Quite a good place to do dev work on currency projects.  I think some bitcoin businesses moved there to avoid over reaching regulations in the US.

Exactly, I remind myself about that every other day.  Smiley

Wenn schon, denn schon!

BTW, even here you are not really safe from US regulation especially if you are a US citizen, as has been demonstrated a few years ago when the oldest bank in switzerland (located here in St.Gallen) had to close down, because of a court case (money laundering, tax evasion of US customers): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wegelin_%26_Co.

Can you imagine? This bank has been around since 1741!  Roll Eyes
Had to close down because of overreaching US bureaucrats.
You can't make this stuff up.

But you are right, no better place for crypto-activities than switzerland right now.

But tell me, do you still live in Switzerland ? That would mean that you would be at less than 100 kilometers from where I live Wink !

Yep, still firmly located in switzerland.
In a town called St.Gallen that is.

Quoi, georgem, tu vas me dire que tu parles français ? Juste un peu, je pense?

Je comprends tout, mais je ne parle pas / écrire le français beaucoup.

I did not know that you knew to speak French Smiley !

One of the benefits of growing up in Switzerland!

Yes, that was just a typo. They offer VPS and they accept Bitcoin. They offer you to choose the OS you want. If 60$ per month is cheap for you Cheesy ! I thought something like 7$. I'll manage to find them back. I'll post the link here when I would have found them.

Well, I have pretty realistic expectations about what to expect for 7$ a month. Not much, that is.

Currently I host all spreadcoin related websites (and some of my own projects) on servers like this:

https://www.hosteurope.ch/en/server/root-server/

Finally I managed to find it. Their website is https://noez.de. They don't offer an English version of their website, so I hope that German isn't too hard for you to understand. I recommend you to check if their still operating by sending them a mail, because they still list Egopay as a way of payment, even if this service closed a long time ago.

Sieht gut aus, ich schau mir die mal in Ruhe an. Danke.

BTW, I speak german, english, greek, french and SHA256.

I remember that I found a cheap german VPS host. I'm sorry but I'm a bit new in this area. Is it VPN that host websites ?

It's VPS not VPN.

But I'm not interested in VPS either. I need something with a little bit more "meat". Smiley
Usually called "root server" or "dedicated server".
(high availability, atleast 24 Gb RAM, multicore, full root access, allowing me to install my own OS, etc..)

Can cost up to 60-70 $ / month in BTC.

Today all official spreadcoin domains have been renewed well into 2018.  Grin

spreadcoin.info
spreadcointalk.org
spreadcointalk.net
spreadcointalk.com
servicenodes.org
servicenode.org

Thanks to minerpage whose donation contributed substantially to this.

minerpage paid for all these?

BTW, I am using namesilo.com for domain registration. They are awesome, cheap and you can pay with BTC.

If you guys want to support me with the ongoing payments for domains/servers please use my affiliate link next time you register a domain:

https://www.namesilo.com/?rid=ec92085ck

...and I'll get a little piece of the action.  Smiley

The moment I find a reliable hosting provider that accepts BTC I'll move the official websites.
Any recommendations? They need to offer root server access.

She payed for one year so to speak, I payed for an additional year. For every domain that is.
That's why they are now all registered until 2018.
One problem less to care about.  Cool

Congratulations ! This put Spreadcoin has an avenir project ! I'll soon do my shopping and buy a few Spreadcoin-related domain name to host some Spreadcoin awesome services that I have in mind. I'll be back to you soon, in like 2 or 3 weeks, and at this moment, prepare yourself to be amazed Wink !

Awesome, grab those spread-domains while they are still available, lol!  Smiley
They are getting rarer and rarer...

Given today is presidents day in the states, any chance of a state of service nodes address?  Smiley

I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Soon!

The name "dash" certainly helps to convey the project's intended purpose.  Unfortunately, it's far from a unique identifier.  Searching for dash in google yields ~10 items before dash.org.  Hopefully a spreadcoin name change would take that into consideration.

If there will ever be a namechange then it will be based on our activities.
Much like dash went from Xcoin to darkcoin to dash based on the evolution it went thru.

I think "spread" is a cool meme that we have now 100% incorporated.

It's not about giving this baby a name. It's about finding a "job description" for our project as we move into the future. And naturally this might change over time.

I'm not sure we'll call ourselves spreadCOIN all the time, but something "spread"y it will be.

I don't recommend sendfrom.
...

Could you elaborate on this...
EDIT:I tried it with small amounts and it works fine...

Because you basically have no control where the money will be taken from to create the payment.
You want to explicitely tell your wallet that it should use all those 6 SPR blocks as input.
This is not guaranteed when you use sendfrom, sendtoaddress etc...
Except ofcourse if you guarantee that the SPR address you are sending to is not in the same wallet where all the 6 SPR blocks reside,
or else the next sendfrom might take from this 3000 (or whatever) SPR address instead of using the 6 SPR blocks.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 11, 2016, 05:07:34 PM

...and limit to about 1000 thousand blocks (or whatever the 100,000bytes limit is)?
I will just move all the blocks to another address. Still it will be repetitive, but it will only be couple of times...
I am not sure how exactly sendfrom works... Hopefully this will do the trick.

I don't recommend sendfrom.

Better use coin control UI to see what is selected before you trigger the payment.

I'd make mergers of 500 blocks each.

PS: AutoHotKey is really really easy (only problem: it's windows only). You just have to install it and create a test.ahk, then edit the file (right key), paste my code and then run the file (also right key).
But be careful to have coin control UI open and the focus on the first checkbox you want to start with.
If you aren't sure, just open an empty textfile and see what the macro does before you use it.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 11, 2016, 11:20:56 AM
I could go ahead and select them (quantity/blocks) manually but that would be a physical and mental challenge:
ARROWDOWN, SPACE, ARROWDOWN, SPACE, ARROWDOWN, SPACE, ARROWDOWN, SPACE, ARROWDOWN, SPACE,  and so on... thousands of times!
That "problem" is very peculiar and I wouldn't think it would a be a very common one.
Still - does anybody have any ideas how to proceed, so I make my life easier?

AutoHotKey script would look like this:

Code:
^#!x::
Loop, 500
{
    Send,{Down}{space}
    Sleep, 50
}
Return

Explanation:
Code:
^#!x::
means you can trigger this macro by clicking Ctrl+Alt+Windows+x simultaneously.

then the following code (until Return is reached) is executed:
Code:
Loop, 500
{
    Send,{Down}{space}
    Sleep, 50
}

which means we are creating a Loop that runs 500 times, and each time we are sending a {Down} and a {space} keystroke,
followed by a small pause of 50 milliseconds so that spreadcoin-GUI can catch up. (probably not needed)

You'll need to adjust the numbers, hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

I see your problem.
Maybe you can use AutoHotKey (or something similar) to create a macro so you can automatize keystrokes:

That is a common problem.

make sure Bytes < 10000

anything larger will not be accepted.

Actually it's 100000:
