581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: September 26, 2023, 09:50:41 PM
I have seen this post that Kyt Jimenez of SMB has signed a contract already with the team. That's good news honestly because I've seen people commenting that he won't be with the team unless the team signs him up. So, with full-stack roster of SMB, the playing time won't matter to him anymore as long as he'll get paid but I am sure that it's still a dream of his to play with the team and contribute to them. It's a 2-year deal which is already a good start for him. While on the FiberXers, three rookies were also signed.
582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reasons you should not gamble on too many things at once. on: September 26, 2023, 09:26:12 PM
We're seeing a lot of advocates telling us that we shouldn't gamble because of this xx reason and that xx reason. Well, those are the effects when someone gambles and that's known by most gamblers. If someone wants to gamble and can't stop himself, there is no problem with that.
It is their money that shall be spent whether for gambling or a pastime that they've chosen. One thing here is they should maintain themselves for not being emotional. A gambler who's too addicted will realize that he's going nowhere and those that are just having fun, we're all going to spend time and money on it. So, expect that everything you do with either the need to have money to start will definitely make you spend both time and money.
583  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: DCA on a real account: does it work? on: September 26, 2023, 08:58:34 PM
You can't be sure with that ROI you're mentioning with those numbers. Because from what I am experiencing through DCA, you just can't measure how much the ROI, the losses, and the profit will be. It is literally unknown. And you can't just do DCA on fake accounts or demo accounts because we're talking about real money here, real crypto and without such, you can't buy those on any exchange.

I'm not a trader, so I was looking for a more passive approach to investing. I'm hoping that this strategy will be a good fit for me.
This is the better approach if you're not really a trader. Yes, it's passive and for sure if you have understood how it works, it's certainly a good fit for you.
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's GAS increase. on: September 26, 2023, 08:29:00 PM
Good day, all,

So, there was news recently about the rise in Ethereum's Gas rising to 72 GWEI on the 26th of September, 2023, and I decided to research it.
Was it that high? Upon checking on how much the gas fees are, it is not that much as of now unlike to what you've said. While for coinmarketcap, I have checked the fees and it's like this.

Quote from: coinmarketcap.com
Slow/Standard ~24 gwei 165 secs

Fast ~69 gwei 45 secs

Now, the causes of the increase include;
At most times, it's always that the network is clogged and that's why the fees are that much. The other day, it was on bitcoin and that's due to ordinals.

Congratulations to our Gilas Pilipinas player, we have our first win in the Asian games.

Well-oiled Gilas trumps Bahrain in Asiad opener

Quote
Gilas opened its Asiad gold medal journey with an 89-61 drubbing of Bahrain Tuesday at the ZJU Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.

That was a big statement from the start, winning by 28 points.
Congrats to our Gilas. Although many are saying that Bahrain isn't a strong team. We're all cheering for them that this win is going to continue but we all know that there's one tough team that's also included in the group.

I've seen some praises for the team, especially for Tim Cone. I think his system is really working for the team, as I've noticed some good plays. They don't force their shots, there's no one-on-one plays; they are sharing the ball well, and everyone is shooting with a high percentage.
This is what many have noticed and sorry but they probably are expecting that there will be a comparison between the past coaching management and how Tim Cone handles this squad. Commended for the coaching staff and of course to our heroes.
586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There is a code that allows PayPal to freeze your crypto assets. on: September 26, 2023, 10:58:10 AM
Paypal's new USD stablecoin isn't decentralized.
Actually, all of them aren't decentralized as long as it's being owned by an entity or there's a central authority that has made by it. So if this stable coin of Paypal is made, you don't expect it to be decentralized. In the past, Tether could even freeze your funds if you've done something wrong and it's reported to them, that your USDTs are likely to be frozen by them.
Your account alone there also can be subjected to freezing if they find you did something wrong too.
587  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: September 26, 2023, 10:22:40 AM

Quote
Rewards are calculated on a 5% per annum basis.

So ibig sabihin, for example, you are just holding a minimum of 20 USDC, so the reward is somewhat like 0.020 USDC weekly?
Tama, kasi yang 5% ay yearly. Ang daming di magets ang annual doon sa FB page nila.  Mas maganda sana kung compounding interest pero okay na yan kasi nakikita mo yung gain mo weekly ng walang ginagawa.
588  Local / Pilipinas / Re: PhilHealth under siege: US$300,000 ransom set by Medusa ransomware group on: September 26, 2023, 05:55:53 AM

589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling game is not good and everyone should stay away from it on: September 25, 2023, 05:51:17 PM
Gambling can ruin or make someone's life better. In your father's case, you truly are feeling the bad side of it because he did the wrong thing or not prioritizing you as his family and that's why there's grief on your pause and the encouragement to everyone here to not gamble at all. But for some rare stories like our fellow countrymen that's working in UAE managed to win the draw that made her win around $6,800 or DH25,000 per month for 25 years. Yes, you hear that right. She's lucky that she's won that fortune that will make her financially free for a very long time.
Here's the story: (https://gulfnews.com/uae/emirates-draw-filipina-wins-dh25000-a-month-for-25-years-in-fast5-draw-1.98226968)
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: September 25, 2023, 05:28:54 PM
They are actually doing it already; it's just that only a few are attracted to play in the PBA since the salary isn't as competitive as in other Asian leagues. In fact, our Filipino talents, who are full-blooded Filipinos, are signed as imports in Korea and Japan because they believe in our talent. It's just that we are lacking in terms of training to be more competitive on a world-class level.

Let's just reflect on what coach Yeng said.

Guiao on PH place in Asia basketball: 'Iwan na iwan na tayo'

Quote
Yeng Guiao on realizations after ROS' Jones Cup campaign
“Masakit mang aminin, pero meron na tayong ganung factor na medyo iwan tayo sa Asia,” the outspoken coach said days after his team finished the Taiwan invitational tournament seventh out of nine teams with just two wins in eight games.
Yeng is right but good thing that he's not in a team whose wings are from SMC and MVP companies so he's free to say anything he wants to say from his heart. Blame the PBA management for having a salary cap and at the same time the height limit. The management and rules of it are still in ancient times and only allow 1 import. Unlike in those leagues that you've mentioned, as long as the team can afford to do that, they're going to do it but with a max of 2 imports AFAIK. Also, the politics is totally a clown there. It shouldn't be included with such if it's about the beauty and glory of the PBA but then, when politics is also included then that make things really dirty and unpleasant. I still see a lot of fans like PBA but they don't want to watch it anymore because of how common the teams going in the finals. They better support the overseas leagues where our pure pinoy talents are being imported and invited to play.

592  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is Marriage a contract or a union? on: September 25, 2023, 04:22:27 PM
~snip~

So you are from Philippines. I personally sometimes mix up that country with Indonesia, both have a relatively high muslin population and are in the Pacific ocean.
Yes, I am. That's fine, we do always get that impression from other regions and in fact, we've got some words that are exactly as they are or close to its sound.

Also, do not be surprised money is something which is used there to accelerate legal processes, it is basically the same here in Venezuela, if not worse. It is a symptom of a corrupted system, in my opinion.
There's not that much difference, sad to say that justice system here as much as I want to respect and don't want to say an opinion that's gonna make it bad. But, that's what really it is.

Traditionally, here family has been viewed like one of the most important components of society, but divorce is something which is not stigmatized as much as previous years.
We're also people who love to take care of our family, we're family people, and as much as we want to take care of our families and keep it until we're gone. The culture setting is being changed based on what's happening in our society and that's why some laws are needed to be adopted and made just as the other countries.
593  Economy / Economics / Re: Small Scale Business Ideas on: September 25, 2023, 03:53:40 PM
How do you find capital for investment?

There are many ways to find your capital for investments or starting your own business. These are what I know;

  • Use your salary
  • Sell things/assets that you don't use anymore
  • Get a partnership either with your friends or strangers that share the same interest as you. Why not a relative?
In my culture, it's hard to deal business and partnerships with relatives and based also on my personal experience. I've got no problems with immediate family but to 2nd degree and so, there is.
  • Look for angel investors and be good at pitching your idea.

Actually there are more but these are like some common ideas.
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PEPE time to buy NOW? on: September 25, 2023, 03:18:19 PM
The name Pepe is mentioned everywhere for short trading.
Due to its volume and liquidity and with the performance that it did for the past years, that's why you see people that are into meme coins will mention it every time they want to.

In this case, logging in seems very risky
What's the connect of logging in? To your trading account? You won't be at risk if you're not going to trade and if you're going to trade and you put that with high margin as what the others do, you'll definitely going to experience the high risk with meme coins like Pepe.
But to be honest, there's no more point for a meme coin to go back to its former ATH when it's done there, it's done.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Flip or Trade? What’s The Bigger Gamble? on: September 25, 2023, 12:58:07 PM
What’s your take? Does day trading seem more of a gamble compared to a straight-up coin flip
Margin trading is more of gambling. But let's take it that anything that allows you to risk money and there will be a chance to win and lose, that's gambling.
Whether it's coin flip or anything that wants you to bet some money, it's a gamble. In trading, people often compare it as a type of gamble because of how quick things are escalating.
The risk is present for whatever type of trade you do and many do considers that as a way to gamble with your money.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: September 25, 2023, 11:28:50 AM
Yeah, that's true about winning but it also varies from time to time. If you're here to make cash then you expect that you're also about to lose so, if you're going to have the ratio of winning and losing, losing has that higher ratio than winning. And you don't have to be putting all that you can into gambling and the same goes for the hope that you'll make quick cash on it.
I'm sure that because in gambling there is no guarantee of certainty, it is true that in terms of winning it also varies greatly, the budget you bring really doesn't matter, no matter how much capital you bring, you still won't be able to know the statistics of how much you will win, and maybe we can only guess. Agreed, if there are some who come with the aim of earning then it is very clear to say that defeat will always dominate them, because something that is only limited to luck will always make the brain and mind always curious and obviously the percentage of victory will be lower than victory, because the house creates a system only for their own benefit and the gamblers who are made victims.
The capital matters only on how to prolong your stay but if you're lucky and you're doing a great job in maintaining that then you'll definitely prolong your stay and might get some profits along the way.

It is in the books. About tricks or you mean strategies, they're there but it just so happens that they're not going to work at most times. We've got luck yes and it's part of gambling but you can't be too depended on it because you will not know if you're lucky this or not.

I think it's just a waste of your time, do you believe in all these methods or strategies? I think by understanding that gambling is only limited to luck, you should be able to think with your common sense that of course whatever strategy you bring will not have an effect because it is clear and very real that it is only about luck, therefore as you said this often does not work. I think this fact is very clear, and maybe it's just that you are too much by adding a lot of ways and believe that it will work, but in fact it's nonsense and still lose.
Somehow I do, there could be strategies that might work for me but not for you and for the others and vice versa. But these strategies are just within us. It's like a practice on how we do the games we're playing and it's hard to think of any other new strategies when most of them aren't really staying for so long.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: September 25, 2023, 09:59:08 AM
In my opinion making cash from gambling is not a good option and the statistical probability that you will win every game at every casino is very low.

I think winning or losing every game is completely in your head, so your individual tricks are not there. However, we all have some kind of luck so we should strive for what is possible for us.
It is in the books. About tricks or you mean strategies, they're there but it just so happens that they're not going to work at most times. We've got luck yes and it's part of gambling but you can't be too depended on it because you will not know if you're lucky this or not.
598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB ? on: September 25, 2023, 09:33:18 AM
BNB is a very popular altcoin at this time, because BNB has many projects, that is
1. Exchange
2. Launchpad/Launchpool
3. Blockchain
There's a lot of use case for the BNB and that's why the demand is there and those projects that are attaching and connecting to its exchange and launchpad are getting some help.

so of course BNB could be a worthy choice for investment, but I also recommend you to investing in Ripple, because I believe that when the bullrun occurs, then the price of Ripple will increase to reach its ATH price or create a new ATH price.
It's a worthy of choice if you've got a lot of stack of altcoins in your portfolio and you're looking to add more. If you recommended XRP, it has been years since it didn't reached back its ATH. Whilst BNB, it has met certain ATHs and then likely to get back again when the next bull run comes. For now, it's not that really expensive at all and those that sees good opportunity having BNB and are believers of it, wait until the bull run and accumulate while its lower than its past ATH.
599  Economy / Economics / Re: How to spend money determines whether you can avoid unnecessary problems on: September 24, 2023, 11:48:18 PM
Lifestyle change is a big problem that is found with most of the people. When does this happen? Mostly it happens when a person gets into a better position earning $1500 from $700 in the previous month. This gives him the choice to spend. Here most of them doesn't follow strict guidelines and end up borrowing at the month end.
This is a problem of many and I have seen this many of my countrymen. I even grew up in a simple family that doesn't have much in life but fortunately, I know how to spend wisely and my lifestyle is still just the same as before. But to those that also have a lifestyle inflation. They're spending a lot of money to things that are fulfilling their childhood dreams and they're buying things that they can't buy before when they're younger or when they're still poor.

In some cases, they manage everything within it, but the savings will be the same as when he earned $700. There is nothing good or there is no room for improvement.
And not only that, they'll either get some loan for the other expensive things that they wanna buy. Since they've got jobs to pay for that, the mindset is that they can pay it even by taking a loan because they've got a bi-weekly or monthly salary that will have as a routine in calendar.
