5761  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: May 29, 2014, 07:37:22 PM
Anyone have any idea as to why my S2 is reporting zero as the BestShare?

Received the miner last night.  Usual case of boards all over the place.  Pulled everything out.  Checked all cables.  Reseated all boards.  Fired it up and configured it.  It's been hashing perfectly all night.  Right around the 1000GH/s mark, 53C, posting shares to BTCGuild as would be expected.  Just zero BestShare value.  Not that I'm concerned about this.  I'm getting paid for the shares I am submitting.  Just curious.

Thanks!

I have the same issue (BestShare at 0), latest firmware. Been hashing fine for a week otherwise.

Any clues?

My 23 day uptime S2 is best share 0, its just not coded.

Try btcguild.

Is this a known problem with s2 and eligius? I had mostly good experience with Eligius on S1, apart from sometimes delayed payouts.
No, its common sense. If you dont know if its your machine or a pool, try a different pool.

My pool shows 6 times less btc than I expected and also shows 20% shares accepted. When the machine first started (~24 hours ago) it was at 100% accepted. Is this pool's fault or machine? Any help would be appreciated. Machine shows that it is hashing at semi-normal speed (i have only 9 out of 10 boards functional).

Which pool?

Eligius

Try btcguild.

Could someone post a video/audio of SP10 running so that we could hear the noise level please.

thank you

I specifically haven't because its 1) impossible to capture 2) impossible to comprehend with a video. Use a decibelometer to comapre other sounds you know

how loud is LOUD?

are we talking the volume of an S2? 4-6 S1 units? or is this vaccuum-cleaner loud?

Louder. You'd probably need 40 S2s to match the noise pressure of a single SP10.

0a) What to Expect (top)
The BiFury is designed by c-scape and features 2 Bitfury generation chips. It ships in a USPS cardboard sleeve and is wrapped in copious amounts of static paper.

Chips2x Bitfury gen2
Hashrate~5GH stock
Rated Voltage5V
Rated Current0.9A
Power.Consumption4.5W

0b) What You Need (top)
You will need the following:

  • A host windows PC.
  • A 1A+ USB hub (see below).

1) Powering (top)
BiFurys are USB based miners, and as such are powered directly from a USB hub. Hub choice is extremely important when running multiple miners. The USB2
specification is designed to provide up to 0.5A, and USB3 0.9A and so USB3 is strongly recommended.

  • Plug in the USB hub's power adapter into the mains and the USB hub.
  • Plug the BiFury into USB hub.

2) Cooling (top)
External cooling is not strictly required at stock speeds, but is strongly recommended. This can be done with the use of a 120mm or USB powered fan.

120mm Fans:

3) Configuration (top)
Configuration is straight forward. Both BFG and CGMiner are currently supported and a Windows based PC is therefore recommended.

BFGMiner:
  • Plug in a USB cable from your USB hub to your PC.
  • Power the BiFury as above and turn the hub on.
  • No drivers need to be installed.
  • Download BFGMiner and run it.
  • Create a new text file using notepad, with your pool and miner information in it, as below. Save it as a .bat file in the same directory as BFGMiner.
  • Run the bat file to start mining.

This is a different controller mechanism. Take a good luck inside the slot and see if you can see any debris or loose pins. Its unlikely but worth a shot.

Thanks, no, no debris or visibly misaligned or loose pins. I even tried to vacuum with a small handheld-nothing. I am wondering whether to continue at 90% or send back the miner and lose a week (if all goes well). Phillip on the main S2 board suggested that it might not draw enough power somehow on slot 1. is this possible? I can check it, but as always, tough to do this when hashing is going on.

Yes its possible as it looks like its more than just the comms pins which are dead. You can ask them to send you an S1 as a replacement.

I just got my S2 but for some reason it's not hashing when I change the Pool Setting but When I reset the machine to original factory settings it starts hashing automatically with the factory pool settings, any idea why, I tried to set it up like the S1 but as soon as I change the pool setting it will not hash.

any help would be appreciated.

Figured it out, looks like all 3 pool settings need to be put in with the http: prefix.

Which is exactly why I asked the other two for screenshots Tongue Everyone thinks they put it in right, but different miners have different formating requirements.

Agreed. Also, looks like Bitmain sent me a 220V power plug, is it ok to use a standard computer power plug with this machine, on the cable it says UL 9vt e49100 60 deg C vw-1 3X18AWG, when I hold the cable and plug it's warm, it's drawing most likely around 10A.

Not sure on that, wasn't aware cables had a voltage rating? 10A is fine for one of those cables if they're rating 13A. It will be warm, but they're fine up to 60C.

This is the network setting.

And the other one? And is that IP sensible for where you are at? Mine is 192.168.1.100 for example.
5777  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Next generation ASIC design IP for sale on: May 28, 2014, 11:02:40 PM
tldr, have paper plans for a chip, buy it from us. Sounds reasonable, but unless you're willing to insure the design and all costs involved proving that....
5778  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: May 28, 2014, 10:37:49 PM
I have exact same problem as audiotex.  I configured antminer with DHCP so the gateway field doesn't populate.  I have everything running by Hash is at Zero.

I had a cable unhooked on the board that I hooked back up again after adjusting the blades.  I am not able to find anything that is not connected.

I am able to ping bitmain, so it should be going through the router.

Still need to see a screenshot.
