521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: A question about TronLink on: January 24, 2024, 08:14:42 PM
You might have downloaded the wrong tronlink wallet or you might have a very slow internet connection or I think that is why it does not have send, receive, and swap buttons it's because you currently opening a watch-only wallet I already tried to install tronlink on my device and imported a watch-only wallet it does not have these buttons (send, receive, swap, stake, and vote) all of them are gone.

If I'm right and you created a wallet before in tronlink click the wallet on the top left near mainnet it should show the wallet that you recently created click it and hope the buttons you looking for will show up.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core is again downloading the whole blockchain on: January 24, 2024, 06:07:39 PM
BitMaxz, thanks, but it didn't work. I added this text inside the bitcoin.conf file but after restarting, Bitcoin Core won't start at all anymore. It says "Error reading configuration file: parse error on line 2: -datadir=$HOME/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/blocks, options in configuration file must be specified without leading - "
Sorry the above parameter is wrong.

Remove the "-" on the datadir it should look like this datadir=yourblockdatafolder and then save.
It should look like this

Code:
datadir=$HOME/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/

or replace it with this if you just want to point it to downloaded blocks.

Code:
blocksdir=$HOME/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/blocks
523  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hidden Portals on: January 24, 2024, 04:23:48 PM
If it isn't Bisq I never heard of any hidden portals where to buy or sell crypto why not tell us more about what exactly this hidden portal is or share the website directly here instead so that we can check if this can be trusted or not?

There's no problem to share the website unless the website you share is illegal.
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core is again downloading the whole blockchain on: January 24, 2024, 04:08:40 PM
I don't know this one will work but would you mind checking the Bitcoin directory if there is bitcoin.conf file or if you can't find add bitcoin.conf file and add this text inside the bitcoin.conf file below

Code:
datadir=$HOME/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/blocks

Then save it we just adding this to force Bitcoin core to save and read blockchain under that path or you can point other directory path where you save your previous downloaded blockchain. Update here if it works  or not.
525  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum appimage does not run on Linux Mint on: January 23, 2024, 09:21:44 PM
I think this is a compatibility issue according to the error it seems there is no GLIBC_2.28 in your current OS.

Do you mind telling us what is your current version of Linux Mint? You might need to upgrade to the latest version of Linux Mint to install the latest Electrum version.

Or try the tarball guide from this https://electrum.org/#download "installation from python sources"
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Installing Bitcoin Core on: January 23, 2024, 08:59:27 PM
What is the current procedure you are following?

The latest guide to verifying the authenticity of Bitcoin core is already on bitcoincore.org posted above
If it does not work would you mind trying to refresh the expired public using this command below

Code:
gpg --keyserver hkps://keys.openpgp.org --refresh-keys

528  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [UPDATE] Binance BTC Segwit wallet address changed on: January 21, 2024, 11:36:48 PM
I remember having this change, but it was a long time ago. I have not tested what happens with deposits sent to the old address, I assume that it remains connected to the same Binance account.

According to Binance if you are still using the old address it is still safe but it won't be credited to your spot wallet once it is confirmed you need to do it manually using the button available(One click arrival) on your transaction history page. Here is what the notification said to me below

Please note that funds deposited into expired addresses are safe and not lost. However, subsequent deposits to expired addresses will not be automatically credited. You can credit the funds to your Spot Wallet manually using the [One click arrival] button on the Transaction History page.

But still not safe if we keep using the old one that is why they keep replacing old deposit addresses is to make sure the customer's funds are safe.
529  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Believe, "Passive Investors Make More Than Active Investors?" on: January 21, 2024, 11:14:18 PM
If it's a passive investor I think they can make more money since they know where to invest and make a profit I'm sure they would invest a huge amount investing has less risk if you know where to invest compared to trading.

Since crypto is not as stable as local currency there is a huge risk in trading with crypto but to those who already know when to trade with Crypto if a trader can invest more in trading, he can also able to make more profit compared to investors.
530  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: How to host your own solo pool? on: January 21, 2024, 02:21:52 PM
So your plan is to solo mine with your miner that can only mine 500gh/s?
Since it's above 1gh/s as Ckpool requirements you can mine there they have a solo mining pool you don't need to competing with everyone. Here's the link to their solo pool https://solo.ckpool.org/

But if you still insist on hosting your own pool you will need a VPS server and an Ubuntu I suggest to check this Yiimp guide below as alternative suggest from the above post.

531  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [UPDATE] Binance BTC Segwit wallet address changed on: January 21, 2024, 12:53:09 PM
Mine was changed 2 weeks ago I think not all will be notified they slowly notify selected Binance users about replacing segwit address.
I thought that my Binance app was hacked or got a fake notification I tried to search it on Google but I couldn't find any information.

However, I decided to test after depositing some amount and trading BTC to USDT and exchanging it for local currency it worked.
Do not worry about the replacement addresses they just want to keep their customers safe.
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Any means of combining multiple output into 1 ? on: January 21, 2024, 11:58:33 AM
If you mean that these 30 wallets are BTC addresses from a single wallet if you are using Electrum if you created a new transaction or sent it to one of your wallet addresses they would combine and become a single UTXO.

Why not try to tell us what wallet you currently use? If it's not Electrum you will need to export all private keys of these 30 wallets and import them to an offline device as suggested by LoyceV and get the 30 public keys or BTC addresses and import them to online Electrum and make an unsigned transaction it should automatically includes all UTXO  then export it and import the raw transaction into offline Electrum and sign it copy the signed rawTX and import it to online Electrum then rebroadcast.

Just make sure that you send it to a single BTC address if you want to merge all UTXO.
533  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does anyone have experience with ShopinBit? on: January 21, 2024, 11:34:35 AM
I can't find much information about the site the profile account last active is "June 02, 2023, 07:49:29 PM" I don't know if they are still safe to use but why not ask mole0815 he might be still using the site to buy some products.

I tried to access their telegram group it seems that they currently have some issues on their website according to their support it sometimes has downtime and they are trying to fix it.

Why not try some cheap product there since they already got positive feedback from a forum staff?

Edit:
They respond and they are still active and online.
534  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Opinions on Mexc GLobal on: January 20, 2024, 08:45:31 PM
The last I checked, KYC is needed.
Really, is it required?

I don't know but I just heard it from others they said it asks for KYC for certain types of transactions like crypto to crypto or derivatives trades.
Crypto to crypto is usually what I use from this exchange that is why I stopped after I heard it from someone.

Look at this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5474608.msg63187298#msg63187298
535  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Opinions on Mexc GLobal on: January 20, 2024, 08:12:02 PM
Recent 24 hours trading volume on MEXC is $1.234 billion. Is that volume low? It has $884,041,357 normalized volume. In derivative market, it has $2,481,750,551 24 hours trading volume. I noticed the exchange dropped in rank recently, likely something not good may be going on and which might be what you pointed to.
It just dropped recently 2 weeks ago the trading volume on MECX was around $2.5B and slowly dropped to $1.23B but all exchanges have the same statistics.

It was on the top 10 exchanges on both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko a few months ago I don't know the reason but I think it is due to delisted coins.
536  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Opinions on Mexc GLobal on: January 20, 2024, 07:29:19 PM
I haven't heard any bad news about this exchange I exchanged some coins there before but I stopped because they are now asking for KYC verification.
If you are fine to pass the KYC you are fine using this exchange.

Currently, it's one of the top 20 exchanges in Coingecko and Marketcap.
537  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your expectations for the few weeks after the halving period? on: January 20, 2024, 06:17:35 PM
If you are seeking an answer there are many similar topics you can check here on the forum and I don't think you need to make another topic to discuss this.

Look at this one "2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!!"

538  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 'Local' transaction, yet can be found on a block explorer on: January 19, 2024, 05:17:56 PM
That means your transaction has not yet been rejected by some nodes and the explorer where you check this transaction is still on their nodes.
I suggest try to copy the TXID of this transaction and paste it to another explorer check the list below

If you can't find this TXID on some blockchain explorer it means it's already rejected by some nodes you should now be able to re-send it.

Thank you both for the clarification.

I looked at https://electrum.readthedocs.io but could not see any information on how to change server. In the wallet I see Tools > Network > Overview. Shall I un-tick "Select server automatically" and select a server from below "Other known servers"? Is that the right way to change server?

Yes uncheck the "select server automatically" and then under server just right-click any server of your choice and then "use as server".

Also, I am wondering, since the fee of the transaction is so low,  14.0/vB: is there any chance at all that a server  would "pick up" this transaction?

PS the explorer I was looking at was mempool.space.

Yes some server would pick up this transaction but some of them already rejected it.
539  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AvalonMiner 1166Pro-78T - low hashrate on: January 19, 2024, 03:59:19 PM
Well, your previous logs are pointing to a bad pool "POOLS[0]" If you have description logs you can able to read the logs yourself but the problem it was removed from Canaan and they merged it in troubleshooting but some of the fields are missing.

Anyway, if you already flash the unit with the latest firmware but the result is still the same I suggest try aging. You can find this on their tool called FMS_V2.3.3 that you can download from Canaan check the link below.

540  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What price will Bitcoin miners be after Halving!? on: January 19, 2024, 02:19:40 PM
Sooooooo im thinking of buying myself a good ASIC miner or any Bitcoin miners at around 3-5k USD and ive been searching for a while now but my i just had a recent thought of the prices. Im aware of the halving coming in the next 100 days or so. But generally speaking since the Block Reward will be cut in half to 3.125 BTC, wouldn't it affect the price of the Bitcoin miners in general?
I don't think it would affect the price of ASIC units after the block halving but if the value of Bitcoin increases or the profitability of that unit increases I'm sure the value of the mining units outside the manufacturer also will rise.

But im also wondering wouldn't the price drop and it would be a good time to buy those miners then?
That's not a good time to buy mining units after block halving because there is a possibility you can't find available units when the profitability of these units increases. After all, I'm sure no one will sell or Bitcoin mining units may become more expensive at that time.

Since the Block reward isn't the same it would require people to get better miners to mine the same amount they use to before? Or just the fact that in general every halving we tend to have new miners made for to stay efficient as the miner diffuclty keeps rising up?

I think it depends on the profitability of the unit if the price of bitcoin increases and you have a very cheap power cost you don't need to buy new units unless the price of bitcoin drops and profitability drops.
