Interdasting.

Intradesting to me because I figured on a retrace of 5000 since it was blasted past the first time.  Its not so very far off now.

where do you think 2018 ends?
Just before January 1 2019.  I have trusted sources.

I guess monero lost it's stronghold for now, from top 5 it losses it's position to now 12 i guess. I believe the blame is on the devs itself because of there are no upcoming news or further developments as of now. I guess it is time for the devs to come up with something new that may convince it's previous and new investors. Not just another community hype but a progress that will make XMR a promising coin for the future.

Dead project.  Move along.  I wish they would work on the development of Monero, but there is never any progress.  I think I will sell my last 3 XMR for cardano or maybe tron, where constant progress is the rule.

Still used a lot in business. Frankly, it's still easier than scanning in a document and emailing it.

If your fax/scan machine is not too antiquated, it can email documents too!  I used to have one at work, but I stopped going there a few years ago.  It was too depressing.

Anyone think we will see the year out above $250usd?
me.

i think it will go 300s until end of 2018.

they have good events and important updates on their roadmaps 4th 2018.

be patience and hodl xmr

It can go to $300 before end of this month. Price changed that much in 2 weeks so many times in past. Is silly to think that suddenly will not do it anymore.

doubling or tripling in a week or two has numerous precedents.  But there will always be noob doubters.

Facebook is like, really fkn bad with math. Or full of bullshit.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/facebook-banned-583-million-fake-140000338.html
"It disabled 583 million fake accounts. It estimates that overall, 3-4% of its monthly active users are fake."

Facebook monthly active users as of Q1 2018: 2.19 Billion

Number of people in the whole world: 7.44 Billion

Or it could make sense if those 583 million disabled fake accounts were mostly NOT monthly active users.

They are full of bullshit anyways.

fecesbook.  full of shit, ya?

You know what this thread is also about?

It's about people coming in and contributing something, anything, of value rather than simply being an asshat and criticizing the purpose/value of this thread.

My fault. Thought it was "a Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion".

Well there's where you were wrong...  Not sure how you came up with the idea, but... wrong.

I began using computers when I bought my first ZX81 kit and built it.
It had a whopping 1K of RAM and programs could be saved and loaded to audio cassette tapes which was a real hit and miss affair.
Progression from there was the ZX spectrum, BBC micro, Commodore 64, Atari ST 400 (I think), Apple Macintosh....... modern day PCs.
Still, fun days.

had a timex-sinclair 1000 (basically a zx-81 that was prebuilt for usa market) with the 16k ram pack and that sparky printer. still have it somewhere. the sparky printer was pretty cool.

the ram pack connection was so wobbly (instant lockup if you even breathed on it) i wound up hot gluing the whole thing to a piece of wood.

ts1000 -> vic20 -> c64 -> columbia 8088 with (eventually) a 30 megabyte rll drive woot! (1st ibm pc clone) -> ibm at -> self built from there  (386sx and onward).

also had a programmable hp calculator back around the late '70s but it didnt have the stripe reader, i had to code moon lander in by hand each time so i would never never turn it off rofl.

Wow the timex-Sinclair ! My first computer I think we paid around 50$

Wow.  Is anyone in this thread younger than the Big Mac?

Difficult, as Big Macs don't age...

In my opinion the emission schedule should be decreased by 50 %.
For example, the current block reward is around 14 xmr - better to change it to 7 xmr.
It will help the dumping pressure and gives nice and steady growth for the coin.
The existing balances and total number of coins should not be touched but just give 100 % more time for the rest of emission.

https://moneroblocks.info/block/1571959

coinbase is right now around 6.4 XMR. So I guess your criterium is reach and you are happy.

Freshly mined Moneros are now so rare that Monero is getting scarce. Monero is a cryptocurency that is being used everyday and coinbase is one way to provide liquidity for that use.

Don't reply to the bots.

Is it just me, or is it like almost impossible to corrupt on linux? Tongue

It's not just you. The linux daemon and CLI are so amazingly stable. I haven't ever had a single crash or hick up or corrupted anything, ever, as long as I can remember. It is some of the most stable reliable software I have ever encountered.

Some times it will stop finding new blocks and I have to restart the daemon to get it connected to new peers. I think i'm just getting stuck in some dead end corner of the network from time to time. I don't think that counts towards what I was talking about up there, but I'll add it anyway and let other people judge.

I've had the current version runnning on linux non stop with zero issues for weeks on end - first time ever.  Previous versions on windows it would require a kick in the pants at least once a week.  not a big deal, but this is finally a winning combo, for me.

So gross, I've been overpaying every week. My bid is now in at .020.... Fuk

I'm so torn, hate see it lose value even though i'm still trying to buy. Lol seriously bi-polar on this. Smiley

Don't be that guy who ended up hating himself later on after refusing to give in and buy at .0025 when the AlphaBay stories were swirling around back in the day. Smiley
cruel mention

I tried to research how much money was actually invested in crypto and few sources said that it's about 10% of indicated market cap. Yesterday Mt.Gox's Kobayashi presumably sold BTC equivalent of ~$7,000,000 and market cap was decreased for ~$70,000,000, is there any relation or it's just a coincidence?

If $7 000 000 worth of bitcoin was sold, that means another $7 000 000 was invested in bitcoin.  Huh

My last prediction was way off, but I do think we'll see big movement before October. We're deep in the "is anything ever going to happen" phase of the cycle that is reminiscent of last year when the price seemed to perpetually hover around $30.

The general pattern of the XMR market (and all of crypto, really) is long periods of consolidation and false reversals, followed by very brief moments of extreme excitement and massive price increases. I'm confident we're going to see some fireworks (very) soon.

Just bounced off of a line I haven't seen for a while (XMR/BTC), that I drew in  oct/nov 2017, reaching back to May/June 2016.  Does it hold?  Let's find out!

the first 2 times touching this line it more than doubled, very quickly...

A line sort of like this?

 log scale looks cleaner  Wink

Among top ten crypto-currencies (by market-cap), bitcoin still seems the most decentralized.

% of supply owned by the top 100 accounts, standouts:
- Bitcoin 19%
- Ethereum 35%
- Ripple 98%
- Bitcoin Cash 25%
- Stellar 95%
- IOTA 62%
- NEO 70%

Source: https://arewedecentralizedyet.com/

Gotta get rid of my Stellars for sure.

Dash with 14% is the more decentralized, but have less nodes.

I am not sure if my memory is serving me right or not, but didn't the Dash devs have a 2 million coin premine? Or something to that affect? Have they sold their holdings or done some sort of redistribution?

Any sane entity distributes their transparent chain coins among many wallets.  These measures have little relevance to the real distribution, or lack of.

Cash delivery by courier still works for withdrawal...  Not the cheapest, but it does bypass some hassles.

Hi, I was hoping to get some help regarding my Monero GUI wallet for my MacBook pro. I have been using my Monero wallet since September 15th, 2017 without difficulty. Recently, I purchased some Monero on TradeOgre. I sent the coins to my GUI wallet and they never arrived. This was the first time I have not received my coins. The next day I used ChangeNow to convert BTC to Monero and had them sent to my wallet. Again the coins did not arrive. I have logged in and out of my wallet several times. Moreover, it says that the network status is connected. Any help from those who have had such issues or from those who know how to correct this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I suspect your funds are going towards the construction of a new gypsy palace, don't store your coins on websites folks.

What kind of worthless advise is this? The person stated they purchased Monero and then they were trying to transfer to their personal GUI wallet. They were not keeping their coins on a website. Unless you want to consider the moments between purchase and the withdrawal "keeping."
@Zebulonpike. You have updated your wallet to the latest version due to the recent hardfork, correct?

The issue is almost always a wallet that is not fully synced.  Balance will show as zero until it is complete.

just got a youtube ad for "bitminutes" ICO

I thought they put an end to that shit?

How do you get youtube ads in this day and age?

yeah right?

good fucking question actually

about 2 weeks ago they seem to have overcome my current suite of blockers (ABP+NoScript+Privacy Badger running on firefox)

I figured ABP would have it sorted in a couple days...but you are right, it is getting rather annoying.

Nobody else noticed anything about 2 weeks ago?

Being more into free and open source,  I use ublock
