1. It asked me if i want to run it in private mode, and let me know the consequences at install time.
2. With ABP i had some sites with "disable ad-blocker on this page, or you won't see the content", which worked out of the box with UB sucessfully filtering out all the ads.
3. Removed that youtube commercial spots, even on the videos ABP failed doing so.

Hm, ok. On most sites with unblockable ads I found a simple Javascript toggler can get rid of their crap and the ads. I use it from time to time.

Personally I believe it's my computer and I should be able to control what I see and download onto it. I also strongly believe in subscription models for valuing information and find the whole "ad supported model" to be 100% bullshit and a return to the Hearst News rags and that crappy Broadway play "Newsies". But that's a very different discussion.

Actually installed it right after reading to give it a try.
It made me uninstall AdBlock Pro after a few minutes.
Thanks for the tip!
Really? What made it so good?

Man am I in a pissy mood today.

You know what really pisses me off? It's those fkn adverts that autorun at the beginning of every YouTube channel these days.

You know the ones.

Hunky dude: "Cardio burns fat. Right? No! Cardio burns calories that... blah blah blah"

Old bearded man: "Jeff Bezos just invested millions in a tiny biotech company blah blah blah..."

Ugh. Balghlaalahfahgh.

Adblock Pro. Fixes that problem. Man with it disabled U tupe is a complete pile of crap.

Just don't forget to hold onto your corn. Don't let Elon have it for Doge.....

589  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 04, 2021, 03:46:18 AM
Since we're all talking about shitcoins, I dragged a pair of Titans out of the shed and set them up to mine Doge for the heat. They are *quiet* and surprisingly warm, two of them pulling 500 watts total can keep a cold room comfortable.

I could probably pop a pair of Neptunes out in the other room just to say I am still mining bitcoins. I think I'll do that :-)

2. Regulation. This is much tougher. Once the car is smart enough to mind speed limits etc. for you, do you think traffic authorities will be keen to give up that level of control? Let you hack the "engine" at your will? Forget it.

Whelp......

The "motor" itself is not that complicated. Multiphase electric motor with vector control if I recall. One could probably build a controller for it with some high power IGBTs and get moderately reasonable levels of performance. So tear out the Tesla stuff and put in something else.

Is that "illegal"? Hopefully not: I can take the gas motor out of a car and replace it with a propane motor and happily drive it around. Or a lawnmower engine of sufficient size. Now an interesting question is the sales agreement: Do they sell you the car, or lease it to you with stipulations that you can't reverse engineer any of it.

Hm. When the first Teslas finally go for 5k with blown batteries I may check into this. Rip out all of the Musk smell and put in my own system. That could be interesting.

That dude is all talk. People should stop kissing his ass.

I still cant believe how they land those rockets time after time.. that's more than talk.

Now if he starts accepting BTC for Tesla cars buys, we can arrange something about the kissing part...
Open source the code and allow me to truly "own" my car and I'll pick one up.

Some people suddenly seem to faint with ecstasy whenever someone pronounces the name "Gamestop".

This is not about Gamestop, this is about shorters using their influence to artificially push prices down even further. It's about abuse of power. And that's indeed unacceptable.

No I agree, and I think most people, even the degenerates on WSB know what it's all about. It's become Occupy Wall Street 2.0 in cyberspace.

But funny thing though, no one seems to care when Wall Street hitches all the hedge fund wagons and indexes to a few FAANG stocks, and then has the Fed give the CBs trillions in free money to continue pumping those few stocks to the moon. Just as corrupt a situation, if not more so. It's collusion of the highest order.

I'm sorry Torque, Elwar, and others: I think this is "all about" a simple pump and dump married with a warped assed sense of "social justice". Feelings are a commodity like corn or oil, and in this case feelings of "rage" are being cashed into pumps and dumps across the financial spectrum.

In the old days the hucksters would have to call you on the phone from a suckers' list and pitch you pink sheet stocks that you buy, price goes up a bit, they sell, you're left with worthless crap. Back then the hook would be greed, stupidity, maybe religious fervor (your church could get a new steeple! Or more clubs to bash Gay people!). Shit they made movies about this con game.

But now... Now it's "different". Now you can profit off peoples' rage and lack of willingness to do anything about it. Instead you can get them to crowdfund a "cause", stick it to the "man" and all the while the shares you bought go off to the moon. "Look, he's honest, he has a hundred million in shares and *only* cashed out 5m!".

Much like Occupy people were fucked, and Q-Anon people were fucked, these guys will be fucked. But the trick is the exit strategy in this con counts on these people saying "Well I lost my $100 but at least I was able to stick it to the MAN!!!" And they will be happy and the instigators will get their money.

Maybe it's even worth it in some twisted way....

the crooks/idiots were shorting 140% of the share float .... they can't all get out together even if they wanted to (down to 120% on Friday close) the main part of the squeeze hasn't happened yet

r/wallstbets has their foot on the throat, new buys increase the hedge funds losses, so they are liquidating longs in big caps to cover margin calls .... has systemic implications at some point, they broke the rigged game by taking it to it's absurd extreme, reductio ad absurdum, GameStopped it, quant models exploding everywhere, AI didn't see irrational autists on the horizon

Why don't the brokerages pull a Gox and issue retailers shares that don't exist? They lent phantom stock for naked short-selling, so why not take the fraud to the next level.

That's called a "bucket shop", totally been done before. Pretty good fraud profit to be honest.

I almost want to open a Gamestop now.

They could take this influx of money and turn it into something amazing for the gaming industry.

Or instead of going to the mall you go to the Gamestop.
You all DO remember that this is the same company that bought ThinkGeek and ran it into the ground.....

Oi.

The reason Doge is up so much is that Roger Ver keeps repeating over and over that Bitcoin transaction costs are too high. So people are moving to Doge to solve that problem.

I think that's what he was getting at.

That was the main reason for LTC. Well that and the 2.5 minute "get this hooker out of my room" feature. That's worth a lot.

Which is fine: BTC is not for paying hookers.

Edit: BTC is doing pretty well again. That little drop into the 20's was just a fire sale by panicked hands. Enjoy!
596  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 29, 2021, 04:28:25 AM
Idk how much bad of an idea it actually is? Because the wsb discord guys seem to be trying to hold dogecoin until it's $1. Thats a substantial increase but pretty unlikely all things considered.

Maybe, his deal. I try not to go for things like coins that I don't inherently believe in.

Quote
Can I ask why do you consider Ether so bad?

I've mentioned it before, but when Ether wound back the chain and changed the rules to protect the DAO they voted for transactions to be inherently malleable. At that point they chose the path of "a group of people will decide who owns what coins" instead of "let the chips fall where they may". DAO was not punished for their errors, they were rewarded.

I find this bad. Evil sort of in a system where transactions are absolute. That's why I have a bit of ETC (the chain that didn't fork) because they chose the right path. Even if it's a massive price difference between the two.

I guess I'm weird that way. But it's what attracted me to bitcoin and well, here I am.

My moron son just traded $20 of his satoshis for dogecoin. I tried to warn him but I guess you just need to learn.....

Ah well. Could be worse, could have been Ether.

I am dumping doge left and right it is over it highest point ever

it got to 7 cents today

it was 1.1 cent yesterday

Shit yeah, if I had any I'd be trashing it. Alas my wastes of time were FujiCoin and Catcoin (why?)

Who knows eventually someone will pump every shitcoin.
