6361  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-24] Circle and Poloniex moving from the US, regulatory uncertainty on: July 31, 2019, 02:49:47 AM
@stompix. I know the news article's title is moderately clickbait hehehe. However, what Circle calls their expansion might really be a strategy of protection from America's regulatory uncertainty.

Bittrex, also an American exchange, has already done something similar.
6362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: July 30, 2019, 03:27:27 AM
Am I the only one who wants Pacman versus Conor? I reckon the trash talking would be entertaining. Pacman might not forgive Conor and make him wear his sunglasses for 3 months hehehe.

I think so, Pacman does not fight a UFC fighter to ruin his reputation, he won't follow Mayweather's footstep, instead he'll fight Mayweather anytime.

What reputation? Pacman does not need any more proof that he is one of the best and a hall of famer. Fighting Conor would be one if the best decisions of his life. Big money, easy fight hehehe. He would take no less than $30 million, I reckon.

How much did Pacman get for fighting Keith Thurman?

First, we have to ask, is it really the best for Manny right now?
I don't think so, they are different, Conor can't beat Manny Pacquaio in the boxing ring, just like Mayweather did to him which is a clear one sided fight.
Maybe by the time he will retire like Mayweather, he can have fights like this, right now, he is still in the stage of building more his career and people would rather see a boxer who has the record and who can bring the hype in the game, just like Thurman.

The easy fight with a lot of money would be best for Manny hehehe. He is on retirement age and what is there more for him to build? He has attained more than any boxer in more weight divisions. There is nothing for him to prove in his career anymore.
6363  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-19] U.S. Regulator Probing Crypto Exchange BitMEX Over Client Trades on: July 30, 2019, 02:22:19 AM
@figmentofmyass. It appears Arthur Hayes does not underestimate the American government too hehehe. He has been in hiding and there was not a single post from him and his Bitmex account in social media since July 11 and July 15.

Mark been there, done that Karpeles

An otherwise active social media personality, BitMEX CEO and co-founder Arthur Hayes has gone silent on Twitter for more than two weeks. Is it due to the ongoing CFTC investigation?

His disappearance coincides with a probe launched by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) against BitMEX. The US futures regulator is investigating whether or not BitMEX offered its crypto derivatives services to American citizens. Bloomberg reported on July 19 that the probe is underway. Meanwhile, Hayes is offline since July 11.

The story is the same for BitMEX’s official social media handles. The last time the Seychelles firm was active on Twitter was on July 15. It went silent, just like its CEO, after that.

6364  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-21] Bitfinex Argues Why Judge Should Dismiss NYAG Case in Latest Case on: July 30, 2019, 02:04:03 AM
@squatter. Any win for Bitfinex is a win for the whole cryptospace. However, some people might not take it that way yet hehehe.

Also, this Cohen might be giving up. There are more ICOs than he has time to investgate hehehe.

The Securities and Exchange Commision’s (SEC) chief of the Cyber Unit will step down in August, according to a statement.

Robert A. Cohen will abdicate his role as executive enforcer for the cyber division founded in 2017, after 15 years of SEC service.

I forgot the website, however I remember there was an article written there that some ICOs are not applicable under the Howey test because the tokens are the product in those platforms.
6366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: July 29, 2019, 04:19:51 AM
@ðºÞæ. Sukrin is correct. Also, all the validating nodes are controlled by Ripple. Your tool might cause a small disturbance on the network, however, it will not be as serious as you want to.

It affects each and every coin which can not scale, thats the gist of it.
Any low marketcap coin can be used all others play "Russian roulette" without a fix. Who likes to gable away his (cough) investment.
Not my tool, or code.

Devs need to find a fix without it is lights out.
Issue at hand, the biggest achievement for David Schwartz (aka JoelKatz) to date is loosing the beginning of the XRP database for which he was generously rewarded  1 Billion XRP. Does he have the technical know how to fix it, no. The only option for him is to find some competed devs who put a band aid on and call it a fix.

Ripple can scale more than most cryptocoins, the nodes that validate are maybe less than 50. Also, it might be more effective and simpler to do an attack through denial of service attacks if some on those 50 are vulnerable.

@figmentofmyass. You make it appear practicing law is a scam hehehe. Maybe the law was designed by people to scam other people. All full of loopholes and traps if you know what you are doing.

hello! you signalled that they are now in bermuda.

https://cryptoslate.com/circle-poloniex-us-bermuda-regulatory-uncertainty/

is it effective ?

I am not so certain. The American government's power sometimes extends from its own borders because of their ability to impose sanctions and violence.

Why are you asking? You want Aeon relisted there hehehe?

I reckon the only reason why the race was not boring as usual was because of the rain. Without the rain, Lewis wins and Max might fall on 3rd hehehe.

In any case, it was an outstanding race for Sebastian, good on him.

6370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2019-07-27] Huawei CEO Calls on China to Create a Rival to Facebook’s Libra on: July 28, 2019, 01:40:40 AM
Huawei are already under suspicion for the manufacturing of hardware with backdoors in their networking hardware <switches etc.> and it is already banned in the US and the UK.  Huh  Would you trust a company with your wealth that are doing things like that? When centralized entities like this control their own currency and they are backed by a government that does mass surveillance on their own citizens, then it should raise the red flags.

Libra vs ChinaCoin would be an interesting matchup, but China will react in the same way as the US regulators, by banning the technology. They will want to protect their local reserve currencies.  Wink

Was this proven or is this part of the Trump and the west's attack on China? Sometimes we trust cannot trust any government from any side anymore.

@hatshepsut93. However, on Facebook it might different. It already has users by the billions waiting to use its own monetary system. It already has this type of advantage over any cryptocoin including bitcoin. Captured users.

You can't just take users of one product and expect that they will use a new product of the same brand. History has countless examples of companies with recognizable names trying to enter a new market betting on their brand, and then quickly failing. Even better example, we have Russian social media giant Vkontakte who already did what Facebook wants - released their own coin integrated with their platform, and it's not very popular so far.

What type of social media platform is Vkontakte?

@nydiacaskey01. That is not really a hard choice because she is the clear favorite. However, would you bet? The odds on Cyborg are very low. You would need to bet $700 to win only $100.

Also, is Frankie going to win versus another dominant Hawaiian hehehe?
You're a "bbc.reporter" and you are using american odds?  Roll Eyes LOL
Well I don't think -700 or -600 are very low odds for Cris Cyborg despite her last KO against Amanda Nunes.
The level in women MMA is still very heterogeneous, with huge gaps between fighters. And I think there is one between her and Spencer.

The odds might be fair, however would you bet? Would you risk big to win small? I reckon most bettors would pass on this bet.
6373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [2019-07-27] Huawei CEO Calls on China to Create a Rival to Facebook’s Libra on: July 27, 2019, 02:40:11 AM
I reckon that this might become another stage accomplished by the development of the cryptospace. First there were altcoins copied from bitcoin, after this came the ICOs. Would the 3rd be the creation of the companycoin and the statecoin?

Ren Zhengfei showing the shape of his coin

Telecommunications giant Huawei’s chief executive has said that the time is ripe for China’s government to preempt Facebook’s Libra.

Speaking in an interview with Italian media outlet L’economia, CEO Ren Zhengfei remarked that China has the capability to pursue such an undertaking. He was asked a question about U.S. global hegemony and Facebook’s issuance of an international currency specifically.

Ren was quoted as saying (according to a translation):

“Even China is able to issue such currencies, why wait for Libra? The strength of a state is greater than that of an Internet company.”

6375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can this be good for the cryptospace environment in the state of New York? on: July 27, 2019, 01:08:11 AM
I don't really see much wrong with it. Whereas Ripple is certainly a centralized and regulated pro-bank project, what's wrong with Ethereum? Moreover, it's good that people in the administration will be at least favorable to cryptocurrencies at all (and the Ethereum guy can push pro-decentralization, no?). After all, much worse people could be appointed, both from the crypto sphere like Craig Faketoshi and, even worse, some stock manager/Paypal guys who think Bitcoin's a financial pyramid and a thing drug dealers use. While Ripple and Ethereum might get an advantage out of this situation, I think there'll be good stuff for the crypto market in general.

You will not see anything wrong if you are an Ethereum or Ripple bagholder hehe. However, corruption and human greed is real. I reckon I would only trust them on their appointments if they sell all their coins and leave Ethereum and Ripple.

Boxing: Who Will Be Manny Pacquiao’s Next Opponent?

Source: https://www.oddsshark.com/manny-pacquiao-next-opponent-odds

MAYWEATHER not looking like to be PAC next pick basing on the odds alone
So we already have this, the highest chance has the lowest return. Yes, it wouldn't be Floyd Mayweather and it won't be McGregor for sure. The crowd's favorite that it would be Spence or Crawford. Am I the only one that wants to see Thurman - Pacquiao 2 and Broner - Pacquiao 2?

Am I the only one who wants Pacman versus Conor? I reckon the trash talking would be entertaining. Pacman might not forgive Conor and make him wear his sunglasses for 3 months hehehe.

In any case, this news might also be good news for speculators looking for which cryptocoins to buy hehe. Ethereum and Ripple hehehe.

Joseph Lubin and Ryan Zargone would certainly try to kill the competition.

US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin Voices New Pessimism About Bitcoin’s Future

we see an uncertain future for bitcoin in the US and this is because of US regulators

tbh id be bearish if mnuchin said he loved bitcoin.

all this continued attention from the most powerful people in washington seems bullish. anyone remember the senate hearings in 2013? some congresspeople were talking about banning bitcoin at the time (and some still are today) but we went to the moon anyway. there seems to be quite a bit of acknowledgment among USA legislators/regulators that trying to strangle the american crypto sector won't work and will only hurt the country economically.

However, those bullish legislators' and regulators 'opinions can also change. We should not forget that they are politicians. They act according to their own self interest hehehe.
