could set his time to work on it for a few days. Steve Weis, on the other hand, could make more in a few days than what we offer in 10BTC.

imho, you guys are seriously underestimate the price of talents. It is not like you are asking some random dudes to "pump" NXT.

I agree, but a guy like Steve would also look at it form an academic perspective and we could reward additional Nxt (which I will do personally if he accepts the task) on top of the BTC.  He wouldn't be doing it for the money but more out of academic interest.

People actually buy this scamcoin?

Yeah, why, you want to buy some?
1392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 14, 2014, 05:27:24 AM
And I thought 2% premine was bad.

"Why isn't anyone making something that's actually, you know, different from bitcoin? And don't bring up that NXT scamcoin. "

Priceless! Welcome to the thread.

Why do people, you know, get mad at eachother?  And I was so hoping this brilliantrocket would take Nxt to outerspace. Priceless indeed.

Nxt, there I did it, I brought it up.
1394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: emunie is NOT a scam on: January 14, 2014, 04:26:18 AM
eMunie is a pre-mined ripple 2.0

That's a solid fact

No it's not, that's a solid fact.
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: emunie is NOT a scam on: January 14, 2014, 04:18:54 AM
They should ban eMunie from BTT.

emunie  has nothing to do with crypto BTC, this is just a company owned by 1 person and 50 investors, this is not the way crypto should evolve

let them move to Ihub and nasdaq.

Made some corrections for you.
1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 14, 2014, 12:09:14 AM
The use of 64 bit encryption for 0 transactions account is a CHOICE by BCnext. It was designed to be bruteforcable.
Only one outgoing transaction and the account is 256 bit encrypted forever.

The goal is to allow NXT to be minable in the future. All DarkNXT are not lost forever and will be recoverable with enough haspower  (in 10 years with specific ASICS, 50 years with gpu or whatever it take with cpu. The main point is to make those coin not lost forever)

Can you imagine a scammer putting such a ridiculous amount of thought into every subtle little nuance of his invention? If he was going to fleece us would he have really needed that ABSURD level of attention to detail? If nxt is a scam it will have to go down in history as THE most ridiculously elaborate and well thought out scam in the history of the world. Cheesy

Yeah, I'm assuming BCNext either has an incredibly clean home or an incredible messy home, no in between Wink
1397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: January 13, 2014, 10:05:43 PM

It's only great if we actually get a Nxt developer to help him setup.

disagree , the interest of vircurex  in NXT is already a great news...

Yes, and it sounds like CFB has offered to personally help, so it is great news.
1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt source code flaw reports on: January 13, 2014, 09:04:16 PM
Congrats guys!  Can we get a summary on what flaws are left to be uncovered?

Each flaw has a small description. Here r SHA256 hashes of these descriptions:

bd34c891e9e3df9ea8b8eafc4dc3edc129f81365d42bf204ea58271e320f3ce5 - 1K reward
888f278c773d39b8334a651d84ee78871bd0e5d45e09be8fdb190ba1b2969530 - 10K reward
f5236644f4306699bb0fa90a905afe2454683c0aad6995e4433d712e2fdb257c - 100K reward

The flaws must be reported before the 3rd of April, after that date they can be revealed at any moment.

Well, I guess it's appropriate that the fatal flaw is the last to be discovered.
1399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt source code flaw reports on: January 13, 2014, 08:44:02 PM
When generating a block, you have 2 signatures that could go wrong.
One is the generationSignature, which is calculated from the previousBlock, so there is no chance in changing it when it fails. (i.e. 25% invalid block).
The other one is the blockSignature. Currently, this is only generated once and contains a hash of e.g. all the transactions. If that signature fails in NRS, the client will just output invalid block and don't continue to try.
If Bob isn't using NRS, he could generate the blockSignature again with different data, i.e. different transactions. It's relatively easy to find a payload that will generate a valid hash.
Bob could then transmit the perfectly fine block, which NRS would have not enabled him to do. So he got an advantage by not using the default client.

Well, u and BloodyRookie explained 99% of the serious flaw. I think u both should get 1'000 NXT. Post ur account.

@BloodyRookie: Post ur Nxt account, plz.

PS: The description of the serious flaw is:

Code:
An incorrect block signature is not recalculated. This gives ability to use less than 50% of the stake to attack the network.

Congrats guys!  Can we get a summary on what flaws are left to be uncovered?

Are any Dev's going to work with Vircurex on this? seems pretty important such a large exchange are asking for help implementing it on their exchange.

Man they don't ask for help. He said he will look into it when things cool down a bit. Why some of you guys are so impatient ? What is the rush? Do you need money next week?

No they specifically ask for help as per the quote below!!

If we could get a developer to follow-up with Vircurex offering help, I'm sure this would move the process along much quicker.

customerservice@vircurex.com

Post it in the NxtCrypto forum, will get better responses.  Ask guys like ricot, ImmortAlex, etc.. they are qualified.  CFB will definitely get him the API.
