@Reid. It might be because the roadmap they had might have changed during the interview hehehe. It might only be bad timing hehe.

I am not defending Vitalik. I am only trying to be fair. However, yes his tweet telling everyone that he did not hear July made him appear dishonest.
5462  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the US Stimulus check going to raise the price for bitcoin? on: May 14, 2020, 04:12:59 AM
Many people need the money desperately, many however have kept their jobs, and will get a double boost of cash from tax returns + Stimulus check.

I think this will have a positive effect on the bitcoin price. Thoughts?

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

The bitcoin news media has everyone confused and celebrating on this unsustainable money printing labeled as a stimulus package. Satoshi Nakamoto created bitcoin with only 21 million coins and a fixed issuance schedule that no one can manipulate for this reason.

Is this the type of stories they want us to hype instead of criticize?

Bitcoin May Get Massive Boost as Democrats Propose $3 Trillion in Extra Stimulus

On Tuesday, the House Democrats revealed a proposal to send stimulus checks worth up to $6,000 per family to help the economy grapple with the COVID-19 outbreak, which has unemployed more than 30 million Americans due to lockdown restrictions.

This new stimulus proposal is part of a $3 trillion relief package being proposed by the Democrats.

All this stimulus, investors say, is boosting the intrinsic value of Bitcoin and other decentralized cryptocurrencies.

5463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPM Bank changes tone and opens for crypto exchanges on: May 14, 2020, 03:06:08 AM
As Forbes reported on 12 May, JPM Chase agreed to provide banking services to Coinbase and Gemini. Apparently, this should have been a very normal incident but, when Jemie Dimon is the CEO of JMP Chase, it makes the news extra ordinary.

Puritans may think otherwise but I see it as a win for crypto community. A good one to cherish for,

News source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/colinharper/2020/05/12/jp-morgan-opens-accounts-for-bitcoin-exchanges--coinbase-and-gemini-up-first/#6c9fa1964026

I can see that it might be a trojan horse by the banks. They are not entering the cryptospace to cooperate. The big banks want to run everything and become the final gatekeepers similar to what the SEC has also begun to do.
5464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum 2.0 delays thread on: May 14, 2020, 02:37:09 AM
As I speculated, their July release date is also delayed. Vitalik expressed his own estimate that a 3rd quarter release date might occur. However, it might be delayed again, I reckon.

I predict that the Ethereum development team might be forced to launch a centralized Eth 2.0 beacon chain without staking that will function similar to IOTA's coordinator.

During a Monday appearance at CoinDesk’s Consensus: Distributed, Buterin appeared to confirm a July launch date put forth in February by the lead researcher of the Eth. 2.0 project, Justin Drake.

CoinDesk chief content officer Michael J. Casey asked if the overhaul to the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap was "really coming in July. Are we ready for it?"

"I think so, yeah," Buterin said, before rattling off milestones achieved so far.

Eth 2.0 testnet coordinator Afri Schoedon countered Buterin’s statements on Twitter. “The final spec is not implemented in any client and we didn’t launch a coordinated testnet yet,” he wrote, adding:

In response, Buterin tweeted, “Yeah I did not say July. Perhaps the question contained the word July but I did not hear July when it was asked.” He then sent a second tweet, saying, “OK I definitely should have heard July in the question, it was my mistake.”

When reached by CoinDesk on Tuesday, Buterin offered a full statement:

“I re-listened to the interview. The question indeed contained ‘July’, I don’t recall hearing ‘July’ so it sounds like it’s my fault for mishearing. Apologies for that,” Buterin said via email. “My actual stance is that eth2 is ‘on track’ in that there aren’t any unexpected bumps in the road, testnets are coming along, etc, but I defer to the client devs on timelines and if they are now saying ‘Q3’ more broadly then I believe them.”

@Lucius. The poor Asian farmer was only an example. On a world suffering from a real economic depression, I reckon a high percentage of 1 country's population would have lives similar to the poor Asian farmer. It might also be worse because the life of an urban poor will be harder.

In any case, wait for South Korea's economy to enter another financial crisis. It might be a good example. Their household debt is 92% of their GDP.
5466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] U.S. Regulators Sue Crypto Startup Telegram Over Initial Coin Offering on: May 13, 2020, 04:17:04 AM
Congratulations to the SEC of America. They have created a precedent to takedown the freedom and sovereignty to build outside of their jurisdiction.

The SEC of America is becoming the unofficial gatekeepers of the cryptospace. Only the projects of their allies will be allowed.

TON is officially dead.

"Today is a sad day for us here at Telegram. We are announcing the discontinuation of our blockchain project. Below is a summary of what it was and why we had to abandon it," he wrote.

"Sadly, the U.S. judge is right about one thing: We, the people outside the U.S., can vote for our presidents and elect our parliaments, but we are still dependent on the United States when it comes to finance and technology (luckily not coffee)," he wrote.

The dollar and its influence on the global financial system give the U.S. immense power, Durov said, adding that the country can also influence Apple and Google to remove apps from their respective app stores.

"So yes, it is true that other countries do not have full sovereignty over what to allow on their territory," he wrote.

5467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: May 13, 2020, 01:46:22 AM
@leea-1334. Moneygram is dumps XRP immediately upon receipt. Read the news source.

@Branko. What would be my agenda? To annoy Ripple bagholders? I am only posting a comment based on the news that I have read and present an argument on why XRP might be more bearish than other altcoin. Also, in a released statement from Moneygram, the company said it is indeed dumping XRP. I pass your question to them. What is their agenda?

I reckon that you might be an investor in this. It should be you who should present an objective argument instead of hyping it.
5468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: May 12, 2020, 02:35:55 AM
@Raja_MBZ. I also posted an article about Moneygram dumping all the XRP that are paid to them by the Ripple decelopment team because according to Moneygram, they might be chargeable under law on holding XRP.

It appears that Ripple is continuing to pay them XRP to use their platform and Moneygram is also continuing to dump them hehe.

Ripple has paid money services firm MoneyGram more incentives in the first quarter of 2020, amounting to a total of $16.6 million.

The publicly-traded remittance company revealed the figure in its Q1 financial results, published on Friday, saying that its total operating expenses include "Ripple market development fees of $16.6 million, partially offset by related transaction and trading expenses of $4.5 million."

Ripple pays MoneyGram incentives for using its RippleNet solution, and MoneyGram categorizes these payouts as a "contra expense rather than revenue" and as a "market development fee based on the volume of foreign exchange that we transact on Ripple's platform."

While MoneyGram receives incentives in XRP, it does not hold the digital asset for long. "We sell XRP as soon as we receive it – we don't hold any XRP," a MoneyGram spokesperson told The Block earlier this year.

5470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Mayor Wants to Re-open Casinos. Thoughts? on: May 12, 2020, 01:19:35 AM
Singapore should be the best example of what the 2nd wave of the pandemic would look like. The country did a good job in containing the virus in the beginning, however, opened their country very early and they had no plan on how to fight it versus the 2nd wave.

I reckon the Las Vegas is being pressured by the powerful casino owners.
People are taking it lightly and they wanted to restart their business and keep it rolling and Singapore is a good example where they controlled in the beginning but when they started opened everything, the second wave is creating problems for them.

The casino owners are powerful.
The casino might be powerful but the pandemic happening now cant be stop through the power the casino had, the only thing that can stop it is we working together and doing every possible best to stop the virus not some people only care about make money while they ignore the possible cases that would rise.
It good that  U.S representative (Dina Titus) disagree with her.

The powerful casino owners do not want to stop the pandemic, however hehehehe. They only want the mayor to declare a reopening of their casinos and risk the people to get sick of the corona virus hehe
5471  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-26] Global Deflation May Not Be Bad News for Bitcoin on: May 12, 2020, 12:53:38 AM
@Betwrong. It will considering that bitcoin is used substantially as a speculative investment by many than a type of currency for daily purchases. Observe how the price pumps and dumps on the exchanges.
5472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Data shows Ripple's community is dissolving fast on: May 11, 2020, 04:26:16 AM
I speculate that much of the XRP Army on social media were fake and from farmed accounts created in an office hehehe.

Account farming was also done here in the forum before the merit system.
I don't think that the problem is because of account farming. In my place, Ripple was very hyped in 2 or 3 years ago. But over a long time, it hasn't accomplished any new development. This abates its investors' interest. Also, a number of people have realized the fact that Ripple is a centralized coin and stop following its social medias.

Agreed that it might only be a speculation from me, however, it does not change anything that there are millions of farmed accounts all around the internet that were created for fake hype and fake activity which might be what the XRPArmy was.

Real shit!!!, Khabib Nurmagomedov vs TonyFerguson will never be happened.  Cry
Let's us expect for the upcoming main events. I hope it will happen soon!!!

Justin Gaethje vs ConorMcGregor
Justin Gaethje vs Tony Ferguson (Part 2)
Justin Gaethje vs Khabib Nurmagomedov
ConorMcGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov (Part 2)
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson will always be an unrealized match up for the fans and with the defeat now against Justin Gaethje there is no way we will see that match up anytime soon. I was expecting Tony to win and the Khabib fight to happen next but now everything changed.

After Justin Gaethje winning the interim belt Conor McGregor is calling out Nate Diaz, the next fight for Justin Gaethje is Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title unification and it will be an interesting fight with the way Justin Gaethje performed against Tony it will be interesting to see the take down defense and the leg kicks and how Khabib will counter those.

Agreed! It has always been an unlucky pairing for uncle Dana hehehe.

In any case, I speculate El Cucuy might fight Dustin Poirier after this loss. Also, clearly next fight for Khabib is Justin. Who will be next for Conor, however? Certainly not Nate. This will not improve Conor's ranking and challenge the champion.
5474  Economy / Speculation / Re: [NEWS] The miners are hoarding on: May 11, 2020, 02:54:00 AM
It appears everyone might be correct. The miners were not hoarding, exchanges not pumping with unaudited USDT. The pump might only be from traders on leverage who are using the halving as hype. The dump was those traders liquidated from their trades hehehehe. However, the conclusion is the same.
5475  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-26] Global Deflation May Not Be Bad News for Bitcoin on: May 11, 2020, 02:19:44 AM
~

I understand this, but why should we imply that Bitcoin price would stagnate during this time? We all know that Bitcoin price doesn't depend on the events in the physical world, and that's why it's so unpredictable. The purchasing power of 1 BTC can rise 100% in a matter of weeks, or drop 50% in the same time-frame. The effect of fiat deflation/inflation on the Bitcoin purchasing power is so negligible that we can safely ignore it.

It might be because the writer of that article also understands and accepts that bitcoin is usually only used as a speculative investment today. In a condition of economic deflation, the velocitiy of money is down, the amount of money every that human being owns is low and economic activity is also very slow.

So, according to you, Bitcoin price should stagnate when the overall economic activity is slow? Aren't we seeing a different picture on the crypto markets today? Or is it because the economic activity isn't slow enough still, and the times described in the article are yet to come?

Yes of course. Cryptocoin markets and others like the stock market and the real estate market should stagnate during a period of high unemployment, low GDP and recession.

Also, yes, the present situation might not be the worst yet. However, we might be in this situation similar to the 2 years before the 2008 housing debt crisis in America. Those 2 years before were pumping the markets of no strong economic fundamentals. This is not sustainable.

In this interview of Anderson Cooper to Las Vegas' mayor Carolyn Goodman, the head of the city insists that the Vegas should re-open the casinos and restaurants for the welfare of its people. Especially those depending on the said establishments in order to get some money to feed their family. While the reasoning for the city's reopening is with good intention, the reasoning isn't sound and clearly done due to the urge of emotion. Anderson even went so far to ask the mayor if she would be willing to stay every night on casinos wherein the workers and the gamblers would be staying just to prove that she is 'with them' in their plight against coronavirus.

If the persistence of the mayor proved to be worthwhile and the city reopens, would you, as a gambler, be willing to get inside one of the many casinos and play there?
even how hard She wanted yet She has no Power to make it happen so this is just a desperate message from a Mayor of one big city.
Singapore should be the best example of what the 2nd wave of the pandemic would look like. The country did a good job in containing the virus in the beginning, however, opened their country very early and they had no plan on how to fight it versus the 2nd wave.
though Singapore faces the 2nd wave grateful and now almost wiping the virus again.
I reckon the Las Vegas is being pressured by the powerful casino owners.
What can we expect here?the Mayor surely concern about the health of Her people but this Big gambling operators?who cares.

The mayor does not have the concern for the people, I reckon. The skeptical me is thinking that she is pressured by the people who made her the mayor, the owners of the casinos.

She would have stepped down if she cared.

Also, Singapore cases are increasing. The country is not successful in controlling the 2nd wave.
5477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: May 10, 2020, 01:38:08 AM

If somehow they can open the leagues back up very late, you guys think warriors would still play Curry and Klay if they are healed? I mean I don't know the exact time line on when they will be back, back in the day it was said that "closed out the season" and stuff like that but honestly the season would have been over anyway. So lets say the season gets back on track on July first, would they even play? Because there is no way they can go to playoffs now, they are waaaay bottom right now to ever make the playoffs, which means is there even a reason to play them even if they play? Maybe it could be for getting back in shape reasons, like put them on the bench and make them play like 12 minutes a game so they can get back in game shape and not be out for too long, but aside from that I do not see a reason for them to play honestly. That is even if league comes back this summer of course.

I reckon that it might be good for team and player to avoid risks for Curry. They are out of the playoffs irregardless hehehe.

In any case, who should be blamed for the coronavirus? NBA would be in the playoffs today if this did not spread.
5478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Data shows Ripple's community is dissolving fast on: May 09, 2020, 04:51:26 AM
@Twinkledoe. It is not the Ripple team. I reckon the Ripple development team does not care about a community of XRP users because Ripple team's adoption strategy is to partner with banks and make their clients use Ripple.

It might be the XRP influencers who might be responsible for the farmed XRPArmy clickbots. There was one female XRP influencer who declared that she was leaving the XRP community because of the toxicity of the cryptospace. Coincidentally, the XRPArmy also dissolved during that time.

I will not accuse, however, why that timing?
5479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] U.S. Regulators Sue Crypto Startup Telegram Over Initial Coin Offering on: May 09, 2020, 04:33:56 AM
It appears that they have launched it. Airdrops might be coming to Telegram users hehehe. What can the SEC do to the free TON platform now?

However, will exchanges list their token? I want to buy $100 of grams as a gesture of support hehe.

The Free TON community, an independent group of software developers, validators and users are launching the "Free TON Blockchain" today, May 7.

The blockchain would appear to be based on the Telegram Open Network, the blockchain originally created by encrypted messenger app Telegram.

The TON community had previously declared that it would release the network, despite Telegram's long-running legal dispute with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and the agency's continuous efforts to block the network's launch.

According to an announcement shared by TON Labs, the community will launch the Free TON Blockchain along with free "TON" tokens to be distributed to users.

Pavel Durov’s Telegram can "no longer be involved" in the project

By launching both the network and tokens independently from Telegram, the Free TON community positions the network as a “provably decentralized blockchain.” The Free TON blockchain will be maintained and validated by a network of independent, non-hierarchical members working on the principles of the Declaration of Decentralization (DOD). The DOD is the primary document that governs the Free TON Community’s operations and is available at the project’s website freeton.org.

5480  Economy / Speculation / Re: [NEWS] The miners are hoarding on: May 09, 2020, 03:49:13 AM
@kaka22. It is not sustainable. The pump will stop when the miners begin to dump and the exchanges also begin to stop printing unaudited USDT. We experienced something similar on 2018 to 2019. This is not speculation anymore.

However, I speculate the regulators might be monitoring Bitfinex's moves closely again.
