581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarket.io | New, self-moderated support and news thread. on: March 24, 2014, 11:20:00 PM
Writing's on the wall now, it seems. If BTC doesn't start moving by the end of today, I think everyone's sort of realising this is all a big scam.

Pity.

It's always just a patch away, or a fix away, or some script away. They've given themselves a day with their last excuse. People aren't going to wait any longer.
582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: March 23, 2014, 11:25:16 PM
What happened to PMC on coinmarketcap?

Quote
148th    Premine    $ 21,739    $ 0.044    499,000 PMC**    $ 32    +5.23 %

It's on the second page.
583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]DeleteCoin *PROPOSED FORK* Please read and provide feedback on: March 23, 2014, 11:22:36 PM
I for one am glad of the changes, and for a developer who is willing to listen to the community and make the changes necessary to make the coin a success. Or would you rather a developer who left things as they were, or just abandoned the coin? If so, perhaps DeleteCoin isn't for you.

I think this coin has massive potential to shake up the market, so I'll be supporting it, and following its progress with great interest.
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Greececoin (GRCE) - LAUNCHED GET MINING! - NET HASH OVER 8GH!! PROFITABLE! on: March 23, 2014, 04:07:33 PM
Lets see how long this coin lasts. Good chance its another Spain coin which will die within the week. I hope not. If you want this coin to succeed, STOP SELLING at this low price. Rather sell & buy at higher price. Let this coin mature!
+1

Ain't going to happen. Dumper mentality. Best you can hope for is a strong pump before it plummets.
585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 01:51:01 PM
Also social deviance and innovation are closely linked from a sociological perspective.

But that may be a little over the pay grade of many posting here.

I believe this thread is just a natural progression of the cryptocurrency market. It's attempting to correct itself. You can't have markets expand indefinitely. It's like entropy. Eventually the market will suffer heat death and die.
586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 01:48:23 PM
I really love this idea, and the people attacking it have to understand this is perfectly legitimate. When you create decentralised currencies, alls fair on either side of the fence, and so this is simply the market at work.

The market is oversaturated. So many crapcoins sharing BTC between them that every coin suffers because of it. The real reason alts are going down isn't because Bitcoin is going down. Sure there's a correlation, but it's much worse than that. There are just way too many tradable altcoins, and there's only so much Bitcoin to spread between them.

If a coin has legitimately strong support, what does it have to worry about?

Yeah, we get it. 'Crap coins' are diluting the market for your favorite 'real coins.' Sounds like people are losing money and going to attack others who are doing the same thing as them.

Attacks like that will cause plenty of financial damages to innocent parties as well. Not everyone out there is well-versed on what drama has occurred for which coin.

That said, I'm not even arguing about the quality of launches. For the last 10 days there have been numerous cases of countdown clocks not working, no wallets at release, scam IPOs etc.

It seems to me that many people who have been getting their fingers burned have probably learned.

Yelling 'ShitCoin' in every thread just pushes the thread to the top and forces people to choose sides. No arguing means the thread (and the coin) floats to the bottom and down the hole.

Maybe it would be more constructive to create educational threads that teach people why it's bad to support certain coins and launches, how to long out for scams, etc etc.

Just my two cents  Grin

Not my favourite coins. All coins. This effects every single coin on the market. Not just the ones I hold. The ones you hold. The ones everyone holds. There is only so much BTC to spread between them.

Hell, I might even be holding a few crapcoins myself. But I'd rather see them dead and buried if it means the actually innovative coins, with real developers behind them, actually stand a chance of being successful.

It seems a bit hypocritical that so many people are happy with pump and dumps, yet you dare suggest taking a coin down, and somehow you're an enemy of the system. There needs to be some sense of balance, and right now the market is becoming increasingly diluted, and we're all losing out because of it.
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: March 23, 2014, 01:33:35 PM
It's good to see that PMC is recognised as a solid coin to keep an eye on. These pump and dump coins will come and go, but PMC will be here when they're long dead and forgotten.

Interest really seems to be picking up for Cashcoin.

Is it going through a revival?
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarket.io | New, self-moderated support and news thread. on: March 23, 2014, 11:37:49 AM
I'm pretty much convinced this is a scam, now. The site will close, the BTC will vanish.

Sorry, but you can only read coinmarket's bullshit for so long.

Total scam.

Don't listen to the shill accounts claiming they managed to withdraw their BTC. Coinmarket are doing nothing but keeping the angry mob at bay before they vanish. That is all.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy Thinking of adding USD!? on: March 22, 2014, 06:01:15 PM
I really don't see it happening, but I could be wrong. Cryptsy would be subject to all sorts of regulations and scrutiny, and there's a shady Cryptsy conspiracy theory every other week on these forums.

No, this isn't the fake thread.

Wallet will be released one hour before launch (password protected)
Password and source code will be released at launch.
Make sure to refresh the page at launch time!

As long as you make sure the password is incredibly secure. I've seen some pretty dreadful pre-release wallet launches where the wallet got brute-forced before launch.  Cheesy
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: March 22, 2014, 03:41:27 PM
Giving your bag away is your only chance Tongue

I actually agree with this. Not your entire bag, but even 10% would have an impact. It just baffles me why some people are so greedy as to not give away a single coin. If everyone just gave away 10% of what they held, their coins would actually be worth more.
595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: March 22, 2014, 11:29:30 AM
Network hashrate is quite low right now, so I've reduced the block rewarder for the moment. It's been running all week, and I've expended about 50 PMC so far.

I've got to do some PHP coding this weekend, so I'll have a look at the trading API for Poloniex later.
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]DeleteCoin. 1 COIN TO DELETE THEM ALL! TRADING ON SWISSCEX.COM and NXT-E! on: March 21, 2014, 06:57:23 PM
AltDeleter, if I am one of the people you are happy to hold half of the premine, I can have my cold storage set up tonight and put up the address.

There seem to be a few different suggestions as to how exactly DeleteCoin should operate. It would be a good idea to get that nailed before we start trading in altcoins for DeleteCoins.

Agreed. I think both suggestions are great idea's, it's just which was is the best route to go for the coin. The exchange I am getting for most coins is about 200 delete coins on average, which is less that one block.

So at this point, do we try to implement Nullu's idea where we try to dump the coins back onto exchanges, and buy back deletes and remove them and essentially boost our price? The only issue I see with that is finding an exchange that will take the coins or finding a buy order.

Second option would be to hard fork the coin and change max coins to make the premine worth more. At that time we could change the block reward to drive down the total supply. This will have a big impact on the front end as there is already people out there with a large supply. However with this it will reduce the max amount of coins increasing the price substantially and allowing us to acquire more alts. If we forked, I'd suggest we make max coin 600 Million (500 of which would be the premine) and change the block time for minting coins to 10 minutes instead of 1. That would make the minted coin just over 13 million per year.

If there are another suggestions I am 100% open to suggestions. I want this coin to be beneficial to the community most of all, and I want us to help alleviate this epidemic of horrible alt coins. In my eyes, an alt coins needs to offer something to the world.....not just have a picture of a squirrel on it.

I would expect that as you buy up Deletecoins and destroy them, you will push up the price. and therefore the odds of other exchanges taking an interest. It's going to take time for that to happen. I would say no fork is required. Just do as proposed.

The only real technicality is the exchange of Dels for the altcoin in question. There should be a community selection process (community suggest coins, and you open up a poll thread for which coin to target, community vote decides) Then the hand over of altcoins for del can take place. This is going to be tricky without Del being listed on more exchanges, and this will only work with coins on exchanges with buy orders, but you can escrow the trading, or perhaps you can get the coin listed on a website such as coinswap, and just make trades that way to start with until the gain is on more exchanges and has more exposure.

Ideally Del needs an exchange on board with the idea, so they not only list DeleteCoin, but whatever coin it is you wish to delete.

Testers wanted.

I'm working on an update to the PMC Android Wallet.

The new version will have the option to import a private key by scanning (or pasting/entering) a private key. This is especially useful to redeem a paper wallet (ex: http://Preminer.com) or to use a vanity address.
BIP38-encrypted keys are supported, so any private key QR Code shown on a Paper Wallet can be scanned.

Disadvantages are:
- The whole blockchain must be reset. And it takes several minutes to re-download.
- Decrypting a BIP38 key takes about 30 seconds on an Xperia Z. It may take a long time on low-end devices.

Besides that, it's working OK. In a future version I'll try to improve these points. But I'm not sure it's even possible.

This is a new feature, not present in the original Bitcoin Wallet, so it needs to be deeply tested.

Tests should include:
- Importing a normal private key.
- Importing a BIP38-encrypted private key, which can be generated here.
- Trying to import an invalid key, or using an incorrect password.
- Verifying the funds of the imported address appear and can be spent.
- Overall checking.
- Suggestions to make it more user friendly.

If you have an Android device and can help me testing it, please PM me. If you don't have any PMC, I can send one to your paper wallet so you can test it.

I have a spare nexus 7 i can test this on, I will be happy to test it.

This is what I tested it on before the wallet was first released, too.

Just seems to be more and more stalling. Information needs to be public, not behind closed doors.
599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HBC] Hobbitcoin : Rebirth Project on: March 21, 2014, 11:44:42 AM
I still have some of these from when the coin launched.

Good luck with the Hobbitses, precious.
600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to invest in Maxcoin?? - Highly recommended by top Analyst on: March 21, 2014, 11:43:50 AM
Yup, right after he recommended it, it jumped from .00019 to .0003+ within hours.  Maxcoin is going to hit .0005 soon!  it's way undervalued:

https://twitter.com/CryptoInvesting

It jumped because someone said you should buy it. It just sounds like a pump, to me.
