And then @OP didn't even bother to reply to the representative and give him the requested username.  Now I am doubting the validity of the accusation since, the representative stated that there is no email inquiry about the issue and for the second and third time, the representative asked for the username so that he can verify if there is really that case in their system.  @OP better answer the Duckdice representative than answering other users' queries here.  Your priority should be establishing communication with the casino representative, not other users,
Because of the high rate of fake accusations from newbies without relevant evidence it has made it look as if this type of accusations are sponsored by passive rivals who hide under newbie accounts just to cause fuds for their competitors.

If oos is serious and have any level of evidence and truth in what he said, then he should have created this thread in reputation, accompanied with relevant evidence for clarity.

But in this case, the ops just created the thread and ran away without any response.

@OP replied in this thread answering other reply and skipped Kirito89 inquiries.  I also find it strange while @OP is wanting to connect with the casino, he evaded to answer the representatives inquiry in his latest post.

Your priority should be establishing communication with the casino representative, not other users,

from what I see OP does not have any valid evidence to support his claim or accusation against this casino, I realized that OP was online when the casino representative made a post asking OP to send the username, OP was online for a long time but not replied to the casino representative in this thread, I still don't know if the OP has PMed the casino representative, but I must say that the OP's behavior is not good at least so far he doesn't seem like the type of person to be making a valid claim with evidence, anyway I could be wrong, anyway in the next few hours or days we will see OP's position

I have not received any PM from OP regarding his username or his case.

It is obvious (before you made this confirmation) that @OP didn't pm you his username since you asked two more times after you initial inquiry about the OP's username.

I doubt that it's  a sponsored by a rival situation and fall more along the lines with the recent blackmail situation we've been dealing with where basically an user vowed to bring our trustpilot reputation + bitcointalk and other possible online medias to the lowest possible unless we pay him some amount of money to make it stop,  something we will 100% not be doing!

Kirito89,
Duckdice Support.

I believe those are extortion done by private individual or group.  I think there is a player who lost bigtime in your casino and wanted to get revenge or retaliate and to get his or some of his money and think of extortion and blackmailing as way to make it happen.  I hope the problem with this guy/group will end soon without the casino getting damaged.
582  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Core Scientific Mining Company is headed for bankruptcy on: January 14, 2023, 11:02:27 AM
Most of the companies over extended and borrowed at the peak of Bitcoins bull market.

Now the banks and investors in companies like this need to get their pound of flesh.

Poor financial management wins again.
Your first theory doesn't apply to all mining companies, if they take loans from banks at high interest during such bull markets, it's enough to bankrupt them.
The bank gives the customer a high interest loan for a fixed period of time, and the loan must be repaid with the principal and profit within that period.  Then the excess profit and the original combination created great pressure in this bear market.  As a result, mining companies are forced to file for bankruptcy.
However, if some of the policies of the mining company, especially the financial management, have adopted unethical measures, then the mining company has to fall into a financial crisis instead of profit at the end of the year.

Poor vision, poor financial management and incompetent project starter.  No one to blame for the bankruptcy of their company but the management team itself.  They are too rush to start a project when they know that Bitcoin price is at its peak.  They have the audacity to borrow funds when they don't have the capability to manage the system well.  They rush the planning, the development and even the launch of the project.  If they can only wait a little they could have been saved from the crypto crush effect of the bear market.

I don't know if any new news like this might hurt BTC again. But for a few days, we can see some significant green bars on the price chart. If something like this comes up again, then BTC will get hurt really bad this time.
We wish that this kind of thing would not happen in the upcoming future until BTC regains its strength. We all know that this kinda thing will keep on happening, as we can't stop it. But let's just hope for the best.
And the sudden inflation may have affected those companies a lot. Hopefully the others can hold onto their ground until the bear market is over.

News had been around for some weeks now, I think it won't hurt the current market since as I said the news on the bankruptcy of these mining company had been around even before we see the recent spike on the price of Bitcoin.
583  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mastering the Lightning Network book on: January 13, 2023, 12:34:58 PM
So, what any other funds there are to be received by node B other than the 60%??? This is the part I'm not understanding!

In an example person A and person B had agreed to send 0.5 BTC each making the channel balance 1 BTC.  Person A send 0.5 to person Person B and person B send 0.1 making the balance Person A = 0.1 BTC and person B = 0.9 BTC.

Then person B goes offline and Person A wanted to cheat Person B by sending an outdated version of the commitment transaction to the blockchain showing a balance of Person A 0.6 BTC and person B 0.4 BTC. and the person B due to being offline failed to detect the cheat before the timelock expires.  Person B will only be able to claim 0.4 instead of the 0.9 BTC and the rest will be claimed by the cheater person A which is 0.6 BTC instead of 0.1 BTC

This way the cheater is able to get more BTC in expense of the other party.  I hope I explain it clear enough.
584  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New Setup - Pool Settings saved, but not showing on Dashboard on: January 13, 2023, 11:53:59 AM
It looks like that the miner is not configured properly. It is also possible that the miner is configured different pool by default and that what you think that you have saved the edited configuration did not happen.

You can try to troubleshoot the problem by:
  • Double checking the data input on the configuration, check if the are URL, username and password is correct.
  • Make sure that you saved the configuration
  • You can also try to restart your miner
  • And also check the miner documentation to see if there is a specific instruction in configuring the miner to use another pool.

You can also check this board[1] to see if there is any guide in there that can help you.

585  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is programmable, just not Turing complete, correct? on: January 13, 2023, 11:21:19 AM
As far as I understand, Bitcoin is programmable, just not Turing complete.

You are right Bitcoin scripting language is not turing complete which means some application won't run in Bitcoin Network.  I believe this is done to make the network more stable and secure.

Quote
But what's the point of Turing completeness if the gas limits everything already? Why not just repeat the statement in code? Or "Goto" and "Label"?

Gas limits the infinite loop as the early reply stated, furthermore the use of Goto and Label can cause infinite loops and other problems that can be exploited by hackers to attack the network.

Are you telling me the EVM's only reason for success is that it was just more palatable to developers and what they believed about how smart contract ought to be?

EVM has a significant impact  on the development of blockchain technology and smart contracts, it also enable developers to build complex decentralized application or what we called dapps.

EVM is clearly explained here: https://cointelegraph.com/news/what-is-an-ethereum-virtual-machine-evm-and-how-does-it-work

Specifically this part:
Quote
Any funds you received after this will have been stolen by your partner.

If we are not able to detect te cheater peer, we only get the funds that were allocated by the commitment transaction broadcast by the cheating peer, right? So, if this is correct, what are this "any funds I received after this will have been stolen by your partner"??

Cheats happen when a party broadcasted an outdate version of the commitment transaction. It means the cheater shows you an old balance or the one that does not reflect the latest balance in the channel.  With these action of broadcasting an outdated version, the cheater trick you to believe that they have a bigger balance than he is entitled to.  This is called breach or a channel counterparty breach where the cheater can claim more fund that what he should have at the expense of the other party.

Here is an example:
Quote
For example, let's say the channel has a balance of 1 BTC and the other party has sent 0.5 BTC. The cheater can broadcast an old commitment transaction that shows a balance of 0.7 BTC in their favor, claiming the 0.2 BTC that they shouldn't have.

588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get rid of virtual machine on: January 12, 2023, 09:45:31 PM
Interesting reply from openai:  I do not know if this helps but I will put its input anyway.

Other potential sources of non-determinism include:

  • Inputs from external devices, such as sensors or cameras,
  • Network interactions, such as incoming network traffic or responses from other systems,
  • Hardware-level events, such as interrupts or disk access,
  • Concurrent or parallel execution of code,
  • Use of external libraries or APIs, which may have their own sources of non-determinism.

To isolate a process from these sources of non-determinism, you may need to use techniques such as:
  • Sandboxing the process to limit its access to external resources,
  • Replacing external libraries or APIs with deterministic alternatives,
  • Using deterministic replay to test the process with known inputs,
  • Controlling the environment in which the process runs, such as by running it on a dedicated machine or in a virtualized environment.

Keep in mind that completely eliminating all sources of non-determinism may be difficult or impossible, and the more sources of non-determinism that are eliminated, the more complex and ]resource-intensive the process may become.

589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 12, 2023, 09:01:51 PM

Interesting that this fight is going to be held at the super welterweight division now of 154 lbs? And yes probably just a question of weight issues for this two, maybe they are already outgrowing this weight classes already and so both parties agreed not to fight in the limit of 147 lbs?

I think Spence don't really want to give Thurman a title fight.  As far as I remember I read Spence saying not giving a fight with Thurman but since the fight is unavoidable Spence camp give term that they will fight on junior middle weight which the camp of Thurman agree.  So thinking of the previous scenario and the recent one, I believe that is one way of Spence tricking Thurman to have a non-title fight.

But I wonder how did Spence be able to make WBC agree when WBC ordered Spence to defend its title against Thurman.[1] While WBA approved Thurman's request to have Spence defend his title against him.[2]  Fighting in junior middleweight doesn't really make sense after all thegranted request and order from the boxing councils.

590  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Risk of jail for developers. Should you be anonymous? on: January 12, 2023, 08:42:40 PM
I believe the latest feedback on CBDC use in the African regions and China were not very good.
I can't comment on Africa but the news from China doesn't really look bad. It shows a solid growth in both adoption (number of users) and the number of transactions processed. The value processed was reported to surpass 100 billion yuan ($13.94 billion) recently, they claim that it is out of initial stage and is being used more.

Dictatorship do make a difference.  As far as I know Chinese government is pushy on what they wanted to implement, and at the same time they are releasing fake news in order to hide what really is happening in their country.  It is either of the two but I think it is more on the first one why CBDC in China is showing a solid growth.

Staying completely anonymous in the modern world is nearly impossible. I'm sure CIA, FBI and all other "three letter agencies" know who Satoshi was, who Bitcoin developers were/are etc. Anonymity doesn't exist, it's only a dream. If you start going against the system, you will be identified and tracked asap.

I also think that the government knows who Satoshi is and I am also one among the people who believe in a conspiracy theory that Satoshi is already dead killed by higher authority to stop or hinder the propagation of Bitcoin.  They maybe somehow successful in hindering but these authority failed miserably in stopping the propagation of Bitcoin.
591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is here to stay on: January 12, 2023, 08:21:15 PM
Bitcoin had already established its foundation, with the left and right adoption of Bitcoin, some countries had already accept it as legal tender while many more is already or considering it as mode of payment.  There are also small enterprises that despite their country's undecided stance about Bitcoin, they are accepting Bitcoin to fuel their business.

Bitcoin had been around more than a decade and it keeps on getting stronger after some struggles and hurdles that happens along its way.  Like these centralized services fiasco, Bitcoin market was greatly affected but the community and the market is strong enough to withstand the effect and slowly recovers. With that there is no doubt to say that Bitcoin is really here to stay.

592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It good For The Casinos And The Accusers If .. on: January 12, 2023, 08:05:27 PM
Is It Good For The Casinos And The Accusers If the casino operators decided to post a disclaimer that they will not answer accusations here in Bitcointalk but prefer to address them on other platforms that they think are fair and moderated like Askgambler and other platforms?
What's your take on this I don't want to be specific but the question applies to all casino operators.

In a large community forum, I think that it is not good for the casino to not react to the accusers.  If a casino stay silent or put a disclaimer that they will not react to any post here in the forum, the community that is active in this forum will likely see them as fraud or a scam making a possible big players to skip their casino.  It is the casino's lost if they failed to make a communication and prove themselves innocent in face of a huge community.  Communication is one of the factor that establish a casino's reputation so limiting their communication portal by only answering on the given platform is not a wise decision.
593  Other / Meta / Re: Why are account farmers still left to roam free in the forum? on: January 11, 2023, 10:05:42 PM
I was thinking that someone (from DT1/DT2), for the sake of knowing the accounts being traded, create a new account and message the seller pretending to be a potential buyer and ask him (the seller) to show him the account he is going to buy so that he can check the post quality and everything. Once the accounts are revealed to them, they should get back to their original accounts and tag those accounts so that the seller cannot sell them and bears the loss.
Some time ago someone with the same idea did it and exposed an account sale. I didn't find the thread at the moment, but it has been done.
Here he is: [Investigation] Fighting The Account Mafia

I think the idea is trap, but that's fine if the OP really wants to do it. It's a difficult operation, but it may be worth it. Your success rate depends only on how you trick the seller and collect data from all accounts, but I think now they move more after the previous incident. Good luck [if OP really want to do it]. I just don't want to waste my time talking to scammers.

I do think too, looking at the prices, a Legendary account selling @$299 and other account prices, I think it is too good to be true, it is more profitable if those accounts are enrolled in a campaign so selling them is like selling at a loss.  They are put them in there probably to lure naive buyer and scam them. Who knows, the escrow the seller is talking about might be the sellers another alt account. And anyone got interested and bought those account may be in for a scam.

Account farmers still left to roam free because alt accounts is allowed while account selling is highly discourage, it is not prohibited.
594  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How badly can natural disasters stop mining operations? on: January 11, 2023, 09:25:36 PM

The above mentioned statement shows that natural calamities can definitely hinder towards the growth of mining industry and even show such big plunges in the numbers. Do you think that some day, if miners are to stop their mining for a longer period, maybe a week or a month (very least/rare chances of this to happen), will it become an opportunity for small miners to merge and mine and try their luck at finding a block when the big numbers are out of the game for some time?

I always think that the opportunity for small miners to merge and mine to solve blocks is always there, it is that when several miners shutdown due to the natural disasters, the possibility of finding a block increase due to the other miners that supposed to be competing are shut down.  Aside from that difficulty adjustment will happen after some weeks when the number of hashing power is reduced, which also increase the chance of small miners to compete in solving blocks.  But I think the changes is minimal that it isn't noticeable at all.

595  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Do and Don't for Electrum Wallet on: January 11, 2023, 08:27:19 PM
If you read this post, I've been hacked (Electrum 4.3.2), you will find that person lost his funds because he did not protect his wallet properly.

I believe one of the major flaw on the system of the person that was hacked while using the electrum 4.3.2 is lack of a good antivirus software.  All he has is the window defender which the person found out that it does not do anything.  With good anti-virus at least some known malware and viruses can be detected and deleted or quarantined before it infect our pc system.

I would like people to tell and discuss that after installing Electrum wallet on the computer, what additional steps they should take so that there are minimal chances of their funds being hacked by the intruders and hackers.

Not only after installing but make sure that our system is free from any infection of malware or trojan before installing electrum wallet.  Always verify the application by checking the app signature.

Katrina Bookman was playing the slots at the Resorts World Casino in Jamaica, Queens when she secured what would have been the largest slot machine jackpot in US history - $42,949,672 (£35.4m). She took a selfie with the machine to mark the moment, and later said her whole body went 'numb' when she saw the life-changing figure. Bookman was told to come back the next day to discuss her winnings, but when she asked an employee what she'd be walking away with, he responded: "You didn't win nothing." The New York State Gaming Commission said Bookman’s machine had malfunctioned, and that she'd actually won just $2.25 (£1.86).The machine had a disclaimer stating 'malfunctions void all pays and plays', and as a result the commission said that they were required by law to give Bookman only what she'd actually won.

Source: https://www.unilad.com/community/woman-won-43-million-offered-steak-dinner-instead-055644-20230108

Some Casinos are just plain fraudulent. So this woman visited a casino, play slot and won $43million. She took a selfie with the amount displayed on the machine. The casino saw it and told her to return the next day so they could talk about the winnings. Next day she returned. Story changed. She was told the machine had malfunctioned and therefore it was what was responsible for the winnings. They went ahead to offer her a complimentary steak dinner. I got so livid reading this story.

Isn't this just the stupidest reason not to give her her winnings?
Couldn't they have known that their so-called machine was faulty before letting gamblers use it?
How could they do this to her?

Isn't this the same case of the lottery winner where the record of winnings were wiped out?  but then there is this printed ticket that is not in-sync with the one shown on the screen.
Quote
“After explaining the circumstances to Ms. Bookman, we offered to pay her the correct amount that was shown on the printed ticket. Machine malfunctions are rare, and we would like to extend our apologies to Ms. Bookman for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

So I wonder if the ticket is printed right after the woman wins or printed on the next day when they have to talk about his winnings.  I believe it was the moment of winnings reason why she have to go back another day for the discussion because the casino need to verify the issue.

Quote
“After explaining the circumstances to Ms. Bookman, we offered to pay her the correct amount that was shown on the printed ticket. Machine malfunctions are rare, and we would like to extend our apologies to Ms. Bookman for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

The problem is the article seems intentionally missed out some details to sensationalized the news.  Anyway, it took the woman a year before he react on filing a lawsuit about the incident.  But I think that the slots really malfunction because the number shown in screen is different from the amount printed on the claim ticket.  And the woman knows it.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can players bet on their own games on: January 11, 2023, 07:36:48 PM
As far as I know athletes or professional players are not allowed to bet on themselves[1].  But as the reference stated, it is somehow in a grey area where some players are able to bet on themselves.  According to the regulation, although players are banned on betting on the sports they are involve with, they can bet on other sports that they don't have any affiliation.

Although it was stated that professional player/fighters are ban from betting on themselves, several boxers and MM artist are able to do so  why?  Because there are few exception on the rule[2][3]

So, in general, athletes are not allowed to bet on themselves. There are a few exceptions to these rules, especially when athletes find grey areas in the legislation and regulation processes. This is only valid for individual matches and sports, like boxing, MMA, or tennis

Business that accepts only dollars vs business that accepts dollars and euro and pounds would have a difference too. Lets assume you have an online shop, but you only accept paypal and nothing else, versus someone who would also offer credit card option on top of paypal, that would also have a better result.

This "adding crypto to your business is great" is not really a unique approach, adding more payment options will always be good, if you have just crypto, add paypal and credit card to it and you will get better too. That has always been like that, in any business, make it easier for the customer to buy, so that they do not have time to rethink and give up.

I agree, adding more option to pay make customer using those option to buy in your store.  There are times when we have items the customer needed but due to limited payment option, they move to other store.  For example, recently I bought some items through online store, I prefer cash on delivery (COD) but the store I usually buy the item remove that option so I don't have a choice but to look for another store that has COD on their payment option.

It would be the same to those who would like to pay in Bitcoin.  Accepting Bitcoin in a business really caters more sales and customers.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco on: January 10, 2023, 12:36:53 PM
Just like other fans, I'm gonna be biased here and will root for Loma. Maybe he is passed his prime but his IQ is still there and 34 isn't old enough as other boxers at his age are still doing pretty well too. Let's not forget Pacquiao passed his prime and still manage to win by a split decision at age 40.

This is highly possible if Loma step on the ring at his best.  Many fans believe that Loma can crack Devin Haney's defense and I so want to see it too.  Although Haney has all the advantage, reach, size, youth except I think is the experience where Loma has the advantage, many believes that the fighting style and ring adaptiveness of Loma is superb,  I also want to see Loma win this upcoming fight.

Most probably a unanimous decision at the end of the fight. As per rumor says, he will be the underdog and that is not surprising but fans will be happy to bet coz they have better odds.

I think it is obvious that Lomachenco will be the underdog here, Devin Haney is the champion, bigger and younger boxer at his prime plus the unblemished records.
