601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Would you Like Your Pension Paid in Bitcoin? on: November 11, 2023, 10:06:20 AM
So, I am some how pained, though I very much understand that there is nothing I could have done about this back, but assuming I am still working with this company, I probably would have approached the manager and asked that all my pensions be paid in bitcoin, and make my bitcoin wallet available to them, and also teach them how to do it just incase they don't know.

Why this?, I was going through my text messages today, and came across an sms alert I received on the 30th of September, 2023, from Stanbic IBTC pension managers, the pension company that my previous company was paying my pension to when I was still working with them, and indeed, my pension balance saddened, upon the realization that if my pension balance was in bitcoin, by now, I will be a millionaire.

If I knew then, what I know now about bitcoin, I would have approached this company, and demand that they pay me my pension in bitcoin, or don't pay me pension at all, but pay me my salary in full, and from my salary, I will create a bitcoin pension for myself.
You can't ask company to pay your pension funds in bitcoins because this process is regulated and your pension is protected by your government and reserves are stored in national bank. This is a widespread method and I think Nigeria won't be an exception but it would be really good if they let people to choose where to invest this money. If I had that option, I would store them in bitcoins and some altcoins like you because inflation eats years of hard work and finally you are left with nothing. It's not fair, forced pension system is a robbery from governments. Low salaries, high taxes, this is not enough, let's add pensions. Eh, sad reality of our days.
602  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Using a Credit Card Demonstrate Financial Literacy? on: November 11, 2023, 09:25:53 AM
It is all relative. Debt can be good sometimes. When the interest rates are lower than the interest rates, it is a brilliant idea to borrow money because the prices will go up in value faster than the interest you are going to pay. As long as you know what you are doing cc or cash can be better in different situations. People go nuts when they hear the word “debt” but they don’t know how amazon become that big. They paid no taxes because they borrowed so much money and made investments. That’s a loophole in the taxing system which everyone can take advantage of. There are two kinds of debt: Good debt and bad debt. If you are borrowing money to build something productive, then it is good debt.
Is there similar loophole in taxes in every country? Probably not. I have also never seen inflation higher than interest rates on debts because in my country agreement gives banks right to increase interest rate if inflation significantly grows.

However, when the others here started their tiny business, they did not have credit cards. They may not have been aware of financial literacy, but the fact that they have built their little business demonstrates that they are doing things that necessitate proper financial awareness in order to manage the firm they established.
They may not have been aware of financial literacy but they built business in a niche where they didn't have competitors. When this niche becomes mainstream niche and you have a company that started this niche and matured in this niche, then you'll naturally mature in financial literacy, like Amazon.
603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 11, 2023, 08:25:40 AM
As a Turkish person I might be a little biased towards the whole Arda Guler situation, but I have to say the kid is only 18 years old and from the images that we have seen so far, from the day he got to the team versus the latest pictures that we got of him, we can clearly see that he has put on some serious amount of muscle on his legs, not that huge of a difference on his body but his legs definitely got huge compared to how it was just six months ago. That could be one of the reasons why he got injured so frequently, they know that he is talented, but they are overloading him with extensive training that pushes his body to limits which injures him a lot. The moment they let go of his training situation, he will probably get better and won't get injured as much.
He is only 18 years old, at his hormonal peak, he won't have as much testosterone as he has right now. I think that if they are pushing him and training him harder, that's good right now because when you build some muscle in teen ages, it's easier to keep that. I don't know how if it's a broscience or not but that's what I know. I remember when I was a kid and watching Lionel Messi's performance in matches, I noticed that he gained huge quad muscles and I was always thinking that it was making him slow and was requiring more energy.
Btw I don't think big quads are the reason of his injuries because of his current age.
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: As a Bitcoin Core only user, how im supposed to pay someone in person? on: November 09, 2023, 08:19:33 PM
Laptop may attract attention, someone accidentally may hit you with shoulder and you may drop your laptop, everything can happen, I wouldn't use laptop either. I think that chances of damagin laptop or getting it stolen is way higher compared to smartphone because everyone has smartphone today in the street and outside, just my two cents.
A quick Google search shows that both laptops and cell phones have a 1-in-10 chance of being stolen. I trust laptops a lot more though, since I can install my own software and easily encrypt a user directory. Pick one up from Craigslist (for $50) and you don't have to worry about losing your expensive laptop.
I did a quick Google search right now after your comment and I have to admit that you are right, some .gov and .edu websites say that 1 in 10 individuals will have their laptop or smartphone stolen at some point. Okay, I am not going to argue with you over this but I think this person has to make his choice by considering his location. I can say this from personal experience that laptops are stolen more often than smartphones because almost everyone moves with iPhones or with expensive smartphones but you'll rarely see someone with laptop. By the way, it's easier to hide smartphone or put it in a safe pocket quickly if you notice any threat. Okay, I am not arguing here, it's very individual but aren't laptops more likely to get victim of cyber attacks?

Android always feels like a dumbed-down version of Linux.

That's because it is a dumbed-down version of Linux with an extremely old kernel, no daemons, no way to compile stuff from scratch and overall, is more designed to be a Google product than anything that has anything to do with Linux Smiley

That is not to say that Linux ports to mobile phones have been particularly successful yet (Ubuntu Touch I think and there are some others who have also failed).
Android itself is a dumbed-down version of Linux but it's even more dumbed-down when companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Sony make plenty of modifications to Android.
605  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How does the bitcoin mining industry work? on: November 09, 2023, 07:32:33 PM
Is it really that small? I'm sure you remember that in 2017 there was a boom of GPU mining and people were buying so many GPUs that Nvidia and some AMD graphics cards were not only out of stock everywhere but it had crazy prices too. I wanted to change my old GPU and buy a new one for gaming in 2017 and I simply couldn't let myself to pay thousands of dollars in a graphics card.
I think there is a difference between the altcoin mining market and the Bitcoin mining market. I also don't think that your experience applies exactly the same right now. I don't think mining is the key reason why GPU has been hard to buy in the last two years, not to mention other devices like PS5 and Xbox are also hard to buy until recently. It is not hard to imagine that GPU manufacturers fuel the rumor to increase their GPU prices without too much backlash. CMIIW.

Btw, if you compare the mining market size to the GPU market size, then some reports suggest that the number is hovering around $7 billion compared to $40 billion in 2023, which is quite a significant difference.
No, I don't mean the last two years. I mean 2016, 2017 and 2018. Can't talk about other years because I stopped GPU mining after 2019. I remember in those years that it was almost impossible to build a gaming computer but I can't say that GPU manufacturers used that as an excuse to increase GPU prices. I remember that GTX GPUs were sold 1 per customer on Nvidia and other shops but price was almost the same as it was before GPU boom or as it was expected for the new series of GPUs.

606  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best Aviator platform on: November 09, 2023, 06:57:03 PM
I thought "aviator game" was a new type of gambling game, but it turns out it is just another crash game.
I can talk endlessly about Aviator game. I know people involved in it. This game was created exclusively for one local casino because their marketing manager got captivated when I introduces bustabit to her. You all probably know bustabit.com, the first game in this category. Then, marketing team had talk with stakeholders and then they had talk with developers and the whole team to create this game, then they almost renamed their casino as Aviator.

This game is created by Spire.co
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you cope with those around you not believing in you for choosing Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2023, 06:50:29 PM
Pretty much self explanatory.  How do you do it?

Here is my way.  I mostly pushed away and pulled out of relationships with people who seem to stand against my beliefs.  Instead of convincing them I just moved on.  I found that a lot of those who do not believe in my choice of investment and think I will fail are the same people who never listen.  Know it alls who rather put you down and disregard your feelings with no logical reasoning.  Sometimes it feels like they envy you or some thing.
I think that it's not my duty to prove anything to anyone. I try my best to educate people and introduce bitcoin in their life but instead I get cynicism, laugh and people say that it's a bubble that will explode. Time goes on and all we see is that bitcoin achieves new all time highs and price is going to the moon. Now I don't talk about Bitcoin unless I hear it from someone, I just shut my mouth because it's not really my duty to educate others and it's not really nice to get cynicism back.

Only keep close to you people who give you the ambition and optimism to continue.  Not sure how many of you believe in this.  But manifesting negativity has always brought negative outcome in my life.  Surrounding myself by positive thoughts and positive people has brought a strong source of light all the time.
Yes, it's good when you have people around you who are optimistic and give you boots but I think it's not good to hear only positive sides and don't hear talk about negative sides from others. We need balance in life, I believe this.
608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have your own casino. on: November 08, 2023, 01:35:00 PM
How many of you have dreamed about having your casino? Be the house and play the always-win game.

In the past years it was different, people who could build a provably fair engine were able to have their own casino, but now we are playing with new rules, the casinos must have a license and games providers, and that's what people are looking for, and i don't say is something bad, the gambling experience on stake compared with the gambling experience on satoshi bones is enormous.
In the past, there was no big competition, there were only one or two games like Dice and Bustabit and bitcoin wasn't concidered as a currency. Today you have a different reality, these casinos, some of them that used to be made single-handedly, turned into big companies that have big offices and hundreds of employees. Stake started as a primedice, it was primedice at first and after years, Stunna created a new casino called Stake. It was not exceptional casino at first but over time, it grew and become one of the greatest casino.
In the past, I used to dream to have a bustabit like website but was too little to create that, didn't have a bankroll. Today, it's hard to dream, you need a huge bankroll and a team of professional developers who know what they do.
609  Economy / Gambling / Re: COINS.GAME | THE MOST REWARDING CRYPTO CASINO | SPORTSBOOK & CASINO on: November 08, 2023, 12:29:20 PM
I have a bad experience on live games of this casino specifically the screen ration when using wide screen device since it force me to landscape my device just to play the game while the video quality is doesn’t adapt automatically to higher resolution when I’m on landscape mode.
Do you play live casino games offered by Evolution gaming? If you play on Evolution live tables, your problems might be caused from their side and not from coins.game. Have you tried to contact Evolution's live support or have you tried to clear cookies and restart web browser?

I really agree with their slogan, "The Most Rewarding Crypto Casino." Here's why: every day, you can claim 1-5 USD on their Telegram by wagering only 500-2.5K USD weekly. The "Coins Drop Rain" on Chat, you just need to be active in the chat and complete the CAPTCHA. Aside from coins wheel that you can spin every 12 hours, you can also join the risk-free tournament with a prize pool of $150 every 12 hours. Never seen this kind of promotion in other casinos.
I don't know how good are gifts on wagering in other casinos but coins drop rain on chat is really a great features, motivates you to be active in chat and interact with other people. Risk-free tournaments are amazing too, I often enter these tournaments when I play poker, would love to see risk-free tournaments on many games like slots and live casinos if possible.

Even before the invention of AI technologies, computers were designed to beat humans and they did it.
AI aren't designed to beat humans but they were designed to make it feel like you would have a chance to beat them.
Computers were designed to solve complex problems faster than humans. At some point, we can say that computers were designed to beat humans but it I can't agree with you on AIs. AIs were designed to change humans because as you see, there is an active talk about driver-free taxis, robot workers and etc.

AI systems can process multiple equations in a second without any emotional interference which gives them advantage over humans. As a human you can process more equations than cpus but your emotions will keep you behind.
I think that AIs will beat majority of poker gamblers because it will be able to calulate and make better decisions unlikely humans but those who are real professionals, will beat AI because poker involves not only calculation but luck and experience plays a major role, professionals will be able to fool AIs but long-term, if professional plays with AI nonstop for hours and AI is able to learn their beavior, then AI will probably beat them but it's only a guess. AI's role is bigger in games like Chess because it involves only mathematical calculations.

611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker coming to stake.com in the near future ! on: November 08, 2023, 08:34:11 AM
If they decide to collaborate with big poker network such as ggpoker, they have bigger chance to survive with the poker.
Lets say Stake prefer to create their own poker network, I think it is not a bad idea since they have big player base already now and it is a good start.
Most other sites that failed in the past are mostly new sites that come with poker game only and started like from ZERO so it is reasonable if most of them failed.
Betcoin and fortunejak or may betnomi, these 3 sites did try to have poker but all of them also failed although they have player base but I'm sure the number of active players are not as big as what we can see in Stake.
I remember FortuneJack's poker, it was amazing but sadly no one was playing. I think that crypto casinos fail with Poker because almost all of them started with game Dice and crypto casino for me, an early user, is associated with dice. Since 2017, crypto casinos slowly adopted other games, add slots, sportsbooks, live casinos. I remember there was no Sportsbook on FortuneJack, Bitsler, Stake. We only had betcasino and nitrogen at first, then sportsbet.io was made in 2016. I think crypto casinos need to promote poker and they'll succeed.
Collaboration with poker networks is a quick solution. That won't be bad but I think casino, as big and popular as Stake is, can have its own network and is able to maintain it.
612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: As a Bitcoin Core only user, how im supposed to pay someone in person? on: November 08, 2023, 07:46:09 AM
Suppose you only use Bitcoin Core on a Linux distro because you don't trust anything else
Then you have to change your mind. I use Electrum in my smartphone for years, have stored up to 1 bitcoin and never ever got it stolen. I don't suggest you to use your smartphone as a cold wallet but it can be a good hot wallet for hundreds of dollars or some thousands for a quick pay.

Is there any handheld device that would make sense to use to do this transaction that doesn't stand out? Like one of these hardware wallets, that screams "punch this guy to get free BTC".
Oh, so you changed your mind and don't stick with Linux distro.
If I were you, I would buy The Passport Foundation wallet and would watch this tutorial - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri1ZBZZdQb0
By using The Passport wallet and your smartphone, you will feel secure.

I don't get your point. laptop can be brought anywhere you want so why not bring it and only deal with someone in a safe place like a mall?
Laptop may attract attention, someone accidentally may hit you with shoulder and you may drop your laptop, everything can happen, I wouldn't use laptop either. I think that chances of damagin laptop or getting it stolen is way higher compared to smartphone because everyone has smartphone today in the street and outside, just my two cents.

Today I received a cap and hoodie from Bitcasino.io 😁 I love the hoodie it was very comfortable to wear (I'm not Japanese, but I chose Japanese font because I think it looked kind of cool, next time I'll choose the regular one)😁 Maybe I should wear both when I play, maybe it will bring me some good luck 😁😂
Congrats! To be honest, I avoid japanese or other fonts when I buy a t-shirt because when I see that font, I sometimes think that that is a cheap t-shirt ordered from Aliexpress  Cheesy Cap looks great.

Interesting video in this tweet, all about Baccarat, it’s origin and history. I find it informative and it’s kinda cool to know about the game you’re playing @ Bitcasino.io

Do we have any avid Baccarat players here?

Not Baccarat player but used to be a Baccarat dealer. To be honest, this game was very popular among asians, those who type with hieroglyph but I can't tell you whether they were from China or Taiwan or Japan, I don't know. By the way, BlackJack is more popular in Europe on live casino from my experience.
614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Meta's no ads subscription and gambling disorder. on: November 07, 2023, 08:23:38 PM
Before now it was impossible to avoid advertisment on Facebook and Instagram. This has made it impossible for gamblers to avoid advert even when they have used control the ads options. Now Meta is giving users in the EU, EEA and Switzerland the choice to pay a monthly subscription to use Facebook and Instagram  without any ads. This special account can come for as high as €9.99/month on the web or €12.99/month on iOS and Android. Users can get this account this month and enjoy the package
Every platform is moving on subscription model. For example, there are so many ads on Youtube that it's hard to see the footage. Btw I think that this subscription model that gets rid of advertisement will have a negative affect on advertisers because they won't be able to reach to their full audience or will miss some good customers.

Aren't gambling ads banned on Instagram and Facebook? It's surprising to me that gambling ads are still allowed on FB and IG.
Casinos are allowed to advertise on Facebook only under their prior permission - https://transparency.fb.com/en-gb/policies/ad-standards/content-specific-restrictions/gambling/

I will use the €9.99 to €19.99 to gamble instead  Grin. In my country, that is not small amount of money, but I can still use it to gamble to have some fun as my weekly income is far more than that.
Hahaha, you really made my day  Cheesy
615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How safe do you feel with casinos that ask you to input your log detail. on: November 07, 2023, 01:06:39 PM
This has led me to desire to know the community,  reaction on this subject matter of user login details being frequently asked by a casino,  do you feel safe to see a casino asking you for user name,  or phone number and password each time you open the site in your browser.
I think it's boring to enter your username, password and then do mobile verification every time you open a casino website and I have never been in such situation because your browser has cookies and that's how they work, with the help of cookies, you don't have to enter your details regularly. If you delete your cookies, then you will have to enter it every time. I have never experienced what you describe now. If any casino does that, they will lose their customers.
616  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can anyone recommend an event where one can test their trading skills? on: November 07, 2023, 12:29:13 PM
The world of DeFi trading provides a space for both newcomers and seasoned traders to test their mettle, adapt to market volatility, and potentially discover the next big thing in the cryptocurrency landscape. Share your thoughts and experiences with DeFi trading or any unique insights you've come across in this domain, can anyone recommend an event where one can test their trading skills?
I wouldn't use demo platforms to learn trading because demo and real life are like day and night. When you trade on demo platform with play money, you risk easily and you trade differenty because you know there is not your fate dependent on your trades but when you trade in real life and see that you lose or profit from your budget, then you start to ger nervous or excited and will make mistakes. That's why I think that the best way to learn trading is to trade with money that you can afford to lose but also is not some bucks. For example, $1000 is something I can afford to lose but this is still the amount of money I care. You can choose your number, it's not necessary to risk one thousand but you should remember your lessons carefully and improve your trading skills and emotions.
617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: at which point of a boxing match you consider cashingout? on: November 06, 2023, 07:33:29 PM
assuming you risk your money to an underdog Prograis 3.75 vs Devin 1.22 and then Prograis luckily landed a snap punch resulting in a flash knockdown in the 1st round and the referee counts to 8. of course, you will be seeing the cashout option makes you win probably more than 30% if you'll cash out. would you do it or would you wait to find out if Prograis wins?  and what will you do if the fight goes the distance while Devin is also gaining?

let's say you compare this to Fury vs Ngannou which Ngannou knock down Fury and then goes the distance. will you cashout because it's already a sure profit or will you wait for the decision which is very uncertain?
I don't watch boxing but when I bet, I check other popular matches in diferent games. Ngannou had so high odds that I would probably use cashout immediately. If cashout is attractive for me, I use it and if it only gives me 10% or similar cashback, then I simply risk because there is not much to lose but there is a lot to win if I risk.
I don't know about Prograis vs Devin match but if I were you and I had an option to use cashout button during count that 8 seconds, I would push it if strike was very hard and I would also consider how often and how easily that person gets knocked out. There are people who have good chin and don't get knocked out easily. You have to consider everything when you make a bet or cashout decision.
618  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tips to Follow traders/scalpers (who use Stop Loss) on: November 05, 2023, 11:49:56 AM
I think most successful traders are using stop loss. For me, stopping loss when you do trading is a must and it will help you to minimize your losses.
For OP, have you tried to check some centralized exchanges like Binance or Bybit, they have this Copy trading feature if you want to copy trade. Check trades history of traders first and some description so you can select what you want.
It's hard decision to set stop loss on your order, I can confirm that from my experience. Usually, I try to stay alert and watch price in live when I am trading because I can more likely understand whether there is a pure manipulation or there is a real panic. There is only one time when I set stop loss on my orders and that's only when I sleep because I got liquidated when I was trading on futures without setting stop-loss and lost thousands of dollars.
My piece of advice is to use stop loss feature if you aren't able to watch price in live. If you watch it in live and are confident that you'll be able to take the care of sudden price spike or dump and are alert at the same time, then you can continue without it.
619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think gambling is inbuilt, kids don't learn it anywhere, they do it! on: November 05, 2023, 10:30:16 AM
The Australian Government once said about abolishing gambling ads as a means of reducing gambling activities amongst underage people. But, I think they'll be no successful way of stopping young people from gambling. As it's in them. Most articles here also say things like gambling addiction being hereditary. That means gambling can be hereditary as well. Because I just watched from a distant two kids below 10 years, staking bets, after a long argument about who the artiste of a specific song is. They later staked close to 40 cents each, for the person who gets the answer right. Then they went ahead to verify. And I lost sight of them. I thought about, how come or who thought these kids about betting money during a long argument. I was able to memorize, back when I was a kid. We easily said, how much would you bet if it turns out I'm saying the truth; during an argument. It made me understand that, despite during those days we had no phones or access to the internet, gambling is somehow embedded to the brain of humans. Then, as a child, we weren't exposed to gambling. I could only remember of lotto, as a kid. But we still said things like "let's bet it"
I often see articles about gambling regulations in Australia and I don't understand why are they so strict, do they really have gambling problems? Australia is a very developed country and I can't imagine if people there are addicted to gambling. Btw I can confirm that kids gamble because it's cool to gamble among them. When I was a teen, I used to gamble too, I was mostly betting on soccer and I did that because it was an easy money and it was cool to say in school that I bet on sports. You have to change your mentality and understand that it's not as simple as you imagine, you have to do actual work to earn or just have fun and only play with money that you are willing to lose in case you won't be able to win.
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the second Satoshi appears? on: November 05, 2023, 08:24:33 AM
Right. Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin. He's a genius. Bitcoin systems and communities are working perfectly, and everyone is crazy about Bitcoin. But what happens if someone creates a blockchain that is faster and better than Bitcoin and puts it out into the world without any greed, as Satoshi did? Are people going to ditch Bitcoin away? In that moment, we're going to see a blockchain that's performing better than Bitcoin and is perfect for decentralization that everyone emphasizes. What will happen?
It's not only about features to my mind. Bitcoin is so popular that no coin is going to easily replace it, bitcoin is just the king of the jungle named cryptocurrency.

Let's think a little. Do you still use your old Nokia from 1998? I guess not, although 2G is still supported by the GSM network.
If something better, faster, safer it's invented, it has the potential to replace Bitcoin.
I don't think it's that simplier. Why hasn't Monero changed bitcoin? Monero has absolutely everything that Bitcoin lacks, Monero fulfills every demand of bitcoin users: privacy, security, decentralization, asice resistance. Because of these features, I thought Monero was the best investment option and would become more popular and expensive than Bitcoin but I was wrong. Maybe I am blind but I would love to hear what makes bitcoin a better than Monero?
