so the change of airdrop is worse than last time for GB holders too?Huh Angry Angry
 only 10%? instead of 20%

please official confirmation!!!!

Where on Earth do you see 10%?

Read the OP....

Participation in Byteball distribution

If you missed earlier rounds of distribution, you can still participate in the further rounds.
If you already participated or bought bytes on an exchange, you can multiply your holdings with 20% monthly interest.

The snapshots of Bitcoin blockchain and Byteball DAG for the 8th round will be taken on the Full Moon of August, on August 7, 2017 at 18:10 UTC.  What you receive, is proportional to your balances in BTC and Bytes:
BTC to bytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 62.5 MB (0.0625 GB)
BTC to blackbytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 2.1111 * 62.5 million blackbytes (money supply of blackbytes is 2.1111 times more than that of bytes)
Bytes to bytes: 1 byte on any Byteball address gives you 0.2 new bytes
Bytes to blackbytes: 1 byte on linked Byteball address gives you 0.42222 blackbytes

Putting this another way, to receive 1 GB from the distribution, you need to already hold 16 BTC or 5 GB.  These same holdings also give you 2.1111 GBB (giga-blackbyte).

1 byte gives you .2 new bytes = 20%
or (same)
1GB gives you .2 new GB = 20%

My wallet asks me to install new wallet. Is it safe just to download the setup file and run the wizard or how should I proceed? Should I e.g. take some backups?

I think you mean your Program (application) is asking to install a new version.

Yes, it is safe since it doesn't touch the wallet which is in another directory; however, it's always recommended that you make a backups.

Feel like every month, there is a pump and dump for Byteball....

Exactly because people just get it because it's free and they dump those free coins to get money.
544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 11, 2017, 05:03:33 AM

I let the installer run and just changed the destination now getting an error when I inspect the wallet screen. Will reinstall see what happens.

edit: Reinstall worked. Transaction bot is silent. Will try again in the morning to link BTC and BB.

Bot typically down for a few days until the distribution is complete.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 11, 2017, 04:29:24 AM
Quick question. Does this wallet have to run from C:\Program Files? I am getting blank screen running it from D:\Program Files (x86)

Thanks

No.  Why not run the installer and have it handle everything for you?
546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 11, 2017, 01:28:51 AM

So I should sell GBB for GB? How do I do it? Any idea of the exchange rate?

Currently, the way is:
Join the slack channel.
Enter into #trading_blackbyte

Are BB distributed yet from the last drop?

Yes, well mostly.  The smaller accounts are still getting them.
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 10, 2017, 10:43:53 PM
1GByte now $583 on CMC - its lowest in over 30 days. Great news for buyers.

Mainly because Bitcoin has dropped over $200 today (so far).

Hi,

I got two Byteball Wallets, both have balances in GBYTE and Blackbyte.

What's the best way to combine them?

Fyi, both on two different laptops, one I cannot access but got the seed

Easiest is simply to pay your laptop1 from laptop2.
- Remember to send the blackbytes first since you need regular bytes to send blackbytes.
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 10, 2017, 08:15:47 PM
Yes,since v1.8.2

Are you able to transact or does it close the app?

Meaning, can you send funds from the wallet to another?
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 10, 2017, 08:14:26 PM
Noob question: Can we sent Bitcoin micropayment from Exchange or it have to be from wallet?, I keep my cryptos in the exchanges

You can send, but the bot will ignore since it knows it is from an exchange.
Even worse, when an exchange send, it (depending on which one) is not coming from an account that belongs to you.  So, the bot will not know what 'your' balance is.

With an exchange, YOU don't own your coins.  They do until you withdraw.  You should own your own wallet in which case you control them and are able to play with the byteball bot.

Anybody knows what to do when "no byteball prefix" appears after opening the wallet?

I'm getting the same error since v1.8,this is the reply i got,I still haven't figured out how to fix it

Getting "no byteball prefix" on startup in version 1.8.2

What does that mean?

looks like some names of relevant folders are corrupted

You get the same error with 1.9 or 1.9.1 ?   It's kind of a mandatory update.
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 10, 2017, 07:19:52 PM
It becomes a phenomenon that the price pump before the snapshot and jump after that.

 Grin Grin

when was the snapshot , i miss it , i did receive coins but i miss the announce of snapshot ?

Read just two posts prior to your question.
It was block 474898 which was solved at 4:20:40 UTC.  It was the first block solved after the full moon of 4:07 UTC

bb didn't distributed yet?

Same question...what's up with no Blackbytes being distributed yet?

GBB (Blackbytes) are distributed to the addresses with the highest payments first.  So, if you're expecting a small amount, then you'll have to wait.  It generally takes a day or two to complete the distribution of blackbytes.

Can i still claim some tokens? or is the distribution completed already?

Only if you go back in time.  You can't claim something after the fact, so, you'll have to wait for the next distribution.  Just link your BTC address with the transition bot when it comes back online.

But i have to link the wallet before the 7th right?

Yes, you have plenty of time.  You have to wait for the transition bot to start accepting new BTC links.

I wanted to add another BTC address. The transition bot does not reply when entering a BTC address. What'd up?

The transition bot is down until the distribution is complete.  Wait a day or two in order to link, etc.
Basically, you can't link a BTC address during/after the distribution for a couple of days.

1 confirmation.

We can't confirm anything on your balance unless you post the address to check.

Thanks for the reply.

I am not really confident posting that info on the thread, maybe I could PM though.... but I am trying to understand what happened myself.

I have two different byteball addresses linked to several btc addresses each. So maybe it is me that got wrong in my calculations. Two questions:

- What is the exact block that has been used for the snapshot?
- Have the airdrop already been finished including the 20% per previous byteballs?

You're welcome to PM me and I can work with you to figure out exactly what you thought was going to happen and what happened.  Probably best if you're live on slack with me.

Snapshot block was:  474898

All byteballs were distributed (and bonus).
Blackbytes are not yet complete.

in a few days the bot said

Ok, why are some able to get in on this and some have to wait a few days?? sounds sketchy..

The bot is basically shut down for the snapshot and payments.  So, it is locked to make it easy to confirm all amounts.  Really makes it easy to prove to people what their balances were and what was paid, etc.   Sketchy?  Well, you only have a month to link addresses minus a couple of days for everything to be paid out and confirmed.  Smiley

^^Ok Thanks.  On another note, is anyone else still waiting to receive their GB? Neither my GB nor GBB have shown up yet.

No, all GB has been distributed.  GBB is still being done.

555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 08:48:44 PM
As always, thanks for the free Byteball! Smiley

Something strange has happened to me this time:

8 hours before the snapshot I sent an additional 1.1BTC to one of my previously linked BTC addresses.
Some time later (1 or two hours maybe) the transaction got confirmed and checking in transition bot the additional balance was acknowldged.

Yet when I have received my GB it is as if that 1.1BTC wasn't added.

So... how many confirmation are needed for a balance to be considered in the airdrop?

Why do transition bot doesn't apply the same restriction when showing linked balances?

So, you would want to see the word 'Scheduled' in bold cause you didn't see it in a normal font color?

You can't make everyone happy all the time.  Keep making changes to be able to explain everything to everyone and you end up with a 50k page manual and a group of people to read and understand it.  Seems like Obamacare then and still no one is happy with it.

By your own admission, the word "scheduled" is too vague. Clarifying that the snapshot will be taken of the next block solved after the full moon takes one sentence, not 50K pages.  Roll Eyes

I am saying that if you keep making change after change to make everyone happy, then no one is happy and it ends up being 50k pages.
Yes, scheduled could be more clear..... and then people complain about the next word they don't like or simply don't read the front page, because it ends up being so big or long.  Like this thread.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 07:43:43 PM

The fact that it should be made clearer on the countdown page remains. And believe me I made my cut. Even without getting in on the Airdrop. Selling at 32 and getting back in at 23. Pretty good deal. Until next time!

All previous documentation/discussion I can find for these airdrops suggests what you say applies to the bitcoin snapshot, but that the byteball snapshot is instantaneous

Ummmm, linking Bitcoin to Byteball for a distribution is..... Yes, a Bitcoin snapshot to verify Bitcoin balances to be paid Byteball based on Bitcoin.
The snapshot is NOT paying Byteball based on Byteball balance.  It is paying Byteball based on a Bitcoin balance and giving a Byteball bonus.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 06:23:44 PM

I agree but in their defense, it was posted in these forums multiple times prior. Considering you're reading the thread, you should have seen it as well. I'm also brand new to Byteball, but I actually follow what's said, so that's how I knew about it.

Who has time to sift through over 500 pages of BCT posts? The information is not clear in this wiki either. https://byteroll.com/airdrop These resources should be updated to be more clear that it is the 1st block after the full moon, not right on the full moon.

So, instead of reading, people post the same questions over and over again to bloat the thread.

They [byteball] can't say the first block, cause what if there is an issue and it's 2 blocks.  Then all the dumpers would complain again.
So, instead, it clearly says.....
"In the 7th round, which is scheduled for the full moon of July (July 9, 2017 at 04:07 UTC)"

It is SCHEDULED.   Bitcoin did not solve a block at that instant.  It was solved 13 mins later at:  04:20:40.
I am 'scheduled' to be at work daily at 8AM, but I never get there at exactly 8AM.

If the site said that it was AT the full moon, then there is reason to complain, but so would all the people that transferred bitcoin seconds prior with 'unconfirmed' balances and hope to get paid on different addresses at the same time.

Ranlo - Only just found out about Byteball.  I figured you would know about all the various coins.  Smiley
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 06:09:01 PM
So I moved a lot of my coins 10 mins after snapshot and I did not receive any Airdrop from the moved coins.  I wasnt aware I had to let them in the wallet until the script/bot arrives at my linked positions and Airdrops me couple hours later. Really angry now and this is definitely NOT the definition of a "Snapshot". Be careful on future airdrops guys.

No, you moved your coins 10 mins after the full moon, but prior to the snapshot.

The snapshot was 'scheduled' for the full moon of 4:07 UTC, but the bitcoin block was solved at 4:20:40.  (The prior block was 3:57)
If you don't understand how bitcoin works, then a block is 'estimated' every 10 mins.  It is not exact timing, and therefor you can only estimate or schedule for it.

Many GByte dumpers tried to play the system to dump their gbytes before anyone else and simply got stung losing the 20% bonus; however, they sold at a higher rate.  Those that waited for the bonus and then sold ended up with a lower rate.  Basically ended up with about the same amount.   Those that got stung are those complaining that they didn't work the system in their favor and greed makes them angry and post accordingly.  It's the same thing that happens at every distribution.

Oh, and those same dumpers are upset when the price goes up in the following weeks that they should have held instead as the price jumps over what they sold at.
So, right now is the time to buy instead of sell.   You should sell just prior to the distribution and buy back just after.  You would make far more than the 20% bonus you were hoping to profit from and you avoid the race, greed, and anger.

560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 05:58:14 PM

somehow I can't feel sorry for these people who instantly want to dump their coins, right after the snapshot, first in line to dump. /clap /clap Smiley)

EXACTLY.
