At the Inside Bitcoins conference now in Vegas, and will take the time to check and reply the last few posts later tonight, early tomorrow morning at the latest.

Curious to gauge interest in a future meetup to discuss the current state of bitcoins in Chicago/IL businesses and bitcoins all around.

Been one of the few Chicago businesses accepting bitcoins for the past few years.

I'd be willing to accept bitcoins (and possibly other cryptocurrencies) for drink purchases at some awesome yet divey bar to make it a fun event.

I live ~50 due west of Chicago. Currently, I'm in Vegas at the Inside Bitcoins conference. PM me a reminder.

Looks like about 600 in attendance here at Inside BItcoins. I'm the guy wearing the pink tutu because I'm TMIBTCITW and, moreover, bringing awareness to The Tutu Project, of which has yet to accept Bitcoin donations but, hopefully, by my action here at Inside Bitcoins, that'll change, whereupon they'll receive a $1,000 USD via bitcoins endowment from Bitcoin 100.

Got to Vegas about 10 PM. While in Tucson, I went to top off the oil (burned a half quark during the first 3,000 miles), and opted to put the oil in the power steering pump. Thanks to the invention of the turkey baster, I was able to suck out the reservoir, then refill with the proper fluid.

At the conference now listening to the Vencurrency guy, a last minute stand-in speaker due to a cancellation.

Yes, I'm donning a pink tutu.

Boy, it's hard to standout from the crowd in spite of wearing a pink tutu. There's a rodeo in town, thus having a hard time avoiding the horny cowboys.

I hope the above helps you in getting this resolved for me.

Dear Bruno, please forward all the information to me by e-mail.

davout : are you gonna make us whole?

(last time I ask nicely)

I have no interest in entertaining your false dichotomies.

Finally, we're making headway. I was going to use the email seen in your profile, but since you recently emailed me using a different email address, I will simply reply to that one.

The beginning of the email will consist of the long post above, outlining the 1Jpp... wallet, then providing info about about the two larger wallets.

Thanks, bud.

I think Peter needs to reread his dad's book, where he'll learn...

I learned more concerning our government's tax policy and the manipulation of money (versus the pieces of paper we carry around in our wallets) from this book in three hours than four years of study in college. Schiff boils it down to the essence, from three men beginning a culture to a controlling government, taxing and watering down the money supply. Your view of Keynes' ideas and why Adam Smith's concepts were abandoned will become cystal clear. Should be required reading for anyone involved in economics - which is exactly why the government would prefer that this book be left on the shelf.

I didn't hear the show, thus didn't know who the author was, opting to not scroll down to the end and cheat, but turned it into a game, of sorts. By paragraph three, I made my guess, and the subsequent paragraphs further engrained my belief that I had to be right. I was shocked when I got to the end and discovered it wasn't Dank.  Roll Eyes

Seriously, great writing, as always, Erik.

Any good that is useful and scarce will have a price (consider that air is useful but not scarce, and fish with three eyes are scarce but not useful, thus no price for either of them).

Listening to NPR the other day, I learnt that millions are spent in search of the elusive three-eye tubeworm. How useful could such a discover be, you ask? Consider if it were in a zoo, if able to be kept alive or, moreover, shown to perspective investors when seeking more funding for the next scientific expedition like, I don't know, maybe the elusive Nakamoguru, of which has a defense that allows the fish to actively explore their environment without much fear of being attacked.

Heading there now, so make sure all your questions are in.

So, how did it go?

When I got there, aerobatic was still there, asking all the right questions and taking mega pics, thus there was nothing I could add to his thorough assessment. He's going to be in Las Vegas to address any other concerns others may have in attendance. I suggest asking aerobatic anything, for he's in position to make sure your specific concerns are addressed.

It was a late Friday afternoon when I got there, and there were three major meetings taking place, none of which I wanted to interupt.

It was because of the side trip to Austin that caused me to be delayed in Texas due to the ice storm, otherwise I would have been in front of it and arrived in Vegas early to work on other matters at hand. Last night's stay with limited connection didn't help matters either, but I'm not complaining.

I truly have faith in CoinTerra producing.

5035  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: December 09, 2013, 06:01:43 AM
The claim ID is character string labeled "Claim #" on the claims page.

Let's start with this one, for it's the easiest: https://www.instawallet.org/w/sMceOus2wYrDVAHxA5BssBwB7kgDqC9r4Q

I see two claims against this account, neither of which is mine, although I files one on the very first day InstaWallet started accepting claims, along with two others at the very same time.

The two claim numbers I see are 3a0d26d7-c7a1-45fd-b3fa-c77afe5c5ad2 and bf72db58-1ec7-4ff1-8f00-ceb0b0063063. I ain't got a clue as to how they received claims numbers. Perhaps it was emailed to them, then later InstaWallet added them to the page. I never received an email, nor a claim number generated when I filled out this or the other two claims. Taxing my memory, once I filled out the claims and pressed submit (enter, etc.), the page refreshed to exactly what it was prior to me filling out the form. I assumed that was normal the first time I saw it, thus continued the exact process with the other two claims, with all three doing exactly as I described. There was no claim number to glean, and even if there was one, I probably would have no reason to save it, assuming it would have been for internal proposes on your end, having nothing to do with me on my end.

Back to the wallet/URL above consisting of 0.835 BTC. The following quotes are proof that I own that particular wallet of which I put in a claim for it back in early April, the day the claim process was first available.

My 52.39 btc is also 'missing' sent from one instawallet to another address and the coins are not showing up in the block chain, and the new address isn't showing up either cause its never been used.....

and yet on the address where the 52.39 btc were sent from shows unspent coins but they are no longer in the instawallet Sad

http://blockchain.info/unspent?active=17iQhdkNpoxYcNNcXodPjTWUqSuTC8XaF4&format=html

I like IW, but something has changed recently and I can't put my finger on it.

Before, I was able to see my wallet in BlockChain and it will have the same amount as I view it on IW's URL page. Now the BlockChain continues to read 0 available with the coins set to some other address(es), yet still see a balance on the IW URL page. I'm still able to send coins and they get to their destination rather quickly.

To see what I mean, here's an address I set up to pay out a bounty: http://blockchain.info/address/1JppeHVdYQEBGR4uHVTqLQsb2FY1wUTziH

The wallet shows $0, yet at IW I clearly have 0.105 BTC of which I can still send, hopefully.

I look forward to having some light shed on this.

~Bruno K~

PS: To be clear, the wallet address is 1JppeHVdYQEBGR4uHVTqLQsb2FY1wUTziH

Dear Bruno,

Instawallet has always worked like a shared wallet, nothing has ever changed in this respect.

The fact you used to see coins remain at the deposit address simply means that :
 - there used to be less coin turnover,
 - the cold storage was less used,
 - any combination of the previous reasons.

Some stuff does change though, you used to get your transaction ID back immediately when sending coins, that's not the case anymore, sends are now asynchronously handled by a background worker. That's much more secure in terms of potential race conditions, much more robust in terms of infrastructure, much more maintenable (since now I can simply stop the worker, do some work on bitcoind and switch it back on).

The traffic also increases a lot, to give you an idea, our average weekly turnover is around 10kBTC in, and 10kBTC out, it recently peaked at around 50kBTC/week.

Your wallet has exactly the amount you expect to be available, you can't rely on blockchain.info to tell you how much is available in an account on a shared wallet.

This is how your balance is calculated :

Hope it's clearer Smiley

Then I thanked you with:

At some point, just prior to the hack(?), all three wallets showed a zero balance just like it did on the "block chain", but I wasn't concerned upon seeing this after I moved the two larger wallets containing 1,000 BTC and 132 BTC (though I claimed only 123 BTC), respectively. After I saw a zero balance in both those new wallet addresses, I checked the 1Jpp... wallet and saw that that too was at zero. I just assumed that InstaWallet had a hiccup or work was being preformed in the backend, thus didn't worry about it one iota after just recently being rest assured by you that all is well at InsatWalletLand.

The last transaction from the 1Jpp... wallet was to a fellow Bitcoiner to pay out a bounty: https://blockchain.info/tx/cb32e5147c0510a3423a9b9c57a90fa949a3960422563bf8ade5a621a0939cec

The 0.105 BTC bounty was paid here (surprised to see he's letting it sit): https://blockchain.info/address/13wVc8gyoBSeTGmc7Abz3xtJ5QYRjWenTC

I call it a bounty above, but I guess it was more considered a contest, but basically the same thing: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=132012

It was either March 27th or the 28th that I saw all three wallets showing a zero balance, the timeframe when I transferred the two larger accounts to a new InstaWallet address for obfuscation purposes. The 1Jpp... wallet containing exactly 0.835 BTC wasn't touched after I made the last transaction as shown above.

I have no idea who the other two people are that put in claims. The email address I used on all three claims was dabitcoinguy@gmail.com, the one seen in my profile.

I hope the above helps you in getting this resolved for me.

Found a place in Phoenix that carries adult size pink tutus, and it's right off I-10, so I'm golden. Had a place in mind in Vegas to pick one up at, but probably won't make it in time prior to them closing. I had an ace in the hole, and was goin' to have some other Bitcoiner run by and pick it up for me. Don't want to mention who I had in mind, but it rhymes with edd.  Grin

If there's a walmart nearby (there's one on Trop, down from the MGM), I may shop there for what else I'm goin' to wear: Long pink socks; slippers; white long underwear; dog collar and leash; Orange dress shirt, of which may be the hardest item to get at Walmart. I already have a pair of swimming trunks to further hide my big 6cm. Thanks to the metric system, I'm really able to brag.  Roll Eyes

Glad you made it that far, take lots of pics for us who couldn't take time off Cheesy

Time off from what?  Grin

Just got in Tucson. A tad behind, but will make Vegas tomorrow, albeit I wanted to be there one full day earlier, but the ice storm in Texas slowed me down.

For about 200 miles on I-10 it looked like a war zone and there was still fog to contend with off and on for about 100 miles. All in all, it was smooth sailing.

I'm at Ramada in Tucson if anybody nearby has a spare goat.  Roll Eyes

I paid half than what I did in Pecos, TX, at Motel 6, and have a helluva lot better room, full continental breakfast, and a speedy internet connection--but no goat. Bastards!

I wonder is Goat is planning on making it to the conference.

Good news! At first, it was looking like I wasn't going to make it to the conference, but it's been clear sailing all the way here to Deming, NM. I should have no problem making Tucson, hopefully on the west side of town tonight.

The only thing I need to nail down is the pink tutu. For everything else I need, there's a Walmart east of MGM on Tropicana I'll hit Monday evening when I get to town.

5039  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: December 08, 2013, 04:14:01 PM
I'm probably still on ignore.

I don't use the ignore list. I can ignore you without it just fine.

Either way, if you submitted proper claims (which means visiting your wallet URL and providing a payout address during the claims period), you have exactly one option: e-mail me their IDs, with the corresponding wallet URLs.

Well, for starters, I realized I'm not on your actual ignore list, oppose to Boussac who's on record in starting that I am.

I filled out the forms that was provided on the first day the claim process was available for all three wallets. I have no idea as to what ID you're speaking of, for I never had one emailed to me for any of the wallets.

I do have all three URLs, with only one now showing a corresponding address: https://www.instawallet.org/w/sMceOus2wYrDVAHxA5BssBwB7kgDqC9r4Q

Quote
sMceOus2wYrDVAHxA5BssBwB7kgDqC9r4Q   1JppeHVdYQEBGR4uHVTqLQsb2FY1wUTziH   0.835 btc

For the one above, there are two other claims against that wallet, neither of which is mine. There are two claim #s, and perhaps that's what you mean by ID. I'm not sure.

The other two URLs are: https://www.instawallet.org/w/rL2DhMWW9tDvs24oFwtiq99zhh7A3ii6bg and https://www.instawallet.org/w/gZh1afVVl5aAtjNwXo0BiYChTxjwln33ab

These two claims look nothing like the one I shown above:

Your wallet maybe missing because it received funds only after April 1st when Instawallet was suspended.

Please do not report a missing wallet if it did not receive any transaction.

Email

An email address is required for us to notify you about the status of your missing wallet.

I filled those two pages once again about two weeks ago and have yet to receive a reply.

I don't have any corresponding wallet addresses to go with either of those two URLs due to them just being moved to new addresses on about March 27th (maybe 28th at the latest), 2013.

The one thing I do recall is that all three wallets shown a balance of zero, and the "block chain" shown that the funds were residing in other freshly created wallet addresses, but gave it no concern due to being rest assured by you that that's the way InstaWallet worked. I wasn't even aware of the hack on the first until the 3rd of April when it was mentioned to me via another thread by greyhawk during some mundane conversation I believe (can easily be found). The wallet address wasn't written down because I used Chrome's bookmaking system to log into InstaWallet.

I wanted patiently, albeit was very pissed off at the onset of this fiasco, because I assumed, as promised, that all would be well after 90 days passes, being that two wallets were over the 50 BTC limit that, by the way, some bitcoiners were paid out that amount and over without having to wait for that self-imposed 90 day limit. My hands were tied during the entire process, but now I'm being informed, in no uncertain terms, I need to somehow provide info that I don't have, coupled with not knowing exactly what's required, although I went through the claim process back in April, and again two weeks ago, but for only two the claims, now not being able to do anything on the page for the smallest claim.

Therefore, what ID are you speaking of so that I can email you what you request, or are the URLs the ID? I'm still not sure what's meant by 'key', but I believe it's the last part of the URL. I've asked in the past what's meant by it, but never received an answer to that simple question.

Bruno Kucinskas

EDIT: The following is the post by greyhawk that brought the hack to my attention:

Aaaaaaaaand it's gone. Forever. This is an ex-change, wait, I mean, this ship has banked, wait, I mean, it's bubble has popped.

This ain't good!

We were dealing with Boussac after the hack(?), and you were nowhere to be found for ~27 days, between March 21, and April 18, 2013. Since then, at least two other employees of Team Paymium are no longer with the org.

Looks like the roads are open and the sun is going to shine. Once past Las Cruces, NM, I should be fine. If I make it to Tucson, AZ, tonight, I make it to Vegas on time for the conference, albeit tired and will have to have somebody pick up the pink tutu for me.
