5541  Economy / Auctions / Dogie's Comprehensive Guide Ads on: June 20, 2014, 06:52:59 PM
What is being auctioned?
Non intrusive ad space in my setup guides is being publicly auctioned. This has prior approval from Theymos.

Why?
I work for the community full time and am not funded by the community or any company. Donations have not exceeded $50 in total in 2014, and so I have to find a way to keep the guides sustainable and FREE for the average consumer. Selling ad space is one such trial.

Ad Format
  • Leaderboard style (728x90 pixels)
  • Static images (jpg, jpeg, gif, png)
  • Non annoying colors
  • Ads may not misrepresent, lie, be inappropriate, be (or link to) NSFW content.
  • I reserve the right to reject ads for other reasons or remove ads even after they have been accepted.

  • There are 3 ad slots for sale. One slot will be placed after sections 2, 4 and 6 in all the guides listed at the bottom of the post.
  • One slot will be placed after sections 2, 4 and 6 in all the guides listed at the bottom of the post. I will randomise which ad is placed in which slot.
  • The ads last at least 7 days starting from when they are put up.
  • Traffic is expected to be 12,500 impressions over the period.
  • This traffic is exceptionally targeted to the hardware subforum, and more specifically to those who have either bought or are looking to buy miners.

Adblock
As images within text, these ads are not affected by ad block by image. I will use a goo.gl address to prevent url blocking.

Auction Format
The auction will run for approximately 5 days until midnight on Wednesday, GMT+1 (current London time). This may be extended slightly to give people time to ask questions, prepare media and get used to the new format if there are problems. End time will not be strictly enforced.

Post your bids in this thread. Prices must be started in BTC per slot. You must state the max number of slots you want. When the auction ends, the highest bidders will have their slots filled until all eight slots are filled.

I reserve the right to reject bids, even days after the bid is made. In particular, bids from people with less than 15 activity points are likely to be rejected. I recommend not getting into a bidding war with someone who has less than 15 activity points, as their bids might not be accepted, but your latest bids will still stand. If you need to know right away whether someone's bids will be accepted, PM me.

The notation "2 @ 5" means 2 slots for 5 BTC each. Not 2 slots for 5 BTC total.

- When you post a bid, the bids in your previous posts are considered to be automatically cancelled. You can put multiple bids in one post, however.
- All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.02.
- The bidding starts at 0.12.
- If two people bid at the same price, the person who bid first will have his slots filled first.
- Bids are considered invalid and will be ignored if they do not specify both a price and a max quantity, or if they could not possibly win any slots

You must pay for your slots within 24 hours of receiving the payment address. Otherwise your slots may be sold to someone else. I will send you the payment information via forum PM from this account ("dogie", user ID 87869). You might receive false payment information from scammers pretending to be me. They might even have somewhat similar usernames. Be careful.

Sorry for another reply.

FYI i've managed to get it working.  No idea how.  Turn round, spit 3 times etc....

But i've got it running at 290freq, but hash rate is only 20GHS average.

I'm suspecting more and more this is a faulty unit, so i'm gonna follow up with the seller.

Thanks folks.

I've said it several times, do NOT use that string, it does not work correctly in the vast majority of cases. Don't even use 270, just exclude it entirely.

Excellent guide!  And I like how it is updated.

I wish I learned about it sooner.  I first found out via a link on another thread about an hour ago.

i too thought so and i checked the guide before i went to a website- i then did business with the business and lost money... i then contacted dogie and sent tx id... he then responded you got scammed by a scammer- well no duh... thats why i let him know and he refused to lower the rating... so its kinda useless, when its right its just coincidence it has no true meaning

Add this guy to ignore lists, he added a scammer to skype, sent them money now wants me to downvote the actual legitimate business.
5544  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive RockMiner R-Box Setup [HD] on: June 20, 2014, 03:00:28 AM
@ dogie & others,

Just got my PCIe 6 pin to DC barrel plug power line converter. I'm not sure if the seller shipped me the 2.1 or 2.5 mm ID. I could not test it into the unit since i'm here in the office. I double checked w/ the seller, he said that the power line converter was for Gridseed. He can't confirm if he has shipped the correct size for my need. I didn't gave him the instruction... my bad. Now, can you or others here confirm what the Gridseed's barrel plug's ID? Is it 2.1 or 2.5 mm?

If mine here is 2.1, ah, I have no choice but buy some power bricks and DIY the DC plugs myself for the R-Box' use... I still opted to use these power line converters for my extra ATX PSU.

Thanks...

I was under the impression they were 2.5mm, I could be wrong through as I never actually purchased any off the shelf.

0a) What to Expect (top)
The Yiazo YBF is a Bitfury generation 2 clone designed by c-scape which utilises the known M and H board architecture. Each mining kit includes one M board
and multiple hashing H boards. The boards come snugly packaged in bubble wrap within a cardboard box. Specs per H board are as follows:

Chips14x Bitfury Gen 2
Hashrate~30-38GH
Rated Voltage12V
Rated Current1.6A
Power.Consumption20W

0b) What You Need (top)
You will need the following:

1) Powering (top)
YBFs do not come with a power supply, and you will need a typical computer PSU with:

  • 2xPCI-E 6 pin power connectors (only 1 if using 4 or less H boards.
  • 2A on the 12V rail per H board.

Power Supply:
(Click.your.flag)

We also need to tell the PSU to always be on, as there isn't a motherboard to do this. Cut a paper clip into a U and insert it into the green wire and either
black wire to the side of the green wire. Tape it up for safety. The power supply will now be controlled by its switch on the rear socket.

2) Cooling (top)
A 120mm fan is required to blow through the H boards, and two when they are packed closely. They can be low RPM and silent, but airflow is required.
Alternatively, one moderate to high (1600+) RPM 120mm fan can be placed on top of the H boards. There are 2x3 pin fan headers on the M board.

120mm Fan:
(Click.your.flag)

3) Configuration (top)
YBFs contain their own controller and so setup is straight forward.

  • Connect the ethernet cable from the M board to your router.
  • Using a browser, navigate to your router's configuration page to find the IP assigned to the YBF. It will be listed under 'miner-0'.
  • Using a browser, navigate to this IP address..
  • Enter pool information as below, and click "Reset".
  • After a few seconds, press "Reset" to check mining has started.

I've found no problems using the latest cgminer, don't need any additional information strings and its never dropped.
5548  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive RockMiner R-Box Setup [HD] on: June 19, 2014, 12:10:42 AM
Anyone manage to get these over 32GH/s?

I'm running at clock=290 and still only seeing 32.

Mine is:
 RKM 0: 37.0C | 26.72/26.53/26.30Gh/s | A: 5 R:0+0(none) HW:0/none
 RKM 1: 37.0C | 26.69/26.53/25.78Gh/s | A: 8 R:0+0(none) HW:0/none

at clock=290

Put it back to 270, the clocking doesn't work properly. Should be stable 33+.
5549  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: June 18, 2014, 03:31:47 PM
I posted earlier and said my miner seemed to be slowing down but everything looked normal, well it did until I changed pools on it then the number 1 chain seemed to have errors mostly a line of dashes with 3 or four 0's on the end. This morning when I looked there are now a couple of x's in there too.

Any ideas? The card with the errors is running cooler so I guess that's the one that isn't working.

Try reseating it, and or swapping a card in that slot.

Dear Sir, Thank you for all the online info.

Have you tried using the RockMiner R-BOX 3 with an android device. I would like to make a completely stand alone system of it -NOT to use any Windows pc.

Thanks for your advice,

Loopin
You can use them with a Pi, but its almost as cost effective to get a £100 laptop.

5556  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Technobit HEX8A1 Setup [HD] on: June 17, 2014, 08:13:12 PM
Would the corsair 750 cxm work for 2 of 260 GH/s miners?

Would you use the dual PCIe cable for one miner, or would you use both cords for one miner? What about utilizing dual Sata to PCIe with 18g wire for one of the PCIe slots?

I see you recommend the the cx series and wanted to ask before blowing another PSU.

You should be fine running off the same cable rails so a 750cxm is fine.
5557  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: June 17, 2014, 03:19:00 PM
I just picked up a couple S1's and I'm excited to get them up and running.  Having read a ton of threads to prep myself for setup and success I have a few questions.

One - Has anyone used any additional heatsinks on the outside?  I see kits for sale but have no idea if they are worth it.

Two - Can anyone point out a good but relatively cheap wifi antenna?  I don't know the same of the connection on the S1 so I'm not sure what to look for.

Three - Has anyone tried mounting these pointing up.  i.e. with the fan on the bottom?  There looks to be enough frame on the units to do this and since the heat is rising anyway I would think you'd get a little more heat dissipation from the fan versus the normal horizontal setup.

Four - I'm planning to try to run both S1's off on one power source (link below). It seems like it'll be on the line of working if I have both units overclocked.  I have older BFL units that I can steal another power supply (Corsair not the junk BFL's come with) from if I need to.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A0HZMKG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Five - There seem to be pretty mixed responses to this throughout the inter-web but can I run one S1 (both blades) from one power cable that splits into two PCI-e connectors?  It seems like the gauge of the wire should be able to handle it.  Let me know if you run yours this way.

Answers to any or all of these questions would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

1) Makes little difference, not required.

2) See the OP

3) Will make it worse, don't bother

4) Thats fine

5) Not recommended at all, its pushing it way past the limits for 18 gauge.
5558  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining ASICs Technologies Promises 6TH/s Bitcoin Miner And 200 MH/s Scrypt Miner on: June 17, 2014, 03:13:57 PM
They claimed there was no need for independent verification because they were shipping to customers and customers would prove the miners. The last 4 times this has happened, its not ended well.

Dogie, you didnt receive unit? I think it expplains all, close the thread and ppl will not be scammed anymore.

Its not about receiving a unit, its the attitude which doesn't make sense. Every single post for 15 pages across their 4 threads has been about 'we dont think you're real', yet they don't believe they need verification. It doesn't make sense unless they have nothing.
5559  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup [HD] on: June 17, 2014, 03:08:12 PM
If the cube shuts off after 2 seconds, is that a sign that the power supply is not good enough?

Yes, unless its a very high end PSU exhibiting surge protection.
